My blac daughter was out off the team when she cheered here for the half year program because she missed practice due to illness. No one reached out to check on my child or to see what was wrong f instead I received a email stating that my child would be removed due to attendance. I didn’t thin in to write a review to now just to warn others to do their research when joining this gym. My issue happen around the same time as the young black girl drama with Tara and her being put off the tram due to her hair. That issue was not addressed properly while there either so all in all I would never go back.

Horrible coaches, very unserious and was flirting with other coaches. My child said they can’t do a skill and the coach completely ignored her. Will not be coming back anytime soon.

DO NOT recommend. Favoritism and nepotism is very apparent, along with turning a blind eye to bullying. Instead of addressing the real issues, the management blames the parent as the problem….except the real problem is that decisions are made with the values of winning and disregards what is best for children. Younger children on younger teams are simply a $$$$ to support their prized teams and ability to bring in more business by a winning reputation, regardless of the damage they do to children in the process.

There are SO many other great gym options in Maryland, do your research.

Tara decided it was okay to put a young black girl off the team because her hair didn’t fit her or Shelley’s personal standards. Avoid this place like the plague unless you’re into discriminating against very very young children.

This is horrible after I quit this team they got mad and charged my my 500dollers for some type of quit fee.then my sister still used to cheer with them but they called up my stepdad and asmsk why am I always in the waiting room and duh I’m always waiting for my sister and a whole lot more

We wanted to transfer from another club due to a necessary move, changing states, they did not even want to meet us and sent an e-mail saying they did not have any positions on any teams:(!!!!!!!! We were exploring the gyms close to our new house and none of the other gyms responded like this. They were all very welcoming.

Our daughter joined Maryland Twisters 2 years ago and it has been the best decision we have ever made. Cheer is at the core of our daughter’s overall health and well-being. She is excelling academically because cheerleading is teaching her about time-management and persistence. It is also keeping her balanced and grounded. Her MDT coaches have challenged her physically and mentally during the past two seasons, and our daughter is stronger for it. At MDT, the coaches take the time to understand how each athlete learns. They set higher expectations to develop them as individuals through work ethic, integrity and teamwork. Their personal investment, support and extra efforts towards the athletes, do not go unnoticed. They also know how to have FUN! We have made timeless memories and laughed A LOT! This is the first time we have been part of a gym like this were its not just about developing cheerleading skills, its about developing the individual for what lays ahead. For that, we will be forever grateful. We are proud members of the Maryland Twisters Family!

I have 3 children at Maryland Twisters of varying skill levels, ranging from a novice athlete working on level 1 skills, up to a level 6 athlete with elite tumbling skills. My kids have so much fun at Twisters, developing friendships with teammates, and experiencing the fun and excitement of competing in all-star cheer. As a parent, what I love about Maryland Twisters is that the coaches have the knowledge and experience to teach the kids correct technique, and they do a great job of challenging each of he kids at their own level in a positive way. My kids feel proud of their progress...it's been great for their self esteem! The work ethic, coachability, and teamwork my kids have developed at Maryland Twisters not only brings out the best in them as athletes, but these qualities are also essential to their success in life!

My daughter is finishing up her 2nd year at Maryland Twisters! Even though we have closer options and it's an hour + drive each way, it's worth every minute of our time. Everything about the process is so organized - they have amazing communication and well thought out processes. At competitions, I cry every time I stand among OUR fans as we cheer on all the teams from Mini Level Ones to the super exciting Level 6 teams. It's been a great experience for my daughter!

We are proud to be a part of the Maryland Twisters family!!!!!! My daughter has been cheering there for 6 years and we love it! The owner, Tara, is very responsive and involved with all the teams. The office staff is beyond helpful with all my questions. If you want your athlete to be the best at this sport, I highly recommend Maryland Twisters. They offer classes, privates, and 1/2 year teams too. Can't wait for next season to start!

My daughter has been a MD Twister for 9 seasons. She came to this gym when she was 6 and has never wanted to cheer anywhere else. She has built wonderful friendships with athletes and coaches, some that will be lifelong. The coaches are the BEST in the business. The environment is a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where she always feels like she’s at home when she walks in the doors. The office and pro shop staff are amazing, always very helpful! I would highly recommend MDT to anyone who wants their athlete to be trained by the best in a friendly, safe and caring environment. We have always felt like family here!

I have always loved watching this program in the cheer world. However yesterday in the awards ceremony i got a glimpse at what this program is and i am beyond mortified. To start the awards arena at battle at the beach is small and limited to space. Myself and about 6 others politely asked the coaches standing in front of us to squat down or sit so we the “parents” could see our children. The male coach from your j5 team. Turned around and shouted you all just need to stand up. This was not an option as other parents were sitting behind me. When my daughters team was called to go and get her award i was still unable to see the spot my daughter earned due to the rudeness of a coach. When the j5 team was called for awards your coaches were able to see as well as participate in the celebration of the win. Your coaches took the team behind stage and got their bag and when they walked out of the arena, your coaches of the j5 supercells proceeded to yell at us again but this time with your team present. The attitudes were rude and such a poor reflection of your program. I would never again support this program if this is what you stand for. I have cheered for 13 years in all star and this is my daughters 5th year and i have never seen a program so disrespectful to the parents whom pay to watch our children do what they love! I hope that you all have a talk with these coaches who so rudely represented your program. I hope that your children on j5 are given an apology for there coaches actions.

My friend, (no name calling), left and she said she liked the experience. She had said that the coach was funny, nice, but really really tough. Another coach would usually pick on the chubbier people on the team and make them work as hard. Now that the other coach is here that is not a problem anymore. There is many opportunities for your children there. She shared with me that she got to meet famous gymnast and singer Annie LeBlanc and famous dancer and singer Mckenzie Ziegler.

I signed up my daughter for an hour class for fun, not competition. After 2 classes, the teacher was sarcasticly rude to the girls about not knowing the moves. Other girls in the class shared similar stories about how the teacher was rude/mean to them as well. The teacher said if she didnt get herself together, that he would go to tryouts and tell everyone that she makes a fool of herself and essentially sabatage her. My main concern is that this teacher was extremely immature and unprofessional and I dont believe he should be working with kids.
