Things are always broken in this gym! 200/month doesn’t even worth 100!
They are always fixing something because something is always out of order especially the spa!

Amazing Experience at Life Time Fitness!

This place is spotless seriously one of the cleanest gyms I’ve ever been to. The spa area is beautiful, relaxing, and the whole experience felt first-class. I got a massage from Manijeh, and she was absolutely incredible. Super professional, friendly, and really knows what she’s doing.

If you’re thinking about treating yourself, I 100% recommend booking a massage with Manijeh. You’ll leave feeling brand new!

Life Time is one of the best gyms I have ever been a member of. It is spacious, a plethora of equipment, classes that actually work you out (Love ALPHA Conditioning), a cafe that serves healthy and delicious foods/drinks, the nicest staff and friendly members. I could go on and on.. I enjoy working out there. I go 5-6 days a week and enjoy the physical interaction.

I joined this gym 10 years ago at $79/month and was a loyal member for about 6 years. Due to relocation I placed the membership on hold for $25/month for about 3 years (I know what a waste!) and when I returned so much had changed. My price went up even though I was being “grandfathered”. Then they were asking for an ADDITIONAL $75/family member (we are a family of 5 now) to use the pool in the summer!! My mind was blow and I ended up canceling the membership. I recently called them to possibly rejoin and see how much a family membership would cost and it’s literally almost tripled in price! $189 for me, $289 to include my husband and $40 per child. So it’s over $400/month now for our family. Despite being able to afford it, I just can’t wrap my mind around paying this much for a gym membership.

****EDIT**** they recently sent me an email inquiring my interests in rejoining, stating their summer pool fee is now $150/adult and $100/child for the summer. So that’s an additional $600/year for my family, which is almost TWICE what they were asking for just last year. This would be an additional cost on top of $400/month gym membership.

The people are so nice and friendly!! From Jon and May at the front desk ensuring they meet all your needs and greeting you with a smile, to John in Pilates keeping a close eye on your forum to prevent injury, to personal trainer JP going above and beyond in Dynamic Stretch and helping me achieve my workout goals. My nephew attended the summer camp program this year and he was always eager to be dropped off because he knew he was going to have a great time. I love my experience at this gym and highly recommend it to anyone in the area. My whole family goes here and there’s something for everyone!

I had a membership for a year until I cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. Now that I’m able to rejoin, I went back thinking it’d be the same. But the VERY FIRST interaction I’ve had on both occasions is with some young guy with blonde facial hair at the front desk (Ethan? Evan?) and he’s SO unprofessional and rude. It made me uncomfortable, like I was an inconvenience to him. He talked to me like I did him wrong in another life or like I wasn’t worth any sense of courtesy. My second interaction was the same but this time he took another customer behind me and I stood there waiting for 5 minutes just for him to look me up. No acknowledgment, no apologies, just treated me like an after thought.

This experience has made me reconsider joining, which is a shame because I LOVE the group classes with Brian and this gym has EVERYTHING. But that guy at the front was so horrible, I don’t wanna give LT my money if this is the service you get for $200/mo.

Dear Life Time Management,

I have been a proud and loyal member of Life Time Columbia for the past 17 years. Unfortunately, my recent experience at the club was extremely disappointing and does not reflect the level of service I have come to expect.

Recently, I attempted to use a guest pass to bring in a friend who is interested in joining Life Time. I simply wanted to introduce him to the club with a quick tour so he could see the facility before making his decision to sign up. Instead, the manager on duty (a bald gentleman with glasses) refused to honor the guest pass and insisted that my guest would need to pay for a full day pass—even though it was only for a brief walk-through.

This approach makes no sense, as I was actively trying to bring in a potential new member. Rather than being welcoming and supportive, the manager created an unnecessary barrier and left both me and my guest with a very negative impression of the club. His lack of flexibility, poor judgment, and dismissive customer service skills are unacceptable.

I strongly urge Life Time to address this issue. As a long-time member, I expect better treatment and a more customer-focused approach—especially when I am helping introduce new people to the club.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope to see improvements in how guest passes and prospective members are handled moving forward.

Sincerely,

I went to the pool yesterday. Arrived too the pool deck at 3:08pm. I was told that the pool deck would be closing at 4:00pm for a "private event" at 5:00pm. I asked when guests were notified of this, the employee said this morning. Seriously an email on Saturday morning? Of course I missed it and didn't see the email. Even the employee admitted that it was a last minute email. So I swam and left around 3:40pm. Then I decide to check my email and Lifetime app and I see that the pool was going to repoen at 6:00pm for what was NOT a private event but rather an event that any Lifetime member could register for and there was still 33 spots available. I do not understand why he could not have simply explained the event and told us we could register to contiuing swimming into the evening.

Another concern with LT is the ridiculous guest policy. Unfortunately me and my family work jobs and couldn't use a single one of our guest passes because having friends over for a pool day M-Thu is out of the ordinary for the average working person.

Additionally, the pool during the weekday during evening hours can get a little hectic with swim lessons. One time I was swimming in a lane and an employee asked if they could use my lane for a private swim lesson with a child. I said no and they went inside. I am not sure why they ask paying guests who mid-swim if they can use their lane, if the alternative for them is simply walking in to the numerous lanes inside.

Also, it can be quite uncomfortable and chaotic when staff are bringing in the summer camp children into the locker room. These moments were often disruptive to the otherwise private and peaceful lockeroom environment. I think it is strange to bring children into a locker room where grown adult women are changing and sometimes fully nude. I don't understand why the family lockeroom or pool deck bathroom is not utilized for the camp.

BIGGEST PRO OF THIS LOCATION: the women who work so hard to keep the gym and lockeroom clean are so amazing. This team of women is 100% what sets this location apart from other locations. I see them cleaning with such care and attention to detail. This crew is worthy of 5/5 stars, they seriously work so hard and are fantastic!

Ive been a lifetime member for over 10 years. This location is mid compared to the others i Maryland and that ive been to throughout the country. This has to be one of the lower tier lifetimes because I know for a fact you cant get access to some of the premier locations like downtown chicago and phipps mall atlanta.

Bathroom amenities are trash, cleanliness is subpar, gym equipment isnt reracked appropriately. Unfortunately this is the closest location to where my family resides in Maryland so its most convenient to access. When i have time to kill i usually just travel 30-45 mins to a different location just for a better experience

I used to be a member a while ago, and I was thinking about rejoining. I went in today for a quick tour to see if anything has changed before I rejoined. I was told I would have to be escorted, which I totally understand, but they would not give me the tour until I gave them my phone number. I explained to them that I don't mind given my name, etc., but I didn't want to give them my phone number because the last time I did, they called incessantly. They would not give me a tour without me giving them my phone number. Too bad. They lost my business.

Been a lever for a few months and brought guests in the past with new issues. Today when I can with two out of town family members they wanted to charge me $50 each plus $40 additional for pool access! When I asked why couldn’t I use the free passes they said fri-sun is now summer hours (it’s still spring). So they wanted me to pay $180 to bring two guests on for an hour workout! When I politely asked for reconsideration they just said that’s the policy. A policy that was news to me as I never received any communication to the fact. Needless to say I’m canceling the membership. Absolutely insane. I’d understand if they said it was $20 for a “summer guest” day pass but $50-$90!

Working with Wanda has been a game-changer! She’s incredibly caring, motivational, and easy to connect with. What I really appreciate is her attention to detail—she notices the little things that make a big difference in my progress. Each session feels personalized and purposeful, and her positive energy keeps me locked in even on tough days. I’m still training with her, and I can already see the results. She tailored a workout and meal plan specific to my goals. If you’re thinking about hiring a trainer and want REAL RESULTS, I highly recommend giving Wanda a shot—you’ll be in great hands! I have had multiple issues over the years ranging from problems at the salon ( wrong cut and color, not applying promised discounts) to my membership being incorrectly cancelled and most recently check-in issues for 12-13 years old who can't have app access or be checked in under parent app.

In addition, the atmosphere has changed. Alot more push to sell things, very loud music and speaker phones on main floor, and many classes have fees not included in the membership now. The main floor areas and much of the work areas are taken up by classes and it is difficult to workout around so many different classes taking up most of the space and all of the noise/loud music.

They did have a good masseuse and this was a good option when my children were very young. At that point in time, 3-4 years ago, it was $15 per child but it has raised to over $40 per child now and they have no real activities for children aged 11-17. No longer a member.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Lifetime Spa for partial highlights and a full-service haircut, which included a wash, trim, and blowout. From the moment I arrived, I was thoroughly impressed with the pristine cleanliness and sophisticated atmosphere of the spa. It’s clear that under Jackie’s management, the attention to detail and commitment to excellence are top priorities.

Tatyana provided an exceptional consultation, where her professionalism and warm personality made me feel completely at ease. Her expertise and skill are evident in the stunning results, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with my new look. The kindness and care from both Tatyana and Jackie throughout the entire experience were remarkable.

Despite traveling over 40 minutes, the quality of service made the trip more than worth it. I highly recommend fellow club members take advantage of the spa’s services – you will leave feeling refreshed,

This gym has been great - very clean and that staff is attentive. The classes are great (if you use them) and the equipment is in good shape. The outdoor pool is excellent during the summer. Although It does get crowded with kids in the evenings. They just spent a good amount of money on refreshing equipment, including flooring upstairs, new pool chairs, and more. That being said, the price went up too - by a lot - which hopefully will keep the evening crowd down a bit, but does make you wonder if it is still worth it at times.

I started pickleball here a while back and there's good and bad. Brandon is a great person and willing to play with others who aren't as good. He genuinely seems to have fun and teaches others well. The rest of the team are a bit cliquey. Don't get me wrong they're awesome people and my interaction has always been positive but they will never play with anyone other than their group, don't play with others who aren't as good and just act like the top dogs. Other sport pros always are open to playing with others and meeting new people but here they act like there's a force field around them and you have to be good to play with them. Just not a good or professional look. Great players with a bit of maturing and "learning how to be a pro" to do

Mainly, they are very aggressive and not customer friendly at that front desk or gym…there is need for a culture change. I find it very disappointing that they don't take negative feedback well, they are quick to push back on any request or have the men staffer as the desk to intimidate from questions. I find that the non-availability of disabled parking spaces is utilized by the luxury vehicles who don’t have the necessary permits. There are no enforcement and I watch the folks who are disabled and need the spaces struggle to make it to the building. Also, currently it appears they are doing less sanitization but the mostly cost is extremely high. I have been out with COVID for three weeks. I think if a member has missed 2-3 weeks, they should be interested enough to inquire if the member if Okay...but i guess it's all about the money.

As an establishment that caters to families and children, it is essential that you maintain a positive and respectful environment, especially in the vicinity of the kids swimming area. significant portion of your staff has displayed an attitude that is not conducive to the well-being of your patrons.
You should emphasize the importance of treating everyone with the utmost respect and professionalism, regardless of their socioeconomic status. Every individual deserves to be treated with kindness and courtesy, and it is your responsibility to ensure that this standard is upheld at all times.

It is imperative that all staff members undergo training to cultivate a culture of respect and empathy. I was never notified of this until the other mom sought me out and spoke to me. Tara was cruel and lacked general communicating skills when I asked for an explanation, and certainly belongs NO WHERE near anyone’s child. We spoke with the manager who stated all they could do was refund the fee but unclear if any real action was taken to educate and prevent such abuse from occurring again.

I appreciate you sauna not smelling like musty wood rot moldy. Thank You for the sign advising people to not work out in the sauna. May I politely suggest that you perhaps add another addendum that people please sit on a towel if they go in sopping wet from the pool. I've seen many other clubs that have had their saunas completely ruined due the fact most members are not aware that the wood is not treated (which is a good thing) However due to this the saunas are more prone to wood rot and I know that the renovations are not cheap and only happen typically once ever few years. Sanding down the wood can help. I know that typically only happens once ever 6 months or so and only if the ops team is staying on top of things. Thank You for being freshener than North Raleigh, Downtown Austin, Birmingham AL, one of the coins in Ohio and Boca Raton Florida that was eventually resolved. Oh and I appreciate the fact that your shower drains do not smell like a rotten sewer and have reports of mold like the club in Carey North Carolina. Since corporate will typically not listen to such concern I suppose I will politely post on here as a reminder of what clubs need a little more attention. Fun fact I was trained by OSHA while in the Military and have mold allergies quite severely and have become an expert on the subject matter. So I am always doing free quality assurance inspections for your clubs at a national level. You know I have been to almost all of them and can tell when something is amiss. FYI other Google reviews will typically let you know as well, since I don't want to sound too much like the guy with a clipboard. I'm aware routine upkeep does happen yet certain regions seem to have more of a problem than other oh also Orlando sauna was really bad for about 3 years from people going in there soaking yet. So please get with your Regional people about (speaking to the corporate in Minnesota) this way you can keep high marks and better retention rates.

It really makes it hard for the high-school and college students who are off for the summer. I also think it’s pretty absurd you have to pay a 65$ fee to play pickle ball. Complete money grab in my opinion.

Additionally, it’s crazy you have to pay a 150$ fee to access the outdoor pool. When I asked why, they said “it’s to limit the amount of people”. There’s no logic behind that. Every member should have access to the outdoor pool.

A LOT of people agree with everything I’ve just said.

So first LTA decided to rip up one of the basketball courts for a pickleball court. I don't know who plays pickleball but either way I was okay with that. Fast forward to this summer and the basketball court is closed from 6:30 am - 6:30 pm, Monday - Friday. This is a DISGRACE to me and all of the loyal basketball players who attend Lifetime. Now I can't even play basketball with my friends or brothers. Hopefully Lifetime reconsiders their ignorant decision to alienate their loyal basketball players!

I used to come to Lifetime - Columbia as if I lived there! It was open 24/7 back then. Monthly rate used to be $95; then 125. I’m thinking of coming back to reach my fitness goals but monthly rate is like $179 and yet unaccessible 24/7. I’m one of those whose life revolves on night shifts! I would probably come back if they could go back to the 24/7 operation.

The additional $60 fee is ridiculous to use the pickleball courts. Especially after taking away one of the basketball courts to create. Technically members only have a fraction of a basketball court to use since it cannot be used when the court is taken away for birthday parties. I recently picked up pickle ball out of necessity due to the sole basketball court being occupied. To my surprise I liked it... Yesterday, I was blindsided by this $60 additional monthly fee to upgrade my membership to get access to the courts that were free.

Fees went up almost 100% from when i joined in 2015, service hours went down (not 24hrs), additional fees to use community facilities ( pool, pickleball, exercise classes..etc), and employee moral has taken a huge hit.

I am one more corporate change away from terminating membership. Its hard for me to continue to recommend the gym to family and friends due to the uncertainty of membership fees and the services that accompany a membership.

Our LFGym turned BB courts into pickleball courts recently. So much fun!
Our family loved this!
Fast forward to today when they excluded use of the new pickleball court unless I pay $60
more a month. Hubbabawha? I am already paying ...$270 a month.
$329 to play pickleball. Lol.

Love the staff but can’t stand the lack of 24 hour availability for how expensive it is. Been saying this for years, will keep saying it in the hopes management goes back to the previous hours. Heard this complaint from nearly every member I know and I’ve been going there for about 5 years now. Recently I’ve noticed that more and more “regulars” are leaving for less expensive gyms who offer far better value and 24 hour availability. Thinking of doing the same, for the aforementioned reasons.

*UPDATE*

Wow. They are now raising the rates AGAIN, charging $130-180 for members (based on if you’ve been grandfathered in for a lower rate). Still with limited hours. Still with tons of constantly out of order equipment. Still with only two guest passes per month (with a 6 month block on reusing for the same guest). Also, $40 a day for a non-member to use the gym. Insanity.

Charging more and offering less. This is a poor business model and is the icing on the cake for me. The value does not exist here any longer, particularly not for individual members who primarily come to lift weights and perform cardio. Will be looking at other gyms in the area ASAP.

Such a shame. Been a member for 6 years.

I used this gym as a guest pass a few weeks ago and considered a membership... But at $179 a month it's a hard pass for me.

Sure, the pickleball court addition is nice, but I can spend $12-20 for a small gym membership and then just pay for the things I want to do at other establishments. I rejoined my old gym for $12... That's a full year for less than the price of one month here. They have all the equipment I need for a full workout and as long as it's a nice day I can go to the park for tennis, basketball, or whatever.

At the end of the day, this gym is right for you if you plan to use an overwhelming amount of the amenities to justify the cost, or you just don't care about money at all, then it's great.

It's by far the nicest and most modern facility in the area and it's not close... But that cost is simply outrageous. The reason they provided to me for the price hike is that they are a 'signature' club and you can now use other clubs if you'd like... But this isn't like planet fitness or other major chains. There isn't a convenient gym location every 15 miles, So that reason for raising the price is pretty bad.

MASSIVE SCAM. Do not join unless you want
to be a lifetime member. They go far out of there way to make it hard to leave. Example? Part of
trying to leave is having to write a physical letter to mail to them. It takes 5 mins to join and is pretty up to date. That is one of the obstacles to getting rid of the membership.

What other reason then to drag out payments and complicate things for people(ruining their experience with gyms) would there be for that? This company only cares about your money. Staff was nice though. Doesn’t change much.

We called ahead of time and specifically asked if they have a sauna because we wanted a day pass. We even asked in person first thing where the sauna was after paying $50 each…..for a sauna. Well guess what isn’t open all day on this specific day…..the sauna if that wasn’t obvious. Basically wasted $100 unless we stay until 4pm which is 4 hours away lol. The hot tub has about 10 people and the other one is closed for some reason as well.

Love that they offer Hydrafacials at their spa! One stop shop for me to get everything I love done- my hair color, waxing, nails, facials, massages and a little restaurant that has great options! Highly recommend all the staff at the spa and salon here! Love that they sell Kerastase products too! (You can access the whole facility the day of your appointment, so that's a nice perk too if you're not a member!) The gym floor seems to have all the best equipment and everything I need! I love the signature classes, and the wide array of classes to pick from.

The only reason I go to this place is for the pool. Staff is nice, but the patrons are horrible. You have patrons parking in staff parking. Don't think about parking your motorcycle in motorcycle parking, those are for cars. People hold multiple machines or just sit on them while playing on their phones. Tell the staff and nothing is done.

Here's why only 3 stars. It's not a gym, so it should be rated for what it is. It's a recreational club. The recreational club gets 4 STARS! The gym portion of the club gets 3 stars on lack of equipment. There is a ton of equipment. Mostly older outdated equipment, and only one of each, so you find yourself waiting for use. With that much room, they could have 2 or 3 of the same equipment, new, more modernized, which would speed up time of use, making the gym more streamlined and productive.
One incident in Colombia, MD, with an unfriendly concierge, takes away a star as well.
All this said, the pool, basketball court, pickleball court, hot tub, locker rooms, sauna, top notch!! 5 stars !!
Note: I am not a member. However, visiting gyms, seeking a new home gym. I am a gymrat, so... trust the gym review! Currently member at Vida in DC.

Terribly upset about the closure of the basketball court , with one side closed I have to wait an absurd amount of time to get my exercise in I usally only play on the half courts as I don’t run like I used to . It's a pretty clean facility, employees have been nice, but I just experienced a life cafe member with their phone live video chatting their boyfriend/male friend in the women's locker room. She was sitting in the lounge in the locker room with her back towards me as I'm dressing after getting out of the shower. Pretty sure I gave whomever it was on her phone a show. Not.ok!!!! Especially when the policy is no recording devices in the locker rooms. 🙄 She eventually turned around after realizing what was happening but how do I know she didn't just switch the camera view??? If the employees don't abide by the policies, why does anyone else need to? I feel violated and unsafe....This is Totally unprofessional and it NEEDS to be dealt with.

I've been going to this gym at this particular location for the longest time, and it's still the best gym around Columbia, MD. I do have to admit that I'd gone to other gyms along with Life Time Columbia, but I always found myself coming back to it 100%. The membership fee is very expensive though as it seems to have gone up every so often, but I suppose you get what you pay for. Staff is always super friendly, especially Jovan, Hayden, Chris, and Eric from the front desk!! A big shout-out to them for always welcoming you and hyping you up for a good workout.
