Branden, the owner, is the best trainer I've ever worked with. My quality of life has improved tremendously since I started strength training and kick boxing at Ship City Fitness. I came in originally hobbling around on arthritic knees and now I'm able to run up and down stairs again. Thank you, Branden!
It's a no-nonsense gym with a wide variety of equipment, open 24-hours, and affordable. I would recommend this fitness center and Branden as a trainer to anyone.

This is a high quality gym - great selection of weights and machines, sensible layout, and overall killer atmosphere. The owner is super communicative and helpful - even let me in for a day pass on a Sunday! Really enjoying my experience here compared to other gyms in the area (and anywhere for that matter!).

Best gym in the area and here's why:
1. I have tried some gyms and they are great but seem to be niche.
2. This gym is very versatile and accepting.
3. I never feel out of place here.
4. I just show up and do my workout and go home.
5. Did I mention they have a Veteran discount? They support the local community and those who serve.
Thanks for this great gym.

Bad gym if your actually tryna go to the gym. Couldnβt get in all doors locked before and after i bought a 40 dollar membership for only 15 days. Then i tried asking for a refund and the owner Brenden doesn't even get back to you so now i have a membership for a gym i cant get into and no refund or word from the OWNER!

The gym is 24 hours once you have your ID card to enter the building. The owner can also remotely open the door if there is a need. He's almost always around if you need anything. All the gym users are friendly and respectful. Be aware at this gym you always here plates clanging and banging, some people are peeking their own pump in the mirror with a shirt off, even people recording a set to monitor progress. This gym has an amazing culture that is top notch. If you come here, be respectful like everyone else.

This is an excellent gym, and exceeds many margins. I wonβt argue that fact in regards to Ship City, but have to press one major caveat. Ship city is dangerous for light sensitive persons. Multiple ceiling lights hang above some oddly placed hanging fans. These fans produce a strobe-like effect in cetain areas of the gym where heavy and dangerous free-weights are intended to be used. I had my personal friend whom suffers from epilepsy point out how disoriented he felt in this zone. I canβt imagine how horrifying it would be for a gym goer to collapse while hoisting maybe hundreds of pounds of metal on their back. If you plan to go to this gym literally talk to your doctor if you have any sensitivity issues at all and ensure you arenβt at risk. Unless this is fixed by the owner, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SENSITIVE PERSONS BEWARE!!!
Update: 7/25/23
The fans above the squat racks have been disabled. I observe an immediate change in lighting now that the fans donβt strobe the lights above. Thank you Branden, for jumping on this issue. Youβve surely saved an unlucky gym goer or two from an expensive visit to the ER.
Update: 8/13/23 All progress is lost. The fan is back on like nothing ever happened. Shame on you Ship City.

Could not be more satisfied. The facility has everything you could need to reach your goals. The gym also gives off a "grit" vibe. This is a place you go to get fit and surround yourself with people who are there for the same thing. I've been a member since July 2020 and have made tons of progress. The owner is always on sight and just a phone call away for whatever you need. He also offers personal training! Get in there!

First things first, the gym is open 24 HOURS EVERYDAY!!! That is a HUGE plus for me considering I like to work out really late at night. So now I don't have to worry abt going at a certain time of day, and I can go whenever depending on my schedule.
Next, the atmosphere. It's a GREAT space for personal training and small groups. It has all the necessary equipment for an amazing, well-rounded workout.
Then there is Branden, the owner. He always listens to any concerns you may have, and answers any questions as well. He really knows his stuff, and will help you achieve your goal and push you to be your best.
Lastly, it's only $40 a month for all of it. And unlike some other gyms (orange circuit) there is NO hidden fees or anything. What you see is what you pay. Period.
I HIGHLY reccomend this gym for anyone. Whether they are just starting out, or have been working out for a long time.

1- 24 Hour Facility Access. For $40/ month. Yes. Period.
2- Branden, the owner and trainer (there are other trainers), knows his stuff really well, has challenged me, has listened to me when I challenged him (unusual and noteworthy). Branden has also taught me about the long-term view to weather the ups and downs of the scale, and of my strength performance on any given day. I appreciate his even-keeled, calm, encouraging approach.
3- I love that the gym is small. Not so small that I've ever felt crowded, but small enough that we can chat like a community (if we want) if several of us are working out at the same time. (Also totally fine, of course, to not chat at all. But not connecting, I find, is the norm at most gyms.)
3.5- Small enough that I get to choose to play my music over the speakers many times!
4- When I was trying to complete my first 10 pushups, the other 2 guys working out at the time stopped to CHEER ME ON! How cool is THAT?! That's good community right there.
5- Great combo of strength equipment, cardio equipment, new "strong-man" fun toys, plenty of space for stretching on the "grass".
6- When I came to the gym angry and needed to kick the **** out of something, Branden changed my program to include kickboxing that day. Boy, am I ever grateful! Now, it's a REGULAR part of my workout... and also unusually, Branden doesn't over-advise me. He lets me know that if I'm going to continue training, I should learn the right way to do X kind of kick, but unless I'm about to hurt myself, if I just need to kick something, he lets me do that, too.
7- Because of Branden, I would say that Ship City Fitness is the smart way to workout... it's not a fad gym or a flashy gym. It's where you'd go to learn how to move smartly... so you don't get hurt playing with your grandkids, or being at work.

Loved this place
Visited week of the 9th of August 2019 on Vaca from Mass with my family ,I contacted the owner Branden beforehand and asked for temporary membership for my son and I ,which he accommodated immediately, gave us keys and a very clear walkthrough of the gym (24hr) access, and the wifi password and we we're rolling!! If I we're a local resident I would totally support him and encourage anyone that is to do so
Thank you Branden

Probably the best place to accomplish whatever goal you want to set for yourself especially in Maine.
The workouts are sophisticated. Not only that but its also very affordable. Whether you want to go strength training or lose wright or whatever you want to do Branden, the guy who runs this place gotchu.
The martial arts here is legit. Branden's a black belt in Taekwondo and is extremely well versed in the arts of not only fighting, self disciplene, training, but many other aspects as well.
This place is kid friendly but that doesn't mean by any standerds that adults can't be challenged here as well. I know a few teenagers here that could whoop most adults >:). Whether youre a parent trying to get your kid into a sport or just looking for a place to do mma or boxing, this place is right for all skill levels.
Branden, as I mentioned earlier, is a legit black belt and hes also one of the best fighters Ive seen. He also teaches the mma classes and is very knowledgeable.
Whenever this mans Ed Hall pulls up to the dojo/gym you're in for a real treat.

This is a great 24 hour gym with a family oriented atmosphere. The ability to utilize the space as you wish or receive a customized routine for your needs and goals is like no other local gym at reasonable rates. I highly recommend this gym to anyone and everyone along their fitness journey.
