Activate Body isn't just a gym, it's a community. Small group session sizes (never more than 6) that focus on strength training in a fun and nonjudgemental environment. I love how, while these may be group sessions, each workout is altered to fit my individual needs. Each trainer pays attention to what my body is capable of. Appropriate substitutions are made that allow me to safely push myself without overdoing it or re-injuring myself (bad hip club over here).

I love how the trainers always make sure I'm doing each exercise correctly. When my form is being corrected, I never feel called out or embarrassed. This has been a problem for me in the past with other trainers at different gyms. I've never really enjoyed working out, but I always look forward to attending sessions at Activate.

Not only are the trainers great, the other members really help make each class feel like a community event and not a chore we are trying to get through. Not only are strong bodies made here, so are friendships.

Highly recommend reaching out, even if it's just to chat with one of the trainers during a strategy session. You won't be disappointed in making that first step.

I have struggled to maintain a good fitness routine since having kids amidst the pandemic. I got a targeted social media ad for Activate Body and figured I'd give it a try. I’ve been with Activate Body for three months and I can honestly say joining has been one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself in my fitness journey. The community that exists here is very welcoming. The trainers are able to adjust each exercise to individual needs while still maintaining the group experience. I googled "personal trainer for over-sixty woman with osteoporosis" and found Activate Body. So glad I did. The small group training is incredibly personal (no more than 6 people per session). After a consultation, a chart is maintained with your issues (medical conditions, injuries, goals, etc.) and tailor each workout accordingly. The trainers are all so wonderful - knowledgeable and very safety conscious. They make sure my form is correct. Forty-five minutes fly by and I'm done. The staff is great too - it's a very friendly place. The space (Clipper Mill) is very cool; it's a pleasure to be in it. I highly recommend Activate Body.

Community is a great way to describe Activate. I have been going to the Clipper Mill location for 1.5 years and I can’t overstate the impact and effect it has had on me. The trainers and fellow members are so supportive and non-judgmental. The trainers adapt exercises and make accommodations based on individual needs. They assure you are performing routines safely and correctly. I love the feedback I get at the end of a quarter where I can see the improvement. I am now doing things that I didn’t think I could when I started. I began going 2 days a week but have upped to 3 days. I started with Activate Body in Clipper Mill 6 months ago and it has been one of the best decisions I have made. They are able to tailor workouts to your abilities even in the small group setting. All of the staff are amazing and I truly look forward to going. They encourage you to push yourself but in a safe way and let you listen to your body. If you need more of a challenge, they will help you make it harder, if you need a modification, they will accommodate your needs without any shame. The best part is that they do all of thinking for you when it comes to your workouts, all you have to do is sign up and show up, there is no setting up or cleaning up. Taking the mental load out of working out has made it possible for me to be consistent and have it not feel like a chore. I will say that it is more expensive than gyms that only give you equipment to use or group classes that are not tailored so it might not be financial feasible for everyone but if it would work for your budget, it has 110% been worth the price for me.

Very different from other gyms, in a good way. Group personal training instead of a big room full of machines. good mix of music on the stereo, not loud or annoying like other gyms. Trainers are knowledgeable and provide helpful form corrections. Other trainers I worked with made my knees and back worse, the activate Body trainers made them better.

No showers or sauna, but in some ways this is a good thing. This gym is cleaner than the full-service gyms in the area.

I hate to exercise and have successfully avoided it my whole life. But, I'm at the age where I had to do something. Activate has been the only program I have wanted to stay with. I’ve been a member of Activate Body for a long time now, and I can’t say enough good things about this fitness studio. If you’re on the fence about joining, just do it—you’ll be glad you did. Every time I walk in, I feel like I’m part of a community that genuinely cares about me.

I have to give a special shoutout to the trainers Will, Tina, and Summer. They’re amazing motivators and really know how to tailor the workouts to fit your goals and any limitations you might have. They keep me coming back and actually excited about working out.

I enjoy working out at both Activate locations, but this one edges ahead bc of the ease of parking. The trainers I've encountered here seem quite seasoned and enthusiastic about each session. They're also very welcoming as I'm not a regular at this location, but have always felt comfortable and supported. Plus, you can adjust the difficulty level of each circuit according to the trainer's suggestion or as you see fit. There are always options of how to get the most out of a move for your body even with pushups - you could be on the floor in the traditional move, on the bench at a slight angle or on the boxes. Still haven't tried the smoothies but the descriptions sound good!

I wanted to get back into some casual strength training for years. I joined a gym a couple years ago but literally never went. Years earlier whenever I did get to the gym, I was sidetracked by injuries attributable to improper form. I wondered how I'd ever get back into any strength training. Because of the many reasons I keep telling people to try out Activate Body! It has kept me in great shape!!! I have been a care giver several times and see what happens when you keep saying you'll exercise and you don't. You owe it to yourself now and you will definitely be thankful in the future! There are so many bragging points about Activate Body. I feel strongly that they are a team--from owners Ben and David to every single trainer, and including the persons manning the "sales bar" who bring me a personalized amino acids-enhancing drink, sell me Will's nutritional and carefully calorie-calibrated meals and scrumptious yogurt, or one of the well-researched and handy to-go pick me upper-- and that the entire team is on my side. My 10am session is also like a team--when a member is away due to schedule change, health or vacation, we miss them and are delighted to have them return. I have attended Activate Body classes now for almost as long as they have been existed--at least ten years. I know from personal experience that the goal is to provide every member the benefit of wellness and physical stability, not to mention the considerable nutritional awareness and emotional benefits of these exercise sessions. Every month Ben researches and finds an entirely new set of exercises. He breaks that down to Strength, Shape and Dynamic, so that every session is different and in total every party of our body gets a workout. Within each of our sessions we have individually addressed weights and goals. No trainer has more than four clients per session. And my favorite bragging points-- I am NOT permitted to perform a single move incorrectly; and I have met a fascinating bunch of men and women--of all ages.

When I first started exercising and attempting to get in better shape, it was always "one step forward, two steps back". I'd eat something I shouldn't, do an exercise wrong or that I shouldn't have done, or just not exercise at all. When I finally made the decision to turn to Ben and start at Activate Body, I was pretty frustrated, and resigned to my body staying the way it was forever. Well, it's one year later today, and I could not be happier with the results. Nutrition, workout design, even planning out how and when I can exercise with a crazy schedule- Ben and the team helped me through it all.
