Super responsive staff, I see some of the other Google reviews complaining about this place with "unfriendly staff" or etc, but I'm not sure what kind of experience is happening there. I was having problems with the wi-fi and emailed the manager Steve, and now the wi-fi is working perfectly and he's checked in with me twice to make sure I'm not having any troubles.
Additionally, there's a really large selection of group classes, which adds fun variety into working out. There's a huge amount of aerobics machines upstairs, with a wide variety of choices, I usually come around 5:45 ish, which is pretty peak gym time, and I never find myself waiting for machines. I mean, if you *must* have a single particular stair climber, maybe you had to wait, but there are like 10 different ellipticals, and a bunch of treadmills and seated bikes as well.
I'm honestly really surprised and confused why so many people gave subpar ratings on here on Google reviews, I mean, it's Bethesda, and people tend to be a bit snooty, but if you want to go and work out in a posh place, go to Equinox, it's right around the corner. If you want to go work out and be chill, then this is a great place. Plus, you really can't beat that price.

Solid, basic gym. Nothing too fancy, but it has all the free weights and machines I need. However, if you're looking for a high end, pretty gym, look elsewhere.

For a inexpensive gym it's accessible and usually quiet. The staff isn't very friendly, and the gym is really dirty. Most of their equipment is either broken or not working properly.

Great gym. Tons of well maintained equipment, great staff, and a fantastic monthly rate. Easily the best deal in Bethesda.

Great gym....with all the equipment you would need.....although the men seem to dominate the weight area and give weird looks to any woman trying to get workout done in the area.

Ladies room showers always have mold in the stalls. Very limited pieces of popular equipment. Not customer-centric. Management rude. Pay more and go to a well equipped, customer friendly gym. It is possible that this is the best they can do because the building will be torn down and replaced with new residential and commercial spaces.

I recently stayed at a local hotel and was disappointed with their fitness facility. So, I did a cold walk into the Fitness First gym my first morning in town. I was greeted warmly and
allowed to workout without having anything set up at that point. Later, Jessica helped me set up a temporary membership for the week. She was warm, knowledgeable, and friendly. The facility is top notch including cardio, machine weights, free weights, etc.

Spacious and not too crowded. Up to date machines. Cardio upstairs, weights downstairs. One spin classroom and one other room for classes. I never got to see the promised expansion.
There are a lot of personal trainers around that seem professional (I didn't use one though).

The management of this gym are dishonest. I signed up for a membership and was told I could cancel whenever and without penalty as long as I provided written notice the month before cancelling. However, when I wrote the company to cancel they charged me double the next month, did not cancel the membership, and indicated I had to submit paperwork and would be penalized for quoting the gym early. After searching the Internet and talking to others-this is not a unique experience. Save yourself the trouble and go to one of the many other similarly priced gyms with honest staff.

Best parts of this gym:
1) Great and friendly staff - trainers often offer unsolicited tips to all patrons and are great communicators.
2) Not often crowded - the gym can be busy now and then, but I have never had an issue finding access to the right equipment.
3) They have kettlebells - these are great for a variety of exercises and very versatile.
4) Clean facilities - the equipment and restrooms are always in great condition.
Downsides:
1) A little small - certainly not a megagym if that's what you're after.
2) Bad music - the music shifts between Indie and Pop, but rarely has a good workout intensity to it.
3) Some older equipment that could use replacing - some items like weight benches are old enough that they rock when you use them. It's great for the core, but tough when trying to do max-weight lifting and you need a stable bench.
Overall, a great bang for your buck - I plan to stay with this gym for quite awhile.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Great prices. No complaints on the workout equipment, and they do have some pieces that I have not seen in other gyms. Never uncomfortably busy. I didn't use a personal trainer myself, but the clients and trainers I saw interacting seemed to have well developed and long term relationships, which speaks well of their services. I also had a billing issue that they were very good about handling, which I have seen to sometimes be problematic at other establishments.
Also, my mom has been going here for years and loves their zumba and yoga classes.

plus: cheap, never crowded and ample amount of equipment.
negative: Limited parking.: four spots in the parking lot next to the building!!!!!
This place is expanding for the 2nd time and have not increased their parking with the landlord!!!!
If you add the inconvenience and cost of the parking I think you break even maybe slightly ahead.. Parking is $2.00 an hour in front of gym and $1.25 an hour in a lot about a block away.

It is clean, the machines are in good repair, and the folks at the desk are nice. For $30/ month I think it is a great deal .

It's about $30/month with all the group classes like zumba, yoga being free. And even when the entire city is closed down due to a snow storm or hurricane the gym will very likely be open.
The management staff is the best part about this gym. They will greet you with a big smile and are v friendly. Juan is one of the people who is constantly looking out to help members or guide or advise them. He represents the essence of this gym, being friendly and professional at the same time.

HORRIBLE. Place is old and crowded, and full of groupies. Good luck tryin to find parking! Took me almost an hour to find parking, and you have to pay for it everytime you park!! This jacks your membership rate up at least $15 more a month. HIdden fees too every spring they charge you $40 for facility upgardes, how about you invest in a parking lot! For a few dollars more a month you could join a better gym that has a garage or at least ample parking. Also the equipment is old and always broken! GO ELSEWHERE!

This place is about membership numbers not about the members. Dank and stuffy, the lack of airflow, loud dance classes, steamy showers make this the most uncomfortable facility I've ever worked out in. I travel often for work and end up in a variety of places...this facility is at the bottom of the list. Its like working out in a dirty crowded loud shoe. People called it Fitness last, but I thought I could handle anything for $30....wrong. Too crowded to be efficient, too dirty to be healthy, too stuffy and dank to be comfortable.
