I like this gym, it has a good array of equipment even if it’s a bit dinged up and isn’t too busy. The staff is always super nice. The only issue is the cleanliness- it’s consistently pretty dirty with dirt and dust all over the floor and around the floor mat areas. Many of the less used machines are also covered in dust. If they kept up on cleaning every day it would be a 5/5 for me.

Place is extremely run down. Owner charges a 50$ equipment fee but doesn’t seem to re invest it back into the place. Some equipment is broken , locker rooms are run down , ceiling has been leaking on and off for years , missing mirrors ,and just a sad looking place . Going to switch as soon as I can

New to this gym .

Bought annual membership after moving from Scarborough area and going to large gym there.

Pros:
- It has everything a gym should have . No more and no less.
- people are nice

Cons:
1) Dirty / dusty
2) Outdated and dirty bathrooms
3) broken faucet

3 stars: With more cleaning and updated bathrooms it could be better . Would change if the above was addressed

I have been coming to Fitness Factory for a little over a year now. My life has changed in so many ways from becoming a member of this gym. Not only are the people who work here incredibly nice, knowledgeable, helpful, and overall great people, but the other members are amazing as well! Everyone is very friendly and supportive. I have made lifelong friends at this gym and picked up a lifelong passion for fitness.

They have all the equipment you could need or ask for, and a lot of equipment that you can’t find at most gyms in the area. They have every type of bar you could need, plenty of weights, tons of equipment, and all the machines you could think of. They offer the perfect amount of cardio machines and options that don’t overpower the other equipment like most gyms. They have plenty of space throughout the gym with mats to stretch and workout. They offer deadlift platforms, various squat racks, and plenty of benchs. They even offer a chalk bowl and allow you to carry around gym bags (unlike most gyms in the area).

The sign-up process is quick and easy, and there are no hidden fees in the process. They are very straightforward about the pricing and the yearly equipment upgrade fee. There is no cancellation fee as well, which is great.

The girls locker rooms are kept clean at all times and even have amazing showers! I love the 24/7 access, it really is great not having to rush a workout if i go later in the day.

Another thing I love about this gym is being able to purchase shakes, sports drinks, snacks, pre workout, and creatine at the front desk.

The community at this gym is so amazing and I am very lucky to be a part of such a great gym!

Not for serious athletes. Hidden fees, facility random shuts down with no communication given, and they charge beyond cancellation. Worst gym experience I've had in maine.

Additional info:

I clearly caused a tizzy at FF by giving honest feedback. No surrounding gyms I’ve been to have “maintenance fees” or cancellation fees, only commitments and sometimes start-ups.
I was told I wouldn't be charged the maintenance fee when I initially signed up due to the construction going on inside, of course I was. You have start-up, maintenance, and cancellation, on top of the monthly fee.

That being said, maintenance fees for what? Disgusting bathrooms, holes in walls, dust everywhere, poorly maintained water fountains, poorly maintained equipment, unusable equipment, random sections just tapped off due to forever continuing “renovations,” etc etc. I’ve literally had a treadmill shut off on me in the middle of running because it was faulty.

There is no notice given in advance or when something occurs that impacts operations. No use of social media platforms or emails. Just a piece of paper on the door, but at this point a member has already driven there and now has to find other alternatives rather than planning ahead. This has happened numerous times. Also when I asked if there was a bathroom alternative, I was told the parking lot...

Any athlete that takes their craft seriously is unable to rely on this place for a serious regiment. I’m not the first with these complaints and most likely won't be the last. To each their own.

Overall, we had a pleasant experience going here for two years. The staff is all very polite and helpful. And it’s a good value for the membership cost. The equipment is definitely older but works well. They’ve been renovating it for over a year so there’s been a lot of changes. It does get very crowded around 5 PM to the point where it’s pretty hard to get on the machines you want. Lastly, the parking lot can be an absolute nightmare in the evening because there’s also a swim school and a dome in the same parking lot. With everyone trying to take left-hand turns out of the parking lot sometimes there’s over 40 cars waiting in line, I’ve spent over 30 minutes sometimes just trying to get out of the parking lot

This gym is great! The price is very cheap and you get a great amount of equipment to use. It never seems to be too busy no matter when I go. They have a large variety of different and specialty barbells to choose from, plenty of squat racks, and plenty of room to deadlift. There are plenty of dumbell benches, and the dumbells go up to the 150s. Plus, there are a set of 195 lbs dumbells. With plenty of great free weights, machines, and cardio equipment, this gym would be great for most people's fitness goals!

Tried it after Life Styles Gym went out of business on Warren Avenue in Portland. Best gym -in my opinion. When I tried it, it just did not. have that Life Style personal touch. They did put in new Equipment at some point which was nice. The TVs are NOT on the individual machines so hard to enjoy. The classes which I loved, and the main reason I went to the gym, have been eliminated. I went to them at 5 am before working full time... now they are no more. Very sad about that. Overall I guess I would give it an average score since it does not meet everyones needs; since the day care has been eliminated and the classes have been eliminated. The prices are not cheap like planet fitness either, you would think with no classes or day care care, they would be able to lower the prices. The gym is near where I live, so if they did do classes again, I would reconsider.

In the area for work and needed a place to get a lift in. The front desk agent, Rudy, was extremely kind and accommodating to me. If you want to push iron and yell, this gym is right for you. And the prices are fairly reasonable. Otherwise, don't expect the owner or staff to help with any issues, or for personal training. Expect very poor condition of much of the exercise equipment (none has been upgraded since the ownership change in 2013), the unavailability of comfortable TV viewing, the closing of their childcare and cycling rooms, and surliness or unfriendliness from the staff when you walk in. Many members do not wear their masks properly while using the gym, thus putting other members at risk during this pandemic. There is no hand sanitizer available, so they insist on everyone wiping down the machines.

Frankly, this gym has been slowly falling apart since I was last a member, over five years ago, even before the pandemic started, with no money going into making the place bright, clean, inviting, and functional. Even the driveway is in disrepair.

I've been going to this gym for many years. In general I like the vibe there and the staff is generally friendly and helpful. They have a good selection of equipment and it's familiar. The problem... The showers have not been working consistently for many years. I'd say one out of six showers ends up being cold. Why I've put up with this I don't know. I speak with the manager and he starts to tell me about how much trouble it's been for him. Honestly I don't want to hear about his troubles after I've had to get dressed again dripping with sweat after another unsuccessful shower. I'm going to start investigating other gyms. Not having a reliable shower is a deal breaker for me.

Very nice gym. Just dropped by for a day pass. Cool people here and they have a dedicated strength training room. 4 or so nice squat racks, platforms and bumper plates, Westside Power Bars, chains, and some other strong lifters present. They have lots of machines and stuff too. Very nice and well equipped gym. One of the best Ive ever been to.

The Fitness Factory factory offers big city amenities with a convenient location. The equipment is excellent and I rarely have to wait for a rack or machine since their is a surplus. The staff is friendly and approachable. I haven't taken any of their classes, but they always appear well attended. The owners are currently renovating some aspects of the gym and it only continues to get better.

Good gym although it needs more power racks, at the moment it only has 3 and one squat rack. Not a casual fitness club like pf or anytime fitness (anytime will give you cancer, not joking). The only comparable gym to this massive place is Dyna-maxx which is a tiny room, but both are good for actual strength training. If you are a complete noob, I would recommend Dyna-Maxx because only the strong work out there and they are more than willing to show you the ropes. FF is a good gym, but it still caters to the casual, non-strength minded person, i.e someone who wants to strictly lose fat without gaining performance. I see it as a good hybrid between a real gym and a casual fitness club. Still wish there were at least two more power racks

I have been to many gyms in my life and have been pleased and surprised at the professionalism at the fitness factory. I have been out of shape and in shape and yet regardless of how I looked or what my goals were the people at the gym were happy to help me out. I can't say enough positive things about this gym. It truly feels like a true fitness place where anyone regardless of their shape or health can achieve their goals. They have helped me maintain my 150 lbs weight loss for years. Good gym for a no nonsense kind of work out. Equipment includes multiple power racks, benches (including a power lifting bench), machine to train neck, machine to train forearms and even a large tractor tire. A poster of Schwarzenegger in his prime hangs on the wall...
So basically this is a place where a hard core work out is easily found. If you are into old school, unfiltered, no bs training - welcome home.

The Fitness Factory is pretty ok. You can lift big weight, grunt and use chalk and no one cares. This is not gym for wussies or newbies. You will be judged. If you are tired of all that fitness BS and just want to push iron you’ll love it here. The only problem is there are to many newbies at night and they get in your way. But thats ok cause they never last long.

I have been a longtime member of this gym since the days of Lifestyles Fitness and I can say it is no longer the same. Since the gym has began to offer low introductory rates the facility has become filled with riffraff. Perhaps the new lower cost is why the gym cannot fix any of the cardio equipment when it brakes. Yet, I truly believe all the gyms new problems can be attributed to the three new owners. The first is a former bouncer who is not customer service oriented, the second carries on a feminist philosophy and feels she must continuously as well as erotically insert her dominance and third is simply clueless. Needless to say, I will not renew my membership when it expires at the end of the year.
