I am so thankful that I found out about Wilcox! Starting any new fitness journey is a huge commitment but the support and encouragement and accountability and guidance that comes from these amazing staff members is what helps propel you to the next level. Just starting , or re-starting a fitness habit is hard enough, but the support that you receive at Wilcox is unmatched by any other gym I’ve ever been to. Here you are actually coached throughout the entire workout and given feedback on proper form and modifications you can make based on your level of fitness. GREAT place to advance your fitness journey regardless of your age and current fitness level.

Remember those classes where someone worked out at the front of the room and you tried to follow along? No individual coaching, no follow through, no one to correct your form. This is definitely not that.

Each class is lead by a certified instructor who ensures every student is moving in a safe and appropriate manner for their level of fitness, which means you won't be aggravating that cranky shoulder or recently rebuilt knee. The music is great, the camaraderie is genuine and contagious, and the work outs are creative and varied. You WILL move differently, your posture, flexibility, and balance will improve, and you'll feel better in no time.

There's no need to wait until January!

I was looking to get back into shape and hadn't worked out in awhile. I joined Wilcox Fitness Center and the workouts are exactly what I needed to get back in the game. The Instructors do a great job at teaching and guiding you through the warm-ups and the movements of the exercise. You get out what you put in, the competition is with yourself and the Instructors do an outstanding job at correcting your form (if needed) while working out. It's been several weeks since I started and I feel great after every workout. Always looking forward to the next class.

What a transformational experience.

I am thrilled to be part of this community.

I joined the Kick Start program and it was deeply impactful. The combination of a superb menu/ nutrition plan, 3 workouts a week and caring support has been life changing.

The structure of the program along with workouts that focus on correct form, core strength and consistency has been a revelation. This is the most welcoming, and inspiring gym I have ever experienced.

I now eat so much better, even though I was sure I was eating so well before. My portion control is under control and I am much more hydrated. When eating out, it is much less expensive because I now realize that eating less and choosing at most one drink simply feels better. I used to eat a few courses and have 2 drinks, which made me feel overfull. I recognized now that feeling over stuffed feels terrible.

Because I have a routine of self care, that mindset extends into how much and what I eat, how much more we walk and hike and more. I feel and look better.

My husband chose to eat the same menu plan, and he loved it. We both got a “reset”!

As I see my fellow Wilcox fans, many who are middle age and better, I see a much better future for myself. My health outcomes will be much improved, my “future self” is going to be much healthier.

Alison and the team are top notch, soulful and supportive. The program is the best I have ever been part of. I immediately joined the monthly program after the monthlong Kick Start. There is no way I would want to leave this community.

I started exercising 3 weeks ago at Wilcox Fitness Center. I have been pleasantly surprised by the attention given to everyone by the trainers. They pay attention if you do the exercise correctly, so that you don’t go on repeating a movement the wrong way, and maybe hurt yourself. In 3 weeks, I have gained some stamina, improved my muscles tones and now sleep better. I Just came back from leading a trip to Québec and was surprised how well I kept my energy up, walking about 10 miles a day, at my age (72). I do enjoy this new discipline that I am imposing myself with the friendly help of this exercise center.

Compassionate Ass-Whoopin and FUN!

Not sure where to start…. This place is hands down the most intelligent, well thought out, comprehensive, creative, inspiring, motivating fitness organization I’ve ever been a member of. And… I owned one for 20 years back in SF. Yes, it’s that good.
Who am I and why listen? Well, I did that thing above, and I was also a bodyworker for decades, and a physical therapist aide. I’ve been in physical medicine and wellness for most of my life. This place is exceptional.

Allison, Dan, And Bree have created a HIIT program that has me feeling better at 52 than I have in a decade, and that’s only after two weeks as a member. My wife has been a member for a little under a year, and I’m that stubborn donkey that had to watch her change her life through movement and commitment before I could break free of the inertia of pizza, work-fatigue, and “comfort”.

I say comfort in quotes, because I feel better in my skin than I have in a VERY long time. I’m fitting into clothes that I haven’t worn in years, and I have more energy, less fatigue, more optimism about my day, and more capacity for change. Yup… daily movement does that! And, holy mackerel these three are so smart with their programming.

1. It’s SUPER FUN. We’re talking ear to ear smiling while sweating. They are motivating without being cloying or cheer-leaderish. The music is great. The vibe is seriously community oriented. It’s small enough to get to know people, but packed enough to feel the safety and camaraderie of a group.

2. It’s SOOOO SAFE AND SMART. These three aren’t just gym rats who bark orders and push you to the point of Rhabdomyolisis. They’re deeply anatomically informed. They understand functional movement. They understand aging bodies. They understand limits (both real and perceived). They have incredible eyes for detail, and their individual cues in the workouts are truly helpful. They see the little things.

3. They’re all SO different, but like a band, all play different parts of the same song. The three of them have very different personalities and with that, teaching styles and preferences for exercises. That means that 1. I always do something new (yay brain workout) and 2. Always push my brain and body to adapt to new patterns (yay neuroplasticity!). But… as I mentioned above, there’s a cohesive pattern of serious exercise intelligence in their programming. It shows. Its uniform, while also highly differentiated.

When I saw the ad for the Kickstart Program a couple of weeks before the start date, I decided right then it would be a good place to start. The program had a start and end date, I thought I would learn some things and continue on my own. I was wrong, it was a GREAT PLACE TO START! Before the month was up, I was addicted to small group personal training. The trainers met me where I was - an out of shape beginner and worked with me to participate in every class. With the focus on best form, and not ripping through repetitions, and the guidance of the trainers, I have gained so much strength, stamina and confidence. I am trying to do (and doing!) things I didn’t think I am capable of. I make sure to plan my schedule around my gym sessions. By making this healthy outlet a priority, it has encouraged better eating habits and an improved headspace.

I'm an active carpenter with chronic back pain and ongoing joint/muscle soreness. I joined the group training program at Wilcox one month ago with goals of improving my energy, strength and mobility. After completing PT for a knee replacement I started at Wilcox Wellness and Fitness to work at regaining the strength and endurance I had lost from decreased activity for many years. I opted for the group sessions and I’ve been going regular for 5 weeks. I’ve been to gyms before (I’m 74) but never one that has given me the attention and personal touch that I get at Wilcox. The trainers make sure they get to know you, are totally available to ask questions and help you with proper movement, and are incredibly encouraging.

I already feel stronger and more fit than I have in years. And they provide lots of information on nutrition with a month eating plan (with shopping lists!) I have no hesitation recommending Wilcox to anyone ready to make a change to their physical fitness.

I was looking for a place where I would receive help with gaining strength and mobility. I found Wilcox. I needed something besides a crowded chair class. I broke my shoulder and had a total reverse shoulder replacement. Physical Therapy was a long, helpful process but I need to regain strength from head to toes (balance). Wilcox personnel are trained in helping people like me live a fuller life. You'll NEVER hear "Figure it out yourself." The encouragement and attention are the factors that keep me going back. I receive suggestions about my form that I would never recognize if I tried these exercises at home in front of the TV. I'm encouraged to talk about any concerns I have. My personal physician, my sports medicine doctor (knees and other issues) , and my Physical Therapist have all said that joining Wilcox was great! I agree.

I’ve been going for a few months, with breaks for life in between. I’ve found muscles that I didn’t know were there, and continue to amaze myself that I can do it. The trainers make you feel good about yourself, and adapt the training for you.. some of the exercises you can do at home,, and it helps. I wanted to do something for my health and my older self (I want to stay independent as long as possible) and I am so glad I chose to start my health and wellness journey with Wilcox. Wilcox is not just a training place with awesome trainers; it is also a community with a lot of support and friendly environment. I feel like I have finally found what works for me for a lifelong healthy change and new way of living! I love the trainers! The work outs are hard but literally anyone can do them! Moves can be modified and nobody judges you for where you are at. I would not push myself as hard to maximize my workout if it wasn’t for the amazing energy and support from the trainers and the other folks working out with you. They are mindful of your body challenges and check in with you during workouts to make sure you are not doing something that would cause injury. I leave this gym 3 days a week with a pep in my step and a huge smile on my face ready for whatever my day has in store for me!! Sure, I could have used a video or gone to another gym but would I be doing things correctly? Wilcox with their highly skilled and knowledgeable community of coaches/trainers have made, sometimes very subtle changes in how I do an exercise that has made a huge difference. It hasn't mattered my ability or juries as they will make accomodations.Performing exercises correctlyis so important. After becoming deconditioned, I am making quick progress. Wilcox, because they are the full package: strength, mobility, balance, diet, mental health and great staff are the benchmark of what a gym should be.

I have never liked or carried through on an exercise program. After I finished physical therapy I knew it was time to do something to stay in good physical health. I have never been good at doing exercise alone. Wilcox Wellness and Fitness was recommended to me. I started with a two week trial program and realized for once that I can do this! The instructors take care to instruct you and give you help to do the exercises properly, to enable you to gain the best benefit for your body without hurting yourself. I have found that they are kind and very encouraging and take an interest in you. That helped me to continue on. I have also enjoyed getting to know the other members who attend there. I’ve been a member at Wilcox for over a year now, and have nothing but good things to say about it. I’m one of these people that don’t really like to work out. Don’t get me wrong, I like physical activities. I hike and swim and kayak in the summer, ski and snowshoe in the winter, but I never really liked going to the gym. I found it boring and repetitive. But it's different at Wilcox; the work outs are different every session. They may have a lot of the same exercises, but the trainers mix it up, and make it more interesting and challenging. The focus of the sessions is not just to build strength or endurance, but also flexibility, coordination, posture, that can be applied to normal life activities, such as walking and such.

The trainers appear to really care about their clients. They remember their ailments, and suggest alternate or modified exercises when needed. I have found the other members also very friendly and encouraging.

The gym is also a no-politics zone, which I find very refreshing.

Since attending Wilcox I have lost close to 20 pounds, and my knees feel better than they have for years. I still don’t really like going to the gym, and sometimes dread what's up when I go through that door (oh gawd no, not the ropes today!), but the time I spend in the Wilcox center has been well worth it.
I highly recommend them.

I LOVE this gym! I was inconsistent in my strength training and also needed to navigate a couple injuries that didn't prevent me from working out but do require me to be extra mindful of how I use and move my body. The membership structure motivates you to make exercise a priority. The class structure allows trainers to continuously observe and correct your form so that you can continue to safely gain strength and endurance. If you want accountability, support, and encouragement from an entire community of folks then this is the place for you!

I joined the Kickstart program and loved all the feed back from the trainers. If you're trying to get healthy through exercise and nutrition this program is for you. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Small group classes allow for attention from trainers on form. The meal plan was easy to follow and had recipes were straight forward. You don't have to follow the meal plan but it does help show you what wholefoods you should eat as part of a healthy lifestyle. I would recommend this program to anyone looking for support and guidance on appropriate exercises and nutrition.

From the very first session, I knew that the training and the fitness community at Wilcox was going to be the right fit for me. As a relatively active person, I was already checking a lot of boxes for a healthy lifestyle but it didn't take long with Allison, Bree & Trevor (the training team) to realize that the work I was doing on my own was skipping a lot of fundamentals that lead to functional fitness. In particular, my mobility, flexibility and posture/form needed a lot of work. I've already seen a huge boost to my running and weight training thanks to the work I do at Wilcox. Additionally, I've historically stuck to a solo workout regimen. I wasn't sure how I would adapt to a group exercise setting. Both the trainers, and the other members, have been so welcoming and encouraging that it's hard to think I'd go back to going it alone all the time. From my own experience and that of the other members I've spoken with, it's a great fit for those that are new to working out or are already active. Wilcox Wellness & Fitness in my opinion is five star, from the very start Allison made it personal and comfortable to dip my toes back into the workout pool in our zoom meet and greet. It had been two years since I stepped into a gym as I’ve been conquering the fight with Lyme disease. My mind body and soul was at the end of its rope and tired, I wanted to feel human again and love myself… The two week free trial sold me, it gave me the opportunity to get to know the gym and community before making the financial commitment to join. One of my favorite parts is I get to show up and my workout is laid out in front of me so I can enjoy it and push myself to the max. Taking out the mundanity of having to plan the workouts myself. It’s fun and challenging, the class sizes are just right and you get to bond with others on the same journey. The support is overwhelmingly encouraging, I couldn’t be happier. Over the last month and a half the coaches and community at Wilcox have been by my side as I climb new mountains in this crazy thing called life. From injuries to seeing and feeling my body bounce back, I couldn’t ask for a better gym home! I’m excited for my relationships in the gym and with myself to grow in the months to come.

I have been going to Wilcox for training for 18 months now. I just did the Kickstart program with them to get my nutrition in check and it was a great program. They work with you everyday to make sure you are on track. Weekly zoom meetings and daily support.
The training sessions are always very different so you never get bored. They work all your muscle groups and there are modifications if you have had injuries and for the level that you are at. The trainers are all top notch! It is also very much a community there. If you attend the same trainings at the same times you will end up making some friends and get even more support!

I started at Wilcox in mid January. I have a big job ahead of me to find the healthy and happy person that’s been in hiding for more years than I like to think about.
I started the 2 week trial with a lot of apprehension but decided it was now or never. I walked in the first day, did my best ( which was more than I thought I could) and at the end of the class was greeted by the group and received support and encouragement. Just what I needed.
Since that first day I’ve been coming to the gym 3 days a week and am absolutely amazed at the transformation that’s happening. My joint pain is significantly less and my muscle tone and balance are already improved. The limitations I came in with were always managed by modifications made by the trainers. It’s impossible to feel like you’re on your own. The trainers do a great job keeping track of everyone and making sure our form is the best for maximum benefits. No one is competing with anyone else but instead giving encouragement which I feel everyone needs more of.
I’m so happy with my choice to sign up for the year at Wilcox!

I have been an active member of Wilcox Wellness and Fitness for 2 months now, and I'm feeling the difference. This organization has my absolute highest recommendation; it is well worth checking out.

I'd say that the personal trainers there do everything right, and with a perfect combination of enthusiasm and professionalism. I've never participated in personal training like this, and the forms of exercise are mostly new to me. The session structure makes a lot of sense: warm-ups that incorporate some of the movements we'll be doing, practice without weights or resistance, and demonstrations of the exercises before we begin. It really works well. The trainers' attention to detail (to help us get our form right), plus their encouragement at every step, helps turn what could be a dreaded workout into an enjoyable, yet challenging, session. I leave each one feeling a sense of accomplishment and looking forward to next time. Differences this program has made in my day-to-day activities include a healthier diet and a much greater awareness of my posture.

By the way, I'm in my mid-60s and in these sessions I'm working out with groups of people whose ages range from 30s to 70s (my guess). The group sessions (they also offer private) are co-ed, and it just feels very comfortable. I could not be happier to have found Wilcox Wellness and Fitness.

I have been going to Wilcox for several weeks now and I feel so THANKFUL to have found them. As a former athlete (many years ago but always at heart) I was not feeling like myself. I ached, felt unmotivated and had lost confidence in myself and abilities. Wilcox puts an emphasis on ultimately one thing: HEALTH. That mindset change has been so valuable instead of viewing "health" as "weight" I have started to view it as a feeling only. I feel stronger, more flexible and like an athlete again. The classes are always different and I leave feeling challenged but not exhausted. I also really appreciate that while you attend classes with others, it is NOT a competition except with yourself and all levels attend and feel welcome. There are alsl so many time options to make it work for your schedule. Allison and team really invest in each person, learning names and pushing people based on where they are at. I don't see a time in my life moving forward where I won't need to be or want to be a part of Wilcox!

I have been struggling to keep up with going to the gym for many reasons one of which is being uncomfortable, I always felt like people were judging me and I could not find a trainer that would take the time out of their day to help me with my goals without feeling like a huge burden on them. I found Wilcox wellness and fitness online with little to no hope that it would be any better or different from the other gyms I’ve tried…I am so happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised by the difference, I absolutely love coming to this facility to workout. Allison spoke to me on the phone and was compassionate and caring and really dedicated to helping me to decide how I could reach my goals, she was never rude or pushy like most places who want to sell you something and she was very thorough when laying out all the different options. After considering the options I went all out and decided to start working out 3 x a week I have pushed myself very hard to get to this point and Allison and Bree and now Olivia have all been right there next to me supporting me! The community in this facility is wonderful, everyone is very nice and welcoming I don’t feel like I’m being judged or laughed at when I come to workout, I am completely comfortable here. I joined in Nov 2021 and Now my favorite days of the week are the days I workout here, I feel great when I leave I am already seeing incredible results in my body and mind and I just love it! I had been searching for some time about a different approach to my "fitness" status. I had been going to a Spin class about twice a week as well as one yoga session per week. I enjoyed the Spin, great leader, great cardio workout, but I felt that my hips were getting tighter and tighter despite the yoga. I really did not want to go to a gym and simply go through the motions, it can be boring. I met Allison at a Brunswick Rotary meeting and I scheduled an interview with her. The first interview was a short telephone session to determine my objectives and to understand what her gym had to offer. I then was scheduled with a face to face session where Allison listened to what I was interested in accomplishing and described in some detail the nature of Wilcox Wellness. She was quite clear that this was not a simple gym session but a program with health and nutritional guidance as well as the training sessions. She recommended that I sign up for a twice a week commitment as well as continuing with Spin or yoga weekly. I have now met three of the instructors and have been extremely happy with their attitudes, their patience, and their obvious genuine concern. I had heard stories of personal trainers who are "in your face" similar to going through boot camp! These gentlemen are not that way at all. They demonstrate the various exercises (the warm up, the workout, and the cool down) with clarity. While going through the exercises they are present to make corrections to ensure that we are getting the most effective workout without any personal injury. The exercises are varied and certainly keep your interest. The facility is clean and bright, the trainers always greet us by name, and we are made to feel welcome. I am slowly working on integrating the meal plan in my life, but the summer time is filled with temptations!
I can and have highly recommended the Wilcox Wellness and Fitness center to anyone with a sincere interest in pursuing a healthy life style.

This 4-week program did exactly what I had hoped it would do, it forced me out of my comfort zone and got me exercising on a regular weekly schedule again. Have you ever been frustrated because you talked yourself out of getting active for the 200th time and then just find yourself eating a pint of Ben and Jerry’s? That was pretty much where I was at. I had been dedicated and disciplined not that long ago, crushing goals left and right, feeling good and looking good.
My professional life changed and now...not so much. I saw Wilcox was new in my town and decided to like them on Facebook and I am so glad I did. What I love about Wilcox is that they are 100% committed to you. They care about my success, my goals, my well-being, my form, and my dedication. As an admitted gym rat, I have been a member of many gyms across multiple states. But this one stands out from the rest.

1. Facility: It is the most spacious gym I’ve ever seen. You will never feel cramped for space to complete your workout. It’s clean and organized with a wide variety of workout equipment.

2. Classes: The number of classes and variety of class types are also unmatched. You can choose among various class types and even lengths. And unlike other gyms, classes are offered throughout the day.

3. Trainers: At any gym, the trainers bring their own experience and personality so you can expect a good variety. But it’s good for some things to be consistent, i.e., commitment to form, not over-queueing, energy without being obnoxious and allowing you to make the workout your own while still encouraging you to push when needed. Wilcox does a great job with all these things.

Being a part of this gym community has already been a wonderful experience. I’m excited to watch it grow.
