Focusing on high quality 2-4 person small groups and private 1 on 1 training sessions. We utilize the scientific principles of strength training to create our program, and help our people achieve their goals and get the most progress that is possible!

I never thought I would like personal training, I didn't like the idea of being scrutinized while I work out or having someone constantly telling me what to do. But the small group training model used at Vigor is great. You get as much coaching and instruction as you want/need without the pressure. I worked with Julian and he is approachable, knowledgeable and supportive. Every session is different and also tailored to the group. He makes modifications to each exercise for each participant to ensure everyone gets a customized experience based on their fitness level or any injuries/physical limitations. I highly recommend Julian and Vigor Strength Studio!

The new Gorham location is great, with tons of additional workout space and equipment. For the past year, I have been taking group classes directed by Jaryd. My husband and I have been training with Jaryd and it’s been a great experience for both of us. I came to Vigor three months ago new to weight lifting, feeling physically unwell and worried about exacerbating some old injuries that have plagued me the last four years.
Enter Vigor and coach Jaryd. I’m three months in and feel strong (probably stronger than I’ve ever felt) and confident in being able to push myself knowing that Jaryd is looking out for me. Jaryd has been great at guiding me on ways to avoid re-injury with modifications as needed but also in helping me build strength in areas needed to prevent future reoccurrence.
Anyone who is questioning whether joining Vigor is worth it, I can say hands down it’s been transformative for me and well worth it. Thanks for all you do Jaryd and Vigor team!

I’ve been training with Jaryd For just over a year now, and for the past four months, my 15-year-old son has been joining me. The experience has been nothing short of outstanding. Jaryd is hands down one of the best trainers I’ve ever worked with. His coaching goes way beyond the generic cues I’ve heard from other trainers that I’ve worked with in the past from different gyms. He’s technical and observant in a way that helps you keep improving every session. But what I appreciate just as much is that he actually cares. He pays attention, gets to know you, and makes you feel like a person, not just another client passing through. His feedback is always supportive and individualized. First time going to a personal trainer and I'm very glad I decided to go with Vigor. I've been going for a couple weeks at this point and I can already see large improvements in my form and progress has been smooth. I joined a semi-private training group a little over a month ago at Vigor. The semi-private training group I am in is trained by Jess two days per week. I highly recommend joining a group if you can! Not only do you get more bang for your buck, but it’s also motivating to train with others! My group includes other moms which I love! Jess is very knowledgeable and her number one priority is safely achieving attainable goals!
The new location in Gorham is fantastic! The Vigor community is growing and for good reason. Everyone I’ve encountered there has been friendly and welcoming. I am so happy with my decision to join!

Cali does my gym programming (I’ve only been to Vigor once and it is a badass gym!) and I cannot say enough amazing things about her knowledge. I’ve always been an athlete but I haven’t been able to be consistent with my weight lifting in many years. Cali started programming for me in January and I’ve been consistent every week since then because her programs are SO engaging, fun, and perfectly challenging. She is super responsive and helps me with all my insane questions with videos or pictures so I can really understand form. I cannot recommend Cali and Vigor more! 10/10!

I started working out at Vigor at the beginning of 2024. It had become clear to me that a lot of my aches, pains, and even anxiety were stemming from my lack of physical fitness, so I looked around for a local gym. When I found Vigor, I sent them an email right away. Zach got back to me within hours and told me Jaryd would contact me about an introductory visit. Jaryd wanted to understand both where I was in terms of fitness, as well as where I wanted to go. I ran my first sprint triathlon last year, and my performance was terrible. Working with Jaryd has made me stronger and increased my range of motion all around. His focus on my goals has enabled me to run, bike, and swim farther than I could have imagined possible in just a few months. I feel stronger overall, and I look leaner and more defined. I cannot recommend Jaryd or Vigor enough. They are inclusive and respectful. I have made friends with my workout groups (I do the 4-5 person sessions, so I get to workout with a small group) and I genuinely look forward to my training. The folks I train with represent every age group, and every fitness level. Jaryd always gives progressions for each shared exercise so we each are challenged appropriately, in addition to our “main lift” for each workout. My workouts now provide a stability and focus that I was not expecting, and they have honed and strengthened my focus on my own health, both physical and mental.
I actually enrolled at another gym at the same time I started at Vigor, because I wasn’t sure what format I would prefer. This other gym has much larger groups and is more HIIT-oriented. For many years, I assumed that in order to lose weight and become fit, you have to do a ton of cardio. Weight training was never really a focus for me. Within a few weeks it became perfectly clear that this other gym was a large corporation, profit driven and focused on branding and image, while largely lacking the personal focus I was hoping for. Huge contrast with Vigor, where Jaryd provided a customized training plan and carefully explained how we would achieve my specific fitness goals. The weight training at Vigor focuses on form and safety, so you can achieve those gains quickly yet without injury. Vigor is a smaller business that puts customers first and will help you achieve your goals. If you’re on the fence about which gym to try, go with Vigor.

I’ve worked with a trainer at Vigor since the Fall of 2023 and am very impressed with the facility. First off, the staff are professional and friendly, always greeting me by name when I come through the door. The layout of the gym, though small, is well organized and maintained (it’s clean and does not smell like a gym!) and there is a good supply of equipment. The trainers I’ve worked with have been top notch. They’ve patiently explained each exercise and the muscle group I would be working on and would modify exercises as needed for my body’s limitations. I really like the fact that I receive focused attention during my sessions, being observed 360° so I can receive feedback if I’m not in proper position to avoid hurting myself. My only complaint is that, as an older person, I’m not thrilled with their choice of background music! Otherwise, I look forward to my gym time and am glad I found Vigor. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking to do strength training with a trainer, privately or in a group.

I'd give them six stars if I could. I've been lifting here twice a week for the last year plus, and it's become an essential part of my routine. My coaches, Zach and Cali, are absolutely phenomenal. Zach has been instrumental in helping me regain strength and mobility in my knees after a serious accident that led to a cadaver knee replacement some years ago - I had honestly almost given up on ever being able to fly down a set of stairs again, but his expertise and focus on proper form and technique have made a world of difference in my recovery. I climbed Kilimanjaro a couple of months ago, and my legs felt strong and capable the entire time.
Cali is not only a fantastic coach but also an incredible motivator.
She has an almost casual way of assuming that you can do anything she puts in front of you that helps you think you can, too. She also does some body work - I've had her cup and scrape my legs, and while it was torturous, I felt much better after.
Both Zach and Cali have a knack for knowing when to push you and when to listen, and they take any concerns about pain or discomfort seriously. Their whole-body approach, combining lifting, (just a little bit of) cardio, and stretching, ensures that you’re not just getting stronger but also improving your overall fitness and well-being.
I also love the small group format—they keep it challenging, fun, and tailored to everyone’s needs, and it gives you a good sense of camaraderie in finishing. I travel frequently, and they are super flexible and understanding when I need to reschedule. If you're looking for a place where you'll feel supported, challenged, and part of a community, I couldn't recommend Vigor Strength Studio enough!

Can't recommend Vigor enough! I recently had knee surgery to address an old sports injury and was not very confident in my mobility and was hesitant to jump back into strength training. Zach and Cali (as well as the rest of the team) have been so thoughtful about my training. They are a wealth of knowledge in health and exercise science and always customize the workout and make modifications for my ability. They excel at coaching and making folks feel comfortable and confident. While in transition of my workouts (a story that’s long and boring, so I’ll spare you). Julian from Vigor Strength reached out to me after seeing a post I made on the socials, so I went in and checked it out. I am so glad I did.
I was floundering and feeling lost when he reached out. It felt nice to have someone offer to help, but kindness isn’t the only thing that Vigor has to offer-though that goes a long way. The studio is kept very clean. That has not always been my experience with gyms. I felt comfortable from the moment I entered the space-which is also not always the case in a gym or anywhere else for that matter.
I worked with Julian and 3 other women. We were all different in strength and capacity, yet he was able to craft workouts appropriate for each of us. I was very impressed with his ability to accurately assess weaknesses I had based on my gate and/posture, then present strategies to correct those weaknesses. His education combined with what I believe is an intuitive gift he has, will help you be your best.
Without hesitation I can recommend this studio for people of all ages and all fitness levels and goals. The first assessment is always free so go check them out. There’s nothing to lose and so much to gain.

Vigor is great. I had tried a some other gyms and trainers around Westbrook and Vigor is by far the best, most inclusive, and approach place around. Whenever you walk in, it looks like a snapshot of the community as opposed to other $10/month charging, lunk alarm having gyms where huge beefcake people roam around like lions intimidating their prey. I was looking for a place where I could come in and feel comfortable learning and Vigor has absolutely delivered. If you decide to give Vigor a try, be sure to ask about Cali's Finisher Fridays!

I initially sought out Julian after recognizing how sedentary my lifestyle had become due to several chronic injuries and the associated atrophy. I have to say I am very impressed with the knowledge and the interaction I have with my trainer I can talk to Julian and tell him what I need to work on to help my body adjust to work situations (I am 64 don’t tell anyone)and we adjust my workouts. My 23 year old son works out with me and Julian is the only trainer who can help him understand how to do the exercises but makes it truly fun for him keeps it interesting for him I highly recommend this place

Excellent gym no matter what your fitness level. I've been working with Zach for quite a while now and my sessions are just as much physical therapy as strength training. I am very active outside of the gym as well, leading to many tight muscles and injuries here and there. The best place to start. No scales, no tape measures, no forms to categorize you, just help. Wherever you want to be physically they can help you get there, all without the metric tracking and with all the support. I'm three years in with one of the founders and the results are "interesting", I'm moving heavier weights than I ever have and physically pain free at 43 years old. Vigor Strength Studio is the real deal. Exercise and strength training has always been a part of my life. A couple of years ago, I underwent treatment for cancer and I have struggled to find my way back. The treatments robbed me of my strength. I also suffered loss of muscle mass. Chelsea and Cali are working with me 3 mornings a week. We are lifting in a slow, controlled manner along with a lot of proper stretching. I’ve been lucky enough to train with 4 of the coaches at Vigor. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable, supportive, and they put together great programs. I’ve trained mostly with Julian and it never ceases to amaze me that he can coach multiple people on different exercises at the same, while also combining our workouts. He’s great at coaching around injuries, and he always has a solution to any problem that comes up.
