After taking Body & Brain Yoga for 8 years, I am so happy with the results of the training. Karen, the owner and main instructor, is an outstanding and inspirational teacher, very aware of each students' individual needs and abilities. The classes are always interesting because of the manner in which Karen varies the movements as she alternates class activities. i have improved my overall stamina and flexibility since enrolling in this training and would highly recommend it. I really love it!

Aspen Hill Brain and Body yoga classes are great! I go in tired, with a headache, stressed and come out an hour later feeling relaxed and happy. I started with Karen four years ago and the practice, combined with her wonderful instruction and energy have made a huge difference in my life.

As soon as I walked in to the studio, I knew I had found something special. Teacher Karen is welcoming, patient, and very comfortable explaining her system to people like me without a background in this style of mind-body exercise. I particularly like the variety of physical and mental exercises that we do to enhance strength, balance, mood, breathing, and energy. I have seen that everyone gains by participating in these classes -- even those who come in feeling negatively about their own physical abilities. Personally, I have recovered flexibility impacted by surgery and also seen benefits such as improved digestion and reduced stress levels. Over time, I have gained so much by attending class -- and I have also learned techniques to practice on my own and to suggest to others. This studio is a healing space, Karen is a gifted teacher, and class is a positive time -- and I think we all can use more of that!

I have been going to Aspen Hill Body and Brain Yoga about 3 times a week for 7 months. Before I started, I had knee and back pain just about everyday. My energy was very low; it was hard to climb stairs, and I felt like I was just dragging myself through life. Now my knee and back pain are only every once in a while, and my energy level is much better. I find all physical activity easier, and I go to sleep easily and sleep soundly.
Karen is very knowledgeable, and is a skilled, caring teacher. She always has a smile on her face - even if I don't - LOL. The workout is varied so I don't get bored. Each day has a different primary focus, though we touch on all aspects in each session. By the end of the week, we have done Core work, Stretching, Aerobic activity and Energy work.
Everyone is welcome regardless of age or ability. It is a wonderful place, and I highly recommend it.

I have been coming to Body & Brain Aspen Hill yoga for at least 3+ years. It has made such a huge difference in my life. I am healthier, I've lost weight, and I'm more flexible. I remember when I first started, the bottoms of my feet hurt all the time. I'm happy to say, not so much anymore. I think that's amazing. I used to get headaches quite frequently. Advil used to be my best friend. I can't remember the last time I took Advil since I've been coming here. I still get headaches from time to time due to stressing myself out, but I have learned how to alleviate them naturally using my breathing and relaxing my brain. My joints feel better, my feet feel better, my brain feels better. I am a happier me. You are made to feel comfortable no matter what age or body size and it's great for all levels. I really appreciate that. This yoga is very healing to your body, mind and soul and you learn so much about yourself along the way.

For over 10 years, I have practiced the kind of Korean, healing yoga that Karen offers at her studio in Aspen Hill. She is, by far, the best yoga instructor I have ever had. In each class, Karen demonstrates her endless creativity and amazing technical skills ... and I feel stronger, more balanced, flexible and energetic. Karen is always good-natured, caring and patient-- a wonderful and much-needed combination for a Master teacher.

Karen Preysnar is an exceptionally good instructor. She pays close attention to details, especially with her clients. She is very energetic with a great sense of humor. She is also a great motivator.
I joined Aspen Hill Body & Brain Yoga about 4 months ago and I plan to go to the center for years to come. My health has not been good due to neck and shoulder problems, but I see some improvements with the yoga classes. My neck has improved with more range of motion and my shoulders feel a lot better. My breathing has also improved a lot.

Ever since I started yoga at Body and Brain, I've noticed an immediate reaction with my body. My bones used to ache and i was diagnosed with arthritis. I have been practicing yoga since October 2014 and I feel 100% again. I used to feel fatigued and now I have so much energy. I have also been in chemo treatments since January and at first I found myself depressed. My physical and mental health are now transformed into a renewed person. In addition, my attitude changed. I am so enthused about life. I truly believe yoga at Body & Brain in Aspen Hill was one of the best decisions I made in my life. I encourage all those suffering the same physical issues to try it as well! It will work wonders!

I came to Body and Brain Yoga four moths ago wondering if this might be what I was looking for in an exercise and meditation program. Under the thoughtful and caring leadership of Karen, each class is a journey of discovery, and I am more relaxed, focused, strong, and flexible than I was 10 years ago, which is saying much considering I am embarking on this journey in my 60th year. My classmates--from all ages and walks of life--never cease to impress me, we are all here on the same journey. I have found more than what I was looking for at Body & Brain Aspen Hill!

Before I started at Aspen Hill Body & Brain Yoga I was very achy, stiff and tight. I kept telling my doctor and he thought I was just crazy. Brainwise I wasn’t functioning right, I couldn’t think clearly or focus well. When I started here it was like a lightbulb went off. After my first class people noticed something different right away. They said you look skinnier, did you lose some weight? I’ve been coming 6 weeks and now I can bend in ways I couldn't before and my waistline is tighter. I can also balance much better and I think more positively. I‘m always a happy person but I feel like I’m even happier and my brain is working better because my ideas are coming in more clearly. I think the meditation and deep breathing is clearing away the blockages I used to have. My abdomen used to be so hard I thought I had a tumor growing inside like a big hard balloon and now it feels so soft. I want to tell everyone you should give it a try. It’s like an addiction and when I don’t come I feel like I need to be there, it’s just vital to the soul.

For many years, I’ve slept fitfully, getting 2 to 4 hours of sleep. This would go on for 3, 4 or 5 nights and then I’d get a solid 4-6 hours sleep. This pattern would repeat. As I've aged, my sleep has decreased. Friends suggested I try Tylenol PM. I tried it once. I took one tablet and slept seven hours! But for two days I dragged around, sapped of energy (I should mention that I’ve always been hyper-sensitive to medications). My doctor suggested I try yoga.
I followed her advice and visited Aspen Hill Body and Brain Yoga. That is where I met Karen, the owner and instructor. And she turned out to be a a superb teacher. She works with grace and ease.
She models every move so beginners can see each move, step by step. As I began, she was patient and made sure I didn’t try to do more than I was capable of. Gradually, I’ve worked my way into more of the regimen, gaining confidence as I go.
The hour is is divided into several parts - stretching arms, legs and head; twisting into various positions; and mediative breathing exercises while we lie on our backs. I’ve come to understand the many benefits of the breathing exercises - relaxation, better physical health, deeper concentration. Best of all, yoga has made a huge impact on my sleep. I usually get a night’s sleep and wake up feeling alert and rested.
Karen has been an ideal yogi. She is empathetic, encouraging, understanding and has a good sense of humor to boot. I’ve been attending two or three yoga classes each week for about six months and I leave each session feeling better than when I arrived. And I finally get the sleep I need.

After a lifetime of no exercise I decided to try yoga. Brain & Body Aspen Hill was recommended to me by a good friend who truly seemed to love it. I could not have been more pleased. I immediately felt a sense of peace and belonging and knew that I had found the right place!
Karen is a wonderful instructor. She is calm, kind and attentive. She quides us patiently with a sense of humor and joy. She maintains a wonderful balance between challenge and comfort and seems to know what each of us needs. I love the content and the variety of each class....I look forward to being there and miss it when I can't. I never thought at age 70 I would be standing taller, feeling stronger and so delighted to be part of such a rewarding practice.

I am 65 years old with a dance/exercise and body therapy background and I have experienced (and taught) many kinds of exercise and movement re-education systems. I have found Master Karen's classes very effective. The Dahn yoga program is quite comprehensive and includes work on flexibility, strength, balance, breathwork and relaxation. However, my experience has been that the ultimate power of the class on one's body lies in its focus on life energy. Throughout the class Karen reminds us to be in touch with our foundation, our own energy. After taking the class for a year (attending two or three times a week), I became aware of many subtle positive changes, including a general feeling of balanced well-being and an increased sense of joy. Also, after the first year on the program, I was able to change to a more nutritious vegetarian diet, losing more than twenty pounds in the process (although losing weight was not a goal!) without the difficulty and resistance I had experienced so many times in the past. I attribute this to the more harmonious condition of my body-mind.
I must add that the key to my enjoyment of the classes has very much to do with Master Karen as a person and with her ability as a teacher. She models the work she teaches as an amazingly consistent, healing, joyful presence.

This is not your regular everyday yoga. It is so much more than that. It's a combination of stretches,Tai Chi like movements, and deep deep meditation that tap into your brain waves. I love that it's for all ages. There are no levels in the classes. However, you can take workshops that help you to become an instructor.
Karen takes great care to focus on our individual needs. The class exercises are simple but challenging. We focus extensively on getting in tune with our energy to help heal ourselves through various exercises including working with magnets. I love when we dance/move to tribal like rhythms to get all of the stress of the day out of our bodies. I love the energy meditations and can now sense my own energy and have more control over my negative thoughts. The workshops offered (some free, some affordable, some expensive) are wonderful. They help you see into yourself and to strive to be a healthier and happy person. The exercises in these workshops are very powerful. I truly see a difference in myself, my perspective of myself and my health. This yoga also focuses on respect for the earth, each other, and yourself. That means a lot to me.
I love having tea and sharing our energy meditation experiences after each class. Master Karen is a great teacher and instructor. She is motivating and encouraging. Her classes are not only healing, but fun as well. When I miss a class, I feel like something's missing, my body feels like something is missing.
I've also met such wonderful people including the instructors from different locations. My first year anniversary is this month. I find that I am less stressful and my hot flashes are so much better now. They are less frequent and intense. Believe me, that makes me very happy. I really could go on and on. I know I've left out something, just like I do when we have tea after classes.
Thank you Karen.

This yoga practice is far more beneficial than I expected! The combination of exercise, yoga and energy work leave me relaxed and alert by the end of class. Karen's leadership is calm, skillful and joyful. We are young and not so young, skilled body workers and beginners, those with toned bodies and bodies with needs. Many of us are experiencing definite regular improvement in health and body issues. I look forward to each class!

I've practiced Yoga off and on for many years, and consider my experience with Body and Brain Yoga the best. Besides the benefits of the exercises at Aspen Hill body and brain, I particularly appreciate the healing aspects, the personal attention, and training in improving the integrated functioning of the body. There is a lot of variety in the classes and I love going to class. Karen, the instructor is just great....a wonderful teacher. She is knowledgeable. caring and has a great sense of humor. She brings joy to the class and students love her. With her leading and support, I have grown far beyond my expectations. She is a consummate professional. The membership at Aspen Hill is warm and friendly. In all aspects, it is a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Everyone who commits to the training here finds their life changed for the better. I highly recommend Aspen Hill Body and Brain.

After experiencing my very first Dahn Yoga class, I found myself truly at peace. Originally, I went to class just to achieve that peaceful state of being. Then two weeks later, I noticed that I was feeling happier than before and energized. There were added health benefits as well. My poor circulation and weak immune system had improved. I am more focused and coordinated. Not only am I full of joy, at peace and more confident, but I'm healing emotionally, physically and spiritually as well. The powerful techniques taught are very effective, positive and are life changing. Karen is very knowledgeable and professional. She creates and instructs fun classes. You won't need a "gym buddy" to motivate you to go to class !
