The gym is not very clean. On multiple visits, there were no paper towels in the bathroom and no wipes available in the upstairs cardio area. The machines do not appear to be cleaned regularly, and overall the space feels unclean. Most people do not wipe down the equipment after use, and it doesn’t seem to be encouraged or enforced by staff.

On one occasion, a male maintenance worker entered the women’s restroom without any sign or warning, which was very uncomfortable.

Additionally, the music on the second floor is excessively loud. As an autistic person, the sensory environment and overall lack of cleanliness made it a difficult and unpleasant experience. I would not recommend this gym, especially for anyone who is neurodivergent or sensitive to noise and environmental conditions.

I’ve been LA Fitness Center for 15 to 80 years and I come every day and they are very nice to me. The manager are asking him. I've been coming to this LA Fitness for over 5 years now and I love this location over the location in Rio for big and organized they are constantly updating the equipment. The sauna all the time is bad, it makes a lot of mold around, the pool you can't use it while they are selling practices to other, they don't really clean the waters and if you pass 1 day without paying, you would have a call every 4 hras until you pay them but machines are always bad. 👎

Now, it's 1 star. The equipment has continued to be way past its prime. A lot of the machines are either broken (with a lot having rust on them!) or because they enforce no rules here, being destroyed by unruly teens who use this place as their hanging spot. Equipment and facility are usually filthy. The music is so loud you hear it through your headphones. Other LA Fitness centers play music that's more of a mix of 80's, 90's and 2000's. Not this place. It's really a very rotten experience, the only reason I come here is because there's not much else around. However, compared to LA Fitness centers in AA County, there's NO comparison at all.

I had a membership at LA Fitness on Quince Orchard for about a year and half and I only maintained my membership for that long because it was less than 5 minutes away from my house. Believe me it was a STRUGGLE. I tried to sign up for one of their discount offers and ended up being double charged. So instead of paying half price I payed double for like 6 months. And when I found out by reviewing my finances (they certainly didn’t catch it) I tried to resolve it (of course no refund) but a few months later I saw that I was STILL being double charged by LA Fitness. Of course there was no apology. Just a long empty stare and an exaggerated sigh like I’m causing them a great inconvenience. I’m telling you these employees absolutely could not be bothered to do their job. They will let you lose money before they get out of their chair or make a phone call to someone who can help. Don’t get a membership at this gym please.

This review is about the Kid CARE!! On Monday May 12th My 4 year old and I got to the gym and checked her in around 4:45 pm.
After my workout i went to go pick her up around 6pm. ( they have a 2hr time limit). When I got there I scanned the room and noticed my daughter wasn't there but i noticed one of the ladies standing by the bathroom door. there are two door and she was standing by the one closest to the wall. I gestured to her asking if that was my daughter in the bathroom and she pointed to the other bathroom door saying she was in that bathroom. I waited a few more minutes but i noticed under the door that the light was off. I motioned to the lady again asking are you sure she's in there because the light is off. She then UNLOCKED THE DOOR from the outside and my 4 year old came out eyes red crying! She had been locked in the bathroom for god knows how long. No one could give me answers as to how long she was in the bathroom. I wanted cameras pulled and they stated there were no cameras. I sent a msg to corporate with no response. I'm now reaching out to my LAWYER because I want answers. My 4 year old says she was screaming and crying and no one heard her. She said she was locked in the bathroom from the time I dropped her off. Someone better call me and give me answers

I broke my arm on January 8 (unrelated to the gym) and called on January 13 to freeze my membership—was assured it was paused—yet they charged me full price through March. Managers say “corporate won’t refund without proof,” but there’s no way to reach corporate. After disputing the charges, I got daily collection calls and was even denied access over a supposed “balance,” despite paying the frozen‐account fee and a prorated fee for part of last month. I cancelled today. If you sign up, protect yourself and use a credit card with solid dispute protections.

Won’t bother canceling as it’s almost impossible without jumping through hoops but anyone considering signing up I’d reconsider at least at this location.

1st star for being and gym and serving that purpose (though at least two of each of the cardio machines seem to be down or malfunctioning as of today 4/10/2025)
2nd star for being somewhat clean and sanitary compared to other LA Fitness gyms in MD.

Everything else is pretty lacking and subpar especially the young staff who lacks customer service skills and treat it like an after school hangout spot more than a job. But I guess that comes with the territory.
My biggest grievance with this location is its inconsistent “hours of operations” or use of facilities. Today everyone in the sauna and showers were kicked out at 10:45pm by someone abruptly yelling that the facilities were closed. So if you were finishing a workout and trying to get a quick 5min shower before they “closed” you were S.O.L
On other occasions you can use the sauna and showers until the minute they actually close. In my experience you can expect the showers and sauna to be closed anywhere from 5-20 mins before their posted closing hour. Seems like it depends on how much homework the staff has to get done that night.
Definitely something management should look into. At the very least extend the courtesy to your guests by letting them know at the door what time you plan to close the amenities we pay to use so we can manage our time at the gym accordingly. Or change your hours to 10/10:30pm so your staff can be out the door by 11pm sharp since that seems to be their only priority.

Pros- this location is larger than many and is fairly well maintained. I find that the restrooms and equipment are clean and usually in working order. The location is great. Multiple of each machine (not true at some other locations). Staff is very friendly, polite and helpful.

Cons- lately my membership has felt almost useless! When I go to the gym I can rarely get on the machines I want to because it is so incredibly crowded. I haven’t been able to use a squat rack or smith machine (basic equipment) in a few weeks due to the crowds. Lots of teenagers here goofing off. Lots of people who are discourteous- they sit on machines playing on their phones for prolonged periods or try to “reserve” machines that they’re not actually using, with a jacket or water bottle- really just rude behavior. Many people here don’t know what they’re doing and are attending as more of a social hour, which crowds up the gym. Like they will literally sit on the Smith machine chatting with others rather than actually using the machine. It’s super frustrating!

Overall, I think if you’re someone who works out very early in the morning or very late at night, and want a budget friendly option that has all the right equipment, then this would be a great choice. If you prefer to go to the gym between the hours of 9 AM- 7 PM like a normal human, honestly just forget it. Waste of time and money.

01-16 -2025 I’ve been coming here for four days, asking them to please lower the temperature in the men’s sauna, and it hasn’t been possible. The maintenance service is terrible; now the sauna can’t be used. The condition of some machines, which are broken, is also terrible.

I recently canceled my frozen membership at LA Fitness a day before my billing cycle, yet I kept receiving harassing phone calls from this location almost every morning, demanding that I pay a $10 fee for a service I had already canceled. Despite making my position very clear—that I will not pay for a canceled service—the staff was rude and insisted that I would continue to receive calls until I paid the $10.

This level of unprofessionalism and harassment is completely unacceptable. I was left with no choice but to escalate the matter to the corporate office and speak with a manager to resolve the issue.

Local management and all of the staff are great but they have no power to get equipment fixed or replaced, period. I have no idea if the people who wrote glowing 5 star reviews for this gym and the “state of the art” equipment were compensated somehow because I am honestly not sure we go to the same gym. Maybe they’ve never been to a nicer gym.If you’re looking for a new gym and can go elsewhere, I advise you to. If you come tour here, please come in the evening if that’s when you’ll be trying to work out, and pay close attention to the equipment you’ll be paying for, and actually test the integrity of the equipment and notice most of it is rusty(see the other reviews mentioning this), loose parts, and many machines no longer get a proper/full range of motion and frequently break. I also joined like 1.5 years ago because there seemed to be adequate Stairmasters (8) only 5 have ever been in working order and the others barely work, they are extremely old and rickety and often break down as well. 99% of the time only 4 stairmasters work. If serious cardio on stairs is important to you, and you come after 5 pm, you will likely never get one. This gym is extremely crowded because it’s the only one left in this part of Gaithersburg , if I had to only come at evening/night I would never be able to get a workout in. If you want classes or pool, this is probably best for that because I don’t think they care about anything else here. I hate leaving bad reviews but MANY of us here have complained extensively about broken equipment and the stairmasters,to no avail. I have belonged to Golds, Onelife, PF, and even YMCA’s and this is the worst gym I’ve ever belonged to in terms of what I pay per month versus what I get. I feel like I’m getting screwed and am currently looking for a new gym but for right now with my schedule,I have to make this work. Below is a pic of the “out of order” stairs that have been this way probably at least 6-8 months, possibly longer I’ve lost track.

I enjoy coming to my local gym. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the gym has everything I need. I’m not a fan of two leveled gyms which may sound ironic complaining about moving around too much at the gym lol but they’ve done pretty well with the layout. You don’t necessarily have to go upstairs unless it’s a cardio day and you’re not stuck jumping back-and-forth from each floor.

This is a fraud and convoluted gym organization which is harassing consumers by deliberate gym membership charges to the consumers. We should all be taking action against deliberately made difficult membership cancellation process where they harass consumers. We should file complaint under "Unfair trade practices" in the consumer court for deliberate membership charges. I went to their gym in person twice by the end of October 2024 to cancel my gym membership and I also emailed them same day to cancel my membership in immediate effect. But still they have kept my gym membership active till December 2024. I made them very clear that I want my gym membership to be cancelled with immediate effect. They do not have written process with audit trail records online and even if you go in person no audit trail membership record cancellation is shared with the customer which is clearly a breach of business/trade conduct under "Unfair trade practices" which can be challenged in the Consumer Courts.

Worst GYM what soever.
LA Fitness cares only about money and not about the customers.
LA Fitness, Personal training program sucks. Even after completion of 6 month with personal trainer, I stopped by and talked with the manager in July, and he told me my training will end in August. In September, LA Fitness, withdrawal money ($400.00) from your account. When asked for the money to be returned, they give you a run around from the manager to the accounts representative in some corporate office.
LA Fitness, I hope you get rich from the money you withdrawal from my account without my permission.
Not only that, the second personal trainer that was assigned to me was very unreliable.
My missed classes up to 6 were never made up.

Nice gym. Clientele was chill. Machines are in good shape. Weights are in good shape, unlike the Silver Spring or the thrashed Wheaton Mall location. Both have anchient equipment, Wheaton being way worse.. They have a guy picking up the weights, so you always have them ready... man, the guy is an incredible hard worker. Wish LA Fitness took equal care of their gyms. The Rockville location that closed, the Rio location, and this Clopper location are all nice. They gyms in Wheaton and Silver Spring are no comparison. I wonder why LA Fitness treats members in some zip codes like they don't deserve nice things. Membership prices are the same, so don't understand why you get less.

I love the LA Fitness in QO!!! I want to say thank you Gisela Romero on motivating me to start this journey, the tour around the gym definitely did it for me especially after seeing the jacuzzi. Unbelievable but for the very fisrt time in my whole life I saw Rust on treadmills and eleptical trainers and bikes!!!
All of them were rusty and so many broken and even didn't work.
They seem dirty too

I really liked going to this gym…..I enjoyed the group classes and all that. However the staff made me mad and I had to cancel my membership.
I went to the gym IN PERSON and I told the guy in the from that my sister, my nephew and my son are both out of town for the summer, so I wanted to put their membership on hold. I literally repeated myself 3 times. I went to my car, came back to confirm that that memberships for the 3 people have been put on hold and he said yes. A few weeks later my account was charged for the full balance with an exception of 1. I called for an explanation and I was actually met with an attitude. I was at work and I put it on speaker for my colleague to hear, cuz I wanted to make sure I wasn’t tripping, because why are yall mad at me for YOUR mistake?
At first they tried to call me a liar, that I never came in to put it on hold. I told them to check their camera system and they would see me standing there in the front talking to the guy. Then eventually they said ok, the system looks like I put 1 person on hold.
Now why will I put 1 person on hold, when I know 3 people left for the summer and they all left TOGETHER! But I’ll come in and say put one on hold and leave the rest? Make it make sense.
All they kept saying was “well there’s nothing we can do, we can just put it on hold moving forward” there was a lot they could have done, but chose not to.
Why should I be charged for a service that was not rendered???? What I was expecting them to say is they wouldn’t charge me for the next month, since they already charged me for this month for no reason, but that’s not what happened.
Then when I went in to cancel the whole membership. The lady manager there had an attitude. No apology for THEIR mistakes. They were acting like I did something wrong.
Good Customer service is lacking at this location. I’m not sure if it’s all the LA locations or just this one.

Horrible team management, customer service is non existent when it comes to handling phone calls. Hanging up calls when assuming a certain language is to be spoken. Bilingual or not correct your self when handling customers better. And also do not make assumptions based on your own local population when making calls. Horrible service by this club team
