I've been training at SH/FT with Natalie for 3+ years now and it has been the best fitness experience I've ever had. I came to SH/FT in a bit of a rut with my workouts. I was working out on my own, attempting to lift and build strength, but every time I felt I was making progress, I would tweak or pull something and regress. Not only has working out with Natalie helped me achieve strength gains I never would have achieved on my own, it has kept me healthy, and reshaped my view of what I can accomplish. While Natalie's programming is always challenging, I look forward to my workouts with her. The gym itself is bright and clean, and all the trainers are friendly and welcoming. I would recommend SH/FT to anyone looking for a committed team of trainers and a welcoming place to workout.

Shift is such a great place to workout. Iβve been training with Kait for close to 3 years now, but have also had experience with a few other trainers (and can honestly say they are all great). Everything there is really nice and modern and the gym has a great vibe/nice music playing. Thereβs peletons, rowers, and all the other machines and equipment you could need to get really fit. 10/10 reccomend.

I work out with Colleen at Shift - I love my sessions with her! My workouts are always different and Colleen has great encouraging energy. I have seen such a difference in my core and strength since starting. I love how clean and minimal the gym is & how private my workouts are. The staff is always friendly! Parking is easy to find and I love that they have a full bathroom set up with amenities for the mornings Iβm in a hurry. I would absolutely recommend adding training at Shift to your routine!

After training at Shift for about a year, it has become a second home to me. I had been battling with knee pain due to muscle imbalances from working out on my own and running a few times a week. Since then, I have consistently attended the circuit training classes with Tom/Mitch and flowing in yoga with Kait. I have been able to grow stronger and work on those weaknesses from learning how to move through multiple planes of motion. They have helped me hold myself to a new standard and thatβs one of the reasons that keep me coming back week in and week out.
Shift has extremely knowledgeable and experienced trainers on staff, but there is more to it than that. They all have so much pride and passion for their profession that it truly translates over to providing the highest quality experience for their members. I would recommend training at Shift for anyone in the Portland area that wants to commit to a well-rounded training regimine that helps become a stronger and more confident person all in a great community setting.

As soon as you walk into Shift, you know you're going to get something different. You're not walking into your run-of-the-mill gym space. It is welcoming yet minimalist and the staff of trainers is kind and approachable. You will find what you need from equipment to training to wonderful small group classes. The trainers are so incredibly knowledgeable and know exactly what you need to feel and be your best self. Their personal training and class times are varied so that you can get a workout no matter your schedule and the location conveniently located in-town Portland, but away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Using their locker room and shower facilities is a pleasure as they are pristine and lovely and if you forget your workout clothes (or just want some new ones) they carry the best fitness apparel around!

SH/FT was meant to be a place I went for a few months to help me get back to my old self. Fast forward nearly 18 months and I am still there. The space is beautiful and state of the art, but the people/trainers make the experience. I owe my trainers more than they will ever know.

I've belonged to numerous gyms over the years, but what sets Shift apart from the competition is the level of personal attention, dynamic workouts, beautiful space, and community that Shift has attracted. I love that each workout - while challenging - is always fun. Tom and Rebecca are both incredibly talented trainers, and work very closely with each member - regardless if it's a personal training session or group class. If you're a beginner looking to get in shape, or a serious athlete - Shift is the gym for you.

I am so glad that I discovered SH/FT. I first met Tom and Rebecca, and SH/FT, during a pop-up pub run they hosted a few years back. When they opened the new space up at the Training Center, my fiance and I started attending the small group classes and those classes have had such a positive impact on my overall fitness.
I am an avid distance runner who runs everyday of the week and that was ultimately the extent of my physical exercise. With that exercise regimen I was starting to feel aches and pains on a fairly regular basis. At the time, I just thought those types of aches and pains came with getting older, but that's when SH/FT changed it all around for me. While my body feels QUITE sore the day or two following my training session, I feel my whole body has become stronger and healthier as a result of the work of the trainers at SH/FT.
There was about a 6-week period I couldn't attend my weekly class due to a variety of reasons, and the aches and pains returned. A trip back to SH/FT really helped my body feel better and stronger. I can't thank Tom, Rebecca and all the other trainers enough! Everyone over there has a great, upbeat attitude and they all love helping everyone else out.
Aside from the trainers and the work they do, the overall facility is pretty sweet. There is a ton of great space to work out in, a decent-sized stretching area with foam rollers, a nice area to lounge around pre- or post-workout, and the locker rooms are very clean and sleek. I highly recommend stopping by and seeking out the advice of any of the SH/FT trainers.

SHIFT is great. I've been getting completely individualized 1-1 personal training, with assignments for home routines, for over 6 months. I'm measurably stronger, thanks to Rebecca's outstanding coaching. And the facility is gorgeous, spotless clean, never a crowded and rushed environment.

I first discovered Shift when seeking some strength training to round out my triathlon training routine. Now, almost three years later, every time I leave the Shift gym I thank my lucky stars that Tom and Rebecca decided to set up shop here in Portland. Whether I am looking to energize my morning with an early workout, or unwind and destress after a hard day at work - a session/class at Shift always does the trick.
The gym and the equipment are always clean and the locker rooms (and the entire gym space) are beautiful. When it comes to establishing a sustainable fitness routine, the Shift training team checks all the boxes - theyβre friendly, supportive, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable.
Iβve trained/taken fitness classes at a number of places in Portland - and without question, Shift is my favorite!

Shift is an outstanding "boutique" training center. I say "Boutique" because it is highly personalized training. One of its specialities is training older people to maintain balance and mobility. It is a friendly, intimate center for people who want to work out alone or under the expert instruction of a Shift Trainer.

I have been working out at Shift for the past two years and have been beyond impressed with the total dedication and intense personal focus of the trainers there. I have had knee issues for most of my adult life and have worked out with other trainers over the years but the experience at Shift is totally different. Each training session is personally crafted just for my specific alignment and structural issues and my knee and total body feel the strongest and healthiest that I have felt in years. I have worked with many trainers in my life. Tom, Rebecca, and the Shift team are far and away better than anyone else I've worked with.
I had a lower back injury that Tom understood completely. He mapped out a plan for me to resolve the issues throughout my body that were contributing to the issue and then upon resolution of the spine issue, took me on a journey to a more balanced strength and capacity than I ever knew I could achieve.
He stays on top of his education and the latest techniques to build programs that are fun, challenging, and results-generating. Working out with Tom is a blast.

Shift is more than just a gym or training center. Shift has become a community for me. The instructors and the people that go to small group training have become my friends. Between the personal training and small group classes, I am excited to attend session because it's fun, challenging and improving my health and wellness.
I have been working out at Shift for about 2 years and the change has been incredible for me. We all need to exercise to live a healthy life and I feel fortunate that Shift keeps me motivated and having fun while exercises.

One of my favorite places in Portland to workout! The owners and trainers are knowledgable and constantly staying relevant in the industry - all the while keeping training fun, efficient and effective - couldn't ask for more. The space is beautiful with lots of natural light and high quality amenities, equipment and design details. It's always clean and the community they foster is the best!

Working with the team at Shift has completely changed my endurance, strength and body. Could not recommend anyone more. They are thoughtful, so conscientious and experienced. I saw them work with one client who was training to climb Kilimanjaro, another with recent back surgery, and on it goes. You won't be disappointed!
