The pool itself is nice. Staff is concerning. Today the lifeguard and another individual were actually yelling. I understand talking, but not at this volume. I had to yell to even get their attention… and I asked politely, using please if they could converse more quietly. They responded by being even louder. I am the paying customer. Also there are several older people swimming and if they should be an incident such as a stroke or heart attack, that person would probably drown because the guard does not seem to be paying attention.

I was a member for about almost 2 years, the best gym that I’ve ever been to, the kids club team are very welcoming and treated my kids really good!! All the equipment is great, barely experienced overcrowded weight room, well distributed equipments. Had a great time in this gym!

I really like this gym. I am an early riser. The ladies that open the gym @4:30 are never late, always on time. The equipment is clean and repaired (if necessary) very quickly. They offer a wide variety of weights and machines that match anyone’s fitness goals or abilities.

Merritt Athletic Club is by far my favorite gym. While it is a bit on the pricier side, I truly believe it’s worth every penny. The space is never overcrowded, which means I never have to worry about waiting for equipment or feeling like someone is in my way. The facility offers two pools, and my absolute favorite part is relaxing in the sauna after an intense workout—it feels like the perfect recovery.

I especially enjoy running on the treadmill, as I’ve been training consistently for an upcoming 5K. The environment at Merritt makes it easy to stay focused and motivated on my fitness goals.

Decent gym and clean. Good amenities. Would give 4/5 starts but their personal training staff are rude, ignorant and unprofessional. 1 women stared at me and does not clean up after her client. And this one dude not only yells and half the time on his phone, but he’s criticizing his client poorly. Embarrassing for him and her. He also video and audio records. There are clearly rules and signs; NO VIDEO AND AUDIO RECORDING. Please have your staff follow the rules. Or make it a recording friendly gym.
Also, could use more equipment compared to the White Marsh location. Towson does not need a huge sitting area and 10 desks when you walk in lol

I was really excited to see this gym for the first time. The receptionist was cold. She said scan here and we close at 12. No hello, smile. First impressions are everything. I arrived around 11:15am. The gym is more compact than Canton and Downtown, but I’ll still give it another try. Customer service just needs to get better.

Been a member over 2 years now and it took me a while to say this. I love the kids club and the facility overall for what I come for. It’s much smaller than White Marsh and Canton but also much more calm as an older crowd comes here. My only issue is I’ve taken a class with Brock before and she was not friendly to me at all. She teaches most of the morning classes which is a bummer because I’m a morning person. There have been two other occasions I interacted with her and asked her questions about a class and she was very cold and seemed annoyed that I was talking to her. However I’ve seen her interact with tons of other people and was VERY friendly. Again I have been a member almost 3 years and don’t understand but I now purposely avoid all her classes. For reference I am a POC and in my 20’s so maybe she prefers older non POC people but idk. Other than that my experience has been wonderful but when I want to take a class I go to White Marsh where the instructors are friendly, play much better music and treat us all the same.

I recently joined and I am very satisfied with the Towson gym and it's facilities and, especially employee customer service. Smiles, genuine service with compassion, quick action and just overall kind and helpful. I appreciate the gym being clean and offering free towels with no limit. I'm going to try classes soon. There was a hiccup yesterday with my second visit when I brought my mother as a guest. Unfortunately the lift for the pool ran out of juice and needed to be charged halfway through getting my mom out. But the lifeguard I wish I knew his name was very helpful and the other employee Malik as well. Sorry if your name is spelled wrong. Even though they didn't know how to fix the issue right away they called their superiors immediately and were able to give us answers and even help my mom physically get out of the pool. Everyone did their job and me and my mom are very grateful. One thing I hope they do is have portable large capacity shower chairs for disabled individuals and overweight individuals as well. Right now there's just been one big white chair like a lawn chair that's hard to fit in the shower stall. But a manager called me today and asked me how everything was going and I let him know all the issues and how happy I am despite the issues to be a member at the gym. Super receptive. My Spidey senses couldn't sense jerk or annoyed at all. I believe the changes will be made quickly to training and facilities. The manager was happy to reassure me today and I was happy to reassure that manager. I'm sure we both walked away feeling heard and that matters to me. I can't wait for more experiences! Update: the response is OBVIOUSLY by Brooke, it’s comical how unprofessional this business is to make up I called her a little squirt! SHAME on you Merritt! Also she most certainly said she was locked in the bathroom bc they have locks on the outside of the kids zones bathroom. WHY WOULD I MAKE THIS UP?

I couldn’t wait to run out of there once my membership was up. It’s a shame bc we really enjoyed the Whitemarsh and Canton location. We live so close to the Towson location, we ended our very long family membership. They will literally hire anyone off the street to watch your kids. My then three year-old toddler went to summer camp there, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, all summer which I ended up stopping seven days before it was to end and was never refunded my money. My daughter was locked in the Daycare bathroom for 20 minutes and the only reason I know is because my daughter told me. When dropping my daughter off hearing her scream, irately mommy mommy don’t leave me was my first sign. I tried one more time, hearing her scream and then pulled her out to find out why she was screaming. When I confronted Brooke, who is the head of their daycare, she did explain that Kassidy had been locked in by mistake. Unacceptable! The worst part is my three-year-old had to tell me, and if I didn’t have a daughter who communicated with me, I would’ve never known! I have another friend who canceled their membership after they said one of the counselors had been aggressive with her child.

I’m actually leaving this review later than I wanted to bc I have been so traumatized by this gym I haven’t had the words. right after this incident Brooke had the audacity to pull me aside and ask if my kids were getting home safe?!?! Maybe Brooke should be more worried about if the kids are safe in their possession than with their own mother! The way that Brooke handled the situation was divergent. I actually really liked her at first. I even considered having her watch my kids at my home before all of this! I’m so happy that she never did! I stopped going for a few months because we were all traumatized.

My daughter started school. So I gave it another chance just to feel completely uncomfortable walking into that gym every time I did…then I get an email to review and give comments about the gym so I explain this situation and you know who responded to me the person I have an issue with Brooke. Completely unprofessional it should’ve been taken to upper management and responded accordingly. So my advice to mothers is think twice before you ever allow your children to go to summer camp there.

I feel like Brooke completely monopolizes her position. Even to the point where one of the last times I attended that gym I came with my sister and I had both of the kids to look out for each other in the kids club. I literally watched Brooke talking to the two people that should’ve been watching the kids inside the kids zone talk to them for at least 15 minutes without any eyes in that daycare just all eyes on her. Even when I came to grab my children, I had to go in and grab them because they were still fixated on what Brooke was saying.

I will never be a member of Merritt again.

I love merrittt clubs in general but the Towson club closes too early when other clubs are 24/7. Also, They only have one weightlifting platform for deads, snatches, etc which is a hassle to use. They need to add a stair machine in the cinema as a j rod the most used cardio equipment. Not allowing to pay $25 to bring a guest of the weekends when the place is mostly vacant during those days is another disservice that upper management policy that upper management needs to reconsider.

I did the one-day free trial at Merritt today and was very impressed with the club and its staff. Ken was awesome to talk to - he gave a fantastic tour of the space and was very kind and knowledgeable when answering my questions . From what I've seen, this gym is the best bang-for-your-buck you can get in Towson.

The equipment is relatively new and regularly maintained, and it has everything that is needed for most people's fitness goals. I loved the design philosophy of the gym - everything is as spread out as possible with plenty of open space, so there's a sense of peace and personal space while working out here. The gym was very empty on a Saturday morning, and I was told that even during peak hours it doesn't get so busy that you waste time waiting for equipment.

Other amenities include a spacious locker room with a sauna and steam room and 2 large, heated pools. There is even a "cardio cinema" room where you can use cardio machines in a dim, cool environment while watching something on the projector.

I am primarily interested in this gym for weight training, and I feel Merritt will enable me to achieve my goals while having an enjoyable experience. The Gold membership price of $84/mo may be steep depending on your financial situation, but this club is far, far better than gyms such as the YMCA or LA Fitness that charge around half the price at $44/mo. I decided to join for a 12-month contract the next day. Based on my limited experience, I would highly recommend Merritt

The indoor lap pool is concerning.
It is overly chlorinated. The air inside the indoor pool is inadequately ventilate and rife with chemicals.
Given the intense heat and humidity of the summer months, swimming in the indoor pool poses the possibility of developing chlorine intolerance, chlorine allergies, skin and respiratory disorders.

I strongly suggest that management investigate the situation in both pools, since older adults and children frequent one of the pools. But all pools should be properly maintained and the air filtration system (if one exists) should likewise be examined as a matter of public health.

I can not recommend Merritt Towson enough! Cole helped me sign up and get started and was nothing short of amazing. Vanessa met with me and got me started with all of their programs. I love the gym. The staff is friendly and helpful, the facility is clean and organized, and the equipment is up to date and plentiful. This would have been a 5 star review 3 years ago. However, since the Covid pandemic they have drastically reduced the hours with no plan to restore them. The Towson location closes at 9pm on weekdays, 7pm on Saturday, and 6pm on Sundays. There are plenty of people who only have time to work out in the evening. It is not uncommon for people with families to work during the day, navigate dinner and family time in the early evening, and not make it to the gym until after 8pm. I understand that it may not be practical to resume 24 hr operations, but I do think that many members would benefit if the gym stayed open until 11pm. When I joined the gym, it was open 24 hrs. Since then, the monthly fee has increased and the hours have decreased. I hope that something will change soon because I really don’t want to leave this gym, but if they are not open when I can be there, I will have no choice.

It's the best club in town. Seriously! BUT with Corona... A lot of goodness is out the door - towels, soaps, shampoos, ability to workout 24/7. etc. I just hope all this goes away soon, so I could have my club back!

So, I'm back and most of club's amenities are back as well. That is really good. I say most because my branch is still not 24hrs and that sucks.
There's one other thing that I've noticed since I've been a member of another club for last couple of years, and that is how little this club's workout equipment zone is in comparison. Some of the machines I would like to use are... just not there and I don't think there's room for expansion. Now, please don't take me wrong - you can "substitute" for all exercises I need with what is there, but... It is still good to be back!

Not friendly or inclusive to children w special needs. The response implies my child did something harmful which is a lie. A staff member embellished a tantrum which I was not contacted about and was the first in my 6 months at that establishment when questioned on what happened she admitted she lied. My son told me that same staff member yelled at my child and the staff member admitted to putting my child in 15 minute time out which is extremely inappropriate for a child with autism or any child. The behavior of that staff member would get her fired at my business but I see you all would rather lie then simply apologize and train your people adequately. You have teens watching more that 10 children alone you do not follow ratios and leave infants unattended you yell at special needs kids and you lie. Parents do not leave your kids here. Lastly my child was never suspended I pulled her out of there, another lie. BUYER BEWARE

Merritt in Towson is a great gym. The staff is very friendly, the equipment is new and well-cared for, and the overall environment is bright and clean.

More recently, we've done swimming lessons for our young kids as non-members. The prices are reasonable and the instructors fantastic. A few years ago I did swim lessons as an adult with the Michael Phelps swim school; I previously had difficulty learning to swim but was swimming (very basically) by the end of the first lesson.

I would definitely recommend going to Merritt Towson. I can't speak to the current price of membership, as we're not members.

Предлагают за доп плату работу с нутрициологом и личным тренером. Но по мне, так дороговато. Зато сама цена за абонент приемлемая. Есть групповые занятия, на них надо заранее записываться через приложение в телефоне. Два ассейна (дорожки и для аэробных занятий в воде), две сауны ( сухая и с паром). В раздевалках нет коврового покрытия, как это было, например, в голдс джим. Соответственно, проще убираться и в раздевалках чище, чем в некоторых других клубах. Хотя, конечно, убирают не так, как русская душа требует) В женской сауне уже дней 10 под лавкой лежит резинка для волос. Хотя, уборки там производили, но резинка так и лежит. Уборка формальная. И в женской сауне уже месяц не работают часы) Висят "для декорации". Это мелочи, но говорит о подходе к чистоте и любви к деталям.
Персонал приветливый, никакого негатива. Есть бесплатная вода для питья в зале.

I love the Towson club by far the BEST. I have visited other clubs as well as a member of other clubs and none compare to Towson. You are part of the family here. We are greeted every time we walk in and when we leave. Staff says hello in passing no matter who it is. My son loves Kids Club and the activities. Frequent cleaning procedures/protocols so I feel my child is safe as he plays. Equipment is spaced out according to safety guidelines, plenty of hand sanitizing stations and wipes to clean equipment. Various spacing for you to work out like turf room, TRIBE room and other isolated areas to socially distance. You ALWAYS see staff personnel cleaning and wiping down areas. Overall I feel safe while I work out and while my son plays in the Kids Club. Such a great club to be a part of.

Great clean gym! It's perfect for families with a indoor pool & my child loves the slides at the outdoor pool. The classes are very organized with personable instructors.

Lots of different equipment for the casual or serious lifter. Powerlifting platform, weights get real heavy. Swimming pool. Yoga and spin studio. Kids center. Clean locker rooms. No shortage of cardio machines. Very rarely crowded. Great fitness club.

Edit after their response: Apparently members are just numbers to them. Don't expect reasonable accomodations as they're more than willing to have you cancel your membership. And I didn't ask for calls to all members, but to those who haven't shown up for months while you bill them.

I waited months for them to reopen after the March close, finally checking on October 1, 2020 that they were open, and I went back that day. I checked with my relative whose credit card it was being billed to, and he was surprised to see that they had charged him for July, August, and September. No notice was received that the gym was reopening or billing would commence.

I asked for those three months to be applied to future months when I actually use the facilities. The billing representative applied one of the months to the November, but refused to apply the rest. She informed me that the primary account member had unsubscribed from emails and I should have been following the gym's social media accounts. In the past, I had requested my email be used and no explanation has been provided for why it was not. Nor for why a quick phone call was not made if you're billing someone but can see they have not used the facilities for months.

I responded one more time asking for all three months' charged dues to be applied to future months, or I would be cancelling my membership. They again declined and agreed to terminate my membership at the end of November.

Also, completely unrelated, but in December of 2018 my locker was broken into and my wallet stolen. Employees mentioned that it was far from the first time this occurred. So beware leaving valuable there.

This is one of my favorite Merritts. I really feel safe, the classes are diverse and have lots of different times available, and the instructors are great. Highly recommend BodyCombat, BodyPump and BodyStep. Truly a judgement free and family friendly zone.

The Barre and Yoga classes are amazing. My kids love personal training with Greg. The indoor and outdoor pool are great to have all year long. Can't say enough wonderful things about Merritt.
