I have tried to come here 3 times now, once with classpass and twice with the intro week offer. I only managed to actually get into a class once. The two times I was turned away, the front desk referenced the “liability” created by late arrivals. No other studio I’ve ever been to has been so uptight and unaccomodating. It’s yoga. Give me a literal break. I was turned away the first time despite being on time because of the 10 minutes early new client policy or whatever. I’m familiar with how to use reformers and the registration takes literally 3 minutes. I was turned away again for being 7 minutes late after coming as early as I possibly could after a long workday, enduring rush hour traffic, and struggling to find parking. I was honestly looking forward to the class all day and seven minutes late was the best I could do. People come to these classes to unwind, not to be snubbed and have their time wasted. At this point, this studio has wasted 3 hours of my life with cruel disappointment. Also, who in their right mind would be bothered by someone else coming into a workout class late? It’s never that serious. I genuinely don’t understand how this studio is still in business, because the one class I did manage to get into was mid. I certainly will never be getting a membership.

Everyone was very nice! We had bought a package deal BOGO but it expired within 5 days and we live over an hour away, and they voluntarily extended it to give us an extra 2 weeks to find a class we could come back for so we didn’t loose our free one!

I love taking classes at Pilates House. The instructors have great energy, and the classes always flow so well. I love how my body feels after classes, whether it’s a reformer class or a hot class. Big bonus is that the studio is so aesthetically pleasing. The design is simple and neutral, a very clean look. Which is nice when you’re just trying to focus on your workout! Overall great experience.

I have been going to PH for a year now and love it! The teachers are phenomenal and challenging. Everyone is tremendously welcoming and open to teaching people at all levels which is great for bringing friends to class. All friends that have come to try pilates for the first time have loved their experience (teachers were always happy to demonstrate the machines beforehand). Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Very nice Pilates studio. I took a hot mat class and also a traditional Pilates reformer class. Both were excellent. My instructor for the reformer class was Paige and she was great at explaining everything and leading a awesome class that was challenging and well thought out. Highly recommend for the fitness enthusiast who are living Fells point or just visiting.

I absolutely love Pilates House. Since I’m pregnant, I can’t take the hot class, but the Cardio Core class has been such a perfect alternative. It’s challenging in all the right ways, keeps me feeling strong, and still gives me that amazing post-workout high. The instructors are so encouraging and always offer modifications, making me feel supported and confident throughout my pregnancy. The space is beautiful, the energy is uplifting, and every class leaves me feeling better than when I walked in.

As a visitor to Baltimore, I had a very disappointing experience with this facility. I arrived just 3 minutes late, rushing and trying to find the location, only to be met with rigid front desk staff and a strict late policy that wasn’t clearly communicated beforehand. Every other place I’ve been to offers at least a 5-minute grace period, especially for new clients.
If you’re a new mom or postpartum, I strongly advise reconsidering this facility! the staff was not accommodating, not understanding, and certainly not welcoming. For a place that should be focused on care and support, this was the opposite. Very unhelpful and frustrating experience.

My second hot yoga class ever (and the first was 15 years ago). Lindsay was an amazing instructor. She gave great direction, which was important to a rookie like me who doesn’t know any poses by name. Very inviting space, super friendly staff, and very collegial atmosphere amongst the participants. I will go back!

Through Pilates House's windows, natural light illuminates students on reformer machines while Fells Point's waterfront tells a different story—Baltimore's 23.1% poverty rate, nearly double the national average, and a racial wealth gap where white households earn almost twice what Black households do.
The second-floor studio's infrared-heated sessions attract professional women forming what founder Penny Lane calls a "Chief Vibe Officer" community. Like most hot power vinyasas, classes focus on physical conditioning, though certain instructors incorporate breathwork and subtle adjustments distinguishing this hybrid practice from traditional yoga.
While pricing remains unpublished, entry options like "The House Special"—two classes for $30—and ClassPass availability suggest $15-20 per session. This relatively accessible pricing creates interesting dynamics in a city of deep economic disparities. The predominance of monthly members points to committed clientele integrating practice into routines.
The retail boutique reveals aspirations sold alongside sessions: gold-framed displays of strappy sports bras and high-waisted leggings in blacks, browns, beiges. Yet actual class attire—vibrant pinks, practical full-coverage tops, loose-fitting alternatives—suggests practitioners have negotiated their own relationship with studio aesthetics.
This disconnect reflects broader Baltimore tensions. While Pilates House cultivates "sisterhood" through shared blocks, towelettes, and instructors participating as students, it operates where Black residents face unemployment rates three times higher than whites and neighborhoods lack basic amenities.
The space bridges industrial past and aspirational present. During daytime classes, sunlight creates warmth connecting practitioners to streetscapes. Infrared panels supplement rather than dominate. Utilitarian changing areas—wooden benches, metal lockers—strip away pretense, revealing functional reality beneath lifestyle branding.
Fells Point embodies contradictions. Once home to Black communities demolished for "slum clearance" in the 1930s, the neighborhood defeated highway development in the 1970s only to face steady gentrification. Today, median incomes significantly exceed Baltimore's average while traditional bars yield to Atlas Restaurant Group properties and Starbucks.
The studio's progressive elements—workshops on pelvic floor health connecting breath to "orgasm and pleasure"—exist alongside retail displays emphasizing crop tops that inadvertently objectify bodies they claim to celebrate. This tension between empowerment and constraint runs throughout, from "legs will shake, abs will burn" marketing to genuine community formed through shared practice.
What distinguishes Pilates House is how predominantly female teaching staff creates authentic connections despite commercial pressures. Instructors joining classes as students breaks hierarchies, fostering genuine sisterhood within boundaries of class and aesthetic expectation. Excellent natural light during morning sessions creates transcendent quality temporarily dissolving urban anxieties.
The "Sweat & Reform" membership, providing access to Fells Point and Federal Hill locations, suggests expansion beyond the original enclave. Yet this growth exists in sharp relief to surrounding Baltimore. While practitioners focus on breath in sunlit studios, neighborhoods blocks away grapple with blight, food insecurity, and generational poverty.
In a city where Johns Hopkins and Under Armour drive development displacing longtime residents, Pilates House represents the complex face of gentrification—offering genuine community while participating in economic forces reshaping Baltimore's neighborhoods. The mix of drivers and walkers creates momentary diversity, yet infrared heat supplementing sun-filled classes cannot reach deeper structural inequalities keeping much of Baltimore in the cold, making this wellness oasis both refuge and reminder of the city's persistent divides.

Ive been attending Pilates House for 2 months now and i wish i could give more then 5 stars. From day 1 walking in i have felt such a warm welcome and never once felt out of place. Taking 2 classes ultimately led me to getting a membership which was the best decision ever. The instructors are truly amazing! Val, Alex, and Ashley in the hot room are awesome, dont get me wrong its super intense but worth it! Front desk ladies are always welcoming and smiling. Special shout out to Heidi she is truly the sweetest person ever!

Great studio, horrible communication. I tried to upgrade my membership, but was told I need to wait till the end of my billing cycle because they couldn’t change it in the middle of it. I reached out to the sales manager five days before the end of my billing cycle she only replied once over the five day period. When my billing cycle came, I was charged for the eight class pack and not the mega membership. I will be going elsewhere solely based off the fact they cannot communicate.

As someone who has been to many Pilates Sudios I feel if you are a size 0-4 you'd be very uncomfortable here. As much as the front desk wants to be nice once you get into a class especially as a minority you will be uncomfortable and not greeted or spoken to. It's very sad that in 2024 you are treated as such if you don't fit the mold. I would never return here again

I found Pilates house on Class Pass. I was extremely excited to start this new fitness journey . I signed Up for the core class that was scheduled for 530 pm . I arrived exactly @530 , and was greeted by Malineh who quickly turned me away because she explained that I am Not a member and needed to arrive atleast 10 mins prior to create an account , so technically i was late ! AT 530 !! (apparently members have a 5 min grace period ) .
You guys it only takes 1 min to create an account and sign the waiver . At this point I’m a member , so @ 533 she still proceeds to say that I will Not able to take the class today and that she’s unsure of how i will get my credit back from class pass !
I honestly felt very unwelcomed by Malineh nonchalant attitude , and very disappointed and frustrated because I traveled A while to get to This class !

I don’t go personally as it just has a wonderful vibe, and I’m not trying to ruin that. Full disclosure, they are more than welcoming, I don’t go due to their group classes as a personal choice.
However I have setup classes for others. Pro-tip, if you get her some classes and maybe met her with a nitro cold brew from Ceremony for a little post class hot girl walk, and she doesn’t call you back, you were never in the game anyway😘

Went to my first class at Pilates house today and I had a great experience!! The studio space is beautiful and clean. Plenty of street parking for my 7:30AM hot yoga class with Betsy. The class itself was thoughtful and engaging, with lots of opportunities to challenge yourself, and some really fun balance poses throughout the flow. The instructor gave lots of cues and modifications for different poses. The room is toasty, and you will sweat a ton so definitely bring a yoga towel if possible. Overall great workout, looking forward to trying the reformer class next!

If you’re thinking about it… just do it. I attended just over 40 classes last year and was in the best shape of my life. Just got another membership because truly the vibes, the instructors, the customer service are all a 10 here. Ride out that first booked up week of your membership & start booking your classes in advance and you’ll be good to go.

Disappointed by front desk customer service. First time at the studio. I showed up to class 15 minutes early. Patiently waited for the front desk worker to finish a conversation with another employee about their personal life before they tried to check me in. There was confusion with my registration so I waited patiently for the front desk worker to say something along the lines of "Okay you're all set". The employee did not give me any kind of confirmation and continued on to their personal conversation. I assumed I was checked-in so I started to ask them about the studio and told them it was my first time. I wanted to know where do I go for class, where do I put my stuff, where can I get water? I began to ask the employee this and their response was rude and had so much attitude it seemed like they were annoyed that I would even dare ask any questions. The employee then dismissed me away with "Ya we can talk more after class". Apparently I wasn't worth their time. At this point I was so embarrassed and made to feel like an inconvenience from the second I walked in. Of course this employee made no attempt to talk with me after class even when I was standing right by them putting my shoes on while they scrolled on their phone. I have worked the front desk at a yoga studio for the last year and am shocked by this unwelcoming service. I thought the class itself was good and the teacher much more friendly but my interactions with this one staff member ruined my experience. I won't be returning.

I attended 4 classes so far and had great experience with the class and instructor while it is quite hard to get a spot for hot sculpt or hot Pilates class. However, it is SO DIFFICULT to find a parking spot nearby. I arrived early and looked for a parking spot for more than 20 mins! I drove 4 blocks around and barely found one that was 6 mins walk away. I ran in the rain and arrived 7 mins late. I was not allowed to join the class because I passed the 5 mins grace time. I fully understand and willing to follow the strict time policy, but it is sooo frustrating because I did plan ahead, arrive early and expected for this class for a week.

Over the last three years, my experiences at Pilates House have been nothing short of wonderful. I've attended reformer Pilates classes nearly every morning and have thoroughly enjoyed the HOT PILATES sessions! Additionally, the private classes I took were incredibly beneficial and tailored to my needs, providing focused attention and support. The instructors are all exceptionally kind and fantastic at what they do. The desk staff are equally wonderful, always greeting me with kindness. I used to suffer from neck pain, but it has significantly improved thanks to the PH. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Pilates House. I deeply miss being there...

When I lived in Baltimore I attended 3+ classes a week at Pilates House and I absolutely loved it. I recently moved and have found another local Pilates studio. Let me just tell you that I wish I was still able to attend PH. I was VERY lucky to have Pilates House. I have yet to find a single Pilates studio that challenges me the way Pilates House did. If you are debating whether or not to sign up at PH, I’m telling you that you will be challenged more than any other studio and you will be in the best shape of your life. Terrible terrible Customer Service. This is my first time here at the studio and thinking of doing long term. Didn’t realize parking was very difficult to find. Came in around 7 mins late. The lady at the front said it herself only street parking they have. Would not allow me to join the class. Wouldn’t even bother to go in to ask the instructor if she would allow or not. Too bad they lost a customer. There are many Pilates studio with reformers that will happily take in another customer. I will make sure to tell everyone what a poor attitude and customer service this place has.

Updating this a few weeks after my last hot yoga class here: I attended what was supposed to be Allison’s class, but had a sub that day. The sub asked if anybody did not want to be touched, and I raised my hand. For the second time now, an instructor still approached and touched me after me requesting not to be touched, and it was while I was in downward dog (if you’re familiar with yoga, it’s a bit of a vulnerable position). I came with one of my friends that has really gotten into going to yoga classes here, and she even commented on it afterwards because she knows how I feel about being touched by people. This is the second time my boundaries have been disrespected here. I’ve tried once to book a different class without those two instructors but ultimately canceled because I didn’t want to have my day ruined. If you are like me and have a serious aversion to physical touch, I would not recommend going here for classes. I’m unsure if the instructors aren’t seeing me wave my hand or just forget who did or didn’t, but this needs to be addressed with some sort of system so that other people are not placed in this uncomfortable position repeatedly.
Previous review: I recently had a less than ideal experience here (all other times have been good experiences), and after the owner, Penny, found out, she immediately contacted me to discuss what happened. It’s rare that a business owner is that involved/cares that much about client experiences. Although I have not returned to do another class, I’ve updated my review to 4 stars and will update again after attending another reformer class.
I’m a travel nurse, and I have been looking for a pilates/yoga studio that best fits my needs. It’s evident that the owner genuinely cares about members and creating a safe space for them. Penny took the time to listen and was extremely professional about the entire situation. The facility is nice and well kept/clean. If you’re looking for yoga classes specifically, try Emily’s. I love them. Emily’s hot flow class, specifically, is great.
Some things to note before you go:
1) You will need grippy socks for reformer classes (they sell them for $15ish each at the front desk)
2) You will need a mat and towel for any hot classes
3) If you’re chronically late for things, this may not be a good fit as they don’t accept late entries and you will be locked out
4) If you do not like being touched, speak to your instructor prior to class and inform them of that as sometimes they will correct your form.
5) If you have an injury, speak to your instructor prior to class and they can give you modifications.
6) If something is hurting or uncomfortable, speak up and let the instructors know.

Great classes, I enjoy going here a lot but a word of caution on the waitlist, FYI, I would not join the waitlist unless you are willing to show up for the class in person and wait to see if you get in. They have a VERY strict late class entry policy. I did talk to them about it and understand more, it is for good a reason, of starting on time and going over questions, injuries or consent for assist, and I totally respect that. I think that everyone should understand what to expect if you sign up for the waitlist. I was turned away for being 2 minutes late after I arrived when there was a super last minute cancellation 25 min. before class started, obviously that was really frustrating, so personally I just won’t sign up for the waitlist again.

I am extremely disappointed and shocked by the discrimination and racism shown by the employee Katie at Pilates House. I absolutely would give this establishment 5 stars if it had not been the ill treatment shown towards me by their employees. I was turned away twice by the same employee when I was less than 5 minutes late. However, I have been in sessions where individuals are welcomed in 5-10 min after the class has begun, with Katie being at the front desk. I wonder why they allowed them and not me? Take a wild guess. I think it’s pertinent that either the late rule is enforced or they allow all guests to be 5–10 min late. It is unacceptable that Katie clearly chooses who she will allow in after the start time.
This needs to be rectified immediately.

I took a hot pilates class here about a week ago and I am going to apply for a membership package. I took the class with Penny and I absolutely loved it. The class was tough. It was a bit brutal (in a good way) but absolutely worth it. Penny is an excellent instructor. She talks you through the whole class and makes sure that you’re doing the moves the right way to prevent injury and to ensure that you’re getting the maximum benefit of the movements. She was very soft spoken and her playlist choice made the class very soothing. This facility is amazing. The employees are incredibly welcoming and hospitable. I had been through multiple types of therapy which helped and went back to the same types of workouts as before, only to be in pain after. My chiropractor said I'd need to give up the impact workouts (even temporarily) and it was then a neighbor told me about Pilates House. I went to a private session and then went to about two classes before I decided to commit six months as a founding member. I went about five times/week and these classes were the ONLY thing that made my hip feel better. When the COVID pandemic began and the studio shut down, I tried the virtual classes, but nothing compares to the real deal on the reformer in-class. Classes are always different and challenging (the instructors come up with so many ways to use the props and reformer, it always amazes me). Since reopening I have felt nothing but safe in the studio. Yes, we are required to wear masks throughout class: not the most comfortable, but it certainly doesn't deter me (I'd rather wear a mask for an hour than be in pain all day). The studio is super clean: hand sanitizer on your way in and out, reformers distanced, disinfecting wipes as soon as class is over (then the studio is cleaned again)--it just feels SO good to be back!

To start with I love it! I'm only reforming for a few months, but I have seen an absolutely impressive change in my core strength and length and my whole body as a matter of fact. Whole team is just awesome and take good care of us. Their energy is inspiring, and they make the classes so fun and at the same time so challenging! I'm super delighted with the extended measures they have taken to make us feel safe! The studio is very very clean and everyone is super careful and limited to their space. Everyone wears a mask the whole time, which I had no problem with from day one! Totally doable! Love this place, it just makes my day every time I go!

I have been going to Pilates house for months and it never stops challenging me! It’s always a great workout and, beyond that, Penny and her team are knowledgeable, kind, and welcoming.
They implement COVID-19 protocols consistently including extra sanitation and spacing of machines and they are careful to answer your questions and make all clients feel safe and comfortable. Love it here and I will be a member for years to come!

I started going to Pilates House when they first opened and joined after my first few classes. This studio is such a gem. I've always been a member of a big box gym and taken their group fitness classes. I had NO idea what I was missing out on. The smaller classes and more personal attention makes all the difference. They also have the cutest decor, clothes and vibes. Try it out and you will love it!
I recently returned after quarantine and was so impressed by the level of care they took to protect their staff and members. In addition to all of the precautions Pilates House took, all of the members in the class were very respectful of others and wore a mask the entire time. So happy to be back!

I took a virtual class with Penny in April 2020 when the physical studio is temporarily closed due to Covid19. Her guidance, knowledge and attention to detail is incredible. You will always have an amazing class with Penny and Pilates House, virtually or in person.

Pilates house is amazing! I love all of the instructors - they each have something different to offer. The space is beautiful and everyone is so welcoming! I’ve been attending classes since they’ve opened and I notice a major difference in both my strength and most importantly my flexibility. If you haven’t tried Pilates before this is definitely the place to do it!

Finally!!!! BEST Reformer Pilates Studio in Baltimore. I joined Pilates House couple of weeks ago and what a great experience I had. It’s so great to finally have a beautiful warm welcoming Pilates studio just walking distance from my house. I took about 7 classes already with Penny. Each time was different and I felt all different body parts I didn’t even know I had before. The time flies in this modern space studio filled with soft music. Classes are challenging but fun! If you want serious workout you might sweat little and feel your body, but you will have tighter leaner body on the end. Great pricing and packages.
