Vision Quest Muay Thai is a hidden gem where some of Central Maine’s best fighters train day and night, yet it remains a warm, welcoming place for anyone eager to learn. Coach Primo and the entire team are outstanding ambassadors of the sport, and their passion and expertise shine through in everything they do.

When I first walked through the door, I knew nothing about Muay Thai. I could barely touch my toes and had no idea how to train. The team met me exactly where I was, encouraging me every step of the way. The camaraderie here is genuine: if you come in with an open mind and a willingness to learn and work hard, you’ll find a supportive crew that truly cares about your progress and will help you reach your goals.

Every class brings something new. You never know what combination you’ll be learning next and each session adds to a growing foundation of knowledge you can draw from and refine over time. On top of all this, it's fun! And almost guaranteed that new you will be able to fight old you.. and win.

An excellent Muay Thai gym that has a great atmosphere and culture with incredible coaches. Owner and Head Coach Primo is exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate about muay thai, boxing, kick Boxing, and MMA and will meet you at your level to help you improve in your skills with great insights and personalized advice to help make you stronger and more efficient in your movements and technique. Coach Tim is also incredibly knowledgeable in martial arts/boxing and both have very accessible teaching styles that, although different from one another, allow you to gain practical and interesting knowledge and technique. The gym culture is pretty relaxed, although this doesn't mean you won't be pushed to your limit, the expectation to work hard is always there. A great blend of pushing you to greater endurance, strength, and speed but without harsh or negative attitudes. A very welcoming environment to learn a variety of martial skills and extremely affordable.

I started at VQ a year ago looking for a cool hobby. At 51 I wasn’t sure what to expect. I have had classes with Primo, Tim and Max and they all truly care about their students and want us to do well and improve and spend the time to help us learn and make it a cool atmosphere at the same time. I have not met a single person here with an ego. Everyone here is down to earth and genuinely good people and the vibe is super inviting and inclusive.

I have been working out there for 4 years. When I first started there I Ieft each night sore. As I continued, My pant sized decreased and In spite of being 50, I have a 6 pack abs. The atmosphere is inviting and everyone wants to see each other improve. The coach, Primo, is approachable and really enjoys teaching. Members of the fight team frequently work out in the other group. These team members have taken the time to improve my technique and skill.

My son has been training Muay Thai at VQMT for a few months and loves it. The coaching is excellent, being both beginner friendly as well as providing advanced structure and technique for members with more experience. We've trained BJJ at over a dozen gyms across the country, and the welcoming atmosphere at VisionQuest matches the best of them. If you want to get in better shape or want to make some new friends, please check them out.

We joined Vision Quest in 2022-my whole family. So we had someone in the adult class, someone in the women’s fit class, someone in all the kids classes.

Here’s what I can tell you about the coaches-which is the important thing. Coach Primo has your back, especially if you want to fight. I trust him completely to know if someone is ready to be in the cage. I have watched him train my family and others, and if he says you’re ready, I’m sure you are. If he says you’re not-you’re not. The same is true of the coaches for the kids classes.

I’ve had the chance to work with Primo in a class and privately. When I was injured, he helped me modify the exercises while I healed.

But here’s the thing I like most about Vision Quest: it’s a family. These are good people, and if someone joins who isn’t, they just don’t last. I am honored to be part of this gym, this family, these people.

Join us-you won’t regret it.

My husband found this gym and after the first free class he has been hooked and goes everyday that he can after work. Not to mention my brother and brother in law love this place as well. Classes are offered for younger children and teens as well. Prices are affordable. Coach is knowledgeable and has a lot of experience. I have only heard great things about this place and highly recommend it to anyone who is interested. Just beware you may absolutely love it after your first class.

Regardless of your specific goals, Vision Quest is the place to be. It is a great gym for all ages (kids included!) and skill levels, from absolute beginner to elite fighter.

Coach Primo is extremely skilled and is a host of world-class knowledge. He is great at individualizing his teaching in a way that makes sure all of his students are able to learn and improve.

So seriously, whether you’re looking to work on striking and/or grappling, want to get in shape, work on discipline, learn some self defense, or Muay Thai just seems cool to you, give it a try.

I reviewed this gym three years ago, but given the improvements and the continued success of the gym, it bears getting reviewed again. New location easy to get to. Still the most amazing Coach in the game with unparalleled expertise in all aspects of MMA and conditioning! Perfect for any level of experience including kids! Members are met at their personal level and nurtured a long to reach their goals. The staff that work with the youngsters are amazing and foster self confidence which is priceless in these times. I’ve trained personally for 52 years and a former strength coach for the Florida Marlins baseball team, that said I’ve never seen a coach more thorough or with more knowledge in my career! Hands down the absolute best!

Amazing!! This type of gym is exactly what this area needed!!! You can do 1:1 training or there are evening classes for all ages- men, women and kids-all catered to YOU and your goals/needs!

There’s no doubt that gyms can be intimidating, but the second you walk in here you feel like you’re with family because you are.

There are a lot of other gyms that do similar things, but one thing they don’t have is Primo Bellarosa-his knowledge/experience in what seems like EVERYTHING!

Primo meets you where you’re at in regards to your training and needs. Whether you are in peak condition, or whether you are there to get better shape-He cheers you on. He makes you feel like you are the only one in the room that matters at that time!

I, as the co-founder of the Portland Reavers, have huge appreciation for Primo and VQMT. Primo's early buy-in to our nascent sport and generous use of VQMT's great space has been essential in my club's growth.

VQMT is poised to start a combat sports dynasty in Maine. You should get in on it.

I trained under kru Primo Bellarosa during his time at Westchester Fight Club (VQMT was the muay thai striking program at that gym). Primo is an amazing coach. He has fought, coached, commented and cornered fights all over the world including Thailand and also mayor organizations like bellator glory and UFC. I say that 2 say he knows what he is doing and is passionate about it so if u listen to him you will def become a better fighter (if your just doing it for getting in shape then learning to throw a proper kick punch elbow and knee will be a bonus but u'll def fet in shape). On top of that primo will make it a fun environment where everyone is smiling and laugjing through the workouts and he will listen 2 ur problems...he is a coach who takes the coach fighter relationship 2 heart like few do and even if your nor fighting he treats all his students with that same mentor friend like treatment...if your in the area and either want to be a fighter want to learn to defend urself or just want to lose the quarantine gut i can't recommend it highly enough.

I have trained under Kru Primo for 5 years. I have never met a coach, that's more invested in his students success, safety and improvement, as much as he is. In a manner that will suit you! I've gained a friend and someone I know I can count on. I lost 45 lbs working out with him, grew as a person and learned how to throw a punch!

He is a TRUE world calls trainer and fighter that teaches real Muay Thai. He's been on both sides of the ropes, and knows what it takes to make you what you want to be; Whether that is being a fighter, or just for learn a new technique and be in shape.
Not to mention the variety of combos that seem to never end.
I can not say enough of amazing this man is!

I’ve trained Primo for many years, and he is hands down the best coach I’ve ever had. Between his endless knowledge of the striking arts and his extremely motivating persona and style of teaching, you’ll become a better person and fighter under his guidance. You know you’re getting the best of the best when you just look at his list of extremely successful fighters he has trained over the years. If you’re looking for the michelin 5 star of gyms, Vision Quest Muay Thai is where it’s at.

I personally have been training with Primo Bellarosa since may 2020. I have never had a coach with the level of experience, humbleness and drive as Primo. He is a giant contributing factor to my current road to health (up to 10 lbs down and improved body comp) and I truly feel like i have made a friend for life. If you are on the fence about trying out Vision Quest Muay Thai, stop and just come try a class and see what a world class muay thai instructor looks like
