We are up in NJ, but are always impressed with Master Clark and his students/instructors when they join our Small Circle Jujitsu training camps every Fall. If I was down that way I would train there, too!!

A friend and I went here recently for their evening self defense class, as it was recommended to me due to a stalker situation. The class was amazing, and the instructors and students were welcoming and genuine. I was never made to feel bad for taking a moment to figure out some of what was being taught. Every technique was also given a practical application for real-world self defense, which was perfect. I definitely recommend!

My family has been studying martial arts at AKA for almost 4 years, generally attending classes several times per week. The instructors are all highly trained in many different martial arts, which is obvious the first time you work with them; all have reached the master level in at least one style.

Master Instructor Mark Clark is especially good with teaching children, but he adjusts the lesson to fit the age and skill level of each participant. It is a true family activity. Master Clark has a great sense of humor and keeps things fun, while still emphasizing discipline and proper technique.

Love this academy!!! We have been going there since 2009!! now we have 3 of our children there!! Mr. Clark is the best teacher as my kids say!! He trains everyone with respect and expertise focusing on individual needs, he is the best working with children. The place is big with a nice parent seating area, nice siblings playing area as well, I love the fact you or the grandparents can see your children while training on your phone!! :) Highly recommended!

I never thought in a million years that my children, let alone I, would be involved in martial arts. But after a friend told me about the school approach -- which encourages self-discipline at an age appropriate level, camaraderie and respect, physical and emotional health, and excellent karate instruction -- I was willing to give it a try. My expectations have been blown away. Master Clark is truly a master of both of his crafts -- teaching and martial arts, and the other instructors are wonderful as well. I was so impressed by the things my children (ages 5 and 7 at the time) were learning, that I decided to try too. We have been part of AKA for almost two years now and we continue to love the flexibility of the class schedule and the community of friends we have made here. As a thirteen year veteran educator and life-long athlete, I can say that this is the place to learn karate.

All four of our children, ages 7-17 have been attending AKA for over 3 years. Master Clark is an exceptional teacher, mentor, and is amazing with kids! His wife Lisa and Staff are awesome, facility is great. Atmosphere is very family oriented, with the other parents as well as Master Clark and Staff. Your child will never be just a number to any of them, we feel very thankful to have found such a wonderful place for our family. Students do not all learn or move at the same pace, Master Clark does not further a student until he knows that the individual child is ready for the next level. I know that when our kids finally receive their black belts that they worked so hard for it will be because they earned it, with all the knowledge and expertise that comes with it, nothing less!! My daughter has been attending American Karate Academy for almost 2 years. The best thing about this studio is the framework Master Clark provides for his kids to learn. He teaches them to be disciplined and have a mutual respect for each other as well as respect for themselves. My daughter thoroughly enjoys the time she spends there. Master Clark is a great teacher. I highly recommend this studio.
