I visited for the first time today as a relative novice (only yoga and mat experience) and can’t say enough about our instructor Ash and the studio. An incredibly fun, funny, thoughtful experience - challenging for students at all levels and approachable for a relative stranger.
Any anxiety I felt coming in melted away as we prepared for then engaged in class. Ash gave great coaching and offered lots of support without making me feel behind or slowing down the pace for more experienced students. I can’t wait to go back and I’m so grateful for the experience today. Strongly recommend visiting especially if you’re the only thing standing in your way!

It was the middle of winter and my bone on bone knee pain was so bad that I could barely walk. I was too young to be a candidate for surgery and PT was not working. I begged my orthopedic doctor for a cortisone shot in my knee and was told it would wear off in 6 weeks. A friend recommended Pilates, and I found Springboard. I told Ash I had 6 weeks to get my legs strong enough to conquer the imminent return of my knee pain. That was 18 months ago and my knee pain never returned. Hiking is my passion, and I was devastated to think that I could no longer trust ever being able to hike long distances again without knee pain. With the compassionate encouragement of Ash, Cait, Cathryn and Meredith, I feel stronger and more flexible than I have in my entire life. I stand up straight, and I trust my legs. I am 48 and my body is moving in ways it never did even in my 20’s!

I recently had the pleasure of spending a week at Springboard Pilates in Portland, Maine, and I can’t recommend this studio highly enough! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The space is beautifully designed, with a clean, modern aesthetic that instantly puts you at ease.
During my visit, I took part in several classes, private lessons, and workshops. The instructors at Springboard Pilates are exceptional—knowledgeable, encouraging, and passionate about helping each student reach their full potential. Their attention to detail and personalized guidance made a significant difference in my practice.
The variety of classes offered was fantastic. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, there’s something for everyone.
One of the highlights was the community vibe at the studio. Everyone, from the staff to the other attendees, was friendly and supportive, creating an environment where you feel motivated and comfortable.
If you’re in the Portland area and looking for a top-notch Pilates experience, Springboard Pilates is the place to go. I left feeling rejuvenated, inspired, and eager to continue my Pilates journey. Thank you, Springboard Pilates, for an outstanding week!

I’ve been coming to Springboard for 8 years, since my physical therapist recommended Pilates after my son was born. The Springboard teachers are amazing! I’m stronger, more flexible, and so much more aware of what my body needs.
I finally convinced my husband to try Pilates about 7 months ago. He was stiff as a board (his words) and reluctant, but the teachers have been so encouraging and supportive. He looks forward to his Springboard mornings now, and our kids have totally noticed the difference! He’s comfortable getting on the floor to play with the kids, he has more energy, and he no longer complains about stiff muscles.

I have been going to springboard for 5 months now after transitioning from CrossFit. My back has never been better, the instructors are fantastic and I am stronger and more stable on the ice as never before. Oh yeah, I'm 73, play in an all ages hockey group and have scored 30 goals this summer which is more than the last 10 years combined. Ron Gan

Springboard Pilates is an excellent place to practice pilates and to get a wonderful workout. I visited Portland for a couple of weeks in July 2023 and purchased a five-pack. I had a fantastic experience each time. Ash, Cathryn, and Cait are all excellent instructors--knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. Cait's "Slowburn Reformer" class is a particularly intense and wonderful workout that left me feeling strong and balanced. I can't wait to return on my next trip to Portland.

I LOVE Springboard. I came from a contemporary pilates background and was a little nervous about going classical. Starting off with the two 1:1 sessions was great and I moved into weekly classes easily. All of the instructors are AMAZING and the community at the studio reflects that. I highly recommend Springboard and getting into pilates in general. It is a super fun way to workout and build strength. There is a lot of variety in classes and it never gets boring. Always the best parts of my week (even at 8am on a Monday). ❤️❤️❤️

It took me almost 3 years to muster the courage to walk into this magical space. At the encouragement of my Los Angeles neurosurgeon with whom I had three spinal surgeries, I had finally walked past the lovely entrance, with daily encouraging messages on the sign board outside, one time too many. I scheduled a consultation for myself and my husband. That decision might count among the best I've made in decades :-) EVERYONE at Springboard is remarkable... Such warmth, authenticity, professionalism, humility, and the ENERGY! The VIBE! Every minute is just so positive!
I'm stiff. And clutzy. And I've never taken a single Pilates class. No problem! Every instructor I've/we've had a class with or taken a lesson from (Meredith , Cathryn, Pam, Ash) is amazing. There is absolutely NO judgement, either from the instructor or from fellow class members. Not once have I felt I was holding anyone back. Corrections are made discreetly and the focus on form is priority one. I honestly never for a minute thought that I could enjoy exercising so much that I have to work to limit the classes I'm signing up for... Four or five days a week? I'm obsessed.
Now if only I could reclaim those three years...

Springboard Pilates is a key component of my injury recovery. The teachers are well trained, knowledgeable and enjoyable. I am stronger, more flexible, have greater mobility. My physical confidence has grown dramatically. Springboard Pilates is also supportive of those of us who are not natural athletes, a great environment.

I started at Springboard in the fall of 2021 at the recommendation of my massage therapist. I had re-injured my lower back for the 3rd time and she told me that pilates could help me heal and develop and maintain strength so that I would stop injuring it. I started with privates lessons with Ash and it has helped me so much! She's worked diligently with me, teaching me SO much about the nuances of my body, how to engage the right muscles, how changing the tiniest part of your configuration can help you do that so you stop aggravating the muscles you don't want to (e.g., like how pressing down your pinky toe can help keep you out of your hip flexors). She knows SO much about how the body works, and you can tell gets excited when you share how yours is reacting to a movement. If I tell her I'm feeling something in my hip, for example, she'll call it "good data," chronicle it mentally for future workouts, and then have me make adjustments.
I started going for my lower back but have seen significant benefit with my shoulders. I've always suffered with migraines from shoulder tension, but struggled to strengthen the right muscles in my upper back to prevent using the wrong one (and cause that tension). Now that I do pilates I am engaging the RIGHT muscles there to build strength and prevent tension.
Ash is amazing! Everyone that teaches at Springboard is fantastic. To say my life has changed would be an understatement. I now walk taller, can lift things more easily without back pain, feel the correct muscles engaging when I do everyday things, and, my clothes fit better! Added bonus. :) Plus, the energy there is so fun and enjoyable. I go 4-5 times a week and never want to stop!

I love getting to work with the instructors at Springboard. Their command of the Pilates method and their passion for healing is unparalleled in my experience. I mostly take virtual classes but have also traveled hours to Maine to work with their wonderful TPC trained instructors. Meredith is the owner and one of my favorite instructors. She also offers "pilates off the mat" coaching sessions which I encourage anyone to look into if you're looking for guidance from a wise, nurturing, and encouraging source.

I moved to Portland about two and a half years ago and was hoping that I could find a great, classical Pilates studio. Springboard was–and remains–the answer. Meredith and her staff are skilled, sensitive, and fun. Meredith, especially, has an intuitive sense of what the body in front of her needs–the hallmark of a great Pilates teacher.
I recommend Springboard to anyone who wants to feel better, move better, or look better. Beginners to advanced, no matter how long–or how little–you’ve sat on the sofa, there’s a class or workout here for everyone. What you won’t find is elitism or snobbery–you’ll never feel judged or like you’re in a competition.
On a personal note, I was stricken with stage 3 bladder cancer last year, and struggled to find my way back to health. With patience, steady encouragement, and a ton of kindness, Meredith has overseen my slow and painful return to form. As much as I am grateful for my life, I am grateful to Meredith for helping me return to it.

The Reset package Andrea and Meredith offer is inspired and inspiring. They are awesome - intensely focused on watching and listening to me and my body. They bring an amazing skill set to the table, releasing some really naggy spots in my body during our session and giving me things to work on at home. I highly recommend this particular service, and both of them as individuals. Thank you!

I have been going to Springboard for about four years. It has seriously changed my life and my body for the better! I had never done Pilates before I went to Springboard for the first time. I was out of shape and had problems with some of my joints. Ashley was my first teacher, and she was amazing! Like all the teachers at Springboard, Ashley was meticulous and careful to watch me closely and to teach me the right way to do the exercises so that I would be safe and get the most out of each movement. From the first lesson, I was hooked, and I have been going regularly ever since. I have worked with many of the teachers, and they are all stellar!! Pilates is the only exercise I don’t hate, and it has helped so much with the function and alignment of my body. I feel better than I ever have. The teachers are so inspiring and attentive, and everyone there is very supportive and body positive. The studio is immaculate, the classes are fun, the attention to each individual is unparalleled. I will never go anywhere else!!!!

Springboard Pilates has truly changed my life. I was at a low point when I walked into the cozy West End studio and instantly felt at home. Even though my pilates experience was limited, the instructors warmly welcomed me and patiently helped me grow my physical strength, self-confidence and personal serenity. After a year of working weekly at Springboard, my body is noticeably more limber and lithe. I can do so much more on the equipment than I ever thought possible. I suppose that I do look fitter and slimmer, but honestly those results feel secondary to the peace of mind I have gained through regular practice. I highly recommend Springboard to anyone who is looking for an intimate exercise environment with highly knowledgeable teachers. It is an exceptional community!

I've taken a lot of different classes through the past few years at Springboard with many different teachers, and I've had such a great experience there with every class. I began as a total newbie and eventually was able to join the advanced mat flow class, and all along the way, Meredith and Cathryn and the other teachers have given me incredible support and feedback. Doing Pilates with these classically trained teachers has changed the way I move and relate physically to the world. I can't say enough good things about my experience there. I love Springboard!

This place is awesome. I've been going for ten years and consider my work there an essential part of keeping my back (two operations) healthy. Not only are the instructors nice, fun, and patient, as a group they take their profession seriously and are always working to improve their practice and understanding of the body. They always ask questions about what feels good that day, what doesn't feel good, and make sure that the class fits what you need.
I highly recommend Springboard Pilates. Your body will benefit tremendously, your spirit will be fed with good vibes, and you will gain lifelong friends!

When you hear stories about Pilates changing your body, it is because of places like Springboard. The dedication of the instructors to your form and movement is incredible and truly does make a difference in not only your body shape, but they way you are connected to it.
My consultation with Ashley was insightful and spot on. From the group classes to the private lessons, every moment spent at Springboard is time (and money) well spent.

Springboard Pilates is one of those places that makes me incredibly glad I live in Portland. The instructors approach every session with a thoughtful curiosity about how our bodies are working and how Pilates can improve our strength, flexibility, balance, outlook, and how our bodies relate to the space around us. I am confident when I get on skis, skates, play tennis, or take up any out-of-the ordinary activity because of my work at Springboard Pilates. Each instructor combines a level of professionalism with a healthy sense of humor that has kept me returning for 10 years. I leave every session with not just new strength and flexibility but a fresh perspective in my mind. I can't recommend Springboard enough.

Are you ready to be strong and toned? Springboard Pilates is for you. I have certain physical limitations, I was weak for the first time in my life. I've been working out at Springboard for approximately 4 years and I feel strong again. The instructors at Springboard are amazing! They are well trained, welcoming and knowledgeable. They care about how your body is feeling and work you out accordingly. It's nice to get a workout without it hurting...it's challenging, satisfying and there is so much more to learn! Check out Springboard, you won't regret it:)

I had always wanted to take Pilates, but never felt comfortable in big groups. I decided to give this place a try because they offered small classes. The woman teaching my session was Ashley Salisbury, who from their website description of instructors, was someone who "enjoys working with people who are trying to lose weight and manage chronic pain". I thought she would be a good fit for me because I wanted to do Pilates for weight loss.
The studio itself was nicely decorated with exposed brick and wood floors, but Ashley was NOT nice at all and was rather unpleasant from the moment I walked in. Despite her attitude being a real turn-off, I decided to ignore it and give the class a try.
During my class, I asked her if I were doing the exercise correctly and she snapped at me in an annoyed tone; I was astounded. Pilates was supposed to be encompass positive energy but yet this woman was miserable. I was trying to keep up with her movements and realized that she was almost purposely going at a quicker pace, thus to confuse me.
I finally had to stop her and ask if I was performing the exercise correctly because it felt uncomfortable. I wanted to make sure my positioning was ok to avoid an injury. She again, snapped back a response and was completely unsympathetic and was unwilling to help me. Those who are teaching Pilates class, or any other exercise for that matter, should be willing to help and GUIDE you; NOT be nasty and unkind.
If you are looking for a new place for Pilates, I'd recommend staying clear from Ashley Salisbury at Springboard Pilates. She was by far, the WORST exercise instructor I've ever encountered!
