This review should have been made over a month ago - but I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about the Olney OTF and their staff! Sabrina at the desk was super welcoming to my best friend and I, because she knew we were coming from NJ to visit. And Coach Diego, WOW!! What a sweetheart!! From the hospitality, shoutout, and abundance of pics we took, I would recommend this location to anyone!! Can’t wait to visit again!

Stay away from Orange Theory in Olney, Maryland. They will take your money and they will not refund it. Sydney told me she would call about a month ago regarding the refund. Not only did they not issue a refund, but they keep on charging my credit card. Bad business practices - Please stay away!

To say that Orange Theory changed my life is an understatement; I've always had issues with consitancy when it comes to working out, this all changed September 2022 when I had my first class with OTF; I had no idea what I was doing, but coatch Tammy, coatch Allyson, former coatch Brigget are always there to help, support, and guide me; I switched to unlimited membership after 2 weeks only, I do minimum of 3 classes per week; I look forward to each and every class, it's my happy place, I'm byeond greatful I found you OTF.

I have only been coming for 3 weeks, but I love so many things already and always look forward to going. I love that the workouts are pre-designed, so I don’t have to plan an effective workout for myself. I love having a coach/trainer around to help ensure my form is correct and to reduce the chance of injury. I love the group dynamic to keep me motivated throughout the workout. Lastly, I really love the friendly and welcoming environment at the Olney, MD location. I’m getting exactly what I need at the moment through Orangetheory: efficient, effective and data driven (to help me track progress) workouts and have already recommended to several friends to try it out for themselves.

** Do NOT join **

06/21: Per the promotion, I joined as an Elite Member (8 classes per month) for $129.00/monthly, to be billed on the 21st of every month.

06/23: Attended my first class at the OrangeTheory in Rockville.

07/08: Attended my first class at the OrangeTheory in Park Potomac.

09/04 & 10/03: OrangeTheory Charged my credit card on file for the $129.00/monthly membership. I never received correspondence from OrangeTheory as to why the billing date has changed.

10/06: Attended my last class at the OrangeTheory in Rockville.
10/07: Attended my last class at the OrangeTheory in Park Potomac.

11/01: Emailed OrangeTheory, requesting to cancel my membership and requesting directions for the next steps. An OrangeTheory personnel responded and told me that I needed to FWD the email to their manager and that the manager would take care of it for me. I FWD the email over to the manager.

11/04: OrangeTheory Charged my credit card on file for the $129.00/monthly membership. Contacted my credit card and informed them that I had sent an email to OrangeTheory, requesting the cancellation. Thought that they had billed me accidentally. My credit card company provided me with the credit back to my account.

11/23: Received a phone call from OrangeTheory. The personnel stated that she was calling because she noticed that I haven’t taken a class for three (3) weeks, and she wanted to know if she could book a class for me. I informed her that I was at the airport, on my way out of the country, and that I was confused since I’d sent an email requesting to cancel my membership.

11/27: Still out of the country, I received an email from Cassandra Lansing, the studio manager at the OrangeTheory in Rockville. She informed me that they did not have any records of my cancellation form and that if I was unable to provide the cancellation form, then they needed to chargeback to be paid. I informed her of my situation (I’m planning on splitting my time between the states and Europe and that I wouldn’t be able to utilize my membership). I never heard back from anyone after I'd FWD the email to the studio manager.

11/30: Cassandra informed me that they needed a thirty (30) day notice and that a cancellation form needed to be signed and sent to their studio in Rockville. She reiterated that they where never aware of the cancellation and I needed to pay $129.00; otherwise, they will not provide the cancellation form for me to fill out and complete. If they don’t receive a cancellation form, then they will consider my account active and they will continue to bill me. I wanted the cancellation form first to review prior to remitting any payment. OrangeTheory refused to provide the forms unless I pay the $129.00 first.

12/04: OrangeTheory charged my credit card on file for the $129.00/monthly membership. They changed their name from "OrangeTheory Rockville" to β€œOTF Rockville” in order to run the unauthorized charged. This was disputed.

12/13: Received an email from OrangeTheory thanking me for my β€œrecent in-studio charge.” The charge is in the amount of $139.00, to be charged on 01/04/23. I never authorized nor did I agree to this.

12/14: Received a letter from Kinum informing me that they’re a debt collection company and that they’re trying to collect a debt for $129.00 owed to OrangeTheory. The letter was dated 12/05/2022.

The interaction felt like they were trying to extort me for money first before they would release the form to me. Similar to other former members, I've filed a report against this OrangeTheory to the Consumer Protection Division, Federal Trade Commission, Maryland Attorney General, and Better Business Bureau.

According to another former member, this OrangeTheory and the location in Rockville are under the same management.

Front office terrible. Lied to me about putting my account on pause vs cancelling and the associated charges. What they did broke the contract but still stated that I owed them for cancelling. Tried to contact the manager for weeks, never could get him to call me back and then they proceeded to send me to collections...

One of the worst predatory experiences I've had.. Shame as the instructors are great

OTF Olney gives me the best workout I’ve ever had… and it’s the only place I’ve ever stayed committed to long term. I’m addicted!
I love that it goes by fast, I don’t have to think, and before I know it I had a full body workout. I love how the coaches are super positive but also push me to work harder than I EVER would on my own. I love the HR monitor & the summary at the end. OrangeTheory is "Me against Me"; varied and engaging. I think that TAMMY in particular is an excellent coach/trainer/instructor that is always tuned into members of the class and is outstanding. I am seeing great results and need to go harder :). As a physician I am impressed that the methodology is sound, safe and practical for all fitness levels. The combo of cardio and strength just works; I doubted that I would get a good strength workout but I was wrong! Very impressed and pleased.

Terrible communication. They will charge you for classes not used. They are not understanding and do not care for customers. Their manager acts nice and compassionate but unfortunately it’s a front.

Also if you are a health care employee during Covid with busy schedule, I don’t recommend this place they will not work with you. During signing they will act nice and understanding but like many gyms it’s a front, except this place charges more than the market.

I'm constantly amazed that at my age (67) I have become able to sustain a 60 minute relatively intense work out. After 3 months (after starting again after Covid) I'm starting to notice the weight loss and increased stamina. What do I like about the workout? Love the coaches. They know who I am, what I'm capable of and push me to work harder. (but very lovingly,)My husband, who goes with me, says he hates it. But he's the first one to remind me that we have to sign up for our next classes. And he insists on going even when his knee is hurting or he's tired from working on our farm.

I have been trying to reach the studio manager for the last 3 weeks. I have sent several emails and received No responses from them. I showed up in person TWICE to cancel my membership and the staff kept telling me that the manager will call me back but noone calls me. I love how I don’t have to think about my workout before getting to orange theory. Once I’m there, I just do the workout my coach tells me to do and then I’m done! I no longer have to stress about what workout I’m doing, if the gym is going to be too crowded, or if a particular machine/area is going to be unavailable. It makes working out easier and much less stressful! And I absolutely adore the coaches at OTF Olney. I usually take Matt, Fara, and Phillip and their music and motivation are exactly what I need every single time! I drive an extra 15 minutes to get to their studio when I have one much closer to my house JUST because the instructors at olney and the front desk staff are that much better at their location. I love that the workouts are different everyday, and I’ve seen awesome results!

The workouts here are amazing and I've never experienced the same workout twice. Overall the staff is great; trainers (❀ Brittany) and front desk (❀ Christina). Some trainers are a little less to be desired; I'm not exactly motivated by overtly pushy sometimes insulting trainers.

Now to my reason for the 3 star rating and canceling my $169 a month membership.

OTF Olney isn't always service oriented; example
- if you register for a class and no show or don't cancel 8 hours in advance, you pay for it (in my case $12) and honestly avoiding the fee motivates me, so that's fear.

- what I most certainly did not know is that showing up 5 or 10 minutes late means, no entry into a class you hauled ass out of bed or work for, drove 20 plus minutes and circled round for parking (parking SUCKS) AND STILL get no entry AND charged a $12 fee.

- the policy seems to be enforced randomly depending on who's at the front desk because there's been plenty of times where people have walked into classes 15 minutes into a workout. Today i was given some arbitrary reason about workout hazard for why i was denied entry. I call total BS because we don't warm up EVER.

- im leaving because if you have a life then these policies won't work and to be so inflexible is mindblowing at $169 a month plus these stupid fees for arriving "too late". Not only that; this a lot of money to pay for a fitness membership that doesnt incorporated nutrition.

- it appears that each club make up their own policies regarding late/cancel fees becsuse the club my friends club in Jersey has yet to charge her a late fee for canceling out of the 8 hour time period πŸ™„

Great workouts, great trainers, great facility (less parking), but not service oriented. You need to be more flexible...

Unbelievably rude! I recommended this place to my wife. She had tried an Orange Theory in TX over two years ago (and didn't hide that fact) but wanted to try this location before signing up. They took her through the orientation and let her start the class but then pulled her out of the class accusing her of having already done a free class in Clarksburg (which she hadn't). I guess they didn't believe her because they told her she had to pay $28 or leave. Needless to say she left.

It's ok. The location is great and staff are great. However, Orange Theory is expensive and their system is made to cost you. You'll pay around a $100 a month. You lose paid visits when you don't use them, no carryover. The best times for going are often booked. Then you need to buy one of their heart monitors if you want to see how you're doing. They provide it free during your trial and don't mention it until you sign up. Then if you want to cancel you need to give them at least a months notice.

If you need someone to motivate you and your flexible and coat isn't an issue then Orange Theory might be what you need.

The thing I like the most was the team atmosphere. Other people were cheering me on because it was my first time that builds a certain Camaraderie. The coaches I see regularly, JT and Jamel, know how to make sure everyone's having a good time and that everyone's doing the exercises properly and safely.

I love Orange Theory and the concept of the workouts. The heart rate monitor, splat points, and calories burned are all great ways of measuring performance and progress. The coaches at Olney are amazing, they provide great knowledge and create a fun environment to work out at. I have always been physically active but one thing I have learned since I started going to OTF is that there is always room for improvement and to push harder. The classes are always challenging but fun, and quite rewarding once it's done :)

Forces you to work hard - without being militant or perky. Nothing worse than perky militants. Definitely recommend!

I've been to several OTF studios and this is definitely my top favorite!
1) Workouts
The workouts are always super challenging, but yet doable. There's never been a moment where I find myself thinking that the workout is too easy. They always kick my ass and I love it! I'm always burning between 500-700 calories during each class. I love how we're given several variations of some of the exercises to select from depending on our capabilities. Since I have pretty messed up shoulders, this is crucial for me. No matter how old you are or what shape you're in, you can excel here!
2) Staff
The staff at OTF Olney is so incredibly welcoming and friendly! I swear, every single person who works there have always been so kind and helpful. They've always been able to help me out with any issues I've had and they're always very diligent about it. They always happily greet you as soon as you walk in and it's so infectious that it somehow causes you to instantly forget your daily life stress. This is especially true for Jeff and Christina. These two are such gems! Aside from the fact that they have this uncanny ability to remember practically everyone's name, they also take a genuine interest in their members. They get on a personal level with them and that approach really makes OTF stand out. I also love how OTF Olney sometimes organizes events outside of the class for members, which is pretty awesome as it provides an opportunity for people to get to know each other and establish new friendships. Who doesn't like making new friends!
3) Coaches
Most of the classes I take are with Phil so I'll start off with him even though I know I will not be able to fully capture how extraordinary he is as a coach. One thing that I LOVE is that he never allows anyone to do an exercise improperly. Once he catches someone doing something wrong, he immediately goes up to them and corrects their technique or shows them a different exercise if they're facing limitations. He does this in a way that people can really appreciate and grow from and at the same time not ever feel self-conscious or embarrassed. It's great to have a coach with an approachable personality that allows people to feel comfortable and not be afraid to ask for help or share a concern. And a skill that Phil has clearly mastered is the ability to motivate. He has such a talent for being to pump people up throughout the class, especially when they're starting to get really tired. I actually really appreciate it when he catches me slowing down and encourages me to keep moving. I may not be the strongest or fastest, but I'm the type of person who needs that extra push from my coach because that's the only way I can improve. Phil also puts a lot of value in getting to know his class and getting feedback regarding what everyone liked and didn't like about the workout. He's also really good at perfectly timing everything so that we're constantly moving...and not dying on the treadmill. Last thing, great taste in music.

Another coach whose classes I've taken a few times and really enjoyed is Mello. I have to say this - his music taste is bomb af. Not really a coach skill, but it merits recognition. Mello is an incredible coach who knows how to motivate and guide his class. He has this positive attitude that encourages people to want to do better. One thing he did that I will never forget is when he helped me with this really painful cramp I suddenly experienced on my hip while doing a workout. When I approached him with this problem and told him that I might have to leave the class, instead of just letting me leave, he told me to get a mat and to stay so that he can stretch out my hip. As he was stretching me out, he was also giving out instructions to the class and keeping track of the time. I was astonished at how he showed immediate care and concern for my well being. I was even able to continue the rest of the class without any pain. Now that's what I call quality coaching!

Alright, I think that's enough ass kissing. OTF Olney, thank you for being awesome!
