Decent facility and staff but aloof management. We do Zumba there, and basically one instructor carries there entire team. Without her, this gym will lose all their Zumba-loving members.

Been going here since Airpark closed down
-Increased pricing TWICE NOW without saying anything ( Original 35 to 45 a month)
-Charged me 80 dollars to swap a debit card because it expired in person without a real reason
-No tissues/towel dispensers anywhere
-No high weight kettlebells (Airpark had them just bring them here)
-Not enough Benches (plentiful of squat racks though)
-Rules not enforced by any means
-People having selfie sessions in the bathroom/studio room while people are in them
- 95% of the people that come here have zero gym etiquette and are generally rude/self-entitled (the other 5% I have met are good and nice people along with some of the gym staff)
Gym sucks, but it's mostly the people that come here ruin it the most along with gym chains famously robbing people

Great layout. Clean. Spacious. Friendly environment. I just tried this location after being a regular at the CP location. This location did not disappoint. Friendly staff. One of the trainers introduced herself, offered to show me around, and made me feel comfortable.
10/10 would highly recommend. If people have a problem with this gym, maybe they want more that what a gym is capable of offering. You still have to do the hard work and not just make excuses.

It is impossible to cancel, I went to the gym they day you can not process it personally, they gave me a link, which did not work cause it kept saying “under construction” so I called and they said it will take 30 days to cancel, and still I got charged annual fee that was within few days after I called and monthly fee, even tho I tried for couple of months to cancel!

The workers here don't care and do a terrible job (especially the afternoon and evening shift). Morning staff is slightly better.
They never refill wipes. As of 5/1/25 there is none and it's been 2 days and going. Imagine the amount of filth on the equipment now.
One of the mens urinal has been in maintenance for 4-5 months now. I dont know how stuff is broken for a gym that is one year old.
All members have to pay $80 fee every year and this is the service we get? Get charged and nothing is provided.
The A/C is held on 75° is absurd when the weather outside is in the 80s and you're working out too so you can easily overheat.
One month the speakers stopped working too and they used a big JBl to compensate.
All the sink spout in the mens bathroom spray everywhere. They dont work correctly spraying you if you pull it up to where it should be.
***UPDATE:***
Korean lady who works here that likes to slam weights also came over to me on my next lift to accuse me and my friend of taking 25lb plates from her rack. We did not simple as that. For someone who works here to come up to a patron that aggressive and feel so confident that they did is ridiculous. Who the heck is in charge of hiring here? They hire lazy people and people like her to represent Gold's. What a shame.
Ive been very patient with all these issues. But enough is enough

The Germantown, Maryland Dirty, Unclean, and Filthy Gym: I am an active member of the Gold’s Gym located in Germantown, Maryland. Point blank, this gym has been dirty, filthy and unclean for several months now. I arrive at 5AM, Monday-Friday.
1. The women’s bathroom/locker room is dirty, filthy, and unclean upon entering and turning on the motion lights. The (3) sinks are always dirty and I have seen dead bugs around the sink. Shower stalls are dirty, filthy, and poor drainage. The entire bathroom/locker room floors are covered with visible grime, stains, dirt, trash, and have not been mopped for weeks. Slippery floors due to grease, spills, or improper cleaning can cause falls and injuries. The toilets stalls area is filthy, not flush properly, some toilets were out of orderly for weeks, and toilet paper left on the floor. This bathroom/locker room is a breeding grounds for bacteria due to the moist environment and the high volume of women using the bathroom/locker room. The lockers has a significant accumulation of filth ranging from dusting of debris, spills of substances, grease, and buildup dirt inside. Also, the locks on the lockers are broken and do not secure personal items properly. Again, the women’s bathroom/locker room is filthy.
2. Water Fountain- you may see floating particles, poor cleaning, and many times out of order. In essence, filling up my water bottle from a dirty drinking water fountain is unhealthy and unacceptable.
3. Gym Main Common Areas are dirty including filthy floors, and artificial grass/turf is not being properly cleaned. There are visible stains of dirt, and discoloration. The entire green turf is unkept, the area is messy, and starting to have an unpleasant odor due to poor and improper maintenance. The floors around the entire gym is often unclean, soiled, or covered in substances that make it noticeably unclean including dust, mud, grime, and other debris.
4. Gym equipment- The gym equipment is a breeding place for harmful germs. The gym equipment is covered in dust, and dirt in the nook and crannies. The treadmills, ellipticals and all the stationary bikes are frequently cited with dirt, dust, and spills in the cup holders.
5. The sauna is usually out of order and doesn’t get hot enough.
These unkept and uncleaned gym equipment can contribute to the spread of infections, respiratory illnesses, and other diseases. Gyms can be a hub for the spread of colds, flu, and other infections if not properly cleaned. As nice and open as this gym may appear, it dirty and creates a negative atmosphere. Members are constantly cleaning up the gym early in the morning because the evening staff do not clean up before leaving their shift. I never seen a cleaning crew in this gym at all in 7 months since joining the Germantown location. All these unsanitary conditions are getting worse by the minute. The Germantown location is going down fast. Again, this entire gym is not properly cleaned, maintained, or disinfected to minimize the spread of germs and bacteria. There is no regular cleaning staff to clean the equipment and areas. If so, they are invisible and doing a bad job.
Staff- morning staff Noah and Soon are very friendly. Whoever this new manager is obviously doesn’t care about the conditions of the gym. There is no way he cannot see how dirty this gym is and how importantly for members to thrive in a clean environment.

I'm giving 2 stars for the gym itself, which is decent and has done the job for my sons. The negative review is about the billing. I canceled the membership for my son in early June and was then charged the annual fee in late June... for a year that was already cancelled. I spoke to the manager and he said I could send an email to the regional member services to see if they might have mercy on me. Ok, thanks for the help!

Plenty of parking. Never appears to be busy, even during peak hours (4:30pm to 8:30pm). Granted, I've never been here in the mornings. Plenty of machines. Gold's continue to raise prices every year without any major improvements or additions to the gym.
I completely agree with the other reviewers about one particular member at this facility. He's about a 50-year-old, white male, always wearing a camouflage tank top. If you're a member here, then you know exactly who I'm referring to. He's at the gym everyday (7 days a week, 5-6 hours each day). He comes in around 5pm M-F and 2pm on the weekends. And he doesn't leave until the gym closes. He wears black sunglasses and walks around with a carry-on luggage/suitcase. He stares at all the members. Just watch him closely when his sunglasses are off. He's very creepy. He doesn't listen to any music or watch any tv because I've never seen him with earbuds on. He just walks and walks and walks around the gym staring at other members with his carry-on luggage/suitcase while eating a banana. He can easily walk around for 6 hours a day at a mall or at a nearby Target or Walmart. He'll get escorted out by security after complaints from customers. But he gets a pass because Gold's Gym Metro values his $32/mo so much!!!
When he's not walking in circles for hours, there are 3 machines that he only uses (a seated chest press machine across from the treadmills, a sit-up crunch machine in the corner next to the Gold's Gym studio, and a sit up bench in the free-weight sections). He'll intentionally leave his silver stainless steel water bottle or his carry-on luggage/suitcase at one of the machines so no other member can use it, essentially 'reserving' the machine for him. That's such a D-Bag move.
Considering he's at the gym upwards of 6 hours a day, something has to be done about this. I've personally seen other members look at him at a confused state of mind, thinking 'is he really holding that machine for him and not letting anyone else use it?'
If Gold's Gym Metro really cares about its members and wants to continue delivering them the best gym experience, then they have to revoke his membership. The $32 or whatever he's being charged a month is not worth the headache or negative attention.
I like the layout of the gym. Parking is free and easily available. I don't worry too much about the yearly price hikes. The men's locker room is very small. There's plenty of equipment to go around with and it never gets too busy after work hours. Most of the members appear to be nice, except for the one member everybody seems to want to get rid of. Someone even referenced him on the Gold's Gym Germantown Yelp account. Matt Clifford, Brenda Jorgensen, and Josh Fuglsby, or anybody in the headquarters in the VA location, please consider the feedback and comments of your members. This gym and its location get 4 stars. I'll change to 5 stars when this particular member and his situation gets addressed and handled appropriately.

For the equipment itself, I'd give it a 3. Considering it is gold's gym, you'd think there was enough free weights, but the free weights section is surprisingly small. And when things needed maintenance, it took forever to be done.
The staff was incompetent. Hardly anyone was ever at the desk and when they were, they were not very helpful unless they had their manager with them.
I had to reactivate my account because of a stolen credit card and gave them my new payment form and they told me that I was all set. They never actually updated anything and I had to pay for 3 months worth in one go for their incompetence.
When I tried to cancel because I moved 2 hours away, I asked if I could do it via phone and whoever answered insisted I absolutely had to go in person to cancel. When I got there, the next person didn't know how to help me and literally gave me the number to cancel the membership...which they could've given me from the start, before I drove 2 hours.
I was also told from the manager when I signed up that I was signing up for a month to month non contract membership and he assured me that I could cancel anytime and specified that no notice was needed. When I canceled, they charged me for an additional month because they require 30 day notice even though I am on a 2 week plan because they told me they don't offer monthly rates.
This was a very frustrating experience.

Disappointed with Gold's Gym Germantown – Poor Maintenance and Unresponsive Management
I was considering joining Golds Gym but after experiencing the gym for a day and hearing the experience my friend had, I will not be joining. My friend joined Gold's Gym in Germantown several months ago, initially drawn in by the newer-looking equipment and what seemed like a well-maintained space. Unfortunately, the reality has been far from it.
While the gym does have newer equipment, it's a relatively small space and they don’t have a lot of machines to begin with. The bigger issue is that many of the machines are constantly out of order. There are always signs on them saying they need to be repaired, and when something breaks, it stays that way for weeks before it’s fixed. It’s frustrating when you’re trying to stay consistent and you can’t even rely on the basic equipment being available.
Since she joined, the women’s locker room has been shut down twice. The sauna, which is supposed to be a standard amenity, has been broken for weeks now with no update on when it will be fixed. The sinks in the locker room splatter water everywhere – she even mentioned it to management and nothing was ever done. On top of that, the water filter has been showing a red light for over two weeks, and the water actually smells off – possibly because the filter hasn’t been replaced.
They charge an $80 annual “amenity/service” fee, which would be fine if the amenities actually worked. But between the broken machines, non-functional sauna, ignored maintenance issues, and the questionable water quality – it’s hard to see where that money is going.
To make matters worse, management doesn’t seem to care. There’s no sense of urgency or professionalism. As another review put it, this place feels more like a high school hangout spot than a gym – and unfortunately, the staff seem to be part of the crowd rather than managing it.
If you’re looking for a gym with reliable equipment, clean and functional facilities, and professional staff – this isn’t it. Very disappointing.

How are we paying for amenities and we can't even utilized them. Sauna in the women locker room has been down for weeks now and no one seems to know what's wrong and when it's going to be fixed. Staffs have no clue of anything that's going on in the gym. Machines are getting destroyed and no one seem to care. I use to love this place but now it's a mess

Please fix the lockers! Just get rid of the locks since they do not work and then gym doesn’t maintain them. I’d rather have the option to use my own lock! Such a pain and stress to deal with, annoying way to start your workout.
********
Gym space and equipment are great, one of the best in this area. There is a good selection of equipment that is clean, new, and modern.
My only complaint is the locker room. The lockers have the combo locks that are always locked up from previous users so when you go in, there may only be one locker available, if that (and you spend 5 mins hunting for one). Shower space is large and clean but the hot water is not really hot, just barely warm enough. Recommend getting rid of the combo locks or manage them better. Also recommend turning the temperature up on the hot water.
If it weren’t for the locker room issues, I’d rate the gym 5 stars.

I recently joined gold's gym and I really enjoy it as a workout facility.
Everything is more spread out unlike other gyms witch allows me to focus better on my routines, and provides less distraction while training. Most of the equipment is brand new witch I can appreciate as well.
I love this gym, it's a great place to be and I highly recommend it.

The location is okay, but the customer service, members, and equipment need massive improvements. Lots of members don’t wipe down their sweaty machines after use. They drag the DBs across the gym and use them for 45 mins while other members can’t access them. They abuse the equipment which is why it’s always broken. When you mention it to front desk they shrug it off and do nothing to enforce proper gym etiquette nor do they greet you. The tripod use is out of control and it endangers members when it’s blocking walkways, workout areas, and the DB rack. Several women wear inappropriate clothing on the gym floor. I don’t want to see that while I’m lifting. For being the “Mecca of bodybuilding” this location is everything but that. Sad to see a gym with such potential be ruined with horrible experiences due to awful etiquette and management. Bring back the old days of real golds gym attitude! Where the gym is for lifting not social hour.

OMG this place has weights but if you don't go during off hours, good luck. I remember when Steve Morningstar ran the Fitness First before the Gold's franchise bought it out. They were first class.
They moved the gym to a better location but they skipped on the construction. The floor is not level. You put a dumbell on the floor and it rolls away from you.
Stuff is always broken. The locks in the mens room are always broken. They got 2 benches that fit only 2 people max so only 4 men can get changed at a time unless you want to stand up and change.
Twice I worked out with one time coming out of the sauna to go take a shower and the water was as cold as an Alaskan lake.
I have never been in a gym that had no hot water.
I love the setup at the germantown facility, but they should not have closed the Gaithersburg facility as that one was much better maintained.
I think I'm going back to Planet Fitness since I'm older and cardio and dumbells are good enough for me and they have losts of that. Plus hot water in the showers.

For such a new gym equipment selection could be way better. Tons of squat racks but not even a hyperextension machine. Staff says no one cares about complaints to corporate so it is what it is. Equipment frequently broken and poor routine maintenance and service. For a national chain that claims to care about it's members I would say they're doing a pretty poor job. Would recommend finding a better gym if you're looking.

I like this gym other than the fact that the showers are always ice cold. You basically can not shower there, they should not even advertise it as an option. I got a very bad experience with Golds Gym, actually it was a Germantown location, Maryland, my son was visiting me and signed up for a month there, he’s done it before with LAFitness, and we never got any issues. So, he paid for a month with my debit card, but since then they started charging my card every week, different amounts. During that month I paid 200$ . I went there after my 3rd payment to check what is going on and what are those payments, someone from their staff told me, that membership was immediately cancelled, but the following week I was charged 80$ more, tried to talk to manager, it too me 3 hours to get to him, and he told me, if I didn’t pay it, they’d send it to collectors. Then he promised to get back to me and try to solve my problem, but never did. And now I know, why the name is Golds gym, it cost me 200$ in a month. And the end of story, I knew that I was scheduled for 2 more payments, so, they wanted to round up to 250$, because 200 $ wasn’t enough for 10 days in Gold’s Gym. When I rushed in , manager was very rude, didn’t actually tell me his name, he said, they canceled these 2 new payments, but in manner, like he was laughing at me. So, I never got any money back, but, if you’re looking for continuous stress, this gym is a right place

Review of Gold's Gym Germantown, MD
A Modern Fitness Haven with Exceptional Service
Gold's Gym Germantown has been a fitness cornerstone in the community since its grand opening a little over a year ago. True to the Gold's Gym legacy, this location combines the best of what the brand has to offer with an innovative open floor plan and an arena-style design that makes the gym vibrant, modern, and relevant.
Facilities and Equipment
The gym's layout is both spacious and inviting, providing a welcoming atmosphere for both seasoned athletes and fitness newcomers. The variety of equipment available is extensive, covering everything from free weights to cardio machines. However, to stay competitive with other Gold's Gym locations in the area, adding a few more machines would be a beneficial enhancement.
Group Classes
While I haven't personally participated in the group classes, I often see participants leaving with expressions of satisfaction and euphoria. This visual feedback speaks volumes about the quality and impact of these sessions, suggesting that they are well worth trying.
Membership and Affordability
One of the standout features of Gold's Gym Germantown is its affordability. The membership fees are modest compared to other gyms in the area, which often feel more like social clubs than places focused on fitness. This makes Gold's Gym an excellent choice for those seeking value for money without compromising on quality.
Customer Service
As someone who values exceptional customer service, I can confidently say that Gold's Gym Germantown excels in this area. My experience working for a Fortune 500 company has set a high bar for customer service standards, and this gym meets and exceeds those expectations. The employees, particularly Jorge, William, Camron, and Noah, have demonstrated outstanding dedication and professionalism.
Even before the gym opened, these team members were instrumental in promoting the new location from their mini satellite office next to Domino's Pizza. They provided updates on the gym's design, equipment, and promotions, ensuring that prospective members were well-informed and excited about the opening. Their commitment to customer satisfaction has remained unwavering, and they continue to be the backbone of the gym's community spirit.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Gold's Gym Germantown has successfully established itself as a top-tier fitness center with a modern twist. The combination of excellent facilities, affordable membership, and exemplary customer service makes it a standout choice in the Germantown area. Whether you're looking to start your fitness journey or seeking a new gym to call home, Gold's Gym Germantown is well worth considering.
I must certainly remain,
The Marine-

Attending Gold's Gym in Germantown, Md is a excellent experience. The staff are professional, knowledgeable, helpful, warm, friendly, and encouraging!
This gym is well-equipped for a variety of workouts, both aerobic and anaerobic, for circuit training to heavy lifters, from novice athletes to veterans - all are welcome and easily accommodated. The equipment ranges from free weights and simple apparatus to advanced machines. There are multiple aerobic treadmills and more. Everything is well maintained and clean. The gym is housed in a large spacious area. There is plenty of room to move about.
The men's and women's facilities are new, big and beautiful.
I visited several other gyms in the area, but Gold's provides the highest standards for all types of fitness desires and needs.

I’ve been going to gyms since the 70’s, starting at Chuck Foreman’s nautilus on Shady Grove road, then the PSU weight rooms in the 80’s and have now been with Golds for quite a while.
This gym is one of the largest, nicest (new) gyms I’ve seen.
One suggestion- all of the cardio machines have tv monitors connected to them, blocking the view of the gym. I’d eliminate them, nobody uses them and I think people would rather their view not be blocked.

Gold's Gym Germantown is a masterclass in how to fail spectacularly at customer service. They don't just disappoint – they actively deceive and manipulate their members.
Let's start with the closure of our original location, Airpark in Gaithersburg. We let them know the Germantown location does not work for us and we don't want to continue our membership. They made it seem like they understood and would process the cancellation request. But... time went on and we were still getting billed.
Attempting to rectify the situation was like banging my head against a brick wall. Calls to the location were exercises in futility, with endless holds and zero accountability. They would purposely put me on hold for up to 60 minutes and never come back. And when we finally managed to speak to a manager, they told me to send agreement info, barcode info, and reason for cancelling to their inbox, and that would serve as the "30-day cancellation notice" and would stop us from getting billed the following month. SURPRISE...continued to get billed. And now that they knew what I was trying to do when contacting them, they stopped talking to me on the phone and answering emails. Radio silence.
To other people in this situation, I recommend calling ABC Fitness Solutions directly as they run billing for this awful business - was able to actually get the membership cancelled.
DO NOT: attempt to block payments from your credit card because they will send you to collections.
This has been a horrific experience, and the lesson learned here is to do business with a locally-owned gym that cares about its members.
I've taken this grievance up the ladder – the consumer protection division @ the MD Attorney General's Office & filed a dispute with the Better Business Bureau.
TL;DR
Fraudulent business that does gymnastics to avoid getting you the information you need to cancel memberships. Steer clear of Gold's Gym (both this location & any others) like it's a sinking ship - you will thank yourself.

Move here from the college park location.
Gym etiquette is terrible at this location. People are rude, don’t put their weights back, and always setting up cameras.
The gym has does not have 2.5 pound plates. You can only increment by 5 pounds.
The locker is the worst part, at least the men’s. It is always a mess. Toilets are always clogged. The lockers themselves have pad locks and the majority are broken and don’t work. The lockers are also tiny if you’re lucky enough to find one that works.
I cancelled my membership after 2 months.

Untrustworthy. Tried to put a hold on the account twice but kept getting charged as their staff didn’t actually record it. Won’t accept cancellations over the phone either. When I went in to cancel, they informed me it takes 30 DAYS for the system to process a request and I would be charged twice in the meantime—a total of 4 payments for a service that was actively trying to be suspended.

Run!! The worst customer service ever! They are liars. When I signed up for membership, I informed them that I would be moving to Miami. They told me that they have a Miami location. After moving, I discovered that the Miami location was permanently closed years ago. I called to cancel my membership, they told me to email corporate. I emailed corporate and I have an email stating that it satisfied the written notice. Yet they are still charging me. I’ve asked for the manager to contact me and no one ever did. I’m now tired of waiting and will be filing a complaint with the attorney general and BBB.

I would not recommend this place. The management is dishonest about the initiation fees. They never even mentioned a $79 dollar initial fee, and they said there was a $59 dollar fee that they would credit me after I negotiated with them. They never credited me the $59 fee. I ended up paying $130 that I was never told I would have to pay. This was all verbally through the manager, who I shouldn't have trusted. The gym itself is just okay.

Will the sauna be fixed this winter? It’s been out of order for 4+ weeks. Update: Sauna was fixed - took about 5 weeks.
Gym etiquette at this location is horrible. There are a select few in the morning hours who can’t seem to grasp the concept of putting their weights back after using machines. It’s the same members who don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom, so no surprise there.
Also, the hogging of dumbbells is getting out of hand. Is anyone from management going to say something to these members?
Additionally, please remove members from the sauna who sit in there for an hour, bring dumbbells in, bring fitness bands in and soak every surface in sweat. It’s absolutely disgusting.
Really hope something is done regarding these issues.

I go to this gym on a regular basis (3-5+ times per week).
This location has the potential to be exceptional, except it's held back by the constant poor decisions of whoever chooses the equipment in the gym. There's a weird collection of machines and weights in the gym, all of which make working out slightly annoying, including:
- 8+ squat racks but only 1 smith machine
- only 3 cable stations on a single cable machine for cable work
- only 1 chest fly cable machine (it's currently broken)
- only 1 chest fly / delt fly weight stack machine (for a gym this size there should really be 2-4)
- only 1 leg extension machine (always occupied)
- only 1 leg curl machine (always occupied)
- ZERO 2.5 lb weights (5lb weights are the minimum increment)
- There are only around 70 lockers in the mens locker room, over half of them are permanently broken (locked open or the handle is completely broken off on more than 30 of them, meaning there is never an available locker)
- No "personal items" locker, where you can store small things like wallets or keys. This would easily help solve the locker problem. I really wish they would add this.
- Only 2 sets of dumbbells for the lower weights (4 dumbbells of each weight). Given how large the dumbbell area is, there should really be 3 sets of each dumbbell weight
- Free weight plates are oftentimes far away from the machine, where you sometimes need to scavenge the weight you need from other machines that people are actively using.
These are all very small factors that can be EASILY solved if management cared at all about the experience they were delivering to their customers, but all of those factors add up for a two-star experience. For the amount of time and money that was put into this gym, management has really failed to deliver.
I write this review to hopefully help enact change because I'd really like to love this gym and I want to work out here for a long time to come, but I'm not sure of a better way to publicize the shortcomings that this gym has than to write a review.
I will update this review with notes and comments if any of these factors ever get addressed. Until then: 2 stars.

Gold's Gym at Germantown is a great facility with plenty of state-of-the-art equipment to get in a solid workout. My only gripe are the lockers. For one, there aren't sufficient lockers in the men's locker rooms relative to the quantity of members. This has caused a shortage of lockers available during peak hours. In addition, the lockers are self-lock and if you don't reset the lock following use, the locker is no longer functional; which exacerbates the shortage of usable and available lockers. Lastly, the self-lock lockers add complexity to figuring out which locker you used since there's no easy identifier to re-locate the locker you placed your items in. Adding additional lockers in the locker rooms along with enabling people to use their own locks to secure their items would increase the quality and intuitiveness of this gym.

When you join everyone smiles but if you cancel no one respond to call or emails... you will get charged as well
I visited the gym and the staff were initially very friendly trying to convince the customer to join the gym and after 1 month of membership I planned to cancel my membership and sent multiple emails to the gym's Email address but received no response.
I called the Gym's phone number they requested to visit the gym physically for cancellation and freezing account but next day I got charged and what the front desk told me was not approved by their management.
I had to pay 1 month fee of 40$ as notice, annual membership cost of 80$, another 100$ as cancellation fee and yet I see my membership is not cancelled and it is due for another charge in Dec.
While joining the gym everyone is smiling but if you cancel no one respond to your emails and you don't know to whom you should talk... gym manager is in meeting and front desk cannot make decision... I am just stuck

They continue to bill me even though I've already canceled my membership. When the gym initially opened, they assured me that I could cancel at any time without incurring any charges. However, it seems they were more interested in attracting new members and were not truthful about their policies because non one actually reads the like 50- pages of terms and conditions and everybody trusts the representative at the front desk. Upon contacting them, their response was, "We are not obligated to read the terms and conditions.", which is fair enough because i shouldnt have taken their word for it. ALL THEY WANT IS A CARD ON FILE SO THEY CAN KEEP CHARGING YOU!!! they dont care about you or anything else!!!

This has never happened before as my trainer trains at Gold’s Gym (A different location). I told the associate ( a short, out of shape, fellow African american) what was going on and he says he’ll check with the manager, comes back out and says I can’t work out with a DC ID however I can buy a membership or day pass. I ask could I speak the manager and he says he is the manager. Why not say that initially? My trainer told me just leave and i’ll never be back. Why would I buy a pass to somewhere I haven’t even tried? I thought you were supposed to be recruiting not pushing people away. 0 stars customer service. 0 stars accountability. 0 stars everything very weird framchise and it starts with the “manager”

I have been a member of gyms since the early 1980s and have seen every kind of gym layout and equipment. The Golds in Germantown is incredibly spacious, the equipment is new and latest in design, and the gym is clean overall. The three stars are for the apparent lack of some pieces of equipment. They only have one leg extension and one leg curl, which is always occupied. Several other pieces fall into the same category, making it very difficult to get your workout done. Also, you find people sitting on equipment staring into their phones instead of doing their sets. I have done four sets on three different pieces of equipment and seen the same person sitting on another piece of equipment staring into their phone through all 12 of my sets. It is annoying when you need a piece of equipment, and someone occupies it for a long time only because they take five or more minute breaks between sets to do whatever they are doing on their phone. The staff never monitors equipment use. I do want to say that the staff I have encountered in the morning and at noon are very friendly and helpful if you have any questions.

Still baffled that golds airpark location just suddenly closed. Pretty much the only reason I kept my membership the past few years was because of the group exercise classes and the freaking amazing instructors (shout out to Gwen, Pam) I stayed loyal through covid and even kept my membership when I walked in one day last year with my two year old and was informed kids club closed the week before. Apparently they sent out an email informing members? The group exercise room at airpark was small, no windows with poor ventilation and temperature control (felt like I was doing a HIT cardio class in hot yoga like conditions) The dedicated, awesome instructors are the only reason I kept coming back.
Visited the new Germantown location thinking surely the group exercise room would be a better set up. Umm negative. Still small and cramped feeling and still hot/stuffy. No windows…no childcare. Felt like an after thought to a nice, big beautiful gym. Golds gym clearly doesn’t value their members that come primarily for the group exercise classes. Airpark abruptly closing was the final straw so I’ll be looking into joining a different gym in the area that values moms with young kids more and group exercise enthusiasts

There was a lot of promise about the new gym particularly for those of us that choose Golds for its classes. The group fitness room was supposed to be at least on par with existing locations even the one that it replaced. Unfortunately it is a glorified closet (probably just the storeroom for the shoes at the former DSW that had the space before). It also sports inadequate HVAC, incomplete mirrors and only one door and no windows. It is hard to understand how it passed inspection with only only one door and no other fire exit with the amount of people that are packed in that room.
For those of us who are loyal to the teachers that are the backbone of the Golds group fitness class system it is hard to watch them continually ignored and dismissed (along with paying members who try to make requests) when week after week we complain about the heat and humidity in the glorified closet that they force us to work out in. Something as simple as standing fans have been requested since the gym first opened but have been roundly ignored.
The gym is a place to find relief from stress and to get healthier. That’s is not what is happening at Germantown. Instead it is a place where your basic health needs and safety might just be dismissed.

It was great going to a gym that has a lot of modern equipment like you see on social media. The sparkly new gym has 8 power racks, 4 flat benches (2 on a platform), and a ton of leg training equipment. There is a hack squat vertical squat, pendulum squat, unilateral leg press, three specilized glute machines and more. The Gym80 products are awesome. There is a fair amount of Matix equipment which I find some of it too narrow for me to use like the shoulder press and incline press. The facility is spacious with a lot of equipment and there's even more coming in, according to the staff. Hopefully, another universal cable machine, heavier dumbells, and kettlebells are on the list. The locker room (M) and the rest of the gym are maintained at a high state of cleanliness. Very nice job, Golds Gym! It's definitely an impressive facility.

Great gym and great staff but I gotta say... Golds touts all this stuff about "diversity equity and inclusion" and then they're doing away with their kiddie centers?? Way to exclude and discriminate against parents. What's your answer for a single parent looking for a much needed sweat session, or a couple who wants to work out together after a long day? Hire a babysitter at $25/hour everyday just to get a workout in? Or is the intention to clean up the brand image by doing away with the "family" environment? Quite saddened because I love it here but I can't ever make it in because my baby is not accommodated or welcome here.

This is a brand new gym, clean, and pleasant to work out. However, I am disappointed with the equipment they have available. There’s no back extension station, no sitting leg curl machine… There’s only one leg extension machine. Even though the gym is not normally too crowded, I have to wait to use a machine or think of a creative alternative for my plan. I don’t have much time; I’m lucky if I find to be at the gym at all. And I have to forget about supersets. Otherwise - super nice.

What can I say, it’s Golds.
The equipment is awesome, and the legacy gym design (large open space) feels great.

(This is of the Fox Chapple Location. Have not been to new location yet)
I have a multi club membership and travel around. I have seen a bunch of Gold's over the last 20 years. This one was clearly something else, then expanded. The free weights area is tighter than most Gold's I have been to. The cardio area is "way over there"... In some space they took over.
But down to the location. The person who checked me in could not have been a happier person. You know the type... They make you smile even if you are cranky. She checked me in and took my temperature as she checked my membership. Once again, extremely friendly.
The free weight area is a little on the small side. With really only one deadlift platform. Also a lot of the dumbbells might be older than me. They also tend to be "all over the place" and only a few mismatched manufactures. But I didn't have a problem finding anything. One of the round dumbbells did roll off the rack thou. No problem finding a bench on a Sunday... But I have seen it buzzing back pre covid.
There is a "athletic training room" and aerobics room.
Lastly the machines all seemed to be in working order. But they had removed some attachments like ropes. Guessing that has to do with the ability to clean it.
I passed on the whole body composition assessment.
Over all... I will be back when I am around.

Extremely poor member care by Chris the general manger of the Germantown location. I would not recommend this location because of him. You would expect a general manager to exhibit customer care attributes so that it is a model for team members to replicate and disseminate. Chris is extremely rude, obnoxious and incompetent. Terrible new management! Stay away from this place! I would give 0 stars if I could.
Let me preface by saying my brother and I have been members at this gym for about 5 years now, we have seen management, trainers, and staff change many times.
The incident occurred yesterday (7/6), while my brother and I were working out, doing deadlifts (using pads on the floor). Chris, the latest GM (been here about a year), comes from across the room loudly yelling at us to stop. He says we're messing up "his floors" and continues on to tell us to go to another gym. We have seen members working out dropping weights loudly and he has never said anything, yet he chose to specifically target us. He continues to tell us we should go workout at Airpark (other Gold's Gym location) and that we don't know how to lift weights. He then threatens us "don't make me come back out of my office."
Later, when we were leaving the gym, he told one of his employees to make us sign out. The employee claimed this was a new mandatory procedure for all members, however we came back to the gym later on and nobody else was told to sign out. When we asked why we were told to sign out, we did not get a straight response. We captured the entire interaction on video. The staff tells us to come back tomorrow as the GM (Chris) had left and that we needed to speak to him.
So the next day (7/7), we came back to the gym looking for some answers for our unjust treatment. When we go to the GM's office, he asks "What do you want now?" in a rude tone. We say we just want some answers as to why we're being treated this way. He goes on to say he's on break and doesn't want to talk to us. Then he starts walking away. At this point we also record his reaction, he gives no comment as to his behavior the previous day. This was also witnessed by another employee.
Absolutely ridiculous! Spend your money elsewhere! Chris the manager is rude and unprofessional!

The classes are awesome the child care people are very friendly but the front desk people are very rude and unfriendly. They don’t help you when you need help they won’t greet you when you walk in or when you leave. When you call they are very unprofessional.

The classes and instructors at Germantown are amazing. The current manager Chris (?) is very unprofessional. He’s always at the front desk talking to the receptionist, without greeting anyone. He does not acknowledge problems that are reported to him. Equipment remains in disrepair and the ceiling in the classroom leaks.

I began attending this gym around May of this year. The gym layout is very unique is how I will describe it; not like your traditional gym. The staff is awesome which is a plus, reason why I keep going due to the environment. It's not always that busy as well. The only thing that should be addressed is the lack of update with the gym equipment. Some of the machines do not work correctly (treadmill). I actually was on one and I increased my speed and it kept decreasing on its on. Therefore, I got on a different one and that one wouldn't allow me to incline. The elliptical machine that I was on had pulled rubber on the handles which was not pleasant to see. The amount of money that is spent monthly the gym should have better upgrades with equipment. I completed the initial assessment to calculate BMI, etc, which was done incorrectly, I've asked to have a follow-up nothing; I would like the follow-up to check-on my progress/goals. Again, other than the outdated machinery, the gym is alright. Staff is great, always greet you when you enter and exit. So far the GM is a great guy; very customer driven.

I’ve been going to golds Germantown since it was fitness 1st. This was a great gym in the past now, it’s horrible. 80% of the time they do not open on time leaving members waiting. Management has been bad for years now and hiring morning front desk people that won’t get up and open. Only consistent worker is Mario who always opens ontime when he’s here and opens even when he is off. Also the equipment sucks. I stopped coming here unfortunately. But shout out to Mario. At least you care

My home gym for one year. The daycare staff is exceptional . Honestly that's the only reason I didn't move to any other gym. They are naturally caring for my kids.
Gym always clean, staff is nice . It didnt change much since it was fitness first. But the daycare is nice.
I wanna EDIT : I will still stand by my review for the daycare staff is phenomenal but the management is horrible. I wanted to cancel my membership and I gave the proper documents , the manger frieda is poorly trained management. When I met her she indicated that she received my cancellation documents after they gym lost it, they charged me two month of services even though when I saw her face to face she told me I am all good . Wish it had better management I would have stayed because everyone else is amazing aside from the horrible management.

Has gone terribly down hill since purchased by golds gym. The machines are always broken, the materials such as paper towels and cleaning wipes are always empty and never replenished, and the facility is always dirty. This gym has fallen far in a short period of time.
