My wife and I have taken several years of dance classes from other studios before moving to the Frederick area. Wanting to continue our dancing journey, Fred Astaire was the closest place. We are so happy with the classes and instructors available at this studio. They even have a greeting dog named Bosco! Definitely recommend trying this place out and giving Bosco some pets.

David Kerich, the owner of Fred Astaire Frederick, has designed a spacious, light-filled, incredibly beautiful studio for instruction and also a myriad of dance events and parties. It is a pleasure just to be in the space. He has also assembled a staff of highly trained dance instructors who are a joy to work with. The teaching is excellent, and the teachers all genuinely care about their students' progress and enjoyment of dance. The atmosphere at the studio reflects the warm, welcoming and supportive team spirit of the staff. I am thrilled to have found this wonderful group of people who make the studio an exciting and relaxing dance home for me.

Decided to go here to get some dance lessons prior to our wedding. I’m not sure what I was expecting, however my expectations were blown out of the water.

Francesca is a FRANtastic teacher. She was so patient with us and able to communicate effectively how to fix our little missteps. Will inf to work with us on what we wanted to add or remove from our first dance.

The front desk staff is also super friendly and they respond quickly to emails.

The owner, whom we had to sit down with to sign up for a dance lessons prior package, was really laid back and funny. No pressure sales tactics.

I would highly recommend anyone looking for one on one lessons to check this place out.

My experience with Fred Astaire has been fantastic! I am learning a wide variety of dances from Waltz to Salsa, so I feel I am ready to dance at a wedding or a club. All of the instructors are very professional and knowledgeable. The owner, and my instructor David, has truly created a very welcoming atmosphere were everyone feels part of the dance community. My fiancé and I are currently taking lessons with Manuel to prepare for our wedding reception, and he has been so fantastic! He’s friendly, knowledgeable, a great teacher, and has built us a really great dance routine to go with the song we selected. We got a much later start than we should have on lessons, but he’s worked with us to make sure that we get our routine down and are comfortable with it before our big day. We’d definitely love to come back for more dance classes here in the future! Everyone else in the studio has been wonderful as well, from the front desk to the manager. It’s a really welcoming environment, whether you’re new to dance or already have lots of experience.

I cannot recommend this dance studio enough! We got married in Hawaii and on extremely short notice. We decided we wanted help with our first dance as husband and wife. I’ve never gravitated towards dance. In fact, I’ve avoided the dance floor my entire life, but at 45 years of age (and 340 pounds) I went on a health journey. I’ve since lost about 120 pounds, and with the added confidence that came with that change in my health, I decided to try out dancing.

I can’t say enough about Fred Astaire Frederick!!💕 The instructors are all extremely talented, patient, approachable, and they make dancing fun at all levels. My wife and I have been going for a little over a year now. We’ve performed in front of the public at the past showcase (hosted at the Baker Park clam shell). We’ve danced in the holiday parade, and we’ve got our eyes set on national competitions in the not too distant future. Dancing is an excellent way to lower blood pressure, increase dopamine levels (happy juice), which lowers stress. It teaches you to laugh at yourself in a good way (a very important skill), and it’s just fun! I encourage anyone to start dancing daily, and if you need some moves, come to Fred Astaire Frederick. They’ve got all the moves you’ll ever need! 🤩

Over the years I have taken dance lessons at about five different studios. Most of them were independent but a couple were large franchise studios like Fred Astaire Frederick. There are benefits to both types but what is really nice about Fred Astaire Frederick is that it has the resources of a franchise but the family feeling of an independent. They will tailor your lessons to what you want to do and achieve and they are not pushy about it. They have grown quite a bit in the 18 months I have been there and are outgrowing their current space. This spring, if all goes well, they will move into a new, much larger space which will be great. I can highly recommend them to anyone starting out all the way to those who are well along their dance journey. They also teach more than just ballroom style dancing. You can also learn hustle, salsa, bachata and others. So whether you want to start lessons, put together a wedding dance routine, or just get some fun exercise and socialize, this is a place you need to check out.

I have been coming to the Frederick Fred Astaire Dance Studio for almost 7 months. I love this place! Is so much fun, the environment is amazing, and everyone is very supportive and encouraging. I started coming to the Friday class and dance party, it is a great way to learn the basic and practice what you learn during the party. I have met so many wonderful people here. They also do a lot of different activities.

All the instructors are great, but shout out to Mr. Peter Spencer-Strong, he is the BEST! He is a great instructor, very knowledgeable, and patient (much needed quality to teach me). Also, he is super fun to dance with.

Taking lessons at this studio has helped me reduce my stress levels. I enjoy the cardio very much and it has helped me fortify my bone density as well. Peter, my instructor, has a lot of patience. Another year dancing at Fred Astaire Frederick (FAF, to me).  I've been with this studio for over 3 years and I've gained a lot of confidence in my own dancing abilities.  Love the student community and instructors with diverse dance background. In addition to their ballroom dance classes, I've added some contemporary dance skills for special events and also adding international latin in my repertoire! Love the dance choices. The instructors are so patient and creative. We came to Fred Astaire for wedding dance lessons to a simple song. Neither one of us had any ballroom dance experience - the groom only moshed during concerts and the bride had mastered the Macarena and Cha Cha slide and danced the Sugar Plum Fairy back in Kindergarten. We showed up and within our first lesson we had a basic fox trot and swing down. While working with David for private lessons and the rest of the crew for some occasional group classes, we were able to nail our first dance that incorporated tons of turns, spins, and even a dip at the end! We had all our guests on their feet at the end! Learning the moves was frustrating at times, but with David’s persistence and convincing us to even practice at home - we came a long way! The staff is super flexible and definitely professionals in the art. The studio is inviting and clean and they have the friendliest patrons! They teach us not only moves for our dance but how to carry those dances for other songs. On our wedding day we were able to dance along at the reception - the groom showed off how to lead and made the night of his sisters, aunts and close family friends by being able to turn them with them having no prior dance experience! We will definitely be back to learn some other dances!

I have danced and studied at half a dozen studios in the metropolitan DC area, but I am now calling Fred Astaire Frederick home because even though it’s a brand new studio with a beautiful dance floor, the teaching staff is very experienced (combining decades of teaching ballroom). Best of all, the tuition here is very reasonable.
