I hope Joseph takes some time to reflect on how he interacts with visitors and handles these situations with greater professionalism in the future. I had no issue being turned away and fully respect the rules, but being spoken to disrespectfully and accused of using a fake ID was unnecessary and inappropriate. There was no reason to be condescending — we followed the rules and cooperated fully. I hope future guests are treated with the respect and courtesy they deserve.

Being honest, I love all the staff especially Kristen
unfortunately, today I can tell you the manager, Joseph was rude to my guest. She unfortunately was not able to come in as a guest l. I understand that he was just doing his job but he didn’t have to speak to her in a condescending tone and accuse her of using a fake ID all because she wanted to use a picture on her phone since she didn’t have the physical copy on her person. If he was uncomfortable with a picture of the id all he had to was state that and we would of course respect the rules. that was incredibly disrespectful and as a Lifetime member for 4+ years, I feel embarrassed now to bring any guest to this gym. so sad since I’ve been rocking with lifetime for such a long time ):

I toured this location today. It's beautiful and has a very calm atmosphere. Personally for me, that's not all that matters. It's always nice to be a part of a gym that has a good vibe. The staff here is amazing. Super friendly. Kristin gave me a tour today and she was very friendly and knowledgable, which honestly made me lean toward getting a membership. I wanted to check out the Gaithersburg location just to see what their window views looked like when on the treadmill, since I spend time in Gaithersburg as well, before I committed to a membership. I of course signed up after my Gaithersburg tour, but to be honest I'll probably be going to the Potomac location more. The Gaithersburg location is bigger, but the vibe at the Potomac location is beyond amazing in my opinion.

The quality of this Life Time is mid compared to the others, and I had a rude encounter with instructor Allison P in Surrender Yin. She passive-aggressively told the whole class I wasn't folding a blanket "correctly," not to mention she was on her phone when she was instructing. I would not recommend taking her class at all.

Facility/Facial/Nutrition Consultation

I’ve been a member here on and off for years. I’ve overheard other people as well saying they like the facility but the membership cost going up and up and up and the quality not improving and even getting worse with surrounding construction for years (outside the window of meditative yoga classes especially) is just outrageous. I have to say there is a snobbish attitude of a lot of the staff and not just the “Potomac people” that are the members but I can’t say I enjoyed going here enough to stay especially for the cost. Lots of disturbing news on tv and it would really break my peace of mind while working out with tvs everywhere and other members do not respect others peace and privacy while in the sauna/locker room and the gym staff doesn’t want to tell guests what to do so it really makes for an often uncomfortable and experience with people doing personal hygiene and playing things loudly on cell phones/taking calls/wearing sneakers in sauna etc. They’ve priced themselves out of the market for me especially with the annoyances. As a “facility” it has a fair amount of amenities, classes (could have a much better variety of times) and equipment but when you’re there often enough for the problems to be so frequent as well it’s just not worth it. Planet fitness is about 10minutes down the road for $25 a month with more peace, no tvs, and a great recovery lounge with the same massage beds and no competition over them.
** spa review: I also had a facial here once and the esthetician was so rough on my face, pressing down my nose entirely so I couldn’t breathe and created so much tension/bracing trying to resist her pressure and the pain. I even noticed trouble breathing though one nostril after for quite some time and read online about deviated septum’s from injuries! Not sure if that’s what happened but it’s still harder to breathe through the one side then it used to be even now 2 years later. I wasn’t sure if it was normal but then realized it was so bizarre and I’ll never go back to her again.
** also felt very hustled by the lazy nutrition coach. The free consultation was me talking and her saying okay great at then end and told me about pricing. She did get a month and a half out of me by charging me for 4 sessions at a time without telling me the second time I was really upset obviously and asked for the remaining two I didn’t want to use to be refunded. She also got me to purchase a supplement so she would get commission in store by walking me to the register when she said for a split second I could get a discount by buying it online (but I didn’t apply in person) and she made sure she got her commission at the register. Very sales oriented and honestly disgusting when dealing with very sensitive issues of people’s health

People are always talking in the sauna here, it’s so frustrating.
Also not sure the point of making a reservation for recovery if I show up at the time of my appointment and I have to wait 10 minutes past the appointment time… If people are late to their appointment that should be on them..
And furthermore, I was sold personal training for $700/month and I’m not getting everything the trainer sold me.. Very upset with this location and my experience here..
For the price of this membership, I expect better.

Exceptional LifeTime Location with dedicated staff focused on ensuring a great experience. Came here for the day and observed a very clean gym, no crowd!, and management keeping the place clean (one manager even cleaning the showers!) unsure how there are any ratings less than 5 stars here - only downside: no pool! But otherwise one the better lifetime locations (I’ve been to 7 others!)

Monthly dues keep going up, but maintenance of equipment is going down. A lot of the cardio equipment has issues - wobbling, TV not connected, pulse monitor not working, etc. I've sent several notes to management but they have not responded. One more increase and I find another gym!

I've been a member for about a year and a half, and I love it here! There's a variety of classes and the coaches are super encouraging. My favorite is the GTX class (comparable to Orangetheory). I also did personal training with Audrey for about 9 months - she taught me so much about strength training and nutrition during that time and definitely changed my outlook on fitness. Lifetime also does a great job of upkeep when it comes to strength and cardio equipment - if a machine is ever out-of-service, it's almost always fixed the next time I'm in. The cafe is great and has good ready-to-go meals with the nutrition labeled - they're pricy, but convenient in a pinch during a busy work week. My one suggestion would be to make it cooler or circulate more air because it always feels warm in there, to me but could just be because I'm working hard. ;)

Lifetime Potomac is a great gym. It has tons of classes to choose from, and I love every class I took. The gym is very clean, and the staff members (from locker room, instructors, cafe, concierge, etc) are all very nice and attentive. I do feel that this sets Lifetime apart from other area gyms. A special shout-out to Kevin, the General Manager, who went above and beyond to use his detective skills to find my phone. If it has been any other staff members anywhere else, I think I would be left to my own devices. He was quick thinking, tech savvy, kind (even though I was a nervous wreck!), and so patiently helped me locate it and brought it back to me. Thank you so much!!!

LT is nice, though there no gym or pool, which is odd.

Also odd is how the building is being boxed in with those townhouses.

It looks like the cardio section has about 2 more months of seeing 🌞 sunshine thru the windows before a building will completely block the view.

Almost two years ago I became a member of a Life Time facility located on Seven Locks in Potomac, Maryland. With the guidance and help of the incredible personal trainers, I was accomplishing my health and fitness resolutions.

Several weeks ago, I stepped into a renovated Life Time Potomac facility. I was impressed by the beautiful and tasteful changes in the appearance of rooms on the main floor. This is a demonstration of the staff's dedication to the user experience.

The improved and new equipment, programs, and other offerings will attract more guests and keep current members interested in coming back. Some of the empty areas were transformed into places of multiple activities. A welcoming atmosphere with friendly and experienced staff creates a great place for physical activities and relaxation. Newly installed places for hydromassage provide additional benefits and comfort for the users.

Update: it’s halfway through 2024 and despite numerous complaints by multiple people, they still refuse to put a big sign in front of the sauna saying “NO SHOES NO SOCKS NO STREET CLOTHES!” This is a serious problem. I can’t enjoy more than 2 minutes without someone coming in with their 5 day old sweaty gym clothing and shoe body odor overpowering the smell of that sauna. Or most times I go in its packed with fully clothed and shoes people. This is not a luxury gym. It’s a zoo.

I miss the good old days. Used to be a member since they opened. Nothing is the same after covid. One of my favorite features of this gym is that they were 24 hours. One of my most favorite moments in my like were when I could walk in at 1am when the world was asleep and have a nice workout and go to the sauna / hot tub / steam room after a long hard day with no one bothering me, then come home around 2:30am and sleep like a baby. Those days are over. They involuntarily jacked up the price of the membership for current members to double the price or more, and that was not a cool move. Although I understand the desire for exclusivity since it appears these gyms just get way too busy but I think there is a better way around it. The lifetime cafe here is one of the best features of the gym because they have healthy moderately priced options so you don’t have to worry about a pit stop for nutrition before or after. This place is a one stop shop. I wish I could join back up at my old membership price because I do miss this place a lot and I wish they remained a 24 hour gym. Also, theft is a HUGE problem here. Lockers get smashed and ransacked almost constantly. Happened to alot of people here. I personally had my stuff stolen before too. But generally I like this place given the few setbacks. The 24 hour feature was a huge deal for me. I’m willing to pay a premium just to have that back but I can’t justify paying more than double the price of a membership for half the features offered. COVID was a nice excuse for corporations to tread on their clients and this is a good example.

The gym crowd has gone downhill dramatically. I mean for an upscale gym I feel like it’s doesn’t fit the scene. Lifetime used to have a nice balance of a diverse group of people that amongst many good qualities, they had very good social etiquette. Now, people go into the sauna and the steam rooms with their smelly street or gym clothes and shoes. Management refuses to address this issue. Many people have complained for both the men and women’s locker rooms. People actually go into the hot tub with their sweaty shoes, socks, and clothes. Isn’t it crazy how they think that’s ok?! They hand their sweaty clothes in the sauna. Sometimes the smell of people in their BO dowsed clothes is unbearable in the sauna and steam room. It overpowers the smell of the wood and the eucalyptus. Which might I say, they stopped adding eucalyptus to the steam room too.

Now the Rockville location is much cleaner than the Gaithersburg one. However, the crowd is much trashier than before. I honestly wouldn’t mind if they increase the membership by a hundred bucks a month and give us a more premium service and create higher barriers to entry. Although an endless supply of money won’t change class, and that is what this club is missing. Simply for the fact that the people use full spa services in their street clothes. It wasn’t like this before, the management has gone down hill severely. I remember the days when I used to see the GM in the locker room regularly to check on things. I havnt seen the GM at either location once since I joined back up. And when I ask for them they are always out. As if they are in a permanent vacation.

Overall, if you want a planet fitness crowd with equinox prices and library hours, Lifetime Fitness is the place for you!

Nice people but exceptionally expensive. I don't recommend this joint for anybody. It's just a gym not a fancy country club. For that price it should include swimming, which it doesn't, and access to a nice golf course. It's got 100 pieces of equipment that are all nice but I only use about five of them at each visit. Give me a break!

I have had great experiences each time I have come to this gym. Each time I come the front staff is always very friendly and professional. We recently took our non verbal, autistic son to the kids club the other day. I initially was very hesitant to leave him and workout after having a very unpleasant experience at the Gaithersburg kids club. After about 25 minutes into my workout my anxiety went away. An hour later my husband and I went to pick him up, I was elated to see that he was enjoying himself and had adjusted to this new setting. So much so that he didn't want to leave. The manager (Cassie) was very accommodating and empathetic. I'm glad the staff here believes in being empathetic and inclusive.

My family has been a member since this club opened.

It is unfortunate but the quality went down the drain.

Management, which used to be professional, is now chaotic. All rules are broken. The Rockville gym manager gives personal training classes to children that are not old enough to be in the weight room; sexual harassment is rampant and mgmt could not care less; trainer and staff morale is low and they do not even bother hiding it anymore; staff openly berates the gym manager for incompetence; there is no culture of customer service trickling down from the top.

None of the Stages bikes work upstairs except ONE!! I was chased off of this one because there was a class in the area. Fix the bikes! We all pay the same price and I should not have to jump of the only bike that is not working because other “privileged” guests are in a class. You need to pay attention to your equipment.

Not a very nice lifetime location though the membership fees make it seem that it should be. The front desk people are very nice but the 5 star experience ends there. The facility is extremely outdated & old looking. The images shown here on Yelp are very strategic angles - be prepared to be disappointed when you see this place in person. The amenities are the only things I like about this gym & even that feels outdated.

I signed up for a barre class once and the teacher never showed. I never bothered rebooking another class. The parking lot has been in ongoing construction for a year at this point. To my knowledge it’s a simple parking garage not sure why it’s taking so long but you will need a car wash from driving on the gravel and makeshift parking spaces.

I recently got an email that my membership rate is going up $10. I responded asking what upgrades I can expect to see but never received a response. It’s just an okay gym I think the fees are a bit steep for what you actually get. If they were looking for ways to put money back into the facility the parking garage was probably the least of concerns but go off lifetime.

This used to be a great gym but it's steadily going downhill. The dues are becoming astronmical while the services are declining. Neither the classes nor the instructors are what they were before Covid. The facilities are not being maintained properly; The ladies restrooms were out of order for weeks, the locks in the locker room have beens semi replaced for months, the water coming from the water fountains tastes of chlorine and is not cold; not to even mention the inconvenience of the seemingly never-ending construction yet the dues keep rising. Generally this is a decent club. It is not too busy when I go, there are fair number of classes for a smallish club, and most of the equipment is in good working order. I enjoy the yoga and pilates classes and the personal training I have received has been helpful and professional.

I am growing increasingly frustrated with issues within and outside the gym's control.

* For the last month, repairs that were to take a couple days stretched out for four weeks causing the locker rooms to be swapped eliminating toilet facilities in the temporary men's locker room.
* Some pieces of equipment are awaiting repair for weeks at a time.
* The price of pilates classes went up 15% without notice (had to see it on my bill).
* The hot tub has been under repair several times when I wanted to use it post-workout.
* Construction projects in the area have made access to the club and parking difficult.
* Adjacent construction is disruptive for the yoga and pilates classes.
* I have had three classes canceled due to water supply to the building disrupted including once while I was in the middle of a pilates class.
* I had a class today cancelled because of an extended power outage likely due to construction in the area.

It's not an inexpensive club and the times I have brought up my concerns with the staff, I feel like my concerns have been dismissed. Last time I mentioned it, the nice staff person joked that, "the construction hopefully will be done by end of Summer 2024". It is a convenient club and I think I will continue to patronize the club but my spouse has decided to use a gym closer to his office rather than deal with the hassles.

The parking situation at this gym is absolutely unacceptable. The construction is making parking worse by the week. Not every spot is properly paved, or marked. Expect to spend a while finding a parking spot. Beware that construction debris are not properly contained from damaging your car. Paying a premium to accommodate to construction is not fair. Even $10 a month Planet Fitness has better parking. If your not willing to potentially have to skip a workout due to lack of spots, have construction debris go on your vehicle, park in unpaved / unmarked spots, have a decent car you care about, then this gym is CERTAINLY not for you.

***Updating my review to 5 stars as it seems that management called and addressed the temp issue which I really appreciate. Thank you lifetime for being proactive and caring about your members concerns! ***

As a regular attendee, this gym is getting too hot, I asked staff about this to see if they could adjust the temperature a bit (pretty sure it’s set to the 70s) but haven’t heard back from Lifetime or the manager despite calling and leaving a voicemail. Very disappointed that there hasn’t been any follow up or changes to the temp since this affects people’s performance during weightlifting and leads to faster burnout and fatigue, when it’s too hot inside the alpha section and overall could be a few degrees cooler. Although it’s cold outside that shouldn’t be a reason to crank the heat up, as this is a gym and it should always be cooler (for reference Golds Gym was set to less than 70 degrees). Very disappointed as this is a very simple change but if nothing is done, I’ll have to reconsider this gym for another cheaper gym if this issue continues.

This is a really nice gym. The front desk is friendly, and the cleaning staff are meticulous and on a constant cleaning rotation to keep the locker facilities clean.
The weight lifting area on the main floor is a little small but never crowded with everything you'll need. All machines are upstairs and will have everything you would like to see from a gym.
The current parking situation is not great, but that's due to the construction to add more spots.
Some wish list items that I wish the gym had would be a pool, basketball court, and keyless lockers. However, you do have the option with the membership here to visit the Gaithersburg Lifetime if you want those facilities.

It's a very old building and it shows on the inside. Dark, carpets could use a tune up and stuff looks just worn. You'll find most equipment on the upper level, while squat racks are on the half level below. You have a variety of classes but nothing really during lunch time, which was surprising since most people still work from home and could take classes during their lunch break. Prices just got increased again, after they had increased them not too long ago. You get access to the Gaithersburg location, which is nice but there was a reason i had signed up at this location and would have rather not have the price increase that included access to Gaithersburg. Fortunately there are other options in the area for less money.

Extremely spacious gym, with a wide selection of exercise equipment. Clean, useful locker rooms, a jacuzzi pool, spas, and more.
This gym has a cafe with snacks, which closes at 6pm.
There is also personal training and group classes.

Love this gym. Always clean, well organized, and with plenty of options for a great workout. The instructors are wonderful and the cafe is very good too. Even though the amenities offered are less compared to the Gaithersburg club, this place is less crowded and is the right size for us.

Coming from Gaithersburg Lifetime fitness, it just didn't compare to it. It felt very dark and obviously smaller. You had to carry a key for the locker with you vice having the code key. It felt like a regular gym, not a luxury gym.

This is a really great gym. I was concerned about the price, but after doing the 1 day guest pass, I now believe this place is worth the $139/month. They have about a dozen power racks with Olympic bar sets, barbells up to 120 lbs, dozens and dozens of cardio machines and an extremely nice locker room with great showers, towels and a nice spa included.

Love this gym but I wish they plan to go back to being open 24 hours again soon. Or have a way to have us scan in at night and let it be 24 hours. Honestly it doesnt even need to be staffed for the few hours its close. Just have a way people can scan in and workout. My old boxing gym was like that u just scan in and the door unlocks. I might end up switching to a 24hour gym soon because LT doesn't plan on going back to 24 hours at all so far.

While expensive, the gym does give the luxury vibe you are looking for. I just wish the employees were more present in the gym especially during the late night hours. Sometimes the guest pass gets absued and people continue to take their masks off in the gym. Employees should constantly be monitoring all levels of the gym to insure the high quality and standards being practiced. I love this gym, I just wished the employees enforced the rules more and monitored more

Overpriced and does not keep members' health as their first priority, and it is the same at all of the Lifetime outlets. While I realize this is a for-profit business, the focus is on up-selling and not health. All types of cross-marketing with very little advantage to members assaults you as soon as you walk in the door. The trainers are average at best, and the fees are far above market. I don't blame the trainers for the fees they charge, that is set by the company. I recently asked if I could make my membership a single instead of family because my kids are too old to be on the family plan. But I was very clear that I wanted the sme club access level that I had always had, and I have been a member for over 12 years. Without telling me and without my authorization, the club manager at the Rockville LifeTime moved me to a more expensive membership plan with access to fewer clubs! The worst kind of up-sell--one where I was actually up-charged but down-graded. I have been trying to get that corrected for the past 6 weeks and it still has not happened. In addition, the equipment is in poor condition with "out-of order" signs always prevalent. I suggest avoiding this gym. I will be cancelling my membership.

I've been a loyal member of this Life Time club for 12 years since it's launch and enjoyed many visits for maintaining my health and fitness until this club took a turn for the worse and my membership has come to a brutal end during this awful historic pandemic.

Since their reopening during pandemic, I've had to escalate complaints for basic requirements like temperature checks and maintaining healthy conditions, much less upholding posted policies. But matters came to a head when after they eliminated amenities and severely cut hours from the 24 hours I joined for while keeping their premium dues the same, the management refused to have staff periodically monitor mask compliance and required me to request staff intervention with the repeat more serious infractions undermining my workouts with limited time. This is an extension of their systemic and longstanding problem I encountered of their refusal to have staff monitor safety and make assistance available on gym floors during evening hours, which is standard in even the lower tier clubs in the area.

I've found much better value with alternative gyms in the area that value their members and respect the concerns of the pandemic and provide the basic support and amenities I found lacking in this club that requires premium dues which are totally unjustified. I strongly recommend looking at other superior gyms in the area offering much better value, appreciation of their members and far better member services.

There are things that I like about this place. I like my personal trainer. I like the ample supply of towels. I have no issues for the most part, except for when it's super crowded (read early mornings and evenings), and you keep bumping into people. Paid classes take priority, so don't be surprised to be kicked out of workout areas because there is a class going on with 2 people in it. In short, not cheap, super crowded, meh management.

Had the best experience visiting the LifeSpa today! I went in for a facial with Angela S. and she went above and beyond for me. After battling with adult acne I was nervous about getting a facial, but Angela ensured I was comfortable and understood the treatment. She even gave me tips on how to better care for my skin at home. I left feeling like I had a new face, and bonus: I got the most relaxing massage! Highly recommend!

Lifetime staff are simply rude. I have requested for exactly four months for a small change in my account and it has never been done. I asked in person and called about 15 times. Today I called again and expressed my frustration and their lack of customer service and was hung up on. I called the corporate Office and stated what I have been going through for four months and the customer care didn’t care a bit and hung up on me. I called a third time and asked to be transferred to an actual customer care manager and was told that there was no such a thing. This place charges me a pricy membership and yet I have to see a decent staff working with you. They are all rude , Unprofessional and lack customer care training. I am fed up and feel so cheated. Don’t join this place. A true nightmare.

Cancelling a membership is a nightmare here. They do everything in their power to delay and charge you for more time. I tried to cancel my membership and was told I would be charged for the following two months AFTER the cancellation. I had to escalate this to corporate and they gave me a month back, but I still had to pay $110 for a month I wasn't going to use. You shouldn't charge someone the upcoming month if you cancel the month before. Horrible business practice.

Overall, I’ve had a wonderful experience as a guest at lifetime. The facility has an admirable amount of options and machines, which vary depending on the muscle group, you plan to work. Moreover, the locker room, is one much less than a gym, and more compatible to that of a European football, training facility. Additionally, I thoroughly enjoy the hot tub, after a working hard, as well as the luxurious steam room. Contextually, I’ve used the gym around four times as a guest, and am experienced lifter, months always from turning 18. I am no liability to injury, and know how long to push myself, and the extent of weight I can endure. Hence, my only complaint pertains to a certain employee named Muyoung. Upon informing her I was not 18, she portrayed a bitter, arrogant, and contempt persona. I had used the facility three times prior, and had never been ID’d, so I was puzzled, to say the least, especially because of the treatment I received from your employee. My friend presented his guest pass to her, which in no way reflected the restriction of 18 and up. However, she stated “this is invalid” and ripped it up, in front of our faces. Similarity, when I presented my drivers liscence, another employee, presenting a more empathetic appeal, wanted to allow me to pass. Yet, Muyoung was set in her bitter manner, and insisted upon her ways.

A few weeks ago I was looking to switch my gyms so naturally I started looking at lifetime Rockville. I emailed an employee through the website to organize a guest pass to check out the gym and everything was set to go. However when I went to the gym the front desk attendant, Myoung, was very rude and not helpful. She would not honor the pass given by the employee and I was forced to wait outside until a supervisor finally said she was wrong. But by this time a bad taste had been left in my mouth, despite the amazing facilitie and more free weights and machines than could be used at once I will not be switching to lifetime. Positive Human-Human contact for employees has apparently become a thing of the past in this new age of email and electronics. The passive aggressive nature and inability to help has left me with no choice but too rate lifetime of Rockville a 2/5 star.

People are completely naked in steam rooms when there is kids present with their legs open up, like some people have no manners. Customers are rude and very criticising, front desk employees are on phone and talk to each other, they cant even greet people and answer to question properly. DO NOT give your phone numbers and emails to lifetime, they call you like there is no tomorrow, unnecessary repeated calls and mesages!.

A few weeks ago I worked out at LifeTime Fitness on a Saturday. A few days later, I went to pay a parking fee and noticed $250-300 in cash was missing from my wallet. I can’t prove the cash was taken while it was in my locker at LifeTime Fitness, but it was the only time the wallet was out of my possession. I have filed an Incident Report and Police Report. I am writing this review to ask if any other members of LifeTime Fitness have had a similar experience.
