Love this place!! The indoor pool is large and the lifeguards were very knowledgeable and nice. I appreciated the ample amount of parking and space in the locker rooms.
They also were very accommodating to my high-support needs autistic sister, allowing her to enjoy herself and explained clearly to us where she can and cannot swim (some areas are closed off due to swim lessons and physical therapy). Sometimes at other facilities, staff feel too uncomfortable to interact with her, so I like that the staff here treated her like a human and not like she has some sort of disease.

Iβve been coming here for years, and Fairland Sports and Aquatics Complex never fails to deliver a top-tier experience for workouts, family fun, and friendly competition. Itβs my go-to spot when I want reliable facilities, great staff, and a welcoming atmosphere.
What keeps me coming back
Diverse aquatics and fitness options: Indoor and outdoor pools, a well-equipped gym, and an inviting lap lane setup make it perfect for serious swimmers and casual splashes alike. The water is clean, well-maintained, and temperatures feel consistent across visits.
Fantastic for families: The kidsβ splash zones, shallow wading areas, and family-friendly pool hours make it easy to enjoy a day with little ones without sacrificing quality time for adults.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff: Lifeguards and front-desk teams are consistently attentive, helpful, and approachable. Theyβre quick to assist with everything from locker room tips to class schedules.
Cleanliness and safety: The facility is well-kept, with clear signage, tidy locker rooms, and visible safety protocols that put me at ease whether Iβm coaching a swim lesson or just enjoying the water.
Flexible programming: Seasonal swim lessons, water aerobics, and community classes keep things fresh. The fitness center and courts are great for workouts before or after a swim.
Facilities and amenities
Pools: Clean, nicely heated, and well-supervised. Lap lanes are clearly marked, and there are plenty of shaded seating areas for spectators.
Gym and courts: A solid selection of cardio and strength equipment, plus courts for basketball or pickleballβperfect for a full afternoon of activity.
Family-friendly conveniences: Locker rooms with abundant lockers, showers, and change areas, plus a welcoming environment for guests of all ages.
Parking and accessibility: Ample parking, easy access for strollers, and ramps where needed. The layout makes it simple to navigate even on busy days.
Programs I love
Swim lessons for kids and adults that are well-structured and progress-focused.
Water aerobics and shallow-water classes that are great for low-impact workouts.
Community swim meets and open swim times that let you cheer on local athletes or log some leisurely laps.
Tips for a smooth visit
Check the schedule ahead of time: Open swim hours, class times, and special events can fill up quickly.
Arrive early on busy days to snag preferred lanes or a comfy viewing spot.
Pack a towel, sunscreen for outdoor days, and a small snack for before or after workouts.
Bring a lock or use on-site lockers; the facility is secure, but itβs nice to have a personal lock.
Bottom line
Fairland Sports and Aquatics Complex in Laurel is a reliable, welcoming hub for fitness enthusiasts, families, and community athletes. It combines quality facilities with a friendly culture and practical convenience, making it a standout choice for year-round recreation. Highly recommended for frequent visitors who value consistency, clean facilities, and a warm, community feel.

The place is great but the front desk girls (Lotaya and Jenet??) were very rude and disrespectful when asked about general information to center. They should not be on the front desk rather, if they have to stay, they should be given back office duties.

My recent visit (late June) was decent I suppose. There were a lot of people but it was manageable. I must say though, the staff overall, like some ladies sitting around with βinstructorβ shirts on, were unpleasant and unfriendly. I'm sure it gets frustrating since it's loud and dealing with the crowded pool is a lot. However, service is everything in my opinion. They should train these folks to be super friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
Another big turnoff to note for me was that the hot tub was noticeably dirty. Itβs gross when you can see dirt and debris atop the water. Also, it didn't feel warm enough to me.
Lastly, I found that the womenβs dressing room needed a good cleaning as well.

Today I was not very happy with the customer service that I received. I came into a require about swimming lessons and the two ladies at the front were very standoffish. One was reading a book like sheβs extremely busy and not that knowledgeable about what they offer and came off very dismissive and the fact that there will be no swimming lessons available until after August is very disappointing

Update requested... water is still consistently cold, lots of us complain and they could care less. Great place if only the water in temperature in the pool was consistent. Most often, it is cold. Sure, after swimming, you adjust, but is it so very hard to turn the temperature up some. They would get 5 stars then.

I loved this community center my whole life growing up! My favorite part of this place is the beautiful park, the trail & indoor pool! Although, In recent times there has been very rude staff members in the entrance who just donβt give the welcoming feeling youβd like. Hopefully the attitude changes around and Residents can be welcomed in the right way.

Nice tennis facility. Plenty of parking. Reasonable prices. My favorite thing is the ample amount of room behind the baseline you have. 2 rows of 3 courts for 6 total. Sometimes balls can roll under the curtains and can easily go from 1 row to the other. It's not a big deal, just happening perhaps 2 or 3 times per hour, but I wish this could be improved.

Love this place. My son does year-round swim here and itβs usually pretty packed out for meets. Definitely get here early if youβre coming to a meet and you want a bleacher seat, if not, bring a folding chair or try to grab a seat outside in the lobby. Also, pack snacks/drinks because their vending machines are iffy. Theyβre known to take your money and not give anything in return or just flat out be empty. But all in all, itβs a great place! Iβve been coming here since I was a little girl, lots of things to do outside as well.

I used to go to this swimming pool for years; at least 10 years, probably more. Loved that place, until sometime ago acquired a cutaneous infection there. No wonder: the pool was often overcrowded and as a consequence likely contaminated with germs from fecal matter and urine. Evidently, those might not be completely killed by chlorine. I stopped going to this aquatic complex after that.

The employees are all nice, the facility is clean, the pool's are impressive, the lifeguards are knowledgeable....but the communication seems to be lacking. There are "too many cooks in the kitchen" and it shows. Website is not up to date and everyone is too busy doing their own thing, so no one knows what the other person is doing. I took a Lifeguarding Course there. 3 out of the 4 days I arrived for the course, the Front Desk had no idea there was a course happening & had to ask multiple people before getting the information on where we had to go. For paying $200.00, it seemed our course was sidelined in favor of more lucrative activities. We never had a designated area to meet, our course was held wherever there was room available.

This exquisitely designed and impeccably maintained facility truly exemplifies excellence. However, the absence of a provision to secure personal belongings with individual locker keys akin to one's own home keys somewhat hinders the convenience of utilization. It feels reminiscent of a bygone era, necessitating the request for quarters as if we were transported back to the year 1960.

The white woman at the desk on weekdays at 11:30 AM has an attitude problem. Many people have not been out since before the pandemic began. Why would we be familiar with the policies from three years ago? I had to click through three website pages to get to the "General Swim" polices. How about put it on the HOMEPAGE? Work on your customer service skills.

Overall, a nice facility. The water is a decent temperature, and the locker rooms are kept in good repair and clean. One substantial negative is the number of swim teams that use the pool. At some times of the evening, there are essentially 1-2 lanes for public swim. The lifeguards prioritize swimming lessons and swim teams over other public use. There have been several times where I was using a lane marked for lap swim and a lifeguard will ask if they can use the lane for a swim test. It's intrusive and inconsiderate. Just because the swim teams, etc, are paying doesn't mean they run the facility. The public pays for access as well. Recommend a more balanced approach.

10 years is the amount of time I've been coming to this pool. I'm an ex-competitive swimmer and Fairland is my home pool and it's one of the best pools I've been to. Sure, the air can get a little hard to breathe in sometimes (happens during the summer when it's really hot) and the water a little warmer than my liking, but it's rare that this happens. If it does, it's usually resolved in a few days up to a week or so. The amenities are of the nicest I've ever had and the pool is huge. It's a nice place with clean floors and spacious locker rooms as well as clean water and usually plenty of space. The staff and frequent swimmers are all really nice too!

Update- I've seen people working in the pool a month ago and changing tiles. I have not been in there though. I have seen doors with signature of cleaning that have been up to date.
Went during open swim hours with a 7 and 3 year old. There were plenty of space and lanes open. Many lifeguards were on duty around the entire area.
I haven't been since the pandemic, so it was nice to return and see many of the same lifeguards teaching classes and on duty. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. The facilities were normally clean.
The floor was a little dirty around the swim areas and many of the seating was wet due to the roof dripping in several areas. I see used gum, leaf, hair, paper, and other things on the floor.
Seating is limited around the pool areas but there are many upstairs in the bleachers area. There's also an area outside the bleachers. Normally they have tables and chairs, but I can't remember seeing them today.

Let me tell you a little background story before I get on with the actual review:
I went to this same swimming complex about a year ago at the age of 12 (now 13) and I was able to get to the swimming part pretty quickly after arriving inside. Now a year later about a few days ago I went again but now they would ask me to take a test before accessing the pool. Being 5'4 and 13 kind of made me confused as to my previous height of about 5'1 because I could access almost half of the pool up to the 6 feet point. And might I tell you that I may have been playing around the lobby as I was waiting so that could have triggered the employees working at the signing room.
Because of my overall experience from a year ago compared to now, I feel like I should rate this a 3/5.
I'll probably go again to see if the results change but for now I'm keeping my stars the way it is.
