I recently stopped by the gym and had a good experience. It all started with trying to call the Rockville location, but couldn’t get through to anyone. However, I was able to get someone in billing. She was very informative & helpful. When in person at the Rockville location coach Will was very attentive and kind with the kids. $5 open gym was great !

We’ve been at DDGA for 3 years and I’ve watched how my children’s confidence has boosted not just physically in what they can do, but mentally also. We’ve enjoyed working with the team at DDGA!

We visited to check out the facility to see if our kid liked it or summer camp.

It was going well until the owner (DD) approached us looking extremely annoyed and aggressively asked us to stop using a structure.
We told her we paid for the visit and that we were trying it out to see if our kid liked it.

No apology was offered (though) at that point we decided we def weren’t going to sign up for camp.

My 18 month old loved her first class. Her instructor was a fantastic mix of knowledgeable and assistive to the small children in the movements of gymnastics, but also knowledgeable about the children themselves. She guided, but did not make requirements or push them to do things and seemed completely understanding of developmental stages. We truly loved our experience and plan to continue going for a long time

I absolutely love the Ninja program at Dominique Dawes Gymnastics & Ninja Academy — the coaches are energetic, supportive, and make every class fun while helping the kids build real strength and confidence. My child looks forward to it every week!

However, I think the gymnastics program could use some improvement. The structure and coaching consistency aren’t quite at the same level as the Ninja side. With a little more focus on individualized instruction and engagement, it could be just as great.

Overall, the facility is clean, welcoming, and full of potential — we’ll definitely keep coming for Ninja!

My daughter has been attending the academy for a year and a half and absolutely loves it. She has gained so much confidence from doing so. She went from the younger kids side to the big kids side and expressed that she was ready for more of a challenge. She loves her old coach Nevaeh and her current coach Nicole. She looks forward to going and learning new skills every Monday. She attends the Rockville location.

We’ve been bringing our three daughters to this Rockville location for the past two years and have had a consistently great experience. The staff has always been kind, helpful, and supportive, and our girls absolutely love the summer camps here!

We also recently hosted a birthday party at this location and couldn’t be more pleased. Coach Will was phenomenal—from the moment we arrived, he made us feel welcome, handled all the setup with great attention to detail, ran fun and engaging games with the kids, and helped clean up and pack our belongings with such care. His energy was fantastic, and he made the entire event smooth and stress-free.

We’re so grateful for his effort and enthusiasm—and for all the coaches here who make this such a fun and positive place for kids to keep learning and growing!

Teachers are great and my child loves it. But the low rating is for the cleanliness of this place. It is very bad. Doesn't look like it's been cleaned since it opened. Everything needs to be scrubbed down including the bathrooms. Plus it doesn't help that the kids walk around barefoot.

EDIT: 6 months in after management contacted me to talk about how they are improving place is still the same. But now smells like sweaty feet. I’ll leave my review as is.

We really like the gymnastics classes for our kids! Our only concern is that sometimes the children aren’t being spotted properly during activities. Also, I’d like to suggest opening a class specifically for boys—many moms are looking for boys-only gymnastics classes.

We love Dominique Dawes Gymnastics & Ninja Academy very much, especially my daughter who loves gymnastics and ninja. Every teacher here is very friendly. She gets a lot of exercise here and I see her improvement and growing stronger. My daughter is always happy and interested in class and she loves to exercise. There is a big field and different areas here, which is great. I am very grateful to all the teachers for their patience and kindness to the children. I hope my daughter can learn more exercise skills here and become stronger and stronger.

My daughter is having a blast at DDGNA. It has improved her agility and confidence.
I do have a gripe with the absence policy that was recently instituted. For the money we pay a month, I think they should be a little accommodating to scheduled absences, especially if their sessions are scheduled on the weekend. Sometimes our kids need to schedule more than 1 absence a month and this policy is really constricting on our schedules and finances if we're expected to eat the money if more than 1 absence needs to be made -- especially during flu season.

My 4 year old daughter is visibly improving every week. She was not able to do a lot of the skills in the fall and can now do them confidently. The coaches talk to her one on one and are very patient with her when she is learning something. Our daughter has been at Dominque Dawes for two years. We started in the seedlings class at 2 and she has advanced to buds. She looks forward to it every week and even had her 4th birthday there. The coaches are great and it’s very clean. Their old system made it difficult to get into classes but they have since updated! An insider tip is to register in the summer when indoor activities are less popular!

Does not offer adaptive lessons for children with special needs. I feel like in this day and age these types of establishments have a great opportunity to set a standard by offering a more inclusive environment and options for children who may demonstrate interest and talent but may need a more tailored approach. Current statistics show that 1 in 36 kids in the US are born with autism...this is becoming more and more prevalent so if you truly care about cultivating raw talent at an early age, why not look at ways you can add value by creating a schedule for these kids too? Its becoming increasingly frustrating reaching out to ask if adaptive lessons are offered and the person on the other line has no idea what I'm talking about or to be dismissed as if theyre being inconvenienced. Do better.

Read the entire policy word to word before you sign up at this place. The front desk gives out different instructions than what the call center does. Their online system also allows your to double book instead of swappign the class and they keep double charging. And they dont offer a full refund or credit.

We love DDGA. My daughter has been going for two years now to the Rockville location and we love the instructors and the facilities. However, I urge management to have someone answer the phones. It is very difficult to just communicate through parent portal messages when we are regulars of the gym. Sometimes there are last minute changes or we need to inquire about makeup sessions or submit an absence related to illness, etc. Emails also take too long to be responded to. It is the only part of the experience that is frustrating.

My 5 yr old has done the ninja and junior summer camp for two summers and school closure camp. He loves it! He is always excited to go, is treated warmly by all the diverse staff members, and exhausted after a full day of activities. We bumped into Dominque Dawes in the parking lot and she was so gracious. The camps fill fast by the time summer hits so I recommend checking the website early to get a spot.

Do not sign up on the waiting list before you read the fine print. They make you pay the annual fee, then you have to wait to get an email for a spot available, the parent that replies first gets it- it’s a first comes first served basis- based on that email reply. Two months after I registered, finally I received the email, I replied 30 minutes later because I was at work, and the spot was no longer available. I have been waiting for four months. They should secure the spot in order of registration. I was able to get my daughter at another gym.

I am not one to write reviews but I feel you should really be cautious before doing business with this gym. It is truly challenging to speak with anyone over the phone. After multiple emails I was finally called and they are simply not accommodating in the least. I spent $120 for one class and another $111 with the request of changing gyms and was told no multiple times. Therefore, I then requested a credit to be placed on the account that referred me to the gym. Again being told no. These are simple choices not to work with families. With the lack of leadership at this business it is nothing more than incredibly frustrating to work with them. I sincerely do not recommend this gym. Simply sad I hope they fix this very quickly! I was so excited for my son to join however this could not have been a worse experience.

We were so underwhelmed by our experience at this facility. Our 3
year old daughter had an amazing instructor for 3 classes and then she was replaced with a very junior low energy teacher who seemed distracted and bored for the entire class. When we approached the director about this they agreed and said our initial instructor was a trainer and they know they don’t have that caliber of teacher readily available. When we went to disenroll we lost all of our makeup classes because of the policy which the director said she had no influence or flexibility on. Save your money and find a better program!

My 8yo daughter has loved her experience in the Ninja 2 class since enrolling several months ago. The instructors in this class are enthusiastic and engage well with this age group. The facilities are expansive and well maintained. My daughter is always excited to attend class, gets great exercise during class, and is in a great mood at the end of class. This is really what it's all about in my view.

There is always room for improvement in any operation and this place is no exception, however I don't think the several 1-star reviews that are specifically about birthday parties don't truly give an accurate picture of the primary purpose of this gym which is to provide ongoing classes in a safe and positive environment. In my experience they excel at the latter.

Our experience with this gymnastics center has been nothing short of fantastic! The facility is clean and well-organized and I appreciate the bleachers for parents to watch the sessions from. Although the facility is very nice and new, the management appears to be somewhat disorganized, possibly due to lack of experienced staff. Additionally, the pricing is higher compared to other gyms. I hope they can enhance their management, especially in terms of advancement and makeup classes. On one occasion, I was already on the way to take my kids for a makeup class when I received a call informing me that the class was canceled, disrupting our plans.

I seldom write reviews but I thought it was important to give feedback on the poor experience we had today at Dominique Dawes Gymnastics and Ninja Academy for my son’s birthday party. We attended the grand opening of the Rockville location earlier in 2023 and were amazed at the layout and the friendly staff. We had planned to come back to try out open gym but the year flew by. Based on our initial impression, we blindly booked a $400 birthday party package. Big mistake.

We were contacted the afternoon before the party (two hours before closing) related to an administrative error stating that we had extended our party time slot by 30 minutes. Luckily I was able to call the front desk person for clarification before the office closed at which time I was informed that since we had the 2:30PM slot, we don’t even get the option of extending the party if we wanted to (only the earlier time slot parties have the ability to do so). That makes no sense that if the only slot available to book is the 2:30PM and if one wants their kids to have enough time to play and eat, extended time is not an option.

That was just the start of our issues with the birthday party experience. When it was time for us to use the party room, we felt rushed the entire time by the host. I felt under the gun to hurry up and force kids to choke down pizza because every 2 minutes (literally, no exaggeration), I was being told that we only had X number of minutes left. After the 3rd time that the host told me, “We have to wrap up at 4 or you’ll get charged extra,” it got to the point that I asked if we were being charged by the minute because nowhere in the contract, confirmation email, or confirmation phone call (when I myself called to clarify details) was I told we would be charged extra for going minutes past 4PM.

Our guests barely got to sing happy birthday or eat their cupcakes because even though we had 6 minutes to spare, the host kept repeating that we could leave everything (trash and all) where it was, essentially passive aggressively shooing us out the door. It was sad that I could not enjoy the special moments of the party with my family and friends due to having to glance at my watch every 90 seconds.

More time and care needs to be placed into the client experience at this venue. To be honest, if I had read some of the online reviews before booking this party, I likely would have taken my business elsewhere. I have 3 children under the age of 7, and this is not our first or last party at an activity space. Unfortunately, due to this poor customer service experience, Dominique Dawes Gymnastics and Ninja Academy is one of two places that we have booked that will remain memorable for negative reasons.

Today was my first time visiting Dominique Dawes' gym for a birthday party. General comment, the signage needs to be improved as it is not at at all clear that the facility is in the BACK of the strip mall. We attended the gym for a birthday party of a dear friend and were excited as we heard so many great things about the gym. I will say, the facilities are beautiful and clean. My kids had a blast. This rating is for the extremely poor and unprofessional service my friend received while trying to celebrate her baby's birthday.

1st. If the gym is going to decide to hold birthday parties they need to ensure that guests have a 2-hour time block. If this cannot be accommodated then they should rethink offering this service. The party took place from 2:30-4. Children were given 1 hour to play with 30 minutes for cake and refreshments. Given the size and amount of FUN the kids were having, 1 hour just isn't enough time and almost every child was crying when they announced the open gym was over and had to go into the party room. Second, you would have thought the staff person leading the event worked on a Toyota assembly line. She INCESSENTLY reiterated to my friend AND the guests how many minutes we had left. You couldn't even enjoy the play time without being reminded you were about to be kicked out of the building. 3. We get to the room for pizza. The staff member insisted on serving everyone food, which from a customer service perspective, was fine. But when you have guests on a minute and second count down, it literally would have been faster to let parents get their kids food. By the time the kids were done eating, we sang happy birthday to the birthday boy but no one could enjoy their cupcakes because the staff member was telling my friend she only had 3 minutes left and would be charged extra. So we all hustled to try and get our kids' things together, cupcakes in hand, and assist my friend's family (who has a whole newborn child with them) to gather things. We waited at the entrance to take a group photo while the rest of the staff were locking up and giving us annoyed looks. If the expectation of the facility is that their staff will leave and the building will be vacated promptly at 4:00, THEN DON'T ALLOW BIRTHDAY PARTIES TO GO TO 4:00.

Overall, it's disappointing because I always aim to support a black business, the facility was beautiful, and my children did have fun for the one hour on the dot and not 1 minutes more they were allowed to play (Insert eyeroll). I might be back in a non-birthday environment. I DEFINITELY would recommend AGAINST holding a birthday party here unless you like a military style run event with no flexibility or grace.

Who is responding to customers on the parent portal? Maybe pass the torch to somebody more customer service oriented, because we may be done with DDGA.

We've been with Dominique Dawes for several years at both Clarksburg and Rockville. Easily spent over 10k in classes and camps. It started out amazing but has gone downhill over the years and with the new location in Rockville.

The communication between management and parents at the Rockville location needs help. I don't know who is on the other end of the parent portal emails but it's the only way they respond to any class changes, registration questions etc.

The Rockville location has never answered the phone when we call to change classes etc. If you ask instructors or any staff in the office to make changes etc they always say you have to message through parent portal.
Ok fine, thing is, the person on the other side of the parent portal is basically on an active mission to have parents want to leave and find another ninja or gymnastics gym.

Our latest experience, promoting this review was
1. We asked to de-enroll immideatly from a class via parent portal. Doesn't work for our schedules any longer.
2. They responded next day and said they received our message and could give us a credit for unused time if we wanted but not refund. Or we could cancel at the end of the month.
3. We thought about it and responded and they said we're too late and will no longer give us a credit.

It was 6 days later, we thought the credit decision was trivial and we were de-enrolled when I wrote "please de enroll effective immediately". They never stated a timeline to respond and they knew we were going to withdraw based on our first message.

4. I wrote back stating that I'd like them to honor what they offered

5. They wrote back saying they'd make an exception, honor their offer and tried to school us on their policy. Not attempting to smooth anything over or be kind to keep customers.

DDGA - We know your policies. Have been with you for a long time. You gave us a choice in what to do and then went back on it when we said yes, and were rude about it saying how you made an exeption.

We're done with DDGA Rockville for a bit. We'll see if it recovers and goes back to the place we fell in love with several years ago and maybe revisit.

This is not our only negative experience with Rockville but it is the one that pushed me to write a review.

I was filling out waiver for my child to go to a party and they REQUIRE that parents agree to having their kids photos etc posted on social media. There is no option to opt out of this despite my calling and requesting this. The person I spoke to said the choice was to agree or my child would not be able to attend her friends party. Not kid/family friendly and very disappointed they would violate privacy this way.

I am writing solely on how they operate their waitlist system, which outdated and needs to be modernized. I received an email informing me that there was a spot available for the class I have my kid waitlisted on, and upon responding, 17mins after receiving the email, I receive a response that the spot has been taken and I am back on the waitlist. Upon calling to inquire how they operate their waitlist, I was informed that they don't rank the waitlist and when an opening comes up an email is sent to all families currently on the waitlist making it a first come, first serve battle to win the spot. This is a very outdated practice especially as some busy parents don't have the luxury to stay glued to their inbox 24/7 waiting for an email to come through. There should be a ranking system and at least a 24hr period to respond at the minimum, when a spot is offered. I hope that they revisit their practice and deploy a system that is fair and reasonable for managing the waitlist.
