I been going to planet fitness for a bit and out of all the employees who is very excellent is a guy name keynard, sorry if I spelled it wrong, but he’s always there and knows how to manage the facility by himself on Saturdays, also he’s always engaging with customers and helping out when asked. I’m mostly happy when I see him there. Best I’ve seen so far, he needs some type of raise or reward.

Hours have changed. They now open at 6:00 AM. Not convenient any more. I used to arrive at 5:00 AM work out then shower at home and go to work. Really hard to get in an hour workout, shower and make it to work by 7:00 AM. I would guess that this branch will eventually close.

This PF is very convenient if you are staying in hotels in the area. It is a very clean and well-kept gym.

I’ve been coming to this gym for over a year now and I must say this is one of the best gyms i’ve been to. This hip thrust machine is a favorite of mine and I was thrilled to see that the machine works again since it has been a while that the padding has been changed. I don’t know what they got going on at this particular planet fitness but they got a whole bunch of workers there& some areas can’t be use because of the fixing up. I’ve been coming here for a minute and never experience getting turned away Because the bill transaction hasn’t cleared. I know even when the bill has been paid they give you three times to use the gym. The lady at the desk turn me away because that bill hasn’t cleared. on the app it says this is the last time for you to use the gym after that your features will be unavailable. She talking about management said they’re not allowed to let nobody use the gym. Norway or Tonor whatever his name is Was one of the managers that said it. I’m just going to cancel my black cd membership & find another home gym. Showed the proof & everything & still was told I can’t work out .

I have been going here since it opened and it is very convenient for my life and with my schedule. The reason I rated how I did is because I'm there 3am sometimes 4am 3 times a week and with the scheduled change of hours that is in place for September 1, 2025 it will not allow me to start my day off properly. Hopefully this is not a permanent change of hours because I may have to go somewhere else that can accommodate the time frame that I desire. Hopefully you can take into consideration that there are some people that get up early, use your services, and go on with the rest of their day because myself and several others are consistently there 3am, 4am, and 5am on the 24 hour days. I have been going to this location since 2018. I have had some great experiences at this location, but over the last two years it has taken a downward turn. I needed to freeze my account last fall, due to work. I knew I wouldn’t be able to go as often or at all due to a busy season and I did a 4 month freeze. I was billed for all 4 of those months and when I noticed the billing charges, I went to the location and spoke to SEVERAL staff, even asst managers, but never the manager that could issue that refund to me. They would not give me a contact number or email, so I felt that I was at an impasse. I have since canceled my membership, but when I tell you about the unprofessionalism of this location.
I walked in to cancel because I did not know any other way to cancel but to go in person or write a letter but why would I choose snail mail?
Anyway, apparently you can cancel when you log into your account on the website - Not the app! Only the website, because that’s super convenient?
I walk into this location to no one at the front, a messy counter, and takeout just on the back counter for everyone to see.
I finally see the lead employee (I assume) come to the front but she is having her hair braided by someone in the back- they speak about setting up a room in the back for her to get her hair done. I thought that those back rooms were for tanning, massage chairs and beds?
She did see me but was eating so didn’t approach me until her friend told her to wait on me. Then when I mentioned I wanted to cancel my membership, she cut me off and quickly said - ‘go on the site and cancel’. I feel like if I knew how to cancel that way, I wouldn’t have bothered to come in and you think she would have understood that. She was very cold and nonchalant and the fact that she couldn’t be bothered to help me because I was disrupting her hair appointment and her eating her takeout, was so crazy. She was terrible and if that’s the standard of the person in charge for this location, you may want to retrain. I have to now find a way to reach out to corporate and get my money back or tag them all over my social. This is absolutely horrible staff and I wish it was better because I used to like going here. Please do better.

Don’t bother with the black card, you’ll never get to use the amenities. This place NEEDS more staff, or just more competent ones who aren’t always on their phones. I’m sorry, I love the location, and they are nice people, but they are hardly EVER at the front desk. I just waited 15 minutes for someone to use the black card section and eventually gave up when I realized no one was coming. This has happened so many times, I’m just going to cancel the membership. I cant believe the management doesn’t do anything about this when I know they know it’s a problem.

Outstanding downtown location.

Larger space and more workout equipment than Merritt and other gyms in the area.

The workout equipment is excellent, generally kept in decent condition and updated regularly.

Simple, fair membership agreements that can be canceled, temporarily frozen, changed to other PF locations, all easily. This is NOT common in the fitness industry.

Easy going staff, chill ambience. The folks who work out there are mostly there to work out.

Negatives?
The locker rooms need to be updated.

They don't have a pool or sauna.

But overall, for a large, well-equipped urban fitness center, Planet Fitness on Charles Street is a great place to work out for those of us who live, work or visit in Baltimore City.

Somebody is Lying. Multiple machines stay broke for “weeks/months”. Which is a problem since some machines they only have one of, such as the shoulder press. Also, they only have 2 stair master machines and one is currently broken. The Staff is the best part about this gym.

Bad temp control. Staffers claim they don't have the "access code" to adjust fan speed. Today both the air conditioner and the fan were running at HIGH SPEED. This is too cold, Planet Fitness. Really fantastic staff that are on top of things. Was doing my usual treadmill training routine for the upcoming cross country season and the worker came up to me with the spray bottle and rag and spritzed me down and cleaned it off with the rag, really refreshing and made the experience much more personal. Convenient, not crowded. Grips for the cable machines are all pretty much worn and useless. Pull up machine is the same. Quite a few seats on other machines are loose and potentially pose a major safety hazard. Also, nobody cares that patrons don't clean machines and slam plates which will, in turn, break machines - there were a few broken ones already. Bathroom is disgusting as I read in other posts. Was visiting from out of town and wanted to workout as a PF member. The only parking on a Sunday appears to be garages that want to charge $30 for the day. 5/9/24 I went here around 8:15 am and the guy at the desk needs to learn how to address customers in a timely manner.He was having a whole long conversation and didn’t even acknowledge me.Proper thing was to let me know he’s helping someone and be right with me.Which also needs to be addressed is that once you’re done using the equipment wipe it off and move on not sit on your phone texting or on social media.Everyone so wrapped up in these phones that you can’t even enjoy your workout.Work out classes moving from one end to another while you using the equipment which is so rude and inconsiderate.I won’t be visiting this location again!!

This is a very nice location in downtown Baltimore S. Charles St. Is the equitable trust bank location? I went in today for the first visit the reason for the two stars it smells so nasty and no lights. It’s very dark and dem. How can you enjoy yourself in such an atmosphere? Member since 2014 and never seen Planet Fitness on S Charles Street is not like what used to be before. The new crew members have no idea how to handle the facility, ZERO experience and if you asked them about anything they will not answer you the questions. The only thing they do just EAT, sit on PHONE, watch MOVIE on laptop and nobody for the managers watch them in the camera see what they do. Most the nobody sit on the desk, phone ringing and no answer, they leave the place and smoke weed outside the facility with the new manager (Spanish guy) no one’s tell them clean the place or even go check out of any equipments need to fix. I never ever seen planet fitness leave anything out of service for long time. I have taken a few pictures to show off the place and how looks like it. Staff messes up cancelling account, and they refuse to give refunds for their mistakes.

I went in July to cancel my membership since I couldn’t put for it anymore. Was told by one of the managers that I had to pay for July and the late fee in order to cancel. I was okay with that, but couldn’t pay til the end of the week. He sad as long as I came in by next week he would remove the late fee for me and cancel the account.
I went in later that week. He wasn’t there and I talked to an associate. I was fine with paying anything I had I just wanted the account closed. She said that there weren’t any active accounts, I tried logging in on the app and it wouldn’t let me log in either. Everything was showing as canceled when she searched me in the system.
Here is is in September and I get a text about a payment not going through. I call support and my account was never canceled. They charged me for August and were trying to charge me for September.
Was told to bring my agreement number 08122 4881 in and I would be able told talk about canceling and refunds.
Management refused to provide a refund even though their staff was the one that made the mistake. He even showed me the process that they should have done for me. I did what I needed to do to cancel the membership- ie, go in with payment. Their staff messed up and they don’t want to take accountability.

Won’t be going back to this location if I decide to get another PF membership.

I wasnt sure about joining but when I visited the club, Steven and Shanya were so friendly, welcoming and professional that I did not hesitate. They took their time even though I came in near closing, were attentive and answered all of my questions with a positive and friendly attitude! I’ve read some negative reviews about the facility and I just didn’t have the same experience. Even the Black Card Membership is super inexpensive so I believe it’s great for what we pay and I’ve had zero problems, everyone has been friendly and helpful. The facility is a smaller one but has everything you need to get a good workout and even some extras. Sometimes we have to think about whether or not WE as customers come in and are kind to others…the world is stressed enough today, working with the public can be tough especially in todays world, let’s not make it more difficult for them. Thank you Shanya and Steven for helping me and being so kind even though I came In with questions while you were supposed to be getting ready to close!

I only came Downtown because Mondawmin closes at 9 and I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Very limited space. Machines too close together. Dirty equipment, sticky mats and scattered equipment. This is one of the cleanest Planet Fitness locations I've been to. The Total Body Enhancement machine actually had the red light too. Staff was cleaning, fixing equipment, and interacting with people the whole time. They tried to play Me on the low with the Alarm going off while I was doing curls but I think they were just testing the equipment at the same time. I laughed about it with a few other gym goers, it was cool.

I greatly appreciate the cleanliness, also both of the Stairmasters worked. Do you know how rare it is to find a Planet Fitness where the Stairmasters work? Had a fun time there. The machines were available. No one hogging the equipment, gym members helping each other. Definitely, going back one day.

The Black Card Spa is one of the best I've used. They actually had the tanning goggles and the foil eye covers available. This is the first location I've seen with Planet Fitness water in the refrigerator!

SORRY IN ADVANCE FOR THE LENGTH OF THIS REVIEW: I'm normally not a person that reviews anything unless it is a good review, however I hope this review makes it to the right people so that actual change can be made. I have been going to this gym for almost three years at first the environment was nice people were friendly or they just minded their business which is also fine. I noticed a high turnover with the front desk employees. I don't know if that was intentional or not however with each new set of employees the gym got worse and worse. They don't greet customers. They are either all in the back or in the front on their phones. You could literally just walk into the gym without a membership since no one really pays attention. I have seen the employees smoking weed outside of the establishment which on your own time is your own business but to be doing it right in front of your work place is unprofessional. After COVID there was a period where they "ran out" of paper towels and had everyone wiping down equipment with the same dirty damp towel.The women's bathroom is always disgusting the handicap stall is always flooded with toilet water on the floor at this point I don't even think they clean the restrooms anymore. There has recently been a influx of unruly teenagers that have been in the gym. I'm not 100% sure but I thought there was a policy against kids under 18 being in the gym alone. Now I'm not quite sure how old all of these kids are however I have personally seen them getting verbally aggressive with some of the regular gym goers. They throw balls and hit each other with gym equipment and the employees say nothing about it. They are a huge distraction and make the gym a now unpleasant place to be. As someone who pays their money for a service its annoying to have to skip days or switch up my gym time to try to avoid people that don't know how to act. Especially when the employees don't do anything to rectify the situation. There are a number of machines that have been broken for months and that hasn't been addressed either. To anyone looking to join enter at your own risk.

Review for Planet Fitness:

I recently had a disappointing experience at Planet Fitness and I feel compelled to share my concerns. Yesterday, I went to the gym and utilized one of their lockers to store my college bag, which contained my wallet with important documents.Unfortunately, my belongings were stolen from the locker.

When I reported the incident to a staff member at Planet Fitness, I expected a prompt and serious response. However, the response I received was far from satisfactory. The staff member, a lady, took my name and number and brushed off the issue, stating that they couldn’t do anything at that moment. To make matters worse, she quickly moved on to attend to another client, seemingly disregarding the seriousness of the situation. Her lack of empathy and urgency left me feeling ignored and unimportant.

This incident occurred on July 14, 2023, at approximately 8:30 PM on a Friday. It’s deeply concerning that such an incident could happen within the premises of Planet Fitness, a place where customers should feel safe and secure. The fact that the staff member didn’t take immediate action or provide any reassurance or support only adds to my disappointment.

I would strongly encourage Planet Fitness to address this issue and take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. It’s essential for the management to emphasize the importance of customer safety and ensure that their staff members are adequately trained to handle such situations with care, empathy, and urgency.

Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend Planet Fitness at this time. I hope that they take the necessary steps to improve their security protocols and staff training to create a safer environment for their customers.
