We have been members since this location opened. Though onsite management try, corporate apparently doesn’t care about this place. Tonight there is NO hot water for showers, urinals and water sensors don’t work and equipment isn’t maintained so eventually things break and take months to be repaired. If it wasn’t so convenient, we would change gyms

Positive: the gym is huge with plenty of cardio equipment and weights. I never have to wait for a machine and the staff has always been very friendly.

Cons: everything is ALWAYS dirty. I see people appearing to clean but no, locker rooms and equipment are constantly gross. However, the biggest issue is the people. This gym must attract the worst of society. IF and it’s a big IF they wipe the equipment they will just drop the paper towel on the ground. Further, people never put equipment away. You will find dumbbells everywhere except where they belong. I hate to blame the club for these horrible people but it’s really up to management to address. The picture is from 6AM. Literally watched a guy leave multiple weight to go to treadmill without a care in the world!

i’ve been a member for 2 years and i noticed a difference when the new general manager iggy started working. beforehand the gym was unorganized and it would take me 10-15 minutes to find a 10 pound dumbbell. I’ve seen him up there putting weights back and organizing the dumbell section. i’m writing this because he has went up to me and thanked me for putting my weights back. very nice and friendly and also showed me a new variation that helps me with my rdl form.

Large gym that would be generally good, but the locker rooms are frequently dirty. Another problem is poorly maintained equipment. Water fountains and soap dispensers are often broken. Despite having lots of equipment, most of the rowing machines do not work. It is not uncommon for various equipment to be out of service. I am member out of convenience because of the location. It has proven to be adequate.

The location, parking, and square footage is great. Above all I would prefer a clean environment. This gym desperately needs a janitor or manager who takes cleanliness and sanitation seriously. At any given day or time you’ll see piles of dirt and dust around machines, empty wipe stations and members not sanitizing equipment after usage. Use at your own risk is honestly what you’re doing. Hoping to not catch any contagious diseases from unsanitary equipment. The Whitemarsh location may have been old and outdated, but it was clean.

La fitness Towson review

I work a very physical job early in the morning. On my mid-week days off I come to LA fitness in Towson to use the hot tub/spa for my knees. Unfortunately on some days the Spa is turned off the previous night by using the emergency shut off. When they do that instead just turning it off by the “time knob” the water heater is shut off. So a 5am in the morning the water in the spa is lukewarm and takes an hour to get hot…. using the emergency shut off can’t be safe!! Also it is a bit lazy to not take four more steps to the knob to shut down the spa properly. I have spoken to managers and employees many times about this. But it still happens regularly. I really hate complaining…. But the spa is why I choose this gym. I would change my review if this issue is resolved. 8 months is long time.

Great place, staff is awesome and always clean. I'm really happy you instituted a policy to suggest to clients about picking up after themselves and helping to keep gym organized. I've been going to the gym consistently for 20 years and I'm always appalled at how disrespectful it is for people to just leave weights wherever or leave 10 plates stacked on the leg press after they stacked them. Or worse weights in wrong location and you have to walk around and look for stuff, super annoying. I'm more impressed when folks clean up after themselves rather than how much they can lift. An okay gym. I go here because the location is convenient, but it undeniably needs an upgrade. I mostly use cardio equipment/occasionally the rowing machines, and all of them feel like they needed to be replaced 5 years ago. It all feels threadbare, for lack of a better description - the cords on the treadmills are for pre-lightning-cable iPhones, the rubber is disintegrating off everything, and a deep clean wouldn’t go amiss. That said, I still go and manage to get a good workout in, I just wish it was a more enjoyable experience.

The front staff is rude to customers. Specifically the short black man who has a new York or pilly accent. He works there in the afternoon/evenings. Very aggressive when I came in to validate my parking after work that I forgot to do when I came in for my 7am work out. I am a member and have been for years. SOME of your staff need better customer service training. The black lady that's there in the early morning was lovely and always is.

I love L.a.fittness! My forever happy place!It's spacious ,clean has a nice Olympic size pool and spa ,saunas in both ladies and men's locker rooms ,offers swimming classes for the kiddos by British swim club.nice windows so you don't feel like your in a cave .they have plenty of cardio machine racquetball, basketball , probably not so many actual classes but they do offer them but I generally don't do them but for me it's perfect!Also free parking in garage with your validated ticket in club .

I moved to Towson from Owings Mills 1/24. The whirlpool is a plus. However, this gym has cleanliness issues and the music is OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD in the locker room. OMG just want to go in and not have a headache from that music after a stressful workday. If that improves I would give another star for sure.
At the ninth month mark now, I am updating my review. It seems that the music usually is much more tolerable.
The pool is the reason I go to the gym as I swim 50 laps at least 3 x week. Lately, the pool is dirty with several things laying on the bottom. I was swimming through drifting hair balls twice this week. They have not been routinely vacuming the pool. I got very angry about it today on 9/29/24 and complained to the front desk.
Also, people just stand in the pool not swimming or, excercising, which makes it hard to get a lane and swim laps. Today there was two groups standing in two of the lanes. The pool is for swimming in right?
I would suggest to please post some curtesy rules. There are more and more people here who don't seem to know how to be polite and allow a lap swimmer a clear lane. I actually had a young woman stop me during a swim to complain that I splashed her. I still can't get over the fact that she was dead serious. I just want to swim my laps and go home. I will continue to update my review as time goes by.

I would give this location five stars but trying to figure out where the garage entrance was sent me! It was sooooooo frustrating. None of the signs in the parking garage accurately tell you how to get to LA Fitness. The signs say the retail shops are on levels 1,2 and 3. And there's a random sign on one of the levels that says LA fitness is on level 3. So I parked on 3A but I still had to get on the elevator and press the button for every single floor to find it. And guess what level it was actually on....6! But get this, you have to choose the correct elevator... there's two 🙄 I want to say it was on the right side of the garage but idek if that's right. I've been going to this gym for about 4 months now. It's ok, however I've had some bad experiences there. Such as an entire month where the suama was dangerously hot, like above 200 degrees, but it was never closed and there was never a sign on the door for warning, I even burned my throat tryna breath in there because I was unaware at the time. There was also another incident that happened more recently where the showers were dirty with hair filled drains on a Wednesday came back on a Saturday and that same exact hair was still there, gross. Some of the lights do not work in the shower area providing a creepy ambiance. The incident that took the cake for me was the roach I saw in the women's locker room casually crawling across the lockers. So I grabbed my things and left that day, I didn't want to bring any critters home. From talking casually with some of the guest I noticed that people from other la fitness locations come to the Towson location because it's nicer but it is starting to decline.

Well, when I first rated this gym a few years back, it was 5 stars but since then the staff has completely changed over. Much younger than before, Towson university students I suspect. Now It feels a little like high school when walking in the front door, signing in and dealing with the staff. The weird looks like I’m being judged, the laughter when i walk away and turn back, seeing them looking at me.

I’m not much of a social guy at the gym and can come off as awkward, I’ll admit. That might contribute to the vibe I’m getting. Either way, I’m not comfortable with it. I ended up canceling my membership and now going only until it expires.

I would recommend the YMCA on in Towson over this particular LA Fitness. I did a test trial there and the staff are older and much more positive

I got my first LA Fitness membership and went to this gym one time and I'm ready to cancel my membership and demand a refund.

First, the amenities you pay for are basically useless. The sauna is packed to the brim (and from other reviews isn't working half the time) so can't use that. All the classes (all 3 of them they offer a various times throughout the week) are completely full from now until the end of the calendar. It must be some kind of race to reserve a spot. I'm paying all this money for a CLEAN gym in which I can use the amenities at.

Second, the facility was VERY old looking and not kept up well. The floors and machines were not in good condition and dirty. Albeit, the lockers in the Women's locker room were new the rest of the locker room was dirty. I didn't feel comfortable using the toilets or the showers.

Third, the location just attracts a lot of things that are not great to workout in. Mostly, the place is filled with college students, it's basically the hang out. So now you have people just hanging out, staring at you while you're working out. Additionally, girls were just hanging out in the locker room, running around, joking, yelling. Who wants to get undressed and take a shower with people just sitting around making awkward eye contact.

Unfortunately, this entire area is a desert on decent gyms, or really any gyms at all. Which is why they are able to keep such terrible facilities and still maintain a high membership count. Because what other options are there. But at this point I could just invest in a home gym I could actually use instead of paying all this money to barely use a dirty facility.

The bathroom was dirty, no toilet paper and it could not flush the garbage over flowed and trash was all over the floor in the women’s locker. Def a part on other customers not using common sense and no body cleaning the facility throughout the day. The sauna has not been working for well over a month and 3 out of 5 toilets are always backed up and overflowing onto the ground. Clips have been broken off the cable machines and most cables have exposed wires so you can’t even use about 3 different cables. Leather on most of the upper body/arm machines is breaking apart. I get this is normal wear and tear of a gym but it takes forever to get things fixed. Multiple people I know that go here and myself are defiantly not coming back after coming here for multiple years.

This would be a great gym if the equipment was taken care of properly. After two months of going to this gym and bring these issues to the staff’s attention, there are still pieces of equipment that have yet to be repaired. There are exposed cable wires that my partner cut himself on. Many cable stations have one or both caribiners rusted shut so you either cannot attach any handles or cannot switch out the handles. One functional trainer has old, worn out handles that are permanently attached. That machine is extremely versatile but unfortunately its “functionality” is limited because of these handles. Selectorized equipment still has worn off labels or is missing the small increment weights altogether. The squat rack safety bars have exposed edges that have also cut our hands. This gym also puts little effort into encouraging members to sanitize equipment. There are only a few stations around the whole floor with paper towels and 75% of the time the cleaning solution is empty. I wish they would upgrade and provide sanitizing wipes conveniently located around the weight floor like many other reputable gyms. (Update: they did add a *few* stations with sanitizing wipes but they are only at a few spots in the gym and are very poor quality. They are usually dried out or empty.)

I love this LA Fitness in Towson very spacious very unique and the staff is very accommodating and they got basically everything there for my swimming pool to racquetball rooms the only downfall is the parking even though the parking is free if your LA Fitness member but do not lose your ticket in the gym or you will get charged basically a little bit more than what your membership is worth a month that is the big negative it happened to me when I lost my parking ticket and I told them I'm a LA Fitness member but it didn't matter that's the only reason this rating got three stars for me

I’ve been going to this gym for several years now and am consistently impressed by the levels of maintenance and amount of space and equipment provided. For the location and price it is definitely one if the best options around! The community is great and the staff are also all very friendly and responsive to suggestions.

Nice gym, a lot of equipment. One basketball court which is usually overcrowded, but fun when you can get in and out some shots up. Sauna in the locker room. Parking garage w/ validated parking. My employer offers discount.

I usually don't like leaving reviews but today it was very disrespectful it left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm the type of person that doesn't take hospitality lightly and today is one of the examples of why I hate customer service sometimes. Even if I didn't have the money I would never get the membership because the manager was truly disrespectful and forcing things on my friends and I. We called ahead and talked to an employee that said we could come and when we got there he was so rude. I would never go back in there because that's crazy.

I've decided to cancel my membership here. Just like the other LA Fitness, I just couldn't continue to deal with the filth. I tried.

I had a bad experience with my last LaFitness so I was not so sure if this was going to be a good experience. It was. I had a hard time determining the entrance. I called the number, like someone had suggested in a review, and the guy was able to walk me through the direction patiently.

I was surprised that they had a British Swim school on site. I was able to sign up and take swim lessons the same day.

It's only been one session, but I like it.

I wanted to bring someone else on board for LA Fitness Towson. Person was extremely forceful and it was disgusting how he treated us. At one point slamming his hand down when someone was speaking and it wasn’t agreeing with what he wanted.

I saw a three day pass on another desk and was reading it in front of him and he was accusing me of trying to steal it. If I was trying to steal it I would not have shown him.

I cannot believe how I was treated and I have been going to la fitness for years. Glad I have the white marsh LA Fitness.

They will kidnap your card and keep charging you even you quit weeks ago. Nobody solved the problem. Only way to go is canceling your card. The WORST gym with TERRIBLE front desk ever.

I cannot speak for the gym yet, so I'll talk about my interaction with Jon. Our dialogue was not smooth at the start; we came in it with different ideas. I was getting turned off, but on his part, from my perspective, he was keeping it professional and showing benefit of different options. Almost to a fault, a salesman at his best pitch but respectful of limits.

I went in wanting a tour and nothing else and left with a beautiful membership. Jon deserves a shout-out for aiding in the changing of my mind.

Nice facility could be cleaner in pool hardware which is covered in rust now and getting worst. Wemone should be advised to wear appropriate swim suits not beach wear i.e., thongs, skimpy bikis this is a gym not the beach "some men" may stare or comment. No videoing in gym should be allowed.

I have left messages with the front desk for the manager to call me and even sent an email to corporate about the decline in equipment. Some of the items were broken before the pandemic and have only gotten worse.

This gym is average to above average. It’s pretty good by LA Fit standards though, especially compared to other locations in the area (looking at you Arbutus). You get what you pay for and at $30 a month, it’s not a bad deal. I have been going here for over 5 years now and I have seen probably a dozen or more managers. The problems are always the same: broken machines that take months to be repaired, empty paper towel dispensers, empty soap bottles in the bathroom / soap bottles filled with cleaning detergent instead of hand soap, and just a general lack of cleanliness. It could definitely be worse but it could also definitely be better.

Towson La fitness needs to step up ! Just visited the one on Lombard st and it’s 10x better ! I Been going to Towson La fitness for years and there are so many machines are out of order since I started coming here! And the locker rooms are disgusting and I never go in there unless I have too ! The pool smells like pee from “British kids swimming “ class it’s so nasty ! You can smell it from the treadmill and step master. All the machines to barbells needs updated. All the cardio machines also needs updated as well. I will be going to the Lombard st La fitness from now on til Towson La fitness steps up their game !

Amazing gym. Went there for the trial and was truly impressed by the facility. Front desk staff was helpful and excited to get you started. Unfortunately I had to cancel the membership which was almost an issue. Whem I arrived I was assured I would be able to cancel the membership over the phone before I was charged, however, when I tried to call they said I would have to come I in which wasn't a possibility for me due to covid quarantine. After emailing the support staff they did cancel the subscription before my account was charged. Gym is awesome but the whole subscription thing was a bit of a hassle.
