I enrolled at Full Circle Martial Arts Academy about 3 years ago, and my experience has been nothing short of amazing. From the family atmosphere, to the commitment of helping each other become better and challenging each other daily, this Academy has it all.

Under the guidance of Grandmaster Samuel Scott, the council of blackbelts and staff in general are top-notch. Training is usually physical but rewarding. Real life self-defense. I have improved and I am still improving on my martial arts journey since beginning this training. The experience and knowledge of the instructors and the real life application of the techniques that work, surpass rudimentary or basic martial arts instruction. Some adjectives to describe the training are detailed, real-life, skill-based, founded in discipline, focused, and technical. The classes are fine, but It doesn’t make sense as to why a student can’t enter class of their late. The instructors are already paid for the month, so why is it necessary to make a child sit out. Seems petty. Things happen. I’ve seen instructors late pass 10mins, do they not get paid? or have to not instruct? No.

From the first moment that my family started interacting with Full Circle Martial Arts Academy (FCMAA), there was a warmth and welcoming spirit that made us feel welcome, comfortable, and curious about what they were teaching. My kids have been doing their Little Ninjas program for over a year and have enjoyed every moment of it. Sure, they may have days when they don’t want to go because they’re tired, but once they get in to class, they often don’t want to leave. The instructors are fantastic, striving to know each child by name and frequently taking time with each student to speak to them, understand their specific strengths and weaknesses, and encourage them to rise to the challenge. Through FCMAA, my kids have made friends (incredibly important during this pandemic and coming out of isolation), have gained confidence in their ability to meet challenges, and learned skills that will help keep them safe in the world.

Now, as an adult…I miss going to classes there. I had the chance to attend some of the Kung Fu classes and the Combat Kuntao classes, and my wife attended one of the women’s self-defense classes. Speaking for her, she enjoyed it. Time to go back has been the biggest obstacle for both of us to overcome. But back to me. I thoroughly enjoyed the classes I was able to attend, but scheduling has been a factor. I admit, I’m getting a little older and more fragile, so I would leave Kung Fu for the younger, more lithe and agile youth, but Combat Kuntao was right up my alley. It provided a physical challenge (yeah, you’re gonna sweat), pared down version of martial arts that cut right to the chase. And the instructors there often taught with a great sense of humor while also taking time to make sure that each person understood the purpose and application of the moves. Suffice it to say that I am ALL IN in my support of the Full Circle Martial Arts Academy and I encourage anyone looking to learn martial arts to give the school a chance.

Having been involved with martial arts prior to being introduced with Full Circle, I had a subconscious expectation all martial arts training being somewhat the same. Excellent place! My son took Kung Fu training and he has become a confident outgoing young man from just the short time (4 months) he has been enrolled. I participated in the Tai Chi retreat and I am a believer in Full Circle's methods. There were participants of all ages and skill levels; I walked away, as a first timer, equipped with the know-how for calming myself when I feel moments of stress arising in my day to day grind.

I also participated in their breathing for life program and learned methods to destress and ground myself during the pandemic.
