Our oldest daughter has been a member at Goldfish since she was 6m old in 2022. It’s a wonderful experience for our whole family. The instructors are caring and kind. Our girls are 3 and 18m and they’re always looking for ways to keep them engaged and learning. Our oldest started independent classes in September and we were nervous about her going in the water alone but Mr. Diego & Ms. Akeila have always made sure she feels safe in the water. We joined Goldfish right before our daughter turned 1, with the hope that she would learn to swim and not be afraid of the water. The infant class at Goldfish is perfect for infants and parents to learn the basics, and before long, our daughter was gleefully anticipating putting her head under water and doing crab walks.

Then, winter rolled in and we decided to pause. She had learned the basics, we realized, and maybe we were fine. In the spring, a new aquatic center opened near us. It was closer, so we thought we’d give it a try. The problem? It wasn’t Goldfish. It didn’t feel personal, and our daughter disliked it as much as we did. At that point, we knew we had to return to Goldfish.

Since returning, our daughter had thrived! Her teachers emulate her passion for swimming, and push her to reach the next level. As a parent, it’s a joy to see her evolve week after week. Our daughter went from being unable to swim and afraid of going underwater, to being able to swim fully submerged unassisted! She is so passionate about swimming at Goldfish, and it is a highlight of not just her week, but also my week as a parent.

Goldfish has been an incredible experience for both of my children. My oldest has been part of the program since Mini 2 and is now graduating to Glider 1. He has overcome his fear of the water and now eagerly jumps right in. My youngest, who once cried during every bath, especially when it came to having his hair washed, now excitedly jumps into the water and eagerly volunteers to be the teacher’s example student each week. Both of them have developed a deep love for swimming and a strong bond with their instructors. We are truly grateful for Goldfish and all they’ve done for our family!

I’ve been way pleased with both of my son’s progress at Goldfish. My younger son had a regression and the instructors (Bailey, Nicole, Alejandro, and Natalie) have all been so helpful and amazing establishing trust with him that he’s right back into the swim of things. Our 5 yo is doing really well and his instructor Max is really phenomenal with him! Goldfish has been amazing and the front office is always helpful. Emily also does a terrific job as the supervisor, very attentive and chimes in when additional support with progress is needed. I removed one star for the annoyance that there are not enough changing huts to accommodate everyone so we are often left with a dripping wet kid waiting for a hut after class. I can't say enough about the incredible experience my son has had at Goldfish Swimming. When he first joined at the tender age of four, he was absolutely terrified of water. Even simple tasks like washing his face were a nightmare. But thanks to the patient and supportive team at Goldfish, he has blossomed into a confident and skilled swimmer.

But I don't see the fairness in putting one teacher for four kids and you pay $39 a lesson. This review in no way reflects the swim instructors. The instructors are phenomenal! The swim school has recently undergone management changes. Last week (Sunday morning) we went into the facility at 12:17 p.m. along with other paying clients. We were very quickly approached by Connor (the new assistant manager) in a very rude and unprofessional way. He immediately ran (and I mean ran) to the door and said you can’t come in here because we don’t open until 12:20. First of all, if you want to be so strict on times, you should make swim lessons take the full 30 minutes that they should be and that we pay for. We have two daughters enrolled and one has lessons from 12:30 -1 and the other one has them from 1-1:30. They always dismiss early but I took note and they dismissed the 12:30 lesson and 12:57. I’ve never brought it up but if you want to be so picky and stringent about times, it’s a two way street. I’ve seen other complaints about lessons not being a full thirty minutes. Rules are rules but the way you approach people is huge. Ourselves and two other families were discussing how completely unprofessional Conner was in handling the situation. I emailed and asked for Nicole (the manager) to call and got no response. I will say that I complained about them closing so much and shortchanging us lessons. They wanted to offer make up tokens. That was taken care of by Nicole by crediting us for classes which was appreciated. If management (Connor) continues to treat clients the way he treated us and the other family members the amazing reputation that the school has will quickly go down hill. Rules are rules but my personal opinion is that when it’s freezing and you have kids outside you let them in. It caused absolutely no disruption and parking is a nightmare at the facility.

Nicole was extremely rude and unprofessional when I spoke with her politely while she was doing nothing.She interrupted me immediately within 10 seconds and telling me that I have to leave my information at the desk. She pretends that she is so busy while there were enough staff for each swimming group of students and she is just hanging around so her excuse looks reasonable. Her aggressive body language was not appreciated no matter what. Do customers paying $300 per month asking for neglect and disrespect here? No thank you!

Our kids have been attending goldfish since they were four months old. We started in Ellicott City as the Gaithersburg location wasn't open. We switched to Gaithersburg when it opened since it's closer to us.
Our now five year old can swim like a champ and our daughter that just three years old is also swimming on her own. The staff is phenomenal and the instructors are wonderful with the kids. It's always very clean as well!
As a paramedic it was very important to me that our kids could swim. Goldfish helped us accomplish this and made our kids favorite thing swimming.

My children have been in this school for a year and the reason I am giving this rating is not because of the classes or the teachers, they are excellent! Especially profesor Ángel C.!! THE REASON is because of what the assistant general manager Mrs. Nina Herndon told me. She said that I should not use 2 CHANGING ROOMS. I explained to her that I have a 2 children in classes. A boy of 3 and a half year and a girls who is about to turn 11. And for my daughter’s privacy, she uses one changing room and I use another one with my little boy. I was reading the family policies and the student policies that I signed when I registered the children and I did not find anything about the changing room rules!!! The only thing that I found in facilities- features say: kid-friendly amenities like our hair drying station, swimsuit dryers & Private Changing Rooms. But with that comment from Mrs. Nina Herndon it not kid-friendly at all.!!

My son is in Mr. Zachary's class. We had been placed in a different class originally, and had him as a substitute teacher, and fell in love/moved to his class permanently. It doesn't work with our nap time but we don't care, he's that great!

He is beyond amazing (his high five/fall backwards into the water, is just one of the reasons he's loved so much). My son came into these classes scared of the water. Zachary was patient and had an approach that was tailored just for him. While other kids seemed fine to go under the water, Zachary knew that mine wasn't and let him find his own love for the water, which he eventually did/is still doing. I know when he's jumping in the water on his own one day it'll be thanks to Zachary.

I'd definitely suggest goldfish. I like that you accompany your child (mine is 2.5 years old). They teach you safety and there is time for fun too (collecting balls, slides and more). It is definitely the highlight of our week!

Sidenote: we prefer weekdays, because weekends are very busy. I've seen its more likely for stalls to be saved for kids when they aren't even in there.

My daughter, Amelia, has been attending Goldfish Swim Lessons since she was 7 months old, in 2021. We started during the height of covid, and their precautions were amazing and helped us feel safe. Despite that, my daughter, husband and I have always felt welcomed. The staff is always there to help address any concerns we may have, as well as give us information regarding my daughters progress. We started with Miss. Whitney, switched classes to Miss. Nicole, as the weekends were getting busy, and have just switched to Mr. Zachary. The switch is huge for us, as they recognized my daughter needed to be pushed more and in a class with children closer to her age. My daughter has flourished in their program, and has such confidence and love for the water. She has learned basic safety such as waiting for mom/dad before jumping into the water, how to take big breaths and to spit out the water after dips. If you've heard of dry drowning, this is a must! She is confident in jumping in the pool and knowing to grab for a person or find the wall. She has made great strives towards floating, and is gaining more confidence. When we went on vacation last year, after a year of classes, we noticed her ease and confidence in different swimming pool environments. I will always recommend this location. The main teachers who my daughter has been with have been marvelous, and my daughter loves all of them. The instructors we have been with for make-up classes all take the time to hear about current progress so she doesn't stay stuck in the same cycle. They are the most friendly and I am so glad we chose this location to do lessons for my daughter, Amelia. Thank you!!

I cannot say enough positive things about the Goldfish Gaithersburg location!

My now 19-month-old son started in the Mini classes about 5 months ago and he loves it! It's our special mommy and me time. He gets the biggest grin on his face when he realizes where we're going, he cannot wait to get into the pool for his lesson, and he loves every second of "playing" in the water. His teacher, Mr. Zachary, is amazing at connecting with kids (and providing good developmental activities like matching toys with corresponding colors!). My son is really showing swimming skills--trying to move his arms, kick his legs, and even safely holding his breath to go under water. It's incredible watching what he has learned.

My 3.5-year-old daughter just started Golden Learner lessons. These are for children with special needs who need private attention. I've been so impressed with how much they have taught her in a short time. And best of all--she loves the pool and going in the water. She smiles the whole lesson and is in the best mood afterwards.

I highly recommend the Goldfish Gaithersburg location--the team is fantastic, the customer service is great, and the whole experience is wonderful!

My 2 boys love it here! The staff is always friendly and helpful. They always go the extra mile to make sure all your questions are answered even if they don't know the answer themselves. The swim instructors are always smiling and love what they do. The facility is very clean and maintained well. The entire facility is covered in bright tropical colors and has a huge ocean mural on the wall and fish on the ceiling making for the perfect focal points for back floats. We have been enrolled for over a year and it's still my boys favorite place to be!

Both my kids (ages 2 and 4) attend Goldfish and we’ve had a really positive experience. My daughter absolutely loves Mr. Zach who is kind, patient and always cheerful. My 15 months son is absolutely a huge fan of this swimming school. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and are good listeners considering what the customer is saying or asking. They are attentive to the children with individual needs. And of course they are good at teaching through repetition. The teacher keeps an eye on progress and when they think the child is ready they have them watched/tested to see if they can move up to the next class. It gives motivation to try their best. I also like how easy it is to make up classes missed and the flexibility to change classes if our schedule needs it. The facilities are also handy with doors that lock to change and four bathrooms. We can also get excess water out of bathing suites with the spinner. Afterward we get to blowdry their hair. The colder months makes this especially important and appreciated. I highly recommend Goldfish at Kentlands.

We were approached by the manager on our first day there if our animal is a registered service dog, to which we replied yes. After that day I brought my children to class alone and still brought my service dog with me, NEVER ONCE did the manager come and speak to me.  It is not my responsibility to approach the manager to explain it to him.  That responsibility falls on the manager of your establishment.

I also have a federally approved service dog registration under my name with the dog I brought in.

I witnessed him get into a loud verbal altercation with a father who has a son with developmental disabilities and making him leave.  Showing this behavior is not isolated to just us.

It appears tabs and notes have been kept about my activities within your facility. With such good reporting and communication by your staff members, it is unbelievable that nobody took the initiative to question me during any one of the instances described by your manager.

All of this could have been avoided if he simply came and talked to me and asked me all the questions on the first day.

There are holes and inconsistent remarks being made from your organization about what really happened.

Classes are not even 30 minutes as advertised since the kids are out of the pool after 25 minutes.

Very good swim school. It does takes time and commitment, our daughter started at 5 years old and has come a long way to Gliders 3 at just 6 years old. We are very happy with the curriculum they go through and I like how the shift supervisors monitor the students stars and progress. The manger Zach (and the rest of the staff) are outstanding and truly care about the students progress. It’s a great facility, very clean and friendly. I think the staff and facility makes this place stand out than the other swim schools around the area. The mobile app is also nice as you can track the progress and request make ups. My daughter is 9 months old now, and I have been going here since she was old enough (4 months) If you are on the fence, JOIN NOW. I drive all the way from hagerstown for this program, and she is pretty much swimming now. She pulls her arms through the water while kicking her feet. She can also stay under water 3-5 seconds as she breaths in before going under. I knew before she was born that I wanted her to learn water safety as early as possible as well as a super valuable life skill. She has SO much fun in the water and she will never have any fear of it either since she's been exposed to it since 4 months. Who knows, maybe she will be an athletic swimmer and get a free ride to college one day. 😉 Its such a great investment in her future and a fun time for a small monthly fee. The price is EXTREMELY reasonable for the amount of fun we have. The teachers are amazing too. I have had multiple teachers and Mr. Zachary has been our favorite. He's great with the babies and very charismatic. My daughter loves him and you can tell a difference in her with the other teachers. I've tried other programs in winchester and Frederick, but goldfish has the cleanest facility (by far) and best staff

My daughter 5 yr and myself came into the 801 Center Point Way, Gaithersburg, MD 20878 location on 7/16/22 around 1pm today to inquire about swim lessons. This was my first time coming to this place and I will tell you I was so disappointed with the customer service I received today. I walked in with my daughter up to the front desk and asked the 4 young ladies sitting down at the desk I was inquiring info about the swim programs they offered. The first girl that spoke to me said ok will give you a tour and tell you a little more about the program, Then she passed me off to the next young lady who was wearing a mask. this particular woman said "well I don't need to give her a tour because she is just inquiring info" with an attitude. She seem to be extremely annoyed to have to get up just to give me a tour. Which I thought was strange because if an associate can't even get up to give me a tour why would I feel comfortable with allowing my 5 yr old to come to a place where the staff is to lazy, which gives me the idea your to lazy to save my child life in the event of an emergency. So I then told the young lady don't worry about the tour I'll leave. she was visibly annoyed with a simple task. The other 3 ladies said tried to say she was in training to make me feel better but at that point I didn't care if she was in training or not. If that's the type person this company feel it acceptable to hire, by making potential customers feel unwelcome and not a safe environment to allow my child to be. I walked out so disappointed and my child cried because she didn't understand what was going on. The point of this review is to have your company aware of my experience I had at this location and with this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Poor customer service, lack of available times, state they will be in contact and do not communicate. Have you pay a monthly fee, but do not give you valid times to actually attend classes. Instructors were friendly but the administration is disorganized and not helpful. Their recommendation is to just get makeup credits weekly as opposed to having a proper schedule. Additionally the fix as they allude to below it to wait a month for classes that we previously registered for, which isn't an option.

Our experience at Goldfish Swim School- Gaithersburg has been nothing but the BEST! We have tried different swim schools before but it doesn't compare to the atmosphere they provide. Our son has been enrolled since June 2021 & has build so much confidence in the water. All this wouldn’t be possible without the amazing swim teachers he’s had on this journey. Words can’t express how much I love the staff and experience at Goldfish! My sister in law recommended bringing my son to swim and said the Gaithersburg location is the best. Honestly one of the best decisions I’ve made! My son started swim class last year at 15 months. He has so much fun swimming in class and I can tell he is learning important water safety too! He feels so comfortable with Mr. Zachery, which says a lot since he can be shy. The staff are so friendly and always greet him by name every time. The environment is also super clean! Since I’m a nurse, I was worried about bring him because of covid. But because of the protocols they have in place, I felt safe bringing him.
