Lovely light filled studio, a superb selection of classes with epic teachers, space to shower and regroup before you head out. Friendly, open, relaxed space. Deep sigh :)

This is a cool space with ample free street parking. Many classes to choose from. The place has a hip vibe, but doesn't have the competitive fitness vibe that can sometimes accompany that--lots of ages and abilities. If you go to Bom Dia before or after a class you get a 10% discount!

I have been a student at this studio for a little over a year. Like the Forest Ave location, this yoga studio has many thoughtful teachers and a lovely rhythm to the classes, some with more energy and others with more calm. I love how thoughtfully designed this space is, with the beautiful stations downstairs, the showers and changing rooms, and they have really thought of everything you might need. It's always clean and it feels like such a safe, welcoming place. Highly recommend.

I am from Boston and frequently work in Portland, I was looking for a studio and came across the Portland Yoga project and a gentle yoga class. It was a great class and enjoyed the facility and will be trying some of the others classes when I am in the area. Clean, and some nice folks

I dropped in on a yoga class while I was in Portland for work. The studio is beautiful and the class was just the break I needed. I appreciated the free loaner mat.

Beautiful studio! I typically go to the Forest Ave location as itβs closer to home, but my fav studio is the downtown location. Love the set up and decor. The owners and instructors are so wonderful, kind, welcoming. I canβt say enough good things!

Love this studio, the teachers and how many classes are on the schedule. And now that there's a second location downtown, there are even more options to practice yoga and barre. I highly recommend!

Long version: I started going to the Forest Ave PYP in 2021. I was running a lot then, so Yoga and the therapy ball Rolling/Mobility classes were awesome to stretch out on recovery days. Then later when I was pregnant, the Yoga for Core and Pelvic Floor and Prenatal Yoga were great, and (modified) barre was one of the few workouts that felt good to un-ache my achy body. Post-pregnancy, the Build and Matte classes have been amazing to get my strength and body back. I love that every instructor has a βyou do youβ vibe, so Iβve never felt weird doing my own thing when for whatever reason a particular class/sequence/position wasnβt what I needed that day. I recently brought my mom - who has had two knee replacements, a lot of aches and pains, and a fear of doing yoga in public - to a yin class at the Newbury St PYP, and she had such a positive experience. Over the last 4 years my workouts have changed so much, and there have always been classes at PYP that felt right. Iβm so glad they opened this new location to make more classes and times available.

I've been a long time member of PYP, but I tend to frequent their Forest Ave location. However, the downtown location is nothing if not an extension of the beautiful community that is Portland Yoga Project. The space is stunning with large windows that allow natural light in during classes and feels very open. There is plenty of street parking and it's so nice to be able to easily pop to a coffee shop or restaurant post Sunday morning Barre class. Highly recommend!

The new downtown studio is small and lovely. They offer yoga, barre, build (a 30 minute weight class), and matte (I think it's like pilates). Depending on the time of day, parking can be a little tricky so I've learned to give myself an extra 10 minutes.

I'm glad this opened as it's convenient to walk to from where I live and there aren't very many options within walking distance of Munjoy Hill. The space itself is beautiful, well kept, and well decorated. There are some things re: physical space that could use improvement and seem to be in progress, such as more bathrooms available. I have taken a few different classes at the Downtown location so far, each with a different instructor. The classes seem consistent regarding "difficulty" level regardless of instructor. I like that there is variation, although I feel like there are too many barre/matte classes and I'm not a fan of barre. Some classes can be crowded, so arriving early is necessary. All of the staff are laid back, welcoming, and friendly. Workout classes in general can be intimidating and there can be a cliquey attitude, but thankfully that is not the case here. I felt welcome by staff and other class participants. I am super thankful that there are mats available for use since I'm walking and want to carry as little as possible. Overall, this is a great yoga studio and I enjoy going there immensely. The pricing is fair it's definitely worth it for a monthly membership. I'm giving four stars instead of five because I think there could be some minor improvements: the aforementioned bathroom situation, more class time offerings outside of work hours (ex: I wish there were a 4:30 Gentle Yoga or Vinyasa), and perhaps a cap on attendees for any given class that is slightly fewer people as it can be difficult to find a spot if you arrive just before the start time of class.

PYP is a welcoming, thoughtful place to practice yoga. I'm excited that they have expanded so I can take more classes with my favorite teachers. Notably, I have never had a problem parking in the Downtown location. There are many other places to practice yoga in the Greater Portland area, but I have been loyal to PYP because they are rigorous, consistent, and care about the community. The tiered-pricing allowed me to continue to take classes as I went to grad school.

The Portland Yoga Project recently expanded to a second location at 129 Newbury St Portland Maine. The new space exceeds expectations as it is truly exceptional while also being a real delight aesthetically. It requires more than one visit to absorb the entirety of the features offered. There are instructors common to both locations but with Newbury St having a new Yoga instructor on their schedule with over 20 years experience who is remarkable. Like their Forest Ave location there is matte, barre, build and multiple variations of yoga with some of the latter featuring mindful tweaks.Though this location is further from my residence than their Forest Ave location(.3 miles Forest Ave v 1.6 miles Newbury), while being a non driver, I find the journey well worth it.

My favorite yoga/barre studio downtown. The forest ave location got me hooked to PYP and having this BEAUTIFUL studio now downtown will keep me a member forever!! You can just tell how much thought and time went into every single detail. The barre classes still have the intensity and fun I love while the yoga classes make me feel grounded and refreshed :)

The new space is gorgeous and warm in design. It felt a little bit cramped/bottleneck-y in the coat room walking up the stairs to the classroom; perhaps making another classroom downstairs? I'm not sure about another coat room location to help with the squeeze - the space overall is gorgeous!

The new Portland Yoga Project's downtown location is fantastic! The space itself is gorgeous and thoughtfully designed. The yoga instructors are amazing and each class from yoga, to matte, to barre is so individual with tons of modifications for those with injuries or just a beginner. I have been a yogi for years and I am loving the new studio.

I recently relocated to Portland and had taken the past 6 months off from working out. I was looking to get back into my yoga practice, and much to my surprise, found that PYP was opening a studio within a short walk from my place, so I took advantage of the '30 days for $30' promotion for new members and I am so glad I did.
1st, the studio is beautiful with the huge windows that allows the natural light to pour in. There are huge ferns hanging from the ceiling and many potted plants on the window sills. There are more than enough weights, belts, bolsters, etc for all participants all neatly stacked on open shelving or hidden in drawers. Once class starts, the antique barn doors glide shut. I mention this because all of the other yoga classes I've attended have either been held in a gym environment where you hear clanking weights, or in a school/church basement...neither of which puts you in that zen state of mind.
PYP is thoughtfully DESIGNED to put you in the right state of mind from the moment you enter the building where someone always welcomes you to the studio.
Now, for the classes offered... I've taken Barre, PYP build, PYP matte, Hatha yoga and Yin yoga all with different instructors and I'd be hard pressed to pick my favorite class or instructor...they are ALL fabulous!
I will definitely be joining as a regular member once my 30 day intro is up. If you're looking for a great yoga experience, whether you're new to it or not, you should definitely check out PYP....you'll be glad you did!

SO happy to have a new yoga/barre studio right off India Street! PYP is incredibly warm and invitingβafter only a handful of classes, instructors remembered me as I come in through the door. They are very inclusive of everyone's pace while keeping classes interesting and challenging. I'm also happy to report that PYP has impeccable music taste! π
I signed up for the 30 day trial and will be signing up for a full membership. Though I don't need it, it's nice to see that PYP offers a tiered "pay what you can" model for memberships.

I have been loving Portland Yoga project, they have been making me fall in love with movement again. I signed up for the $30 for 30 days deal. Which is such a steal and Ive been taking full advantage of it. My only regret is signing up so close to Christmas! Welcoming business, clean space, ample parking on the forest ave location, and positive vibes.
