Have been going to the gym for about 3 months, I workout about 3-4 times a week and wear slides 3/4ths of the time. I even wore slides when I opened my membership. Tell me why today the employee that was working, a young man, decides to kick me out of the gym because of my footwear but not any other day or on the very first day when he helped me get my membership. I’ve seen people every day of the week here in slides and today I get kicked out. Didn’t I sign a waiver to even be a member here and you are concerned about my footwear? Stuff like this is exactly why people avoid commercial gyms and I will probably change as soon as the opportunity arises

Absolutely disgusting gym. It's filthy. Bathrooms are so nasty. The AC doesn't work and it's ridiculously hot and humid in there. Staff are a bunch of the laziest people you will ever see employed anywhere. Not to mention, it's a revolving door of new staff all the time. They don't clean anything, equipment is broken and in disrepair. They're too busy on their phones. They barely have high school diplomas yet are supposed to be giving health and fitness advice? Just proves that the designation "certified personal trainer" is a joke of an online certificate (if these folks can even claim they're "certified"). There is certainly no one with any exercise science or kinesiology degree working here. They give poor advice to clients and are setting them up for injuries. Wifi is slower than dial up AOL from 30 years ago. RF pad to enter after hours rarely works so it's a gamble on whether you'll be able to get in in or not. I've been a member since the day they opened their doors but will be canceling our memberships. Howard County Health Dept has been notified too. Hopefully they fine this place or shut it down. Proof is in the pics. Do yourselves a favor and stay away!

9/9/25 update....... SEVERAL treadmills still not working (at least 3). They are filthy, dusty, covered in sweat. Obviously management doesn't care (which is obvious when you see them walking around doing nothing). Strongly consider other gyms.

DO NOT DONATE EQUIPMENT HERE. They will sell the equipment or use in manager's personal gym. I donated a box squat, which is now gone. The gym is old and rundown in need of new equipment (bent barbells, broken deadlift platforms, ripped bench cushions, broken machines, lack of 2.5 lb weights) and could be much better if owners placed value on anything more than short-term profits. They claimed a remodel of the gym to get new customers, but just rotated the existing equipment in the gym, not adding any new equipment, what a shame! Solid cheap gym for squats, presses, and machine isolation, nothing more than that.

My only complaint for this gym is the personal trainer shown in the pictures not sure what his problem is but hes very disrespectful blurting out negative comments about my brother to his client while we were right next to them so i confronted him about it and he said “i can say what i want” and ive had friends tell me he was doing the same to them talking disrespectful about them to his client that hes helping. Terrible guy, terrible personal trainer, honestly think he does it out of jealousy when he sees minors lifting more then him not really sure why else

Great place to work out. Some of the staff are knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and professional. Others barely greet you at the door - they are obviously busy playing on their phones. To me, that sets a very impersonal vibe that bugs me. It would be nice if the gym utilized the space better so that you could find a place to stretch or do mat work. Otherwise, the place is convenient, cozy, and a great place to get your exercise on.

I have been extremely disappointed with the service at Fitness 19in Elkridge, MD The recumbent bikes have been out of order for over a year, severely limiting the available equipment for members. When I attempted to voice my concerns to the staff, I was met with unprofessionalism and disrespect. Two staff members, who appeared to be immature, not only dismissed my complaints but also went as far as to call the police without attempting to address the issue.

To make matters worse, during the confrontation, one of the staff members made racially insensitive remarks, referring to me as a 'scary black man.' This behavior is completely unacceptable and has left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome at this facility.

It's disheartening to experience such treatment in a place that is supposed to promote health and well-being. I expected better from a fitness center that claims to prioritize the comfort and satisfaction of its members. As a result of this negative encounter, I cannot recommend Fitness 19 to others and will be seeking a more inclusive and respectful fitness environment elsewhere."

Been going here with my husband for a bit now. The price is definitely worth it! When the kids room was open, I would bring my daughter so my husband and I could have some one on one time together. My daughter loved it, and I think she would think of the girls that hung out with her as her friends. A little sad, and still in a little bit of shell shock trying to figure out a new gym solution.

Guess who's back, back again. Me, I'm back for the third time at this gym over the last 8-9 years or so.

Look, there will be broken equipment, it might be broken for a while. Some of the seats of the machines may be a bit torn up, but for the price this gym really offers everything you could want.

Pretty clean, most people working out are respectful, 24/7 access for under $20 (pending their deals) is just a solid value. Also the selection and layout of the gym, based on the space provided is 10/10. You'll be able to find just about every piece of equipment you could need for a full workout. Also, lockers are right by the front so you can drop off and start your workout.

I went over to lifetime a week before, they wanted $179 a month, so yeah I'd hope their equipment is fixed next day for that price. If you want perfectly pristine machines, you'll pay a premium for it at other gyms. This is one of the best value small gyms you'll find in the area. Also I've cancelled twice with no issues, so if you've had issues cancelling memberships in the past with other gyms, (looking at you gold's gym) you won't need to worry about that here.

Just walked in to inquire about a membership but in addition to the screwy membership plan ($9.99/mo + $49/yr) the big red flag was the present staff seemed completely indifferent to new members joining and made absolutely no attempt to sell the gym or membership benefits- no pamphlet, no tour, no effort at all. LADIES BEWARE.

My partner and I have been coming here for two years. Up until this week we've had zero issues. However, I was involved in a situation where another gym member completely disrespected me during a workout and nothing was done about it. This person was making vulgar expressions while I was hip thrusting. I was still holding the weight when I asked him to look away, he then made a scene and continued to watch me. I recognized a trainer who was working out and she told me to go to the front desk. I told the two women what had happened and they said I could wait for the owner to come in. After waiting 15/20 minutes (when they told me the owner would be in) the man simply walked out without a word said to him. One of the front desk receptionist told me that after looking up the gym member JS, he had complaints left on his profile before. I asked for the owner to call back but I have received no calls regarding this situation.

I had a similar experience at an old gym which is why I chose fitness19 and now I will be finding another gym where I feel safe and respected. There are creeps everywhere and I am well aware that the gym has no control how people treat each other. However, when the establishment is unwilling to do something about situations like this, it is incredibly disappointing, disgusting, disrespectful, and a huge problem in regards to safety for other gym goers. Because of the lack of assistance and zero attempt to make me feel safe again, my partner and I will not be renewing our memberships and I advise anyone who is looking for a safe and welcoming gym to look elsewhere due to the lack of leadership and support shown by this establishment. This gym is also SUPER small, has no locker rooms, and is constantly (for well over 6 months now) under renovation.

Fix your broken machines! Or at least check them daily to make sure they're working. The same stuff is always broken or has an out of order sign. Pads all torn up and discolored. But the most disgusting and annoying thing has got to be that the toilet paper dispensers in the women's bathroom have been broken, detached from the wall just sitting on the floor of the bathroom for months. The staff is Hit or Miss depending on which day/time you go. Some are extremely friendly whereas I've actually seen a staff member making fun of somebody working out. I know that's not the type of environment this place wants to be. Please let this review be constructive and helpful to better the gym.

Update:
The owner responded asking me to list the positives about the gym. The staff is super friendly when there's actually someone there. They always have plenty of sanitizing wipes. I saw the new pads on some of the machines. Thank you for that. Thank you for the updates about the renovations in the bathroom as well. The reason I come to this gym is because it's close to my house and it's open late. No one bothers you or creeps on you. It feels like a safe place.

As far as the remark of your staff not making fun of members, I know what I witnessed & I'm not going to ignore that. I've never seen this staff member before this incident and I haven't seen them after.

Just wanted a simple refund for a charge made on my account whilst I’ve been gone for 6 months from this gym and told the worker/manager who freezed my account i didn’t want my account unfrozen till I personally came in. So even to take pre-caution I’ve called multiple times before to make sure that I wasn’t being charged and there was no answer. Then I got charged for it, Now I’ve called 4-6 times over the course of a month and have had 0 luck with this refund “ my managers looking into your paperwork” or “ I’ll have our manager call you” it’s been a month since I originally called. Y'all keep the money it seems like fitness 19 needs it more than me🙏🏽. It’s sad to see a gym you’ve been going to for 2-3 years lack simple ethics and poor customer service.

They are not following Howard County mask mandate. Howard County stated masks are required for indoor activity. When I shared this email with the staff they refused to do anything about people not wearing masks. The email even addressed people on equipment not being excused. Very disappointing.

Would give 0 if possible. One of the managers was extremely incompetent and rude. To give some context, this gym makes you pay first and last month's dues so that you cannot just leave immediately. In my situation, he canceled my membership 2.5 weeks in. He was incompetent enough o think I would pay $40 for this gym for 2.5 weeks but on top of that, he was given a note told to cancel my membership month after he actually did. When this issue was brought up, he refused to admit any fault and wanted me to pay all the fees all over again to reinstate my membership.

At the end of the day, it's highway robbery and it makes sense that this manager works at the cheapest gym in the area.

Conclusion: They cancelled my membership before the agreed upon time and then tried to blame me for that. Once again, they are unprofessional in how they handle customer service. Just take a look at other negative reviews and the replies left by the "owner".

This is the first gym I've actually stuck with. The new equipment and layout is awesome, and the staff is phenomenal. They are all so nice and always happy to help; they make me not dread going to the gym. I typically never leave reviews, however, I'm very disappointed in the communication and lack of customer service when trying to cancel my membership at Fitness 19. The experience was akin to selling a timeshare. With everything going on with COVID, I called and cancelled my membership at the end of February. The person who picked up the phone responded with "ok" especially when we were at the onset of the pandemic. I continued to get charged on my credit card throughout this time and on 08/10 I reached out to "GP" at Fitness 19 Elkridge and he said I would need to come in to cancel in person. He mentioned that the other person who told me "ok" did not understand the policy. So I immediately went to cancel with GK on 08/10 and GK verbally told me in person I would not be charged another membership fee. Well, today I received another membership due on 08/16 because I did not give 30 days notice (even when the customer service rep told me "ok" back in February). I spoke with Leah (manager) and she was not helpful. I realize we are in a pandemic but this is extremely shady in trying to squeeze every penny out in this difficult time.

I appreciate the prompt response to my message. However, this does not resolve the problem and contradicts the statements by Fitness 19 representatives every time I called:

End of February: Called to cancelled and was told it was "ok" and nothing needs to be done.

August 10: After finding out I was charged $79.99 on my credit card for a few months of membership during COVID even after I called at the end of February to cancel, I was told by "GK" that I would need to come to the office to sign paperwork and that I would not be charge anything else after that and will look to giving a 50% refund on the $78.98 (that was billed on 07/20).

August 31: Found out that I was charged another $19.99 since I was promised that my credit card would not be charged again and now to hear from Leah that it takes 30 days to cancel a gym membership. Yes, my bad for not knowing the rules and regulation of the gym membership (yes, it is like selling a timeshare), but the fact that I was told 3 different things by this franchise. I understand and tremendously value small businesses and support them wholeheartedly. However, I was told that there is nothing they can do and that's why I want other people understand what they are getting into if they are ever thinking about joining the membership, read the fine print and tape that to a place that you will remember it!

When I moved to Maryland I was on the hunt for a decent gym and I am thankful I stumbled across fitness 19. This is the best gym I have ever been to. The staff were extremely nice and the gym was super clean. Everything from the equipment along with the vibes at fitness 19 just felt right, I had some of my greatest workouts there. This is a decent place to work out. Machines are fairly worn and a lot of cushions are ripped but still fine to use. Every time I go about 1/3 of the treadmills and ellipticals are out of order. It's kept clean and even when it's crowded there's usually enough space for everyone, which is nice. While membership *is* $19 a month there are also fees. For example you pay for your first and last month at the very beginning, so that if/when you cancel they can still get their money's worth. Also you get charged an additional $40 a few months later so you can lock in the $19 price for the year, in case they decide to raise the price. I'm not sure how likely they are to up the price so I'm not sure if the charge is entirely worth it but it's something to be aware of.

I have nothing bad to say about this place. I checked out a few gyms before becoming a member here. The gym is always clean the staff is always friendly and greet you when you come in. Love this little gym. They have everything you need to get in a good workout and nothing you don't. Don't expect bells and whistles at this gym. But, what they do have is everything to build that beach body. The staff is super nice and they offer free towels and bottle of water on each visit. And, all for the low loslw price of $20 a month😎👍

Nice little no frills gym at a no frills monthly price. No showers, no locker rooms, no Zumba studios, no climbing walls, no juice bars... But LOTS of free weights, weight machines and cardio equipment. For the price, it really can't be beat.

Someone warned me about this gym and I should have listened. "Management" lays low and their responsibilities are left up to the Personal Trainers, who have little to no idea about how to resolve seemingly simple issues such as billing issues. I have been attempting to work with the gym staff for over a month as I have been charged for Personal Training sessions that I have not received because the trainers have been scheduling me more often than the schedule I informed them I need to follow. Even though I have signed a ticket to officially cancel PT, the charges still come out of my bank account and not once has any staff taken the time to look at the bank statements I bring in to offer for proof. The staff's agreed-upon response for such issues is "you can just make up the sessions"- I do not want this or need this but of course, thieves don't like giving up their money. They really are committing fraud as just today, I received an email that I have "enrolled" in their other classes, which I never enrolled in. They give themselves a bad reputation. If you are looking for a decent, professional, and organized place to exercise and focus on your well-being, please look elsewhere. It really shouldn't be this aggravating. I shouldn't taken this advice before.

Starting to slack on cleanliness and equipment maintenance. Men's room hand dryer has been busted for a month, almost never paper towels or anything to dry your hands off after use. Pretty unsanitary. The soap dispensers leak soap out the sides and are also broken.
One of the elliptical units has been broken since the beginning of time while other are wobbly and feel like they could fall apart during use. Several other pieces of equipment are broken (cables) with no foreseeable fix in the future. Used to be a really nice gym but starting to reconsider now that I pay double for less. With as many employees there are around peak hours, you'd think the restroom could at least be kept clean, but it rarely is. Tried addressing to a staff in person and got the "Yeah, I feel you, totally." response which was pretty disrespectful.

Totally love in love to this gym. Their staff are super friendly, the equipments are is very good condition with plenty of weights available. They also provide a playroom for your child 👶🏻 while u do the gym

Trainers and offered classes are great, machines are generally in working condition and the place is clean. Sometimes you need to ask staff to refill towels or wipes.

I love the gym and I also love the childcare! The ladies are always very nice and always remember my sons name. For those of you who say the room was an after thought I think the room size is great! It’s perfectly sized.

Nice basic gym at a great price. I almost always go mid afternoon so it's never crowded. Do not use daycare so can't comment on that. Friendly staff. Wish classes were included in the price, would probably use.

It’s been little over a month since I joined Fitness 19 in Elkridge. Overall, I am happy with the facility and staff friendliness. However, I feel that there is a need to upgrade or repair some cardio equipments particularly treadmills. Also, some weight and strength machines need upgrade or repair as well that includes torn leather seats, missing or torn handle cushions.
