Please turn off all those fans in the winter before someone catches pneumonia. Seriously.
Also—are they regularly cleaned? For a facility dedicated to health, it feels like the focus on profitability is starting to overshadow member well-being. Dirty fans, a cold atmosphere in freezing weather, and a questionable HVAC system all contribute to whether members stay healthy enough to keep coming back.
Please consider updating or thoroughly cleaning the HVAC system and building maintenance into the operating costs. It matters.
Other than the risk of frostbite (which I say only slightly joking), this gym has many great qualities and addressing this issue would greatly increase member satisfaction and safety.

So, I hit up the Bowie Gold’s Gym this morning, and man, let me tell you, I was absolutely not impressed. This place is just on a whole other level of bad. It’s like they took the concept of a gym and then arranged it in the worst way possible. The machines are crammed in like sardines, the place feels tiny, and honestly, it just feels like a trashy knock-off of what a good gym should be. No wonder nobody shows up.
Honestly, I don’t know who’s running the show at this location, but they need to be replaced like yesterday. It’s like the gym is just sliding downhill into some kind of ghetto Planet Fitness wannabe. If you want a real example of how a gym should be run, go check out Crofton’s Gold’s Gym. That place is top-notch, and this Bowie spot is just… well, it’s a joke in comparison
So yeah, like I said, this place desperately needs a management overhaul. Please, get a new crew in here who actually knows how to run a gym, because right now it’s just a hot mess. If they can get someone like the folks running Crofton’s location, maybe Bowie Gold’s Gym could actually step up their game. But until then, it’s a hard pass from me.

While the gym is located in an accessible location, the gym’s leadership and management is sub par. The fact that the gym is replete with signs about gym etiquette, racking weights, No guns or alcohol is a poor reflection on holding wayward members accountable. On several occasions, members would hoard two to three sets of dumbbells as if they are in their personal gym. Stronger leadership and effective monitoring of members’s behavior for effective accountability needs to be implemented if they hope to stay in business.

Terrible customer service. I canceled my membership months ago, yet the business office continued to charge me after the fact. Despite sending multiple emails notifying them that I had moved and was no longer a member, they ignored my requests. Instead of correcting their mistake, they allowed the bogus charges to pile up and eventually sent them to collections.
This is not how you treat a long-standing customer. It’s dishonest, negligent, and completely unacceptable. I am deeply disappointed in the way this business operates and would strongly caution anyone considering giving them your money.

Definitely I recommend for parents have kids the kids club is really good Monica and rest staff they are very nice They helped me a lot with my son to have confidence in the caregivers because in the other place he came out traumatized, he cried all the time, it was his first time that someone took care of him for about two hours, I would never go back to that place, they are so annoying, they yell at the children and don't let them play with their toys, I saw it, I don't recommend is this place

I registered with goldsgym bowie unable to attend because of work schedule and they keep debiting from my bank even after completing, have call for cancelation and even walk in for cancelations but the staff feeling less concerned about things. I have to say, after visiting the gym once, I was so turned off by the staff, I never returned. They're customer service is only worthy until you sign the contract/agreement. It's my fault for not following up a third time with management/staff to cancel my contract. I just got off the phone and was told by management that, I had to come in and sign an agreement to cancel and it would take thirty days or more for the cancellation to take affect. However, you would think they would have reach out to me after noticing I have not been back since enrolling. They are immensely competent when it comes to contracts; however they are lacking in most areas for a business, filled with minority staff and members. Also, they will go up on your membership fee without notifying you. If I am not mistaken that is illegal in the state of Maryland.

this place is a whole scam, I went in twice to cancel my membership, no manager was EVER available at the time I was there. I ended up mailing a letter to cancel and they're STILL trying to hold me accountable. I clearly told (3) different people I needed to cancel because I was moving out of the country. Now they have people harassing me for $31.00 this is ridiculous. I do NOT recommend this place. The manager is HORRIBLE and RUDE!!!

Very disappointed. A day pass was a whopping $25 for access to a very chaotic gym experience. While very well equipped, weights were never racked or racked incorrectly. The first step to do any exercise was to first walk around the gym finding the appropriate weight. The place was just generally in disarray. For $10? Fine. For $25? I absolutely would not train here again.

Good workout today and the music was great! Sometimes I hear what I call "noise", with the rappers of today talking nonsense & misogynistic lyrics (boy I sound old! 🤣), but today we had some DC gogo, a little parliament, and music that has real instruments played by musicians! Luv that - makes the workout go by quickly & almost effortlessly. The young brother at the desk was very helpful when I told him there was a car outside (Gabe him the plate) where the Allen was going off every few minutes - possibly draining the car battery. This places always has a good vibe, people are friendly, staff is helpful. I could work out at home but I like it here!

Went there for years. Same time, same days, yet trainers never even nodded their head as a hello. No rapport with anyone. Just a dead feeling in the place. Babysitters were extremely rude. Machines were broken. I left. A year or two later my husband joined and had the same darn experience. Still a ton of broken machines. Crowded and people are aloof. Dead fluorescent tube bulbs leaning against the walls and out garbage cans. Major health risk and environmental violation to dispose of that way. He is done with the place, too.

If it wasn’t for it being close to my house, I wouldn’t come. Lockers are being broken into. I was a victim. Never heard anything from the manager nor owner. I love Fairwood Gold’s. There’s definitely a sense of community in the mornings. Familiar friendly faces at the front desk (Daniel) and throughout the gym. My complaint is the lack of equipment maintenance. It’s time for the ellipticals to be replaced. They are beyond repair at this point (rusted, knocking and broken bottle holders and heart sensors). I know it doesn’t bring in as much money as Crofton or Ritchie but ownership needs to treat Fairwood better.

If you are interested in completing a full body work out with a great group of people and a dedicated instructor, check out Body Pump(Bowie Golds Gym) with Nadia! Nadia is hands down the most energetic, motivating and hard working instructor that Gold’s has imo. Not only does she teach Body pump Saturday’s(9:30am) and Sunday’s(10am), she also teaches GRIT(Sunday’s 9:25am) and Body Attack(Mondays 7:10pm). If you have free time to check any of these classes out, you won’t be disappointed. All ages are welcome!

However, I do wish the wooden lockers in the men’s locker room would be replaced with more secure lockers to minimize theft. To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my concern regarding an experience I had at your gym on July 24, 2024. I visited your Bowie location with a free guest pass, only to be denied entry by the manager on duty, Erica (she refused to provide her last name).
Erica informed me that I could not use the guest pass because I had visited the gym before. However, the terms and conditions of the pass, as listed online, do not mention such a policy. I politely pointed this out to her, but she remained adamant and dismissive.
I was a member of this gym years ago, but I moved away from Maryland and recently returned. Although I downloaded the free pass last week, I had not previously used it. Despite this, Erica was extremely rude and condescending, which made me feel disrespected and unwelcome. I arrived at 7 AM intending to work out and then discuss membership options.
After our conversation, I informed Erica that I needed to use the restroom. To my dismay, she sent an employee to prevent me from doing so. This level of customer service is shocking and unacceptable. Over the years, I have been a loyal patron of this gym and have always appreciated the welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, I have heard similar complaints about Erica from other members, indicating a pattern of behavior that detracts from the positive environment your gym strives to create.
I strongly recommend that Erica receive proper customer service training to prevent future incidents. Your members deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy, regardless of their membership status.
I felt discriminated against because I had a guest pass, which is unfair and against the spirit of inclusivity and support that a gym should offer. The gym should be a place for stress relief and personal growth, not a source of additional stress and disrespect.
I hope this complaint will lead to improvements in how customers are treated at your Bowie location. No one should have to experience such negative treatment when they are simply trying to enjoy a workout.

Updates are improving the gym. ladies showers and bathrooms need to be cleaner, and have paper towels to clean the water that is all over the sinks and running onto the floors. Gym etiquette has gotten really bad. Some people clearly have no regard for other members. The gym has great equipment, but many of the clientele and staff leave a lot to be desired. The staff is lazy and dismissive. Buying a product (protein shake, etc.) means feeling like a bother. A thank you is never uttered in return for making a purchase; sometimes, you feel like you must scream to get their attention. I just quit buying.
The weights are mostly strewn about or left on the equipment. I have never seen the staff bother to enforce the 'rerack your weights' rule. The locker rooms are a mix of destruction and dysfunction. Lockers are broken in acts of mindless vandalism. I have witnessed clientele using the sink and then walking away, leaving the sink running. Who does such a thing? It would help to have the staff walk through the facility periodically to look at things. This action would require them to stop mindlessly staring into their cellphones. I suggest hiring some adults familiar with the business and customer service. I don't want to use the equipment after someone has their shorts pulled down to where their underwear touches the padding, nor do they have the common courtesy to wipe down the equipment. Lastly, the gym employs cleaners who work hard and do their best to keep the facility clean, which is impossible when they are up against an onslaught of slobs, vandals, and uncaring staff.

I signed up for Gold’s in Bowie, specifically to use the Sauna. On my last visit, there were 2 roaches in the sauna. Now, I’m in the sauna worried if roaches could be crawling into my bag in the locker room.
It’s 7:30, I go to cancel my membership, the Assistant Manager, Langston, say’s he is unable to process a cancellation after 7pm and the gym contract states, you have to come in between 9am-6pm (working hours mind you) to cancel your membership.
All of the gym equipment is packed together in a small space and it smells like a football locker room.
The establishment is unprofessional and unclean. I also have a membership at Planet Fitness, which provides a greater quality of service and experience.

I’ve been in multiple gyms and I’m very disappointed with the service this one gives, Back in February this year I called because I was going to be out of the country and I had to cancel my membership, Since the situation was very unique, they said that they will put the cancellation notice on, they Stop charging me on my account I assumed that the account was canceled, It turns out that they never canceled it They just stopped charging me, today I received the first and only call stating it was days away from being put into a collection without me even knowing, They’re saying that I owe $190 & They don’t know why they stopped charging me, They don’t know who Cancel my membership and they don’t want to take responsibility for their actions, They say they feel sorry for me, but they can’t do nothing & now if I don’t pay, they’ll put me in collection, I asked why !

I recently moved to Bowie MD October 2023 from Denver Co. I love to workout & I was in need of a local gym. I opened a membership at Golds Gym off Fairwood ran by general manager Erica Carpenter. I relocated 45 minutes away from this location, so I physically went in to cancel my membership, so I could join planet fitness. I was assured by an associate Mr Langston that I was taken care of. Just recently another pymnt was drafted out of my account. I contacted the location Mr Langston wasn’t there, so I emailed him & he didn’t reply. For two days nobody made an effort to help. I was giving nothing, but the run around. Finally I emailed the GM Erica Carpenter. Her & I continuously went back & forth. NO SOLUTION!!! This company will not refund my monies & i’m being forced to write this awful review. I am a small business owner. Customer Service & hospitality is my lively hood. I honestly can’t believe this company is treating me this way. I’m posting, so people will NOT DEAL WITH THIS LOCATION. I can’t speak on other locations, but please NOT THIS ONE!! The locker rooms and toilet area was nasty smelly with poop sprayed on the wall in one of the stalls. The attendant mops over the floor without sweeping and the mop it self looks dirty

The WiFi in this gym is terrible. I can’t even listen to the music I have saved on my phone or watch videos to ensure I’m doing my workouts correctly. Something needs to be done about the service in the gym. I don’t have these problems in any other Gold’s Gym.

Nadia is the best instructor for Les Mills classes. I've had dozens of Body Pump and Grit classes by a lot of instructors and had some very good ones at the Bowie Golds Gym location. Nadia took 120 pounds off me and I'm closing the gap on my goals with her classes. She brings the energy.

The social and atmospheric was great. Running into life health situations and getting my account canceled it was very difficult. Makes me think twice about signing up or telling anyone sign up. I had a stroke unable to walk barely talking I just wanted to cancel my account. I was not working any longer yet I was told I had to come in physically with a letter to have my account canceled. I had to continue paying when I was not physically able to drive, type, feed myself and it was a nightmare I should not have to go through such drastic measures just to cancel an account.

Definitely a great atmosphere to workout 🏋️♀️ and converse with like minded individuals. The only suggestions would be to install a stronger wi-fi system. Also, the same abdominal machines continue to break all the time, I hope a better solution is being explored.

Although it is a smaller location, the gym etiquette of the members is A+ in my experience coming here. Team members are available to assist when needed and most equipment is functional and moderately used.

I go between 1and 3 pm two and three times a week at the Fairwood Golds I am older than most people who regularly go to the gym. During time I attend, it's always a great experience. The staff is polite, informative and helpful. The customers are also congenial and helpful. Also, polite. Great equipment.

I’ve been going to this facility for 20 years, and some equipment has not been updated for 20 years. Clean facility, minimal updated equipment-minimal! I use this facility because it’s convenient and I have to, not because it’s inviting. This gym is far far from inviting. Ohhh, and the tvs play the same duplicated sports channels and old 90s tv shows New management, updated equipment. Surveys are good, action would be far better!
