An absolute joke being charged a $10 "Cross Regional Surcharge" to use antiquated equipment.
I’ve been a premier member for 6 years and 8 months and had been to this studio previously in October 2021 and didn’t have to pay when the treadmills were newer.
I travel a lot for work and this studio wasn’t anything special to warrant the fee.

On this Tuesday, I signed both my Mom and I up to take a free class tomorrow Saturday June 14, 2025 at 10am at the College Park, MD location. They asked for a credit card to hold our reservation. They said I could call up to 8 hours if I need to cancel. I have been calling since 1 pm and leaving messages because I need to cancel. I’ve tried calling other locations and no one picks up the phone. I need them to cancel my reservation and not charge for my Mom or I. I can’t believe they are relentless at calling us and getting us to come in but would purposely miss calls so our cards can be charged a late fee because we didn’t “cancel” on time due to not being able to speak with someone.

BEWARE, READ CONTRACT THOUROUGHLY BEFORE SIGNING AS THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU THE TRUTH DURING THE SALE. Classic bait and switch scam. They tell you one thing to get you to sign the contract and then once signed, their story changes. They had the signing done right before a class, so didn't do a full review of the contract and trusted the employee's word. The employee, Leonela, who sold the promotion said to come in a few days before the end of the month to cancel, when going in to cancel it was, "Oh, I never said that you could cancel, it's in the contract that you'd be charged.
I told you you could downgrade. ". Completely untrue and totally unethical business practices!!

Orangetheory is a great gym — this location, on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired. I've been a member for almost 5 years now. I love the members and our sense of community with each other (not because this location facilitates anything). Equipment is always broken, there are minimal & inconsistent class options, and classes are canceled once you arrive for exhausting reasons and with little communication. Getting fit is complex and comes with many challenges. Navigating a poorly run studio should not be one of your challenges. The ever-rotating employee base, poor management, and what appears to be little support from higher-ups for this location (when you compare the care and services offered at other studios and even studios owned by this franchisee) have me ready to leave for a studio that will give me a gym worth the membership rate and fees.
05.25.25: I got the response below, but I am leaving without class as there is no coach and no prior communication. I also have not seen the head coach who was starting to make a positive impact. Which leads me to believe there is no head coach. The studio needs to be charged a large late cancellation or no-show fee.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Orangetheory, especially at the College Park location. I attempted to downgrade my membership tier but was denied because I was just one day late. Then, when I tried to cancel my membership, I was told I would still be charged for two full months beyond my cancellation request—again, due to that same one-day difference.
I reached out to both the studio manager and Orangetheory’s corporate support, but neither was willing to help or show any flexibility. This kind of rigid policy enforcement and lack of care for loyal members is unacceptable.
I won’t be returning to that location, and I will no longer recommend Orangetheory to friends, family, or anyone else.

My first time in and it felt like my home studio OTFBurlington!VT! They are welcoming, high energy, have a clean studio, and just vibrant atmosphere. Coach Gabe is pretty awesome. Great experience and great workout. Music selection was perfect. Warm and fuzzy (and a bit sweaty)

Update: it's been a while since I've experienced equipment malfunction. The staff is still really great. I really enjoy my workouts here.
I love Orange Theory. The coaches are great. But I'm disappointed that every time i go, there's equipment malfunction. Today, the coach's microphone wasn't working. My rower stopped working at the end, and my treadmill reset halfway through the workout. I tell my friends who go to other locations about this and they are shocked. They don't experience these problems.

The coaches are great but the facilities and management need improvement. Machines are broken longer than other studios, too many waitlists not to warrant 3G classes, management never around during the full morning classes, no location incentives or events, and today, no lights. 😟

We visited the college park location for the first time today and we were so impressed with the staff and the overall vibe. Everyone was so welcoming and they were super accommodating and even had an app already set up to make it more accesible for my deaf partner. Maria was a phenomenal coach, we will definitely make the trip out here to take a class again.

I have been a member at the College Park, MD location since June 2021. OrangeTheory has become part of my weekly routine. The coaches are excellent; the sense of community amongst members is exciting. I especially love the challenges and signature workouts. They are so motivating. I feel strange when I miss class and attendance has become vital to my mental health. I’ve gotten stronger and faster! Love you 6:15am crew!

My wife and I joined a little over a month ago and it was a great decision. We wanted to lose weight, get stronger, and have fun doing it all. OrangeTheory has definitely helped with our goals. Our home gym is the College Park location, but the membership allows us the flexibility to workout at any other location (although there may be an additional charge, but MD locations are all the same price). The staff and coaches are all great and super friendly. Book a class with Coach Rashad - you will not be disappointed!

I love the environment & the coaches at my home location. They are genuinely good people and super nice and full of information. I also love the difference variety of workouts that we get. The community is unmatched. I love the challenges, as well as the events where we can just come together and talk and get to know each other. I recommended Orangetheory to just about all of my friends, and I will continue to recommend it!

I joined wanting to get stronger and in a few short months I am feeling stronger. The manager Maria is wonderful and I am impressed that in a few month she knew my name and showed concerned about me. Most of the instructors show alternative if they see you struggling before you ask. Great place to workout.

This deserve -10. I wanted to cancel my membership because i was moving and nobody told me about the 30 days notice so i was forced to pay an extra month, then i had to leave the country for 3 weeks because i lost my father in Africa, came back, called them to pay and make sure i was getting the classes left but i still didn’t want to continue with my membership. I was told on the phone that it would be fine. Now when i went to the studio, the manager is bassically telling my in order to keep going with the cancellation i won’t be able to have those classes unless i stop the cancellation and pay for an extra month then cancel. Tried to tell her that wasn’t the same information i received plus i had death in my family that i had to go for a month. She basically told me she didnt care.
It is clear that they will tell you anything to get your money then change their mind. Event happen in life that are out of our control.

OTF is a great fit for me. I don't have to plan a routine, or a route, or a playlist. All I need to do is show up and every day is a new challenge. The coaches are fantastic and support me to push myself and progress in my fitness journey. Realtime heart rate monitoring gives me instant feedback, and I feel energized at the end of even the hardest workouts. Finally, I really appreciate how welcoming, inclusive, supportive, and positive the OTF community is without being over the top. Highly recommend for anyone like me who isn't independently self-motivated to exercise.

I share a similar experience to the person below I reached out through their website and hear nothing then I get calls about payment when already I reached out in advance about cancellation and crickets. Then I get these passive aggressive text emails about paying but nothing about the cancellation form I asked about before the roll over date. I ended up paying anyways because conveniently they don't "have that email" which is crazy since they have everything else 🙄 not worth trying out unless you know for a fact you'll be committed!

The Worst! I am very disappointed!
They scam you into story how you can get one month free and they say there is 100% Quit guarantee. But there is a catch. What they don’t tell you is that there is 30 days written cancellation notice. Which doesn’t make any sense, if I am on my first month trial, what I should right the way say: “by the way, let me give you cancellation notice” Come on OT 😃.
Another thing they say I was supposed to have at least 12 trainings in order to be eligible to Quit free guarantee. NO BODY mentioned that when I signed up.
So basically now they want to charge me for the membership which I don’t want. I reach out before my first month ended and I say that I want to cancel because I am traveling and they are saying I need to pay for a month since I didn’t have 12 trainings.
If I need to rate trainings it 3 out of 10. Coaches are there but you are on your own. Don’t Waist your money!
This is a Scam! Not a gym!

I am very disappointed in the service from this location. As a new member, there is a lot of rules and regulations that I was not aware of. As a business it is important to provide clients with outstanding service. Part of outstanding service is providing grace to clients. First lateness shouldn’t be treated so unfairly. While that may be the policy, it is important that we communicate messages in a respectful way/tone. The manager of this location was rude. I then asked to cancel my membership, with no hesitation she asked me for my information. This location doesn’t care about people. If you are looking for a positive community, this location is not it.

Monique the manager at hyattsville orange theory Maryland is very rude and very unhelpful in dealing with customers. I also feel the better business bureau need to look into the business policy/practices as they are far from being a fair business practice. There are no reasonable consideration provided to customers at all. I am being forced to pay a full months bill in the future even though I was trying to initially freeze for two months which would be enough time to give my 30 day cancellation notice if I should choose to go that route. Keep in mind I was already made to pay for two months that I had not stepped a foot in the gym for because they threatened to send me to collection as my card declined. I called to have them process the two payments of $189 per outstanding payment and have my account frozen for 60 days for $15 a month. The lady I spoke with stated she did not know how to process the payments for the outstanding 2 months and freeze but had already charged my new card provided as we were speaking, for a full month even after I explained what l was trying to pay for. My card was then charged for another month the same day which I assumed naturally would have covered my outstanding 2 months. She asked me to reach out the next day to speak to her manager Monique. I explained I did not want to get an additional charge because of that. She emailed me a freeze form. I filled the freeze form emailed to me and sent it in even though the lady seemed clueless as to how to process my outstanding payments and a freeze for my account .The manager emailed back the next day acknowledging my freeze form. About 5 days later another $189 was charged to my card for another full month and when I spoke to the manager she said I had a declined payment for a 3rd month and I missed it by 1 day. Even though I called then on my payment day ( 2nd of the month and they were clueless as to how to process the payments. Then I asked to cancel my account with orange theory entirely because they said I still have to pay another $189 for another full month and then fill a 30 day cancellation form. This is almost $800 for no services what so ever. Orange-theory is horribly difficult to cancel your membership. This is not a fair practice. They need to do a better job at communicating that part and Ontop of that the manager was rude and hung up on me while I was trying get her to listen to what I was saying. I also wonder why the first voicemail/ communication I get about my account is to threaten collection and not an explanation of all this forceful bills. I will not be recommending orange theory to any friend or family as they have left a bad taste in my mouth and I feel duped.

I tried OTF years ago and absolutely hated it - I swore up and down that I'd never do it again. I decided to give it another try after I started exercising regularly and it was a completely different experience. I love the coaches, front desk staff, the varying ability levels (and sizes) of the members. The coaches push me and I love that every day is something different. I talk about how much I'm addicted to anyone who will listen and try to convince all my friends to just try it once!

I love Orangetheory Fitness College Park. The front desk staff and coaches are very friendly. The coaches genuinely care about your fitness goals and always check in with you. The front desk staff are very welcoming.
I started out taking lululemon drop in session back in 2019. Got serious and got an Elite membership in April spring of 2021.
I love OTF so much that I transitioned from a member to an employee this past October 2021. The College Park community is the best. I’m currently working at the Rockville studio but have plans to bring it back home to the College Park Studio. Keep doing what y’all doing OTF College Park and Happy New Year!

I have just begun month six and this place feels like my second home. OT offers a challenging fitness experience and realtime feedback which comes from your peers who are working out next to you on their own personal bests and the OT heart monitor which helps to keep pushing you to your next threshold. I have been to two other OT locations out of state and the College Park location wins with the kindest, most motivating, compassionate, and skillfull instructors with playlists that make you move like you're getting down in club (having fun) rather than a standard fitness class (which might be a little more boring). Along with the instructors, OT administrative staff are extremely helpful, kind and accommodating and fosters a gym experience that feels inclusive, empowering, while also personal and uniquely challenging for each individual that walks in.

I was a member of this gym for a month and enjoyed the coaches and workout. I cancelled my membership, however, after my wife (another member) had several items stolen from her locker while she was in class. The front desk attendant let an unauthorized person into the studio to use the bathroom, did not supervise them and allowed them to steal the personal items of several members.
Apart from the completely preventable nature of the incident itself, the reaction from the studio management was poor. Instead of reaching out and checking to see if she was OK of if there was anything they could do, there was silence. None of the other members were notified of the incident or the increased risk. They refused to offer a couple months of complimentary membership to try and compensate for the financial losses my wife suffered, aside from the major inconvenience caused by replacing stolen items and subsequent identity theft by the burglar. In an industry where customer service is key the response was rather tone-deaf.

First- I really hate the fact that I have to leave this 1 star review.
The coaches here are truly incredible and this review does not reflect them at all.
On Aug. 13, 2021 during the 8:45 am class the studio was robbed.
My wallet along with other member's belongings were stolen.
During the class the front desk associate let a person in off the street to use the bathroom. The associate did not pay attention to what this person was doing. They ransacked the locker area and robbed a few members including myself.
The front desk associate should have been fired, however they still have their job.
The police were called and a report was filed.
*The studio manager Gina (who is barely ever at the studio) never contacted me to see how I was doing. In fact, I had to reach out to her several times until I could speak to her. She wasn't able to offer me anything. So, I spoke to the regional manager, Katrina. Katrina backed Gina up. She also offered me nothing.
*Yes, I signed a membership agreement stating that the studio isn't responsible for any of my belongings- I get that. What I needed was peace of mind, I needed to feel valued and they were not able to offer that to me.
*Warning to members- Do not bring any belongings into the studio.
The front desk staff is not properly trained. The management doesn't know what customer service looks like. They lack compassion, and they absolutely do not care about their members, we are just a monthly payment to them.
When my card was declined because it had been stolen in the studio, the regional manager threatened to send me to collections if I didn't pay up.
I asked for 2 things to gain my trust and to keep me as a member:
-Notify members of the robbery and suggest locking up belongings (no one does)
-Offer me 3 months of complementary membership to help me offset my loss (which was totally preventable if they trained their staff)
I was told NO, and then I was threatened directly by Katrina, the regional manager that she would be sending me to collections for my FUTURE membership payment. How heartless is that?
Completely unprofessional, completely tone-deaf.
AVOID this studio at all costs.
I love Orange Theory, I love the workout. I moved my home studio elsewhere.

On August 13th I was visiting the college park area and being a member of Orangetheory in a different state I decided to take a class at the OTF College Park location. While in the class, the desk person let out side non members come in and go past the desk and to the locker area. There are no locks on any lockers because the members think only members are allowed in this area. They went into lockers and stole 3 purses, one was mine one was my daughter’s and 1 was another members. I understand that OTF college park is not liable. That’s not the point. A simple phone call or a email to appogize, would have ment everything to me. But to this day, I have not heard a word. My daughter who was a member at this location has been treated so rudely by management. This location is not safe and are very rude. I will never recommend this location. Bad Bad Bad….

So, I went through their entire website to learn about their system. Everything looked pretty good so I clicked on the membership option to see the pricing. Even though they have all the options listed on their website but there is no information on the pricing. So, I called in, a girl picked up, when I asked about the pricing for each option, she kept insisting me to take a "Free class" instead of answering my question! When I asked why she keep avoiding my question, she said they only discuss the pricing "in person" after their trainer's recommendation on how many classes you need to achieve your goal!? My question is, why do I have to be there in person, take that "free class", and listen to your trainer to find out how much it will cost me? What if I already know how many sessions I need (those are posted on your website)? What if I know exactly what I need and how to get there? What if I'm a former military trainer, who's not worried about "Goals" and just looking for a place to get some HIIT workout done? Or do you guys just assume that, everyone that contacts you are struggling with their weight/health, have no clue what to do, and are looking for guidance (so that you guys can push them to purchase the most profitable "workout sessions" for you guys)? What are you hiding? All I was trying to find out is the pricing for each option that is listed on the website. The answer could have been so simple! I got interested in this place because they have such a high rating on Google. But honestly, after all of that, now I feel like this is probably the shadiest gym that I have ever encountered. Not joining them.

I signed up for my first OTF class @ College Park on 03/29/2019. The parking situation isn't bad... There's a parking garage directly behind the studio. There was no charge at the time. I walked in and was immediately greeted at the front desk. Orchid and Madison B were working at the time. Customer service at is studio is definitely a 10/10. I was very satisfied. Both Orchid and Madison B were very helpful and answered all my questions as this class was maybe my second or third OTF class ever. They educated me on the heart rate monitors, etc.
This was my first class with Coach Brittany. I loved it! Brittany is so enthusiastic and her energy vibes off so well! She also teaches at the Potomac studio. I'm a big fan of her teaching so I tend to take her classes mostly.
This studio opened in January, so it's very neat and clean. Compared to the Potomac studio, it's definitely a lot more spacious.
Overall I was highly satisfied at this studio with help of Orchid and Madison B., and coach Brittany. I'll definitely recommend this studio to anyone!
