Eight years ago, I started CrossFit at BBMAC. At first, I was hesitant—I worried about my skills, strength, technique, and endurance. But from day one, the entire team—RJ, Josh, Marylin, and so many others—guided me with patience and encouragement. They helped me learn not just my limitations, but also how far I could push myself safely and effectively. Over time, the “box” and the “team” became like family.
More recently, I decided to try Muay Thai, and it’s been an amazing experience with the same level of dedication, support, and satisfaction from the crew.
But what has impacted me the most is enrolling my 13-year-old daughter, who faces significant physical and behavioral challenges to do TKD. The love, patience, and support she has received is beyond what I could ever put into words—it’s truly moving as a parent.
Thank you, BBMAC, for everything you do. You’re not just building athletes; you’re building community. You should be proud of the enormous role you play in people’s lives.

BBMAC is a very special place of community and learning. Our kiddos have been going here for many years, and we are thrilled at the experience. The team is very knowledgeable, with high, achievable expectations, and conversations are about the whole kiddo, often talking about respect, listening, kindness, etc.

Really love BBMAC! It is an amazing place to learn new skills while getting an excellent workout. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable in a variety of martial arts disciplines and the staff is always welcoming. Great place for my kids to learn skills and life lessons, and for adults such as myself to learn martial arts in a welcoming and challenging environment. Recommend for newcomers and long-time members alike.

We left a review last year, but wanted to share an update now -- This place is STILL awesome! BBMAC/TEAM U isn't just about fitness, but about building individual athletes and a strong sense of community. My son is in the Tae Kwon Do program, and I'm in the adult Muay Thai and Strength and Conditioning programs. This past year, my husband started Muay Thai. So for us, this is a place where we also choose to spend a lot of time as family - alongside many others. BBMAC/TEAM U is the most supportive community of coaches and athletes you will find -- we can't recommend this place highly enough!!

I’m a student at BBMAC. And I highly recommend it. The instructors are very nice and will teach you many things. At the end of the classes there is usually a game which makes the classes much more fun than they already are. Overall, it is a very good place for people of all ages to learn martial arts and have fun as well.

My kids started taking BBMAC Taekwondo classes when they were in kindergarten and have been enrolled there for four years. They love it. There are a lot of things that make BBMAC special. To name a few: the instructors make classes engaging for kids of all ages and all abilities, the instruction is firm and serious while being positive and flexible--for example, the kidshave to wear their uniform properly and the kids are responsible for their bags and uniforms, but if a kid forgets their belt, they can still participate in class and aren't excluded or shamed. Earning belts gives the kids tangible proof that if they have the determination to follow through with something they will improve and can/should be proud of their progress. My kids are determined to make it to black belt! Every week there is a theme or lesson that helps build character in the kids--leadership, consistency, listening, teamwork, etc. The mixed age classes create opportunities for all of these lessons to be applied in class.

We have been at BBMAC for over 2 years now and we continue to love being part of the community. My daughter started tae kwon do there when she had just turned 4 and she’s been hooked ever since. They do a great job with the little kids and we really appreciate the weekly lessons they discuss at every class. We reference them at home all the time and it helps our daughter learn about discipline and being committed to something. We are very thankful for BBMAC and what it brings to our daughter’s life.

🌟 Unmatched Taekwondo Training Experience at BBMAC! 🌟

Our 3.5 year old son had gotten kicked out of gymnastics- he was getting pretty bored. After looking around BBMAC seemed like a great option. He is a real handful- very boy, and struggles with listening to adults- but BBMAC has been awesome for him. The teachers are all excellent and very patient with him- including sometimes acknowledging that he needs firm instruction and telling him to sit off the mat for a bit. He gets so excited when I tell him it’s time for martial arts. I also really appreciate the flexibility of the schedule- can come any 2x a week, and if you miss a class one week can make it up no problem.

We have had a great experience with BBMAC for our kids. Very family friendly… very well organized and instructed…
One unexpected yet very welcome surprise is that the head instructors take time every class to cover essential life skills and values like honesty, respect, communication, etc… They also make a point of celebrating academic achievement (shout outs).
And the birthday party we had there for our five year old was a blast.

Can't say enough about BBMAC. We tried another location thinking we'd save some money and learned our lesson. The moment we started here it was clear you get exactly what you pay for. Classes are organized (even when large amounts of kids show up) and the instructors really earn the respect of the kids. My son works doubly hard on and off the mat when he knows Master Lee or Master White might be hearing about it. I also love that they target other things like conversation skills and character building.

I've been bringing my son to BBMAC for the past few years, and I couldn't be more impressed. The staff is absolutely incredible. They're not just instructors; they're mentors who genuinely care about the kids' development. They create a positive and supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and encouraged to reach their full potential.

The way BBMAC teaches martial arts is remarkably accessible. They break down complex techniques into simple, digestible steps, making it easy for even the youngest students to grasp. The instructors are patient, encouraging, and always willing to offer extra help when needed.

Beyond the martial arts training, BBMAC fosters important life skills like discipline, focus, and respect. My son has become more confident, resilient, and well-rounded thanks to Master White, Master Lee, and the rest of the Team at BBMAC. They are incredibly generous with their time and energy, even responding to questions well after business hours with thoughtful and insightful responses that show that they truly care about the kids they teach.

I can't say enough good things about BBMAC. It's a fantastic place for kids of all ages to learn martial arts, make friends, and develop valuable life skills.

Simply put, this place is awesome! We first found BBMAC/TEAM U about 13 years ago, when our daughter started the Tae Kwon Do program. Seeing how much she loved it, I started the adult Muay Thai program soon after. Now our son is in TKD and I’ve recently started the CrossFit classes, while continuing in Muay Thai. We took a hiatus from BBMAC/TEAM U for 7 years, because we moved farther away. But after trying other places close to where we live, we found our way back here during the pandemic for the outdoor classes – and we can’t imagine going anywhere else. It’s still a long drive for us, but the drive is worth it! This place is special – it is not your typical ‘chain’ martial arts studio or gym experience. The instructors/coaches here work hard to create a safe space and supportive community for students-athletes of all ages to challenge themselves, grow, build confidence, motivate each other, and have fun while doing it! The staff know every single person’s name when they walk through the door, and they take an interest in getting to know their students both individually and through community events. Our son loves it here, and I feel healthier and more fit than I’ve ever been. We can’t recommend this place highly enough!

It’s taught me discipline, respect, confidence, important life skills and it’s taught me to defend myself verbally and physically. It’s training you to not be a material artist but an athlete. Our family has been a part of the BBMAC community for 2 years now and we LOVE it! My son is in the Tae Kwon doe class and it has amazed me so much to see how much he has grown in confidence and discipline. When the quarantine began, they started zoom classes, it was the only consistent routine my son had, and it helped so much, emotionally, and physically. The outdoor classes for his age group are a great addition and he gets to hang out, at a safe distance, with his peers. I too knew I needed an outlet to decompress from the everyday stressors and just to stay fit and healthy during quarantine, so I began their adult program through zoom classes, and it has seriously helped me overall. With the different time slots, they offer over both adult programs, I am able to get in a daily workout. The instructors are attentive, engaging and good-hearted, I recommend BBMAC to everyone.

I can't believe it's been 4 years since my original review of BBMAC. So much has happened... my 8- year-old (now almost 13) just passed his black belt test and I'm doing kickboxing and strength & conditioning. (Kickboxing several years; strength & conditioning is recent)

The world has changed as well - and I've continued to be impressed by BBMAC, especially now. It's not easy to take what was once an in-person experience and make it a good, valuable virtual experience. BBMAC has done just that. Their Zoom classes are fantastic. I'm getting an excellent workout, even though I'm at home - and through the magic of Zoom, the instructors are still able to help with form and answer questions as we go. Their creativity in developing (remote) partner workouts keeps everything fun.

They have also done an amazing job keeping everyone together and fostering a real sense of community, which I have found to be tremendously important during this pandemic. Working out with my BBMAC crew is a way to connect with others (albeit virtually) and focus on something else for awhile.

Who knows when we will be able to get back on to the mats - it could be a long while -- but I appreciate that BBMAC's leadership is keeping safety in mind and providing us with a top-notch experience via Zoom until we can be together.

--------
My 8-year-old son is new to BBMAC, and loves going to classes. I've continued to be impressed with the personal attention and support he gets from each and every instructor. I don't know how they do it, but everyone who works at BBMAC knows each kid's name and ensures that every student feels important each time they hit the mats. What's more BBMAC, goes beyond forms, punches, and kicks to teach kids important lessons about self-discipline and being kind to one another.

Edit ... 4 years later and we are still at BBMAC:

So, as mentioned in the original post below, our whole family has been going to BBMAC since June 2011. A few black belts later and a pandemic and we are still attending classes ... via ZOOM! The quality of instruction is the same: amazing. Boys do taekwondo and Muay Thai with no issues and are keeping up on their fitness and mental discipline. The best is “seeing” friends that used to partner with you in class and being able to virtually partner up for some drills too. We are here for the long haul, there really is no better martial arts place, IRL or via ZOOM. 110% guaranteed.

This place is amazing. If I could give it 10 stars I would! I have been a student for close to 5 years along with my 2 boys who do Taekwondo there. For us it is a family affair and we get to practice it in a family environment, in a business also run by a family. The facility itself is massive compared to other martial arts schools in the area, clean and open. The instructors are top notch. I can't recommend BBMAC enough.

In October 2019 I joined the Fitness Kickboxing class right after my 3 year old started taking their Taekwondo class. My son loved going to class and all the instructors were so great with him. BBMAC changed everything for me, both mentally and physically. Every coach puts so much time and effort helping us train and get better. It’s a wonderful community to be apart of. Even through this pandemic they provided excellent training through zoom and since June a very safe outdoor strength and conditioning classes. They have 12x12 ft boxes marked out for each person in the parking lot, practicing social distance at all times, hand sanitizer stations and required masks when leaving your area. They go above and beyond to provide a safe environment. I feel very comfortable going .
I highly recommend BBMAC!

I can't express enough how much BBMAC has helped me stay fit (physically & mentally) over the last four months during this pandemic. They do a remarkable job keeping their members engaged, and they provide options for us to take classes via zoom and outdoors throughout the day. I recommend BBMAC for everyone in the family. They offer Taekwondo classes for kids and kickboxing and Muay Thai classes for adults.
In addition, they now offer Strength and Conditioning classes both outdoors and on zoom. Outdoor classes are socially distanced and safe. They provide us with cleaning caddies that include disinfectant wipes, disinfectant spray, and a cloth. Each workout area is a 12 by 12-foot designated space. If we need equipment, we are required to wear masks and use hand sanitizer.
The teachers are great in giving instruction and feedback to students of any fitness level. During my kickboxing classes on zoom, the instructors are able to correct my form and make sure I'm doing combinations correctly. In Strength and Conditioning classes, the coaches give great explanations on technique for the variety of exercises we do, especially when using weights. They also provide helpful feedback to ensure I am doing the exercises correctly to prevent injury.
You're not just a gym member when you join BBMAC, you become part of a supportive and encouraging community. If you're looking for a new way to get fit while sheltering in place, get involved with BBMAC! Your mind and body will thank you!

I’ve been a member of BBMAC for almost 3 years. I never used to be active but I can honestly say my lifestyle has changed since joining. I’m stronger and fitter than I’ve ever been. I’ve forged great friendships through the fitness kickboxing classes.

During Covid-19, they didn’t skip a beat. They quickly set up zoom classes for kickboxing and Tae Kwon Do, which was great for consistency for both adults and kids. And as the Quarantimes have stretched on, they created a suite of classes everyday at multiple times, including strength & conditioning. And with proper safety measures, they’ve now begun small outdoor classes with large workout spaces and cleaning supplies for the equipment. They have taken safety precautions very seriously and thoughtfully.

AND I’ve managed to buy not one but two targets from them.

BBMAC is not just a martial arts school, it's a way of life. As I tell anyone who listens about my experience at this school over the last almost 11 years, it always sounds like I'm speaking about family members, which is how it feels, just like family. Regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and dealing with the shutdown of the physical school space, BBMAC has far exceeded my expectations. I know for certain that they are taking the health recommendations very seriously. The excellent instructors were forced to think outside of the literal and figurative box and they nailed it. I started with the Zoom classes and then progressed into the Strength & Conditioning classes outdoors. I now have 5-6 great days of workouts, whether it be kickboxing or Strength & Conditioning. Both formats have me confident that everything we do is done in the safest, most-effective manner possible. I highly recommend that you give BBMAC a try in whichever of the available formats are most comfortable to you and your family.

I've been doing fitness kickboxing classes at BBMAC for more than two years now. I loved coming to class and the camaraderie I found there, and I always felt like I got a good workout. But beyond that now, I have been so impressed with how they've stepped up to handle the challenges presented by the pandemic. There are options for different types of workouts and different levels of comfort with being in a class with others. The zoom kickboxing classes have been great for me, and I participate almost every day. They've even been helpful in helping people buy targets and get them to their homes. I've also recently started doing the outdoor strength and conditioning classes and I really enjoy the workouts and just seeing people, even from a distance. They seem to be very safety conscious with the space you're given outside to perform your workouts, the mask requirement when getting your equipment, and the ability and requirement to sanitize the equipment after. They have done a great job addressing the safety concerns we've all had and changing to meet our needs as necessary. It's really been a life saver for me, as I really need the stress/energy outlet.

They are now offering adult outdoor Strength & Conditioning classes, which has challenged me in new ways and I really enjoy taking these classes in addition to the virtual kickboxing. My son is also able to take outdoor Tae Kwon Do classes now, and it has been great to see him smile with friends and instructors! BBMAC continues to put the safety of its students first, going above and beyond the safety guidelines including physical distancing, sanitizing, and mask wearing. The outdoor classes take place in the large parking lot outside the gym, with 12x12 ft boxes marked off. We feel very comfortable participating in these in-person outdoor classes.

The workouts are great but even better the instructors and entire BBMAC team are an amazing and supportive community that is always welcoming to new students.

I've been going to BBMAC for three years. Simply put, these guys changed the way I approach fitness. I've NEVER stuck with any gym/program before. With BBMAC, I go multiple times and week and look forward to going. The community is incredible. Everyone is welcoming and the instructors are very kind and encouraging, no matter what your level of fitness is. My endurance is SO much better and I feel *athletic* for the first time in my life at 42.

They have also handled the pandemic brilliantly. From the first week, they've had zoom classes going. And the community vibe is still there. "Being" with people on zoom was such a needed dose of socializing. They also have outdoor classes, all of which follow safety guidelines to the letter. They are constantly striving to do more and more for the "team". I love the monthly challenges they do that keep us all feeling connected when we need it most.

I know it sounds weird to say about a gym, but I feel so lucky to have found this gym and honored to be a part of this community.

I have been taking Kickboxing Fitness Classe for about two years, since then it has been a changing life for me, specially in the last four Months, has been my scape from this world. They are full professionally and organized with their classes, they are fallowing all the CDC guides, you can take live Zoom classes, recorded Zoom Clasess or some live classes that take place at their own parking lot. And the best part is that they are local family owned business, JUST KEEP IT LOCAL.

My son has been attending BBMAC for 3.5 years, and it’s been an amazing experience. But I wanted to leave a review now to particularly focus on COVID. He attends class via Zoom 3 to 6 times a week (in person, small, outdoor classes are also an option) and the quality of these classes has not dropped one bit. The classes focus on fitness and form and the instructors do an amazing job of connecting with my son, even over the computer. During these times, getting enough exercise is tough and virtual can be a drag, but BBMAC has cracked the code and excelled in their TKD offering for kids.

I have been a member of the BBMAC community for almost two years. Before COVID, it was already one of the greatest things I've ever done for myself. The community bond created by the owners and instructors is something I have never seen before. And physically and mentally, this is hands down the perfect place for anyone, no matter your fitness level. I didn't realize how much better this place could get, and then COVID hit, and instead of them using COVID as an excuse, they used it as an opportunity to be even better! When the world felt turned upside down, BBMAC went out of their way to find ways to keep our TEAM fit and healthy, in safe ways. By offering an incredible collection of Zoom classes that are fun, challenging, and engaging, they have also given us an amazing opportunity to workout outside for awesome Strength & Conditioning classes. They go out of their way to provide a safe environment where we can workout worry free. The outside classes are incredibly safe and they don't just follow proper safety protocols, they go above and beyond, ensuring all of us feel safe and comfortable. The commitment BBMAC makes to its students is indescribable, and I feel very lucky to be a part of of this community.

Scam artists of the highest caliber here. Their "martial arts training" is mostly goofing off with unqualified "teachers", they constantly rebrand and then force their students to buy new gear which is hardly ever used. Then when you try to quit, they force you to pay for another 3 months based on some fine print in the contract which is only there to squeeze whatever last remaining $$$ they can out of you. Master Lee and his scam artist sister will take your money gladly and offer little in return. We had a much better experience with Master Kim at WTMA, who actually takes this seriously and professionally. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE, YOUR KID WILL THANK YOU!!!

My husband and I have been taking fitness kickboxing classes at BBMAC for the past several years. The instructors do an amazing job teaching us fitness exercises and kickboxing techniques. During classes, they work with us individually if we need extra help. They are like family - always motivating us and encouraging us. Our son also takes Tae Kwon Do classes which has been a super positive influence on his life - both in and outside of class. It’s the one activity that he has been involved in since he was 4 years old (and he’s 10 now)! I would highly recommend signing up - a great activity for individuals and especially for families!

My son has been going to BBMAC since he was 5 years old and is now a provisional black belt at age 10. The instructors at BBMAC are kind and patient, and help each student as if they were their only student. They meet your child where they are and help them grow and perfect their skills and improve confidence. After 5 years watching my son in the tae kwon do class, I've finally hit the mats for the fitness kickboxing class! This class is energizing, fun, and a great workout. No need to be intimidated by the name of the class, anyone at any fitness level, age, or size can excel in this class with the specialized attention of the instructors. Thank you BBMAC!

I walked into BBMAC 22 years ago hoping for an activity to build my son's self confidence. It looked like so much fun my 2 daughters and myself joined up. What a great bonding family experience! I still see that today at the school but I am obviously at a different stage which is what's so great about BBMAC. Whether you are an experienced martial artist, newbie, kid, adult, they make you feel welcome and really focus on what you want out of their program. Don't do the math but you guessed it--I am ancient. BBMAC has kept me young. As for my kids, they gained valuable life lessons, earned multiple black belts, and a little secret....my timid 7 year old son is now an admired instructor. It has something for everyone!

BBMAC has been a great place to take Muay Thai classes for me and Tae Kwon Do classes for my son. The instructors are excellent and really care about you/your child getting the best out each class and out of your life, in general. The classes include a variety of cardio, strength training and martial arts techniques and they always mix it up so you don't get bored. BBMAC also runs additional seminar classes every couple of months and a weight loss challenge 2x per year. (The seminars are included in your monthly dues and the only charge for the weight loss challenge is a small sum that the winner of the challenge receives.) All are welcome from those in great shape to those working on getting in better shape since the class activities allow you to modify each class to your level. The facility is nice and clean and has a parking lot with no charge. I would definitely recommend it to both kids and adults. It is especially nice if you have had a bad day and take a class that almost always includes hitting and kicking pads. After class, you feel much better!

If you are looking for a place where the whole family can get in great shape, learn valuable skills, and make great friends - this is the place!!
There are a wide variety of programs. Early childhood programs, various teen options and different choices for adults. Classes for all participants are offered through-out the day. The instructors have a unique ability to bring out the best in you and your kids.
I attend 5 to 6 times a week. Best shape of my life. But the biggest draw is the friendships. So may people who are looking for a place for their children to receive positive feedback and valuable skills, and then can't resist the urge to join the adults who are also having a great time.

My son has been attending tae kwon do classes at BBMAC for about 3 years now, and I have been taking their muay thai class for about a year and a half. The classes are a great workout and a lot of fun - nothing like hitting pads after the 'joy' of a DC commute!

I have been truly amazed at how devoted the instructors are to their students and to make sure they are thriving and improving. They are fantastic at working with the children - not an easy or common skill! Each class my son is getting valuable exercise and learning new skills, but more importantly learning lessons that he will apply every day of his life. Focus, listening, respect, discipline, teamwork. The knowledge that he can attempt hard things and be successful if he keeps working at them, even if it takes a while.

They are a school that has its foundation based around Tae Kwon Do, which is trying to take advantage of the rise in popularity of MMA by adding a non traditional Muay Thai program but instead it's more of a Billy Blanks' Tae Bo'ish class. There area so many black belts here, they're handed out like it's nothing. It devalues the meaning of a real black belt. The fee is a lot more expensive than other schools in the dmv especially when they're teaching non practical "self defense". Like the last reviewer said, this place is misleading.

Adult Muay Thai Program Review.

Joining BBMAC is one of the best decisions I have ever made!

Short Background: I joined the program in early 2016 and signed a contract knowing that I was going to be leaving the area shortly after. I explained this to the BBMAC staff upon arrival and they were very willing to accommodate my situation. (With a smile might I add).

I immediately scheduled some 'private trial lessons' (they teach you the basics so you feel comfortable in the group classes) prior to entering the regular Adult Muay Thai class schedule. (You do not have to pay for these and it is a great way to find out if you like Muay Thai before buying equipment and a uniform). These trial classes were awesome. I had a couple of trial classes both with Master White and Master Lee. They bring positive energy, motivation, discipline, patience, and genuine kindness to every class.

The Classes:

Once you go through the trial classes, and of course decide you love it (this will happen), you can sign up for either just classes or you can buy all your equipment and sign up for classes. For me, this was awesome. I got new boxing gloves, a new gym bag, some hand wraps (which Master White graciously showed me how to use the first couple of times), ankle support wraps, and of course my uniform. The uniform consists of really nice Muay Thai Shorts and a T-shirt. Gear and clothing are all great quality and comfortable.

Going to class. I was a little nervous and intimidated at first. You shouldn’t be. I was introduced to the class immediately, everyone was very nice and welcoming, and was extremely lucky to have Mrs. Beth (A black belt instructor at BBMAC) as my first partner. (She is awesome). The instructors are hands on and very willing to help no matter what.

If you find yourself going to the gym and not seeing results, in need of some motivation to get off the couch, in need of a change of pace, in need of a new hobby, in need of some new friends, or even in need of some alone time from the kids (yes I said that), ONE CLASS AT BBMAC and I guarantee you are going to want to go again. I can confidently say this because I have seen a variety of skill levels, a variety of physical fitness levels, a variety of body types, and a variety of ages. There is no judgment, no rudeness, no weird looks, no one ignores you, nothing negative. Every person in class is going to high five you, encourage you, motivate you, respect you, smile at you, laugh with you, and groan in despair with you during an abdominal work out. Everything is done together, as a team, as friends, and as a BBMAC family.

BBMAC is a positive environment that will make a boring day into a great one. I find myself jumping out of bed in the morning excited to go to Muay Thai class. You will always get a great workout at BBMAC and you will always walk out the doors feeling ten times better than when you walked in.

Great fitness, great martial arts, great friends, and great value are all part of the community that is Black Belt Martial Arts. Without a doubt, the best thing about BBMAC is the people, you feel like a part of the community from day one, and the instructors and staff work hard to help you focus on your goals and support you in pursuit of them. They are patient, hardworking and knowledgeable and create an environment completely free of “gymtimidation.” The children’s programs focus on behavior and attitude as much as fitness or martial skills, and it’s impressive to see how the kids rise to meet those expectations. The adults can expect the same great attitude from the adult students who are always willing to help and support new students. BBMAC will give great fitness but it will give you quite a bit more as well.

BBMAC is a one of a kind family business. They truly treat you like you're part of the family. From the moment we stepped in the door, we knew this is the place to be. The very first day, Master Lee and all the staff members knew our names! With the amount of students that they have, it’s amazing how they don't forget.

As with any new situation, my son was very nervous. As soon as he met Master Lee for an evaluation, he was instantly at ease due to his kind demeanor and that genuine smile. We signed him up for TaeKwonDo that very day.

The staff are gentle yet firm with the kids. They teach not only proper techniques, but also life lessons. They show support and encouragement by sending postcards and give stars to students. The schedules are flexible and the staff are very easy to talk to. These are just a few things that highlights my positive rating of this place. But most importantly, my son loves it here, always excited to show me new moves that he learned, and he always leaves with a smile.

For as long as I am able, I will continue to send my son here. It's worth every penny! Try them and you won't be disappointed. :)

Every class is different enough to keep it interesting, yet builds on previous lessons. It is very clear there is thought and preparation to each lesson. BBMAC is extremely customer focused. If you mention you want to learn something in particular, they will try to work it in in future classes. They clearly listen to student feedback about the schedule. They have classes frequently, with classes during the day and at night, which makes it very easy to attend. There is a lot of positive reinforcement in the training, you leave class feeling good and will wake up the next day looking forward to going back.

If you are a middle aged person (like I am) and worried that Martial Arts or in particular Muay Thai is too hard for you to train, you can put your mind at ease, BBMAC is a friendly and safe place for you. They are able to make the training fun while you are getting plenty of exercise and there is an overall very friendly vibe from the staff and other students.

The instructors at BBMAC have a high level of technical ability and knowledge and it shows in the classes. They are very good at passing on that information on to the students.

My son started when he was three, and then joined tae kwon do juniors at age six. At that time, I joined the Muay Thai program, and both have been going strong for over two years in our respective programs. My son is an introvert who loves the structure and discipline of TKD, while also the fun and challenge that the BBMAC instructors bring to the mats every day. I can see his confidence on and off the mats, and believe BBMAC has helped instilled that in him -- they build mind and body. For me, I love Muay Thai and the amazing group of adults that "bring it" every day to improve their fitness level, technique, and sparring in a fun and safe environment. We are proud to be BBMACers, and love being part of this great community.

BBMAC has had a profound impact not only on my life but on my family as a whole. You won't understand that impact until you walk through the doors and take a moment to watch the students and instructors and staff in action. You will see a perfect balance of celebrating accomplishments and encouragement to push a little harder - and that not only comes from the instructors but from the students themselves. You will see lasting friendships develop and families bond. You will walk out of those BBMAC doors with a smile on your face and a sense of fulfillment that carries you throughout the rest of your day. BBMAC is a place that is hard to put into words - it is not just a martial arts school - it is an experience.

I can't say enough good things about this place. All 3 of my boys go here and we LOVE it. While they are amazing at teaching the kids martial arts, it doesn't stop there. They teach character. They truly invest in each child. I am constantly in awe of how every instructor knows the name of every child (and there's a LOT of kids). My oldest has been going for 3 years and he has blossomed so much. I credit BBMAC for playing a huge part in helping him to find his confidence. If you're looking for a martial arts center for your kids-this one is the BEST.

My thirteen year old son has been coming here for about six months. Game changing decision. It has been such a tremendous confidence booster for him, and such a fantastic complement to his team sports. The professionalism of the instructors is unparalleled. Really, just watching the precision with which they manage the class dynamic blows me away every time, with the perfect balance of fitness, martial arts technique, and fun. There is such a positive vibe when you walk into this place you can feel it in the air! Yet, there is always an underlying current of respect and self discipline. It's an incredible thing to see and have my son be a part of.
Also, the adult muy thai classes look amazing, definitely not just a dojo for the youngsters. In addition, they recently started a fitness kickboxing class that is conveniently timed during the kids classes - brilliant!!! Now, if you are at bbmac anyway for your kid's class, you can get an intense workout in yourself instead of sitting there watching.
Cannot recommend it enough.

BBMAC is an extraordinary gem in the Kensington area and I am honored to be a part of this family owned Martial Arts school. These instructors are experts in their respective and cross disciplines and the wealth of experience among them exceeds multiple decades. In beginning my journey into Muay Thai, I have found that the classes have been uncanny to any lessons I have ever taken in my life. They're well paced, extremely well thought out and addicting; you will never find two lessons that are the same. One of the most amazing things about this school is that every individual I've come across has always been kind, caring, motivating and always pushing their fellow peers to succeed regardless of belt level. This kindness ranges from giving good, constructive criticism in helping to attain better technique (and even slowing down for people learning) to motivating partners during exercises to finish out a last rep that sometimes may not be thought to be possible at the end of such intense exercises (Express classes). Muay Thai is helping me get into way better shape than I've ever been in my life and I quickly noticed the change in my endurance and strength after just a few weeks in the program.

Sparring is a great way to test the fight thought process and newly acquired skills on the fly. This is not a dojo that promotes violence; sparring at BBMAC is controlled and allows people at all levels of fight experience to test out skills in a safe environment. Martial Arts isn't about going out and exerting destructive force unwarrantedly and without reason; at BBMAC, they take time out of the lesson to go back to the life lessons aspect of these arts which is a holistic and complete approach to ending each lesson (which I love). We are held to our Student creed and Black Belt creed in and outside of the dojo and recite them before and after every lesson. BBMAC is also heavily involved in the community and in helping children learn Martial Arts (such as Tae Kwon Do) to give them structure, defensive skills and a great way to exercise at a young age that's fun and uplifting. In closing, I could not have picked a better place to start this journey into formally diversifying my Martial Arts and MMA skillsets and I thank BBMAC for it's etiquette, principles, and character.

Love BBMAC! Not only are the adult Muay Thai workouts totally butt-kicking, you get to do it with a great group of people of all ages, sizes, colors, and skill levels! Haven't had this much fun sweating and working out since college sports which was longer ago than I care to admit. Highly recommend giving it a try!

A great place to really get in shape! I've been taking the adult Muay Thai classes here for several years. It's an all around great package from instructors to fellow students. It's not a "fight" gym, but we do have fun sparring and practicing the combinations and techniques we drill with partners. Everyone is supportive and they really do help us keep consistent with our goals - whether that be just getting in better shape (they have even added a straight fitness kickboxing class) to those who want to really improve their Muay Thai sparring skills.

The Taekwando program is quit large and is for both kids and adults. My own son completed his 1st degree black belt here and I can really confirm that not only do they do a great job with the adults in Muay Thai, but an outstanding job with the kids. Lots of positive feedback and reinforcement to get the kids to perform and remember their forms and techniques.
