I have been training at B&G for nearly a year and can’t say enough great things about this gym! The small-class training format offers personal attention without the pressure of one-on-one, and a supportive group atmosphere that keeps you motivated. The kettlebell-focused workouts are effective, thoughtfully programmed, and always offer the right balance of strength, conditioning, and technique work.

The coaches are knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in everyone’s progress. They take time to correct form, offer modifications, and push you just the right amount. Every session feels safe, challenging, and fun.

The community is also a huge plus. All members are friendly and encouraging. Whether you’re new to kettlebells or have years of experience, this gym makes you feel welcome and capable from day one.

Thanks, Joe!

Joe and Shane are great at differentiating to meet the needs of a range of athletes. They find ways for someone like myself (who has always been athletically challenged) to participate in classes and experience success even though the skills don’t come naturally to me. There is really no judgement and everyone is very supportive of one another.

I've been training with Joe for almost 6 months and have found myself addicted.
Joe is masterful at evaluating clients and helping them reach higher for new levels of strength and mobility.
As a horseback rider in my upper 60's with some injured and arthritic joints, Joe has helped me gain better function and comfort in most of my body. I am stronger and more flexible and working towards improved endurance.
A huge variety of exercises keeps the sessions interesting. Joe pays close attention to his clients' form and provides guidance when corrections are needed. He is a great motivator giving lots of encouragement and recognition of achievements.
It's super fun to work out with Joe.

I've been training w Joe for over 7 years now, in a very crowded field he stands as a peerless source of mentorship, an invaluable source of fitness expertise and motivation for me. His approach and his sessions are HARD, SMART, and FAIR, thus the degree of loyalty he's built among a large group of longtime proteges.

Joe Dressler is one of the most knowledgeable trainers I've ever come across. He has a ton of knowledge ranging from mobility, recovery from injury, powerlifting, kettlebell training, endurance training, and sports conditioning. His expertise has not only improved the lives of his clients, he's also improved the training methods of many of the trainers he's worked with. Do yourself a favor, and sign up for a session with Joe you won't regret it!!

I started working out with Joe in group training sessions for several years where I felt like I got into some of the best shape of my adult life. I learned a lot and the workouts were always way more challenging than if I just did a workout on my own. I liked that you could always adjust the intensity up or down, but in the group setting there was always the extra motivation to compete. My daily routine took me in a different direction so I no longer workout with him, but to this day I still use a lot of the techniques learned with Joe whether its when I'm on vacation, in another gym or just some place on my own. Thanks Joe and I hope our paths cross again soon!

I can say with complete confidence that Joe is in the top tier of strength coaches anywhere. He has an amazing ability to bring people together and create a motivating environment. It was a privilege to have worked with Joe earlier in my career as a trainer, I learned more about kettlebells and the skill of effective coaching from him than I even thought possible. He can without a doubt help anyone at any level of fitness move and feel better

I trained with Joe for a few years while exploring more low impact styles of fitness and training such as yoga. Eventually I went through yoga teacher training and I found that the union of kettlebells and yoga complimented one another. I felt like I was getting a well rounded workout.

I am happy that Shane joined Joe as I trained with Shane for nearly 5 years. Mostly on kettlebells but also for injuries that arose which needed more targeted work- more like physical therapy. Shane is patient and listens to what you want. He is also funny. For a couple years I invited a friend to train with us and even though it was in the early morning hours, we had so much fun and laughed a lot. It was a great way to start the day. Good luck Shane!

Joe is a great trainer, I trained with him for over a year. I enjoyed the private sessions, small group, and the semi private ones with my daughter. The trainings pushed us both to improve in a motivating, but safe way, and it was fun to compete with each other. Overall, I recommend Joes trainings to anyone looking to improve their fitness and strength.

Joe is an amazing trainer, turned long-time friend. I have had the pleasure of working with Joe both in person (1:1 training and small group training) and virtually, for about 5 years cumulatively. His passion, knowledge and dedication to fitness is truly unmatched. From lifting basics, running mechanics, proper recovery tactics to nutrition and diet- Joe is educated and willing to help. In particular, I will always be grateful to Joe for helping me find my passion for fitness after two back to back pregnancies. In a time when I was really struggling with my confidence and motivation- Joe was my biggest cheerleader and believed in me when I really thought I couldn’t ever be “fit” or strong again. I highly recommend Joe to anyone looking to improve their fitness- beginner or seasoned athlete!

When I started working with Joe Dressler a year ago, I had no experience with kettlebells and little experience with other strength training exercises. However, from the very beginning, Joe helped me to learn safe form and introduced me to various exercises in a way that helped me improve my technique while also keeping the classes interesting and varied. I really enjoy the demanding but supportive environment that has been created and confidently recommend Joe as a fantastic trainer!

Joe is one of the top trainers I've personally had the privilege of meeting throughout my fitness career. As a certified trainer myself, and working with him for close to 5 years, I can't say enough good things about him.

He has over 20 years of experience and a extremely good eye for detail and technique. Joe is very well respected in the fitness community and known by many for his notorious small group classes and overall knowledge of training. I've learned a tremendous amount from him, and his clients are very lucky to have a coach like him. If you're looking for one of the top trainers in Maryland, I would highly recommend working with Joe!

I’ve been working with Joe for about 11 months in semi private sessions and I’ve had some of the finest coaches and trainers over the last 30 years of competitive sports events. This includes 15 years of Ironman racing, over 28 marathons, multi day bike races and long distance swim races. Joe is one of the rare trainers that gets the best out of you through a deep understanding of how each individual athlete responds differently to each exercise. He’s taught me more about the journey of being in my late sixties and building the commensurate levels of strength, endurance and conditioning without injury. I highly recommend his approach to fitness.

Joe is legit the best trainer in Baltimore. He is methodical and form matters first and foremost. For example…You don’t get to move up to DLs and KBs until you perfect the hinge. He is versatile, and sports/events specific. Whatever your training needs, kids and adults, he is the only trainer I’d recommend.

I am in the best shape of my life thanks to Joe and his program! He is dedicated to form and he is extremely patient as I learned. He is professional and knowledgeable and even the little suggestions made a huge difference. On days I do not work out, I still do the stretches he taught me. I never go without them. I will never train with anybody else! He also worked with my son who was playing basketball in Japan. Thanks Joe for changing my life through your training.

I first met Joe almost 10 years ago in Baltimore. Through the years, he has remained consistent- always navigating the fine line of pushing you to what you can achieve while always being mindful of keeping your injuries (also most of my injuries were without his supervision lol) and physical capabilities in mind. I always wish I lived closer (I moved to DC a couple years ago and intermittently still do virtual sessions). I miss the group exercise sessions where you’ll meet like minded people who love to be fit and have fun.

Joe at Ballistics and Grinds is top-notch!

Years ago, I decided to raise my level of fitness, and training with Joe was one of the best decisions I made. I trained with Joe and participated in his group classes, and his knowledge and attention to detail are truly impressive.

Joe helped me identify several key areas I needed to improve, particularly in mobility and technique. By focusing on perfecting my form, I was able to make the strength gains I’d been striving for. His group classes were also fantastic—not only did they push me to challenge myself, but they also introduced me to an amazing community of like-minded clients. Training with others in that setting helped break up the monotony of training alone and kept me motivated.

Joe’s extensive experience and wide breadth of fitness knowledge set him apart in the industry. If you’re serious about improving your fitness, you’re missing out if you don’t train with Joe!

I highly recommend Joe, he is extremely skilled and knowledgeable and works diligently to achieve your fitness goals. Could not recommend enough.

**Ballistics and Grinds Review**
I met Joe back when he was a Personal Trainer at Merritt in Canton. I wanted to learn kettle bells and trained with him a few sessions at the gym.

Fast forward to 2020, I was preparing for an opening in our SWAT team and ended up breaking my ankle at work in a foot chase. Once I was able to put weight on my foot again, I knew I needed a jump start to get me where I needed to be in 3 months before the preliminary physical agility test and later SWAT School.

I contacted Joe again and he put together a custom, progressive training program that was able to accelerate my progression without creating overuse injuries or stagnation. Joe was quick to respond to questions and adapted the program to my needs.

Joe is the main reason I was able to successfully reach my career goal after an untimely injury set me back. If you are willing to put in the effort and need someone to guide you to that next level, do yourself a favor and hit up Joe Dressler. Exceptional trainer.

I have trained with Joe, on and off, for nearly 10 years. I've even moved states and train virtually with him now; he's that good. Joe is an exceptional strength & conditioning coach. He's personable and genuinely interested in the lives and goals of his clients. He's also patient but knows when to push me. I've found he somehow makes working out feel less intimidating. I especially appreciate Joe's expert level kettlebell knowledge, experience, and his attention to correct form. Joe has helped me achieve multiple physical and athletic goals over the years. Of all the various fitness modalities I've tried, I've found Joe's kettlebell workouts to provide the best full-body results and get me in the best shape. Whatever your goals or fitness level, I can't recommend Joe, with Ballistics & Grinds, enough!
