Friendly location and staff however equipment is not maintained on a regular enough basis, bathrooms are not cleaned often enough and paper towels and cleaning products are not always available. Most importantly, there is a huge problem with Wi-Fi not working. Have had two weeks now of no Wi-Fi and when I ask about it, I am told it is being worked on. I have been at this gym for many years now because of itβs convenience to my home. Just wish more effort was made with maintenance. Hope this review is seen by someone at Golds who will take action.

This Golds gym tried to steal money after I canceled my membership with them. Not only were they still charging me monthly fees but they charged me over $700 in 3 weeks after I canceled. My bank told me they have huge issues with this gym for the same reason. They are still emailing me about not being able to charge the card on file. I truly warn anybody that reads this avoid they poor quality gym they will steal your money. They do not honor their policies.

Where to start...Overall, the gym is in bad shape. The equipment is dirty, broken-down, and outdated. Exercise machines often go out of service or make strange noises, yet they are not replaced. There's been several times where the air conditioner stops working, so it's a sauna either in the multi-purpose room or throughout the gym. The bathrooms/locker room area is also not well maintained. Wifi is spotty and does not work in certain parts of the gym. Some of the staff members are also rude. Once, my phone was not pulling up their barcode, so I provided my ID to the staff member. And, he was unwilling to look up my information. The only reason I stayed in the gym for over 2 years was because of some of their group exercise classes, but overall, my experience was not positive.
Now onto dishonesty...I had signed up for the plan that does not have a contract. When I was told about the plan, I was told that I could cancel anytime without being charged extra. However, I found out that this was not the case. I spoke with the staff at the gym about this several times, and they said that giving them 30 days notice was not enough. Apparently I had to tell them over 2 months in advance that I was leaving the gym. So, now I'm being charged for services that I cannot even use because I moved to a different state. If you are considering this gym, make sure that you read the contract carefully and understand it fully. If something does not seem right, do not sign up with them.

Itβs a real gym for folks who want to work out, not look like theyβre working out. So yeah, maybe not for everybody. Absolutely every piece of lifting gear you could possibly need is available and plenty of cardio options. Laughed when I read a review about it smelling sweaty. Not that it does, but Iβm pretty sure the same poster complained about his car engine being greasy.

Management at this location is horrible. My family and I have been members long before Gold's Gym took over, when Fitness First owned these facilities. Never in the 18 years + of being members have we ever had such poor customer service as experienced today. The ""General Manager" (if such title fits a person who fails at management) failed to accept the lack of responsibility responding to emails, instead justified himself and his staff by saying he "is too busy". After trying to explain the situation he walked to his office talking to other staff saying " he doesn't care." Does't care about what? Customer Service? What General Manager does that? When asked for the contact information for the person in charge next in line to complain the General Manager said " I am corporate" and the staff laughed when I asked if they had the information for the District manager stating "he doesn't deal with customer problems but good luck trying." I have lost full respect for this management at this facility after causing a family member to cry today. All it would have taken was a simple I am sorry I did not respond to your email, lets see how I can help resolve your problem.

I bought 12 sessions of training and cancelled after some sessions remaining with the trainer. Golds Gym North Potomac still continued to charge me for another 3 extra months and another $1000 or so dollars to my credit cards. Please DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE with your credit cards or bank account or anything - they are FRAUD.

I imagine this is a good place to go if you don't want to spend a lot of money for a gym -- its a faction of LA Fitness or Lifetime Fitness. Serves a different demographic. Maybe at 20 the smells were tolerable, but in middle age its hard to stomach the surrounding. Lifetime costs substantially more, but the open space, the layout of the facility, the lockers and amenities make it a place one can go and work out in earnest. Again though, Gold's Gym is a great place for a kid or someone in their 20s.

Be sure to read contract you are signing VERY carefully when you join this facility. The membership team does not outline terms and conditions clearly and unknowingly you are locked into a year long contract that is non-negotiable. Customer service at the Darnestown location is poor when trying to gain a better understanding of the facilities policy upon cancellation. I was a member for a few months and found that the machines I enjoyed using (stairclimbers in back of gym) were consistently out of order causing me to look to other fitness facilities. I NEVER write reviews, but found this experience so frustrating, I figured what the hell. Good luck!
