My son started his lessons here under a different manager. Ever since we changed managers (no longer Ms. Tracey?) And Mr. Mickey came back, he is finally advancing through his classes. We are recieveing feedback on what he needs to work on. We know what skills need to be completed. We almost left because we were not moving forward and we're not told why. Now, under new management, we have great communication, excellent teachers who are getting results, and (as previously stated) strong management.

We’ve been coming here since my 3-year-old was a baby for the Mommy & Me classes with my husband. It was such a wonderful way to introduce her to the water and help her feel comfortable. Now under new management, the improvements are clear throughout the building. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and great at tailoring classes and instructors to fit my daughter’s needs.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! Save your money and go to a different place. I just found out they say you have to cancel a month in advance if you don't want to be billed for another month of their swim classes. I signed up for the remainder of the month which was only 2 classes when we joined, I did not put a card on file thank goodness. How could I cancel a month in advance if I just started and I'm not happy with what they're providing? So if you just wanted to try it out you'd have to do a full month and then pay for another month to cancel for the following month. DO NOT SIGN UP HERE UNLESS YOU'RE FINE WITH PAYING 2 MONTHS BEFORE BEING ABLE TO LEAVE THEIR CLASSES WITHOUT BEING BILLED. They also told me they would send it to COLLECTIONS so BEWARE. Also, they make you sit outside the pool are and told me I'm "distracting other children" when not a single other child cared about me except my own. As well as making you pay monthly rather than per class, if your child completes a skill set or you feel your child can swim well enough based on your own observations & you don't plan to go back, they make you pay for the full month. That part just doesn't make sense to me. I definitely won't be coming back or paying for another month once our next class is completed. I also believe they teach things real slow intentionally to keep people coming back and doing barely anything in their 30 minute classes. 4 classes a month. This was definitely a bad experience, I've had better at other places and been able to pay per class.

Our kid needed to be at arms length anytime we got into the pool a year ago. Now she’s swimming across the whole pool solo while most kids her age are still in floaties!

My daughter and I attended the Mommy and Me class and we will not be attending again. To start, the desk attendant was walking out to the parking lot as I was walking in and said we “could just check ourselves in”. This being our first time, it took me a moment to realize there was an iPad where you could check in. There was no tour to show where the changing rooms or locker rooms were. Also, it was called a locker room, but there were no lockers so we had to bring our whole diaper bag and sit it next to the pool. Then, a group of five or six different people showed up late with their children because there was a snake in their engine?????? It disrupted the class and they continued to talk over the instructor so it was hard to understand the exercises I was supposed to do with my daughter. To top it off, a mom shared with me that her daughter got an eye infection when she dipped her under water. My expectations were obviously not met, will be taking my business elsewhere.

Horrible!! my child got a sinus infection from here and when I asked if she could at least reschedule the class I was told no. The place is dirty filled with mold and smells like pee! Don't bring you're child here! Oh PS good luck trying to stop the auto draft. I suggest the British swim school. It's been fabulous!

The front desk was really helpful and kind to me when I explained I couldn't do the mommy & me classes I signed up for because my 1 year old has an ear infection. They are allowing me to reschedule. I think that says a lot about a company/team that is willing to accommodate and who understands - for that reason alone, I recommend KIDS FIRST Swim School - Bel Air. I recommend calling to schedule classes / book anything. Online was confusing to me but the front desk team is very kind and very helpful!

I signed up for a mommy and me class, which I think is decent and fun to do with my child. However, their pricing is not clear at all. I was under the impression I was signing up for 1 class and I actually got charged for a month of classes. Then I did not tell them 30 days in advance that I didn’t want a second month of classes so I am now in a second month, which is annoying because the mommy and me class is the same everytime. But also because I don’t feel like any of this is clear or makes sense when you sign up online I signed up for a class on January 27 and was told that because I made an account with them on January 11, I would have needed to cancel by February 1 to not do march classes. But I didn’t even have a class until a few days before that. It’s very predatory and I don’t understand why it needs to be that way. And they offer no refunds and have it posted everywhere which says a lot. I will not be coming back here after we go to the classes I paid for.

About a week ago, I enrolled my son in a swim class for a session starting in Sep. Then I received an email from Kids 1st Swim about a Back to School $10 discount for returning or new enrollment. I contact Kids 1st Swim in Bel Air to see if I can have the discount applied being that I just enrolled my son a week ago. I was told no. I am surprised that they would not still honor the discount as I did enroll my child for a back to school session. Furthermore, I've known many businesses that would honor it due to the short duration from enrollment to advertisement for the back to school session. As a retired active duty military person, I am shocked at their customer service and surprised that they couldn't honor a $10 discount because I signed up a week before they advertised the back to school discount ! I wanted to share this issue with all.

Kids first swim school in belair is amazing! My little one needed to build comfort and confidence in the pool. Ms.Kate his teacher is truly outstanding! She is patient with the kids and truly helps them feel safe and comfortable in the pool. She teaches him the skills in need in-order to be safe in the pool. When it comes to safety and the pool as a parents this was my first priority and this first swim school did that for us with there level approach to teaching. I am so very thankful. ~Thanks Michelle R

My toddler had been enrolled in 3 different mommy and me group sessions and each class was very unorganized and our instructors were very undertrained- one instructor was reading his lessons off of a piece of paper. The management and front desk is so unprofessional and not welcoming at all. We will not be returning and I will not be recommending to anyone.

Poor management. The manager is awful to parents and employees. I pulled my kids because they were in the water with no supervision. The teachers they have working there are untrained and don’t look like they actually want to be there. They have your child repeat the same level 3-4 times at $140 per session it shouldn’t take 3 sessions for your child to learn to float but they are never with the same instructor and the instructors grade based off how they feel about your child and the manager allows them. The manager is never there where you need them the front desk is always leaving a message for her to return your call and when she does she is condescending and rude. If you have kids there I suggest you pull them before it’s too late. This location is a joke it needs new management and teachers who are actually experienced in swimming. Instead of having teenagers teach our kids.

2023 Update........Tonight my second daughter had her first swim class. It was amazing, just as i remembered. The teacher was warm and comforting to the children. She took the time to visit with and get to know each family and baby. We can not wait for our next clasd. One of the best places for families and friends to get a safe education on swim and water safety as well as fitness and physical rehabilitation. Parents can take their young ones to learn how to swim and navigate the waters. Adults can also attend group swim education and aquatic fitness classes like Zumba and aerobics. The locker rooms and showers are clean and well lit. The facility is very well taken care of and has a friendly professional staff.

Stay away
This location is a money grab. If you pay for each lesson separately rather then pay for the one on one lessons this school will try to milk for everything you got. They will state that your kid is not progressing when in reality they have people who never worked with your child grading them. A majority of the time the instructors are spending 20 minutes trying to get the rowdy kids together to pay attention for the 30 minute class. Several parents I have spoke too have said they are pulling their kids from this school as they feel like they are being robbed.
If you want your child to learn how to swim I suggest you look elsewhere. As stated in another review the manager should not managing this location as she's incharge of teenage instructors that have no control in helping thier students. The manager will tell you that your kid will need to take one session 3-4 times @$150 a session which is ridiculous as there 8 sessions. The last session is the instructor teaching your child how to use their arms. Now if it takes a kid 3 sessions to learn how to to float which is 18 classes, is it the revolving door of instructors, or the manager that needs to be removed from this establishment. For what I've seen and from many other parents it's not the kids coming to learn but management is horrible!

This was my first time here. My great neice celebrated her birthday here. They were short staffed. The young man was responsible for working the party, being a life guard and running the shift. That was too much. He tried to be a little helpful but that was way to much work for him. There should be at least two people working especially when it's a pool party. Its unsafe honestly to work short staff anywhere but definitely at a pool. Im pretty sure its expensive to rent this place out for a few hours. So, give your patronage the proper staffing. It's a good place for a kids swim party over all.

Over the past 2 weeks, they have canceled my nieces swim lessons. Up to this point, I can't get her swim coach (Morgan) to contact me for the make-up sessions. And the manager (Dana) continues to tell me that they don't do refunds. This location really needs help in the ownership and leadership department.

Do not go here if your child is uncomfortable being in a pool!
Signed up for the mommy and me classes. My 2 y.o. daughter is scared of the water and we were hoping these classes would help. When we got in the pool my daughter was immediately crying and terrified. Teacher did not acknowledge my child at all except to say "i think your fibbing! " multiple times. My daughter spent half the class outside of the pool just watching. The teacher did nothing to help.
2nd class same deal, teacher used the same line "I think you're fibbing!" Daughter spent much of the class sitting on the side of the pool visibly terrified. Teacher said nothing else to us.
We came on a different night with a different teacher for the third class, but there were about a dozen kids in the class and once again my daughter wasn't really participating. Teacher asked if my daughter would swim with her, which was an improvement on the other teacher. Also asked if she was tired and offered her a toy, but it didn't help. We left after 10 minutes in the pool because it was clearly not getting better.
I talked to the manager who also happened to be the first teacher and she told us that we should just keep bringing her because it's going to get worse when she's older. I asked for a partial refund and she said no. I'm not taking her back to be terrified for no reason so we're just done and out for the money we spent.

I took my two year old to 2 mommy and me classes. She cried through the classes and was clearly very scared. The instructor only told her “oh come on, you’re just faking it” and said “oh it must be nap time.” Other than these extremely unhelpful comments, my child was ignored during the class (we didn’t even get advice during the 5 minutes of “free swim” at the end). After two of these classes, I told the front desk that I was not pleased with the instructor and they suggested we switch classes. Switched to a new class, and after my daughter continued to cry, the new instructor only asked if she was tired and otherwise ignored her. I get it that some kids are reluctant swimmers, but I would think that a swim school would have enough experience with this and offer some help and encouragement. I’m not expecting a miracle, but they didn’t even try. All they had were comments that belittled my daughter’s feelings. When we asked for a partial refund, they refused, and warned us that my child’s fear of the water will just get worse as she gets older.

We signed 2 of our children up for spring swim lessons. They happily took our $283.50, Covid 19 hit the fan and we never heard from them again. My wife stops by the Belair location often - nothing posted. We call several times a week - No answer, no recording. How very sad. Whoever owns this franchise is nothing short of a thief. PS - The only reason there is one star is because you cannot post without a least one star.

We had a pool party today for my 11 & 2 year old. No one greeted us when we arrived, no one told us when the kids could go out to the pool, and there was NO lifeguard on deck until I complained to the desk. I am a lifeguard & pool op and this is completely against code! Would not recommend this place to anyone!

Sherri and Staff has always been professional. My daughter took a break twice due to illness during sessions. Both times Sherri made accommodations which worked well for the facility and my family. My daughter is mastering each skill prior to moving on. Life saving skills, that will last a lifetime.

***UPDATE*** 10/10 - This swim school responded to my post immediately and asked me to contact them to discuss further. I sent an email immediately following their post and did not hear back.
We were very disappointed with this swim school. We found it very strange that this school has to post everywhere that the are “no refunds.” I feel like that says a lot about the school. Additionally, when my children came to their first swim lesson, they called their names from the door and the swim teacher walked away. I would have expected the swim instructor to come out and greet the children on their lesson to make them feel welcomed because they had no idea where to go or what to expect. Furthermore, I would have expected the person at the front to show us around or where to go, but instead she just pointed us where everything was located. We will not be coming back and even gave up our last swim lesson because we were so disappointed with the experience. Finally, while watching the lessons, it did not seem as though the instructors were correcting the mistakes or not show the students the moves. My children often seemed bored and would just be playing in the pool. I would NOT recommend this school. It is not welcoming to new comers and the instruction is not what we were expecting at all. I would hope that they would fix this so others feel welcomed and the students progress.
One last thing: I think they need a better system to let the instructor know that you would like to contact them. I left a sticky note (as directed by the front desk) and did not receive a call. I am not upset at the instructor for this.

The quality of coaches is going downhill quickly! They change coaches every week which is bad. This week’s coach was terrible! She was angry, nervous, confused and couldn’t manage to get the kids do what she wanted them to do. There was no manager on site so I couldn’t express my complaint. It was a real mess. It was more of a splash day to a swimming lesson. I’m so disappointed. This would probably be my son’s last session here.

Wanted swim lessons for my 10 year old son so he could learn to pass the swim test at our pool and go off the diving board. He was put into a class that was too simple for him with 5 year olds. I tried to explain to the staff that it was too easy for him TWICE to no avail. Thought maybe they would of offered a solution of switching classes to something more accommodating to his skill level.
Update: The kids first swim school reached out to me after contacting corporate. They have offered a solution to my concerns and I couldn’t be happier.
Thanks so much!!!

I find it hard to believe that anyone's child actually learned how to swim here. All they did for my daughter was repeatedly drop her into the deep and and let her try to figure it out, giving her an aversion to water at 2 that we're only just now at age 8 working through. I've taken her to another local swim school (I won't mention names, I'll leave that to the Village People) and she has made tremendous progress, already confident enough to try practicing without her swim vest after 1 half-hour lesson. So if you're a "deep end" kind of parent, this is the place for you. If you want your kid to not scream and cry when you walk in the door and sit on the side and cry through expensive lessons, maybe look for a different approach.
