Been a member here almost 7 years finally decided to cancel based on up keep and customer service has went downhill significantly. Canceled back in July they have been billing me for almost 5 months and my credit card is on auto pay. The only way I know was there call service notified me my card was getting ready to expire. Melissa goes on to explain Matt had you sign a transfer membership for me and my wife why would we transfer when we canceled. Matt obviously gave the wrong wrong document.

Before I started coming to Merritt, I could barely ever motivate myself to go to the gym and my health was going down hill. But since joining this gym, I’ve loved it there so much, I go almost every day. More often than I’ve ever gone to a gym. My overall health has improved significantly and I love working out. Good equipment, easy access. Absolutely 0 respect for their own rules - staff may actually laugh in your face if asked to enforce “no kids on equipment” and gym bags lying everywhere. Kids Zone times are meaningless - if you intentionally arrive when it’s supposed to be closed so you can work out without uncontrolled screaming in the background… good luck with that.

During my holiday in Baltimore from Dubai, I had the absolute best gym experience! From the moment I walked in, I was met with outstanding hospitality. The staff, especially Kirsten Pearson she deserves all the praise! went above and beyond offering me a free pass and even a locker to use.

My sister got into a verbal disagreement with a camp counselor over the camp counselor telling my nephew not to jump into the pool because she was getting splashed. One thing led to another, and it got heated. Rightfully so. In what world is it acceptable for any adult to address a child when they are COMPLETELY WRONG! To tell children not to jump in the pool because you are getting wet is absolutely insane. So then the regional manager Andrew called her today to “get her side of the story” in which his professionalism was subpar. He began yelling at her, over talking her and being disrespectful. She asked to have someone else call her to discuss the events that took place and he tells her “no he won’t have anyone else call her” so she hangs up because she felt afraid and overwhelmed. He then continues to call her back to back to back THREE more times. Although she stated she didn’t want to talk to him because of his lack of professionalism! The issue at hand here is I’m assuming this is a race thing. Nothing was ever addressed to this camp counselor when she was supposed to be INSIDE of the pool with the children. This place is racist…. And once again the “colored” person is the aggressor because she stood up for her 6 year old child who should have NEVER been addressed by an adult who was not an employee of the club. Andrew is a poor, lousy, disgusting excuse of a manager and a MAN! To over talk a woman because your ego is too large so disgusting! I assume that’s why his wife is divorcing him LOL makes sense! Disgusting! If you are black…. Take your money elsewhere! These people don’t respect your time, your voice or your opinion. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!

I understand that some gyms/clubs have contracts, But I could not return to this facility due to family health and also the fact that they did not tell me it is a summer camp for kids. I love kids, but I can’t work out when children are running around you. for safety reasons the parents should be watching their children and little boys should not be in ladies locker room, watching women get dressed and undressed. The gym should have family rooms for this reason. I have children and I love children, but I think that it should be a certain time of day that children can access the pool And club.

Their financial department gave conflicting information about refunds and my bank thinks is was intentionally misleading to me. I'm very concerned for the integrity of these clubs. Also, there is a lot of broken equipment and weird hours for the price. Not a great value in my opinion.

Starting this off with I'm a paying member and I don't want retaliation so my name is not my real name.

Today I was in the gym doing weight workout in an area that I assumed was okay. I am always aafe when doing weight training and I want the best for everyone. While there I overheard another member blatantly talking saying "all us OG's in the gym and all these wannabe newbie’s come in and take stuff up”. He said this and directly looked at me after he was done. I admit I am new to the gym but I didint disrespect him, I didint even say anything to him. I admit I am a bigger guy but that’s why I’m at the gym.

So what I’m getting to is this, don’t go to Merritt if your new, you will just be talked down to when you did nothing wrong.

The senior gym manager at White Marsh is Amazing! She is always friendly, helpful, and kind. I was not feeling well and left the gym abruptly. I received a text message from Merritt White Marsh a day later to check in on me to see if I was feeling better. This act of kindness made my day. Great facilities! I love the sauna and the pool during the summer. They have food and alcohol pool side. They also have great group fitness classes and wellness coaches. Along with personal
trainers of course I have used in the past. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The instructors always provide accommodations/modifications if you need something adjusted or lower intensity. I also love their protein shakes.

I believe my survey thst was not posted was for the wrong gym. My apologies. The pool area of Merrit has no place for adults only. The kids constantly jump and play around the lap only areas. I get that the pool on the other side is a family pool. Then you have a kids pool. How about cutting out a portion of the woods behind the two pools and make a 3rd for adults only. The gym is great and the cleanliness is good as well. BUT please consider making an adult only pool. Adults really can't enjoy the family pool cause the kids are constantly playing games and it's hard 2 just actually get in the pool to SWIM.ADULTS are out numbered by KIDS in family pool! Who wants to get in a pool and stand around and chat?? Also on July 11 2024 I went into the sauna room of female locker room and I noticed an odd odor and there was 1 member in the sauna with me. I happened to look down as I was sitting close to the hot rocks of sauna and that female member had laid her panties on the rack next to the sauna rocks. I was totally disgusted. You may have to put a sign up for members not to hang under garments in the sauna 🤮. Couldn't believe her nerve!!

I love this pool most of the time. Lately, however, the pool has been too cold and the staff refuses to adjust the pool temperature to make it comfortable. I've never encountered this problem before now, but I refuse to swim at the Towson location when the White Marsh pool is closed for mostly this reason. And being gaslighted about it doesn't help the club's case. I'm not the only person who feels this way or who has a thermometer of my own.

The facility itself is really nice. Appears clean and the pools are wonderful. The variety of classes they offer for the price is terrific. My only feedback would be in regards to the pool area. depending on what staff are at the pool, sometimes they allow young children to jump and play around in the lap lane, when it is very clear they aren’t swimming laps. For this reason, you aren’t always able to use the lap lane unless you are swimming around kids playing while doing so. I will point out that it just depends on what staff is there. Some staff will always redirect the kids. But this can be frustrating as there is lots of other pool space. But everything else has been a great experience.

If you're looking for a good gym experience, I recommend avoiding the white marsh location I visited at 11 p.m.
It was dirty, with most of the treadmills broken, and the locker room looked like a tornado had gone through it.

Instead, save your time and check out the Canton location or other gyms in or around the city.

Fantastic gym. Great kids area to drop off kids while working out! Well maintained and fun pools and swim classes. All the equipment is very well maintained, and clean and people working here and working out here are very respectful and pleasant! Locker rooms and sauna are clean and safe. I love Merritt Clubs at White Marsh. I relocated out of state and was so sad I had to cancel my membership, as they did not have one where I am currently residing. This gym is smaller than the Merritt Club in Canton but has some great amenities to offer and can be less crowded, especially if you like an early morning workout. Parking is plentiful and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a sauna and showers available in the locker room. They do have a pool that is outdoor, so it is primarily available during the warmer months. There is a cardio theater room, which usually airs movies throughout the day. A HUGE plus for those that need a distraction while running on the treadmill, riding a stationary bike, or on the elliptical.

Overall, it's a good gym with plenty of equipment & classes. Most staff are outgoing & friendly. The biggest downside is that kids regularly take over the lap pool (they have a 2nd pool for kids). While I understand having a space for all, it's supposed to be a fitness center, not a playhouse or community center. This gym is great if you’re a person who has a family, and are looking for a beginner friendly causal workout environment.

The staff is super friendly, and the space is always pretty clean.

If you’re someone who’s a more experienced lifter/athlete the space might not be for you. It could really use a turf area, or a designated space for functional training. Some of the equipment is getting a bit dated, and you’d struggle to do any kind of real powerlifting here.

Just paid $150 for 2 people and got a gold membership have not been there consistently but im going to start so far so good Great beautiful place pricy worth it me and my fiance love it just watch the hours. Will let you know if it gets better to put 5 stars. You have to pay a little more than $100 monthly for the membership with discounts for 2 people. $84 just for me and $64 for my fiance plus they give you Guest passes for a week for any of your friends or family as long as YOU are a member. I love this gym! I honestly enjoy everything about it, from the time I walk in to the time I leave. There are days where the only thing motivating me to exercise is my excitement to be in the gym itself. Would love to give a great review as I heard such great things about this place. Signed up for a year and wish I never had. Between the filth and class of people I would not recommend this gym to anyone. I constantly see people with no shoes on, going to and from the bathroom, alerted staff and they have done nothing. Same person every week. The amount of garbage and dirty rags on the floor is unacceptable. People are constantly trying to reserve all the equipment around them to the point you can't use anything. When taking issues to management nothing ever seems to come of it. Rules are clearly posted but no one is enforcing them. I can't wait to go back to Gold's.
