Kwesi
I have been strength training with Kwesi for the past three months. When we started he said our goal was to make me younger and stronger, from “old (73) to young (not sure?),” he would say, and indeed, I have been feeling younger and stronger since working with him. He uses what seems like an endless stream of exercises, and variations of each.
Another goal was to lose up to 20 pounds through weight training. That is happening, but more slowly, although my body fat ratio is going down. Kwesi blames me for not making more progress losing weight because I have a small amount of ice cream every night. He has made more progress than others to get me to stop, but so far he has not been totally effective. Im hoping to reach my weight goal with strength training and facing, like a man, the loss of one of my most favorite non-human things in the world.🍨🍧

I've been a member for many years and always enjoyed this club. Plenty of equipment, classes, very knowledgeable and friendly staff, and warm and easy atmosphere.
I started personal training for the first time last year with EP's Kwesi B. and it quickly became an integral part of my workout routine. I love the variety of exercises and appreciate how Kwesi always adjusts them to what my current needs are. I feel better and stronger then ever. Many times his guidance helped me recover from injuries faster and go back to the sports I love!

What a great club, Run by a wonderful GM Mary Ann. Always clean locker room and fresh towels avalable. The classes and instructors are top notch professionals. This value alone is so worth the membership. Carol James/ Senior fit, Zumba. Cycling instructors all are great, Judy Glazer, Stacey Colino, Robert Teri. Can't say enough about the class offerings and wonderful instructures. You get a great value for the money spent.

I didn’t care to do a review on this place and what I have observed over the past few months, but I really don’t appreciate how I was treated during my last visit by the staff, so here I am.
1) I was doing my work out on the dirty green carpet area, when one of the personal trainers (glasses, thick accent) brought all of his clients to the area I was in. Their butts, feet, and hands were in my face while doing their work outs. I didn’t say anything because I understand that this is a public gym, so I just moved my stuff and adjusted myself accordingly… which didn’t work. I continued my workout.
2) a cleaning guy was vacuuming the floor, and literally kept putting the vacuum cleaner right in my face. I had to tell him to stop. The trainer (above) asked me to move. I declined. How about tell the cleaning guy to not be rude by shoving his vacuum cleaner in my face, and vacuum another dirty spot??.. or maybe even be polite human being and excuse himself. The vacuum didn’t even work, and kept leaving behind small piles of lint and strings.
Then, this trainer decides to mumble things about me to his clients… which of course, caused them to all stare at me and weigh in with their comments- making my workout uncomfortable.
I couldn’t even walk by to leave and/or get my things without this trainer staring in my face (saw out of my peripheral view) as if I was bothering him. I didn’t even look at him or say anything. I was actually looking down at my phone to avoid eye contact.
—
I got to the gym around 4:30pm and left around 7:30pm. The same wet towel was on the floor in the locker room. While the locker room attendant is waking around on her phone, per usual.
Walls and handrails are dirty and chipped. As two other members mentioned, things are falling apart.
Some of the stairmasters feel like you’re climbing on dirt.
Weights holding doors in the halls.
Wires holding up trash bags.
And, so much more.
With all of the membership money, they should be able to afford a basic priced door stop ($10 at Walmart), and something besides wires to hold up a trash bags… and maybe a $50 Walmart vacuum cleaner that actually picks up dirt.

Kweisi is a life saver. I’m in my early 50s and had been having age-associated injuries. Not only has Kweisi trained me through a smart routine on how to get stronger, but he did it methodically, so that I would build up my flexibility and balance in a manner that helps me to be both more fit and to avoid injury. I haven’t felt this good or strong in years.

My husband and I have been members of the gym for over a decade. I’ve always been impressed by the friendliness of the staff. While I’ve gone regularly, I realized that I needed more structure and variety to my workouts. I was intrigued by an email I got from Everett Shipmon about the strength training classes for women 55+, and decided to give them a try. I’ve now been working out regularly in a small group with Kwesi Blankson for over a year, and have made great progress towards my goals of increasing my strength, balance, and overall fitness. Kwesi is the perfect combination of knowledgeable coach and cheerleader, challenging our group as a whole while customizing exercises/stretches when necessary. His caring, positive attitude and encouraging manner make his workouts a pleasure — he’s the best!
I have also greatly enjoyed Denise West’s Barre classes, which are both fun and challenging.
All this being said, I do feel the Club could use some updating, as well as more thorough cleaning. The parking lot in particular needs regular removal of trash and debris.

I don’t like leaving bad reviews, but this is consistently the dirtiest gym I have ever been to. Locker rooms are moldy, ceilings are leaking, lockers itself are disheveled, and floors that are always filled with puddles of water. Most equipment is so badly worn away you can’t read the weight amounts and also filthy. I wish they took this issues seriously because it really would make all the difference. In conclusion, this place is not worth the money at all, go pay a little more and head somewhere else.

One Life Fitness in Bethesda is solid. Mary Ann Niklow, the GM, is consistently friendly and goes out of her way to accommodate members—no fluff, just efficient, personable leadership. The training staff know their stuff and are always available to answer questions or make tweaks to workouts. Facilities are clean—locker rooms, courts, pool—all well-maintained. I appreciate the variety here: basketball, tennis, pickleball, and swimming, so you can mix it up without ever getting bored. If you want a no-nonsense gym that actually delivers on service and upkeep, this is it.

I was in a bit of an exercise rut -- I really liked the spin classes I was taking at One Life -- but felt like I needed and wanted to do more to feel better and be healthier and more fit. I thought I should be doing more weight and strength training, but was unsure how to do it by myself. The relevant group classes were not at good times for me -- I work full time. Then I saw an email from Everett Shipmon, the Explosive Performance Director at the club. He was advertising a strength-training class for women 55+ that sounded really good -- small groups, and a focus on building strength -- what all the articles I was reading were telling me I should be doing. I liked the idea of small groups -- I've worked one-on-one with a trainer before, but didn't really enjoy it -- just too intense.
I signed up, and started training with Kwesi Blankson -- and I can't say enough about how great the experience has been. I've been meeting with him and a small group of women once a week. I've enjoyed it so much and have come a long way -- I've now incorporated my own strength-training routines into my schedule, and I feel stronger, look better (well, to me, anyway!), sleep better, and am so much more motivated to keep going! Kwesi is very funny -- which makes the workouts fun -- and kind -- which is the kind of trainer I need. He pushes us, but knows when and how to motivate gently -- he never pushes you past what you can do. Having peers in the class has also made it much more fun. I also appreciate the helpful emails Everett sends out about healthy eating, motivation, etc.
I have belonged to the gym for about 20 years, and have enjoyed and benefited from the group classes -- but this year, thanks to Kwesi and Everett, has really been transformative for me.

I didn’t appreciate how much my strength and endurance had improved until my recent trip to the Galapagos. Thanks to my small group trainings with Kwesi, daily travel activities — including snorkeling, kayaking, and hiking on difficult terrain at high altitudes — were a breeze! Kwesi is part trainer, part cheerleader. His patient, individual approach is helping me improve my balance, stamina and overall health. He’s awesome! Many thanks to Kwesi, and OneLife Fitness!

I joined OneLife Fitness Bethesda in late January of this year and have been going 4-5 times a week. I signed up for 1:1 personal training with trainer Kwesi Blankson as I wanted to start strength training and learn proper form, build muscle mass and body recomposition. Under his excellent guidance, I have lost 6 % body fat, gained muscle mass and definition, and gone from no strength resistance experience to confidently doing dead lifts, lifting heavy etc. with the gymbros. He quickly identified mobility limitations to work on and has shared a lot of his expertise as well as targeted exercises to help me regain mobility and develop muscle mass. This gym is huge so you can almost always find the open machines that you need, and the massage chair, hot tub, sauna and steam room are a great reward after a hard workout.

Onelife Fitness gym in Bethesda is top notch. The facility is conveniently located in the center of Bethesda, minutes from the metro, with ample parking. I like the wide range of classes which run from early morning to late evening. The classes are run by highly professional instructors. The facility is well managed, the staff is friendly, and the equipment is well maintained. The Olympic size pool is terrific, especially during the cold winter months. The manager is readily available and highly responsive to requests and suggestions, always willing to walk that extra mile which is needed. I highly recommend the Onelife Bethesda gym.

I have belonged to the club since it first opened and have seen it thru all its variations, including when it had a restaurant. I presently only use the pool for water aerobics and the present teacher, Igor, is excellent. The staff have become much friendlier and service oriented. I know that people take many other classes with which I hear good things.

My husband and I were shopping at Safeway. I love watermelon and always insist on picking out a whole one myself. There was a giant box of them outside the store, so as usual, I told my husband to go in ahead with the cart since I like to take my time choosing the ripest one. After some thorough thumping and inspecting, I found the perfect melon.
I hoisted it over my right shoulder and walked into the store, expecting to spot my husband right away. But nope — nowhere in sight. So now I’m wandering through Safeway, lugging this giant watermelon, calling his name like I’ve lost a child. A few aisles in, I finally spot him — but he doesn’t hear me!
At this point, I’m done. My arms are about to give out, and I’m ready to surrender this watermelon to gravity. But then — miracle of miracles — I spot a random empty cart just sitting in the middle of the aisle. When does that ever happen? It was like the universe threw me a lifeline. I plopped the melon in like I’d just won an Olympic event.
I couldn’t have imagined being this strong a year ago. Huge thanks to Everett and Kwesi for coaching me into being strong enough to carry a watermelon through a store — with confidence!

Sport and health clubs can run the gamut from good to so-so and bad. The Bethesda Sport and Health is very good and it all starts with the General Manager Mary Ann Nicklow. The staff reflects the manager's drive and warm and welcoming personality. Users of the club are greeted warmly by whoever is staffing the front desk, including managers at times.
The club is clean and well run. As with heavily used facilities, things malfunction or become disabled. To fix or remedy these issues, management and staff are always giving their full attention to matter. This is a reassuring aspect of the Bethesda Sport and Health club. Personal trainers are friendly and dedicated to their clients. They are professional and extremely knowledgeable.
I am part of a dedicated group of users of the convertible squash/handball/racquetball courts. Securing the courts is made convenient by dedicated online reservation system or through front desk personnel.
As in life, the are no perfect situations, but we adjust and adapt when necessary and hope for the best out comes. At Bethesda Sport and Health, when things aren't perfect, the club shines in its ability to adjust and this is a create character of the place. My five stars are not meant to say this place is flawless, they are meant to compliment the staff and the efforts to give users the best experience on any given day.

When I first reviewed this gym, it was doing business as "Sport and Health Bethesda." Since then, Sport and Health now operates as Onelife Fitness. The name has changed, but the overall quality of service and care has remained excellent, in my opinion. Our GM Mary Ann has remained the beacon of our facility. Along with her capable staff and personnel, the facility is well run. When things change or require maintenance, communication is always provided and updated as needed. I am happy to stand by my original impression of this gym and happily remain a member. With a wide variety of activities including swimming, court sports, fitness classes, and personal trainers, this Health club shines and may bring light to your life.

I signed up at Onelife Tenleytown for $52/month plus an annual fee. I moved and now live closer to Onelife Bethesda, but was told I have to pay $89/month just to use it because it’s a "Signature" club.
Frankly, the gym looks old, the machines are outdated, and it’s not worth the price. Charging more for less makes no sense.

But wow, be careful! The ceiling in the basketball gym is falling down, piece by piece, mold is growing and paint is peeling and floor needs a resurfacing badly. My entire family and I have been going to One Life in Bethesda for over 27 years. My son previously worked there and continues to work out there every time he comes home to visit.
It’s the best gym we’ve ever attended. The space is huge, so even during peak hours when it’s “crowded”, it’s never overwhelming and I can still easily find the machines I want to use and get through my workout quickly and efficiently.
The best part of One Life Bethesda is the staff. Mary Anne is a mainstay and has been fantastic as club manager over the years. Every time I’ve had any request or concern she’s immediately handled it in an efficient and satisfactory manner. All of the trainers are great too, both for formal sessions, and some will even offer free advice based on questions I have about specific exercises or types of workouts.
The locker rooms are always clean and the club offers almost every amenity a gym could at a reasonable price.
Every time I travel and have to use another gym I always find myself missing out on my home gym in Bethesda at One Life.
Hats off to the staff at One Life Bethesda, and thanks for being a gym for my whole family for over 20 plus years!

This gym is by far the best money I spend every month. The facility is huge and has something for everyone whether that be weights, cardio, swimming, tennis, squash, pickleball, yoga, etc. The staff does an excellent job keeping the place clean and the general manager, Mary Ann Nicklow, always goes out of her way to provide service above and beyond. Perhaps the best part of the gym is the pickleball community, Stay Encouraged Pickleball, created and led by coach Aaron Gamble. The pickleball community at OneLife is friendly and accommodating and has a wide range of skill levels to ensure there are fun games for everyone. Whether you take it more serious or just prefer it as a social event, people are very welcoming either way and always willing to help those who want to learn. I highly recommend OneLife!

OneLife Fitness Bethesda is a great gym. You won’t find a better value for your money! From the moment you step inside the front door, you are greeted by a welcoming staff. They are available to answer any questions or if they don’t know the answer, they can get it. Grab a towel or towels and head to the locker room. Either is well equipped for your needs. There are plenty of lockers. Once you’re dressed, the gym awaits. It has just about everything you could need for a great workout - pool, basketball court, squash and racquetball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, two rooms for classes (and there are a lot of them all included in your membership fee), and cardio and strength equipment. For the cardio and strength workouts they have ingeniously divided the gym into two sections - the first is much larger and has more of every type of equipment, the other is smaller yet has quite a variety of equipment. My wife and I find the smaller section ideal for working with our trainer. It gives you plenty of room to really concentrate during your session and is perfect for that one on one experience. And before I forget there are plenty of trainers. So find one that fits your style and needs and get started. Also, the glue that holds this place together is Mary Anne Nicklow, General Manager. She’s great so stop by, say hello and introduce yourself.

We have been members there for a while. The locker area is not clean and if you want to use the pool with an 8 year old boy, it is very inconvenient. I cannot change his clothes in women’s locker room and I obviously cannot allow him to use the men’s locker’s room by himself. The little bathroom by the pool is dirty, it does not have a hairdryer or hot water sometimes. The worst experience I had was today when a front desk employee was incredibly rude to me in front of my son when I told him about the confusion I and an old lady had about our reserved lanes. When I spoke to his supervisor, the supervisor seemed uninterested and advised me to download the app instead of apologizing on her employee’s behalf. This place is way too expensive for the kind of service you receive. I would have given this place “0” if I could. Do not become a member.

Overall, it's a nice sports club. The gym is very spacious, but unfortunately, it smells quite bad. The male spa area also had an unpleasant odor, with a ridiculous one-week cleaning schedule for the steam room and sauna, which goes beyond safety and hygiene standards. The manager was very nice—this is the only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1. Once they stole my silver ring ad towel during a pool session. They really need to improve the hygiene aspect and safety. Some new machines in the gym area and renovations would also be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been going to this gym for 10 years and it’s gone thru its incarnations but has updated equipment and has really good vibes. It’s huge and has 3 or 4 different gyms but I think it’s most valuable asset is the quality of its personal trainers and sessions I get which can be several times a week or once every couple of weeks or whatever. It keeps me motivated, accountable, but really getting older, I have expert help to work on different strains injuries etc. squash courts, pickle ball, tennis, swimming pool and saunas! Plus - and this could be the critical factor - my membership is paid by my health insurers which has interest in me staying healthy. So check it out if that’s your category. Maryann - the wonderful manager - knows all about it.

We had been members at Onelife for a while. Our kids wanted to check out the basketball court. There is a claim on their website that you could try the basketball court anytime. We called and a manager told us we could do just that as long as the kids were supervised by an adult. When we showed up, they said we weren’t allowed. The customer service agent, Seline, insulted us by saying “Anyone off the street could make that claim”. If I could give them 0 stars, I would!

Most disorganized, confusing, and messy gym you'll ever go to. I think if you play it like a maze you'll end up somewhere cool. I spent 30 minutes trying to find the basketball and there were people playing pickleball there by the time I got there. Go to Equinox or St. James to save your sanity!

WARNING - The turf area is NOT a space you can expect to use regularly. It is mostly just a space the Onelife personal trainers to use for their clientle. You can sneak in some Sundays or after after 8pm on week nights.
Most other features of the gym are very good, though. Basketball, tennis, pickle, pool, studio, cardio, weights, etc. Establishing a culture of putting the plates back where they belong is my only suggestion.

No business should charge you $300 to cancel a subscription. Tired of acting like these anti-consumer business practices are the norm. Hundreds of other businesses are able to compete without needing to force their customers into unfair, confusing, and hard-to-cancel contracts.
Find a gym that wants you as a customer, not another contract to fill.
EDIT:
I explicitly asked to be removed from One Life's membership system, AS I WAS NEVER A ONE LIFE MEMBER. I signed up for Sport and Health over two years ago, and transferred my contract to another business without informing me and continued to charge me $60/mo for a gym I never signed up for.
To add insult to injury, after asking them to remove me from their system, they're apparently still able to look up my data. Great--why did I pay you guys $300 to be removed, again?
Screw Sport and Health for selling my contract, and screw One Life for treating me like I signed a contract with them. Both of these businesses are more concerned with keeping you on their contracts than treating you with any respect.
DELETE MY DATA FROM YOUR SYSTEM, PLEASE AND THANK YOU.

Out of town guest that has a background in fitness management, physical therapy, customer service, and more. Management was contacted by husband about 1 week pass. Information was to be saved - Upon arrival front desk was great but confusing on 1 week pass vs 1 day. I contacted my spouse to see if we already paid. I then told the front desk girl the situation, and she aloud me to check out club. Coming from truly beautiful gyms in Chicago, Nashville, and San Antonio - I was in shock of how filthy, unorganized, and just depressing this place looked (nothing like the photos on the site). I thought, it's all good. I can make it work (Master Former Personal Trainer and Management and currently Physical Therapy). Then the Manager came out and asked, "Can I help you?" A bit hostile! I told her no I'm okay. She said, "No one is aloud to tour without an accompanied employee". I told her that the desk had me give my information and aloud for me to see the club as she did just the one day pass instead of the week I wanted (later she would make a deal that I put my name in backwards).
I de-escalated the managers hostility, and went along with her as I have PTSD with people that behave like her. I knew I just needed to get out. After she calmed down, I was able to get assistance and pay for the week pass. She said that it's just "scary" when someone walks in. I didn't just walk in and provided my ID and followed instruction. I tried not to think it but after I left my spouse who is a very important manager himself was disgusted. Walked back in after work and canceled the week pass. Upon doing this she told him to stay in her office while she went to the front to cancel it (again, hostile about the disarray of the gym - we know this tactic with management). She left people's signed checks and information for memberships all across the desk. She'd rather violate privacy actions instead of anyone step foot in this poorly managed gym.
So to all, know that your information is not in good hands. The gym has so many rules that you will feel like a child. I won't say it was racially motivated, but it definitely was a biased involved although I was dressed to the nines.
I immediately called my friend who is a regional manager for a well known gym. He was also disgusted, and agreed that he has heard of this gym and it's practices. It's all about SALES SALES SALES with not an ounce of luxury. Oh, and a guy literally walked across the gym to go to the pool half naked, and that somehow was fine. Stay away from this particular gym if you are ever in town. There are so many better ones in the area. The manager can be decent but is a hostile and nasty person to new or "different" people.

Not only does this gym have everything you need, the staff are super helpful and friendly. Zach helped my girlfriend and I get a joint membership that is more than reasonable for what they offer. He explained everything well and was able to answer all of our questions.
As for the gym, it’s surprisingly huge with 3-4 different weight rooms, treadmills, a few yoga/zumba studios, basketball court, 3 tennis courts on the roof and one inside with pickle ball, numerous racquetball and squash courts, full length salt water lap pool. They also have a men’s and women’s locker room each with steam room, sauna, hot tub and showers. This is all included at their base membership!!
I was a member of equinox in Bethesda which is great but for the price, joining one life is a no brainer. Way more to offer here at a fraction of the cost.
Thanks again to Zach and everyone there!!

I work in sales. This location has 0 foundation of service. My friend was begging me to join so we can workout together but after 1 day pass I was hesitant since I'm used to Lifetime & this facility is a lot smaller. Came back today to give it another chance and after filling out the forms they ask for my ID, handed it over and the front desk person told me to sit & wait. Asked why and requested my ID back but he refuses to hand it over! I waited & waited for the manager to finish whatever call he was on while my friend was upstairs looking down with confusion, this was complete childish treatment especially since I mentioned I've been here before. Paid the guest pass so my friend wouldn't be upset.. Anyway I came and was open to signing up but greeted so poorly and talked to so rude it completely shut down the chance.

I go to multiple gyms as I am a premier member. Member of multiple gyms for over 10 years. Today I was annoyed that the last couple of times I was ask about my membership tier before letting me use the massage chair. One time they ask to see my card so they could look me up. I am 59 year old black male. I also was told you I could use it only once per visit. This week I was waiting because both was in use. A lady ask to use again and the desk clerk let her while I was waiting. I watch while they let other people use it with no questions asked. Do I look like a lower Tier Member? What is it about me that I get asked about my membership while others don't. The clerks at the desk has been black and white and I would say above 30. I will continue to monitor and update accordingly.

This gym has gotten softer and softer over the past years. I pay a huge amount of money for my membership just for 90% of it to go to waste when they give pickle ball the court over basketball. If you’re gonna do pickle ball. Make the boomers go outside for once and give the kids who use the court for its purpose the time. Not only do they give pickle ball more time throughout the week they also randomly give pickle ball the courts for “events” on days when it should be basketball. Something’s gotta change soon or this gym will slowly lose its customers and the basketball court will turn into a retirement home. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE PICKLE BALL!

Solid gym. Has a great variety of equipment. Locker rooms and bathrooms are generally very clean. Come in during the early hours of the morning to have more space to yourself. Avoid going around the time the nearby high school finishes up for the day.
There are lights that illuminate a portion of the roof tennis courts so you can play outdoors at night.
If you forget your Gym ID you can still get in by using the app they have which is nice.

I’m not too happy here. I signed up online, paid dues, and after a week I couldn’t sign up on the app. You need the app to signup for classes and reserve poor lanes as I understand it. After a week I didn’t get anything in the mail and I called and I was told that I actually have to come in and have my picture taken. Just be aware you have to stay on top of this company. Also, they only offer year memberships and offer strict terms for leaving so it would be difficult to leave for poor customer service. I have a bit of buyers remorse but I guess I’ll stay for the year.

Update: I used this gym for near 2 years. It was pretty good when I first signed up, but over time, things went downhill. At the beginning, you could use all the different sections with your membership, but later they started saying you had to reserve some spots first. That wasn't a big deal for me because I mainly used the pools and went to Zumba classes.
But then, they started hiking up the membership fees by about 40% at different points, and at the same time, the quality of service went downhill fast. They made it mandatory to reserve pool time, and the dryers in the men's section were always on the fritz. The Zumba classes got so crowded, more than the capacity of salon. I hung on because the gym was super close to my house. But then they sprung the "two people per pool lane" rule on us, and that killed the joy of swimming. You had to be constantly aware of the other person in your lane to avoid any awkward situations.
Finally, I threw in the towel and asked them to cancel my membership. Their parting shot was telling me, "Sure, we'll cancel, but you still have to pay for this month and the next!" Believe me! They charged me one month in advance for goodbye!! I definitely regret the whole experience and the money I shelled out.

Be careful that they may update your membership in a sneaky way without your approval!
I’ve been a member of the Sports and health gym for 3 years in Tenleytown location, monthly membership fee of 40 bucks. Recently, I found out there was a charge of 85 dollar/month since last December for eight months! I thought that was a scammer and reported to my Bank.
Finally this month, when they failed to charge me again, they contacted me. It turns out that because I attend one class back in November last year in the Bethesda location, they went ahead to update my membership without my approval. Although they sent an email , CCed me. I overlooked the email, and thereby have never approved it in any manner. I clearly remember When I was told the Bethesda gym was a bigger one - signature membership that the membership fee would double, I immediately decided at the counter that no, I don’t wanna update my membership. But they still went ahead to update.
The charge title shows as US fitness, not one life fitness, while the charge to my other credit card shows one lift fitness when I paid for my personal trainer sessions. This is also why I thought the double charge was a scammer. Luckily my Bank protected me this time, but please be careful when you visit this location!

I’m a college student back home in bethesda for the summer. Only reason I chose one life is because it’s the closest one to me. This place is overcharging its customers. It is not worth the 80 dollars a month. The equipment isn’t great, and there is a lack of them. The weight room is small and has 4 benches. Not saying I can’t work out here at all, just that I shouldn’t be paying 80 dollars a month. Also, I can only go to the Bethesda one, I can’t go to any other one life. To put it into perspective, I go to school in Tampa. The gym I go to other than the rec in campus is Crunch fitness. It 10$ dollars a month and you are able to go to any crunch in Florida, and in addition have some great equipment and an abundance of them. I feel as if one life charges this amount because of all the classes and personal training it offers, but most college kids and highschool kids, which make up I’d say half of their customers, won’t ever use those amenities. There should be a cheaper option for people. 80 is crazy and they are blatantly taking advantage of the kids that have no where else to workout

Very friendly staff, but the squash courts are not well maintained. The lights flicker, the boards are uneven, the floors are slippery. Unfortunately they said they have no intention of fixing them anytime soon, all they could provide was dustsheets.
Unfortunately, I didn't look at the courts closer before I joined because I did not believe a company like OneLife Fitness would not maintain the courts, so it is my fault.
Beware of their cancelation policy, I paid a higher fee so I could be month to month and when I requested the cancellation I was told I still needed to give one full calendar month notice, so if you request a cancellation on the first day of the month effectively you are giving 2 months notice.

I too am guilty of not reading the fine print with regard to contract cancellation terms so beware. The women’s hot tub is a host of bacterial infections. Absolutely disgusting how the general public can get completely naked with groups of unknowns and share/spread a warmth of bodily secretions. If you’re into that, no problem. They clean the tub twice per week supposedly. The front desk wastes your time in that I asked a basic question about a class and was given a 3 minute runaround when ultimately this young man didn’t know the answer and could’ve just said that initially. The yearly maintenance fee members pay must be a corporate bonus as no improvements or luxuries have been added. The responses to reviews are cute, typical 9-5 worker in motion following a directive.

Unfortunately, after signing up, I skipped reading the small print which they half-heartedly attached at the bottom of the confirmation email in pdf form. Now, instead of paying $80 like I expected, I am stuck paying $400 since I was automatically signed up for a twelve month membership. I was dumb, I understand, but this felt a bit underhanded. At no point during the process of paying was I notified about signing up for a entire year's membership.

Bethesda Sport & Health is one of the best gyms I've ever worked out in during the past 45 years! Very professional, courteous and friendly staff, from the Front Desk to Mary Ann, the General Manager, to their trainers and professional cleaning crew. They've got so much to offer: more than 100 cardio machines (even 50+ during COVID times), lots of free weights, complete range of weight machines, tennis courts, basketball court, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub, etc. They're dedicated to providing a safe workout environment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are cleaning wipes, sprays, paper towels and hand sanitizer everywhere. Their professional cleaning crew is continuously cleaning all the machines and free weights. I felt completely safe and comfortable doing my regular workout of cardio, free weights and machine weights. I can't recommend Bethesda Sport & Health any higher than five stars, otherwise I'd give it six stars. It is one of the few bright spots during the COVID-19 pandemic because physical health and well-being is even more critical now.

Bethesda Sport&Health is a great "bang for your buy" when it comes to equipment and class offerings for the price in this area. I'm feeling disappointed as I'm realizing it comes at a cost to customer service. I have had a membership freeze for the past few months due to a lingering injury. I forgot to continue the freeze when it expired this month and was charged. The account manager was unable/ unwilling to offer a refund, as it is a week past the billing date. To me, this is surprising, and very disappointing as they are a large corporation.
To be honest, this incident put me over the edge from a string of unfortunate occurrences that left me feeling unvalued as a member. On another occasion, another member inappropriately approached and touched my back end in the weight area. I reported him, which opened an investigation. I am unclear of where this investigation went. I saw him in the gym the next week.

In the era of Covid, the Bethesda Sport and Health Club is the ideal club. As a transfer member from Crunch Metro, I was impressed with how much room there is to enjoy your own private workout. Covid compliant but relaxed with the full range of options from big beautiful wooden floors to have a great stretch, weight rooms with rubber floors, cross cable machines, a truck tire, abs in a few different ways, the best combination of new fitness options like crossfit style rubberbands, ropes and weighted balls to old school free weights and "machines" and a great attitude by everyone there. The management is friendly and professional and this is as well organized and run a club as has been my experience with years as a semi-pro athelete.
They have a pool, squash/racquet ball (schedule reserve on-line) courts fully glassed in and even a tennis court. Towels, flat screens, treadmills, stationary cycles etc...available always for your use. Rates for membership are fair and the best value for a big club in the DMV. They have Private Trainers that are real atheletes but great for beginners also. They come from varied sports backgrounds so their experience is diverse across disiplines to suit your fitness objectives. Rehab and returning to a gym after years away can be made easier with a trainer. Young atheletes preparing for the leap from high school to college can prepare here. Lots to get ready for.
This club seems big and complete in many ways.
Have a great visit...join.
Currently highly recommended.

My friend has raved about this gym for months. Pleading and making a case that this was the best gym in the DMV, with exceptional customer service. Unfortunately, I had a very negative experience when attempting to join the gym. The front desk did not live up to their "exceptional" customer service. When asking for the possibility of waiving the registration fee after receiving a promotional email, claiming "Join now for zero dollars down" I was met by a very unprofessional employee. After hearing such an offer was not being offered, I requested a day pass instead. In response, I received a condescending reply insinuating that my preference to a day pass was due to a lack of financial knowledge, in addition to calling me "stupid" for my decision. This encounter left me feeling degraded and extremely uninterested in ever returning to this gym.

I love this gym! It’s never crowded and I feel completely safe going in ever since COVID hit. Masks are required, temperatures are taken at the door and there’s a ton of sanitizing stations available!

I’ve been a member at Bethesda S&H for over 10yrs and absolutely love it. They are absolute professionals from top to bottom. The facility is always super clean and all the equipment is up to date. It’s super spacious and the amenities are great. Incredible value for an exercise facility, including a pool, tennis & racquetball courts, cardio, weights, hiit area. You couldn’t pay me to go somewhere else.
Their staff are consummate professionals and always there for their members. They helped me reach and exceed my fitness goals, and keep me motivate to strive for even greater heights! 12/10 I would recommend training here for all ages

I have been to some of the most beautiful clubs throughout the United States and Bethesda Sport & Health is by far one of the finest most well run and thoroughly furnished clubs in the country.
They have everything you could possibly imagine for your health and fitness needs, including an immense array of easy to use state of the art fitness equipment (machines, treadmills, stair masters, rowers, free weights, Pilates…), swimming pool, tennis/squash/racquetball courts, steam and dry sauna with finer touch amenities providing a relaxing comfort and special touch that makes me look forward to going to the gym.
In addition to the wonderful variety of workout options, what I personally love the most is the hospitality and graciousness of the staff. If I have a question or need assistance, the management and trainers are very knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about health and fitness and as a result I have learned a lot about my body and how to train and heal myself with intention.
Another life-changing feature is the vast line-up of fitness classes offered. These classes are worth their weight in gold as some of the best of the best fitness pros are teaching these great classes and it is all included in my membership. I revel in all of my experiences each and every day I go to the Bethesda S&H club and I would highly recommend all they have to offer to you as well!

I quit this gym a few months before COVID due to the cleaniness of the pool ( I swam past a large piece of spit one day) and the weight room being over crowded with gym equipment. There was no good flow to it in my opinion. There are better options in Bethesda.

Got my locker cut with pliers at 11 am. Got money and other things stolen from it. MaryAnn, the manager's response was "Shouldn't be using the lockers anyway" When everyone is using the men's locker. What a joke.

an okay gym. BUT: all too often there are no towels at all for those exercising on the main floor. As bad or worse: Hygiene doesn't seem to be uppermost in their minds, as cleaning off the exercise machines is, to say the least, very rare on the part of personnel. ALSO -- big ALSO -- dirty towels on the floor and used moist towelettes allowed to languish next to some of the exercise bikes. For the price of membership (fairly high), they could do better. And should!!!

The classes and staff are great but the women’s locker room is filled with mold and rust, especially the steam room. If you have any sensitivities to contaminants, I would stay away. It’s unfortunate because otherwise it would be a great club.

Nice people. Equipment is good. They have everything you need. The reason for the three stars is simple: the men's locker room bathroom had a STRONG urine odor throughout. It felt like you soiled yourself and were standing in it at all time...

I visited the gym with a 1 day guest pass as I don’t live in the area. Some things I liked about it:
The gym was very clean and has lots of stuff for everyone. Lots of different equipment that I hadn’t seen prior. It’s huge & would have been nice to have got a tour prior instead of wasting time and trying to find the weights.
A couple things that bothered me was I haven’t been in a gym that has trainers everywhere- good for the new gym goers but as someone who goes often it added to all the people just standing around. It reminded me a lot of a YMCA. Not a bad thing just not my type of gym.
Also I like gyms not freezing but how hot it was today was a bit much.

Bethesda S&H is an excellent place to workout. There is plenty of space and two stories - one just for cardio. Pricing is a bit high but that is more a testament to their quality.
Basketball courts are a little outdated, though. And when the place gets busy - it really gets busy. Parking may be a hassle as well. But overall, this is worth the membership if you are committed to keeping a consistent routine of going to the gym.

Very nice gym, great staff, kind trainers, can sometimes get insanely busy but once you start going you can figure out times when it’s not insane

For a commercial gym, Bethesda Sport&Health is not too shabby. The front desk staff is for the most part amiable. It offers more than enough cardio equipment. The weight area is packed fairly tight, but has the basics. Here are my suggestions for improvement in order of priority:
1) Proper barbell maintenance. Lube them up to prevent rust/optimize performance. Clean them thoroughly. After a session of squats, the region of my white t-shirt in contact with the bar will turn brown. I've been lifting 10+ years with no such problems previously.
2) Overnight Locker Access. With a $70 monthly membership, I don't expect to pay $60 monthly to rent a locker for overnight storage. Please offer a financially feasible option.
3) Personal trainer etiquette. For the most part, the personal trainers are friendly, respectful, and focused on their clients. Keep up the good work. One problem I have is that sometimes they will grab one of the weights off the rack/bench I'm using without asking first. One individual in particular - Caucasian male, earrings - consistently does so and appears visibly annoyed when asked not to take weights. Mutual respect - if you need a weight, it's ok to walk a bit further to find one not being used; let's not inconvenience patrons.
4) A/C. Please improve the cooling of the weight area via fans or A/C. The gym is too humid and quite frankly, hotter than any other gym I've been to.
5) Heavier dumbbells. 100 lb dumbbells are sufficient for most exercises, but I'd appreciate 110s-150s, even in 10 lb increments.
6) Towel access. These used to be stored in the locker rooms. Please return them there.
7) Fix broken mirrors. There are shards of glass in the weight area (particularly by the kettle-bells and deadlift platform) 2/2 broken mirrors that have not been repaired for 6+ months. I understand the deductible may be high on your insurance policy, but this is not one area to cut costs.
Thank you for your support and willingness to improve, Bethesda Sport&Health

Bethesda Sport & Health is all that you would expect from a larger full service gym. They have loads of classes, with great instructors, great machines in working order, and a fantastic lap pool. Additionally, the locker room feels like a spa with a sauna, steam room, and whirlpool. The whirpool
could be a little warmer and make sure to turn on the sauna ahead of time to make sure it is warm enough. Great gym!
