As I write this, there's a female employee behind the desk yelling at a customer for stepping in far enough to see the tanning lotions available. From where I get on the treadmill, I can say that I have seen this customer looking at the tanning products before, but this employee is completely out of line with some of the things she's saying and the volume. INEXCUSABLE! Your employee even told this customer that mentioned cancelling her black membership and going to basic that she didn't have to do that. She, the employee would just cancel the entire membership so she didn't have to look at her again. My wife almost got into it to back the customer up, but it rarely ends well when she does. Instead, she saw the customer leaving and ran outside to encourage her to call her later to file assault charges against the employee for some of the language she used.

Please get it together. In the recent past month or so it was frustrating when the gym was supposed to open around 5am but people had to wait for sometimes 30 minutes to an hour and a half because of late employees not showing up on time. Now the issue is there’s a master lock on the front doors and the door is apparently broken. When the employee was trying to call the only two other employees who had the keys for the master lock they were not answering. Why have an employee open up who doesn’t have the keys to the master lock??

Why can’t this gym open on time? Jordan always had it opened but lately there are 15-20 people waiting every morning and they are always 10 plus minutes late. With most the people here working for government, even 5 isn’t idea. Needs to open at 4 or 4:30. But now with Jordan not opening it’s past 5:15. Certified Gym Rat here: This is a gym that you can work out at and lift weights and run on treadmills. Yep, you heard it here. If working out and lifting weights and treadmill and spin bike is your style - this place is perfectamundo for you. One year ago, I could only lift maybe 5-10 pounds but now after planet fitness I have made my way to the top, and today I lifted 15. there is nothing like setting a new record. so anyway planet fitness is nice and they have weights and treadmills and spin bikes and ellipticals and bathrooms and weight cable machines and dumbbells and smith machines and sauna and lockers and mirrors and walls and doors and a front desk and fans.

The machines are constantly broken and it takes months for any repairs to be done. Throughout entire summer there were 3 leg machines broken and never repaired.

The management is rude and unhelpful. They also give false information about billing dates to prevent people from canceling before another month is charged. Make sure to cancel before the 10th of every month even if a member of management tells you to cancel before the 17th. The dates they give are intended to keep your membership.

Tbh the kids working there are friendly usually, but the cleanliness of the whole place is just not there... especially the women's bathrooms are super gross, and I can tell they haven't mopped in about 2 weeks :/
Also, all your equipment needs an upgrade or at least fix the machines that are there! Pretty sad that all that space is not utilized as well as it could be.

Well Google won’t let you add video! The fact that you have Hot Water is a Plus. But you lack Pressure! You need an updated shower head also! Very difficult to get all your lady parts!! Idk how the men’s showers are but I bet they are better! 🙄

When I used to go to Planet Fitness about 5 years ago the people that worked at the front desk were extremely friendly, they have become very unfriendly very unhelpful you are never greeted they all have attitudes they really should re-examine the way that they treat people when they come in through the doors. I have gone into the ladies room and I turn around and I walk out it is not very clean the floor is very dirty they could do a better job with their housekeeping skills.

I agree with other members I know. I've since the club opened. And now your employees care more about their cell phones than any members. I normally come in the same time 3 or 4 times a week. And I guarantee, they never look up.Let me take a year out there. Just stay on their phones or talk to each other. Behind the counter. You're wasting your money with most of the employees that you've hired. I'm not sure if they even know how to use the equipment. I was an NFPT certified trainer, and I would never treat members the way that you're employees treat them. A Welcome to plan and fitness. Would be nice when you check-in? We are not slabs of meat on a hook! The locker rooms are like ice in the morning. Why don't you do a survey and ask people about the temperature. It's too cold to change clothes, let alone shower. I was leaving Ulta and stopped an employee named Sue in the parking lot. She was very helpful and answered all my questions about joining, what exercises I could do there. How busy it was, which was very important for someone who doesn't feel comfortable in a gym. She was overall very nice, helpful and made me feel comfortable which hasn't always been the case for me when inquiring with gyms in the past.

I have to agree with previous review, weekend staff are just plain rude and unprofessional. I came in on the weekend and asked the older big gentleman with glasses named “Tobi”, for the massage chair and he was just plain awful and rude, yelling go back like snapping his fingers. I came back out and asked for the Total Body Enchanment and yelled go to the back, it’s the only one, you should know. He is way out of line as well as the other staff and really hurt the business.

I hurt my shoulder, working out at planet fitness, and I was complaining to Sue, Sue, by the way, works at planet fitness. She suggested that I go to the room in the back and just work out with lighter weights and not overdo it. I took her advice in after three weeks, I am back to normal one hundred percent. Sue also knows how long you should tan considering the pigmentation of your skin. Thank you Sue for all you do.

A lot of the equipment is out of order, including the massage beds and tanning beds. They never have eye protection for the tanning beds available and I was told to just close my eyes. Started going here about a month ago and so far everything is good. They gave a wide selection of equipment and the staff seems to be very friendly.

Update 2024:
Used to be 4 stars, not anymore.Been going here a while now and equipment that was broken when I joined 2 years ago is still broken today. If you mention it to staff they always say "parts on are order". Obviously the owners don't care about the equipment. Half the weight lifting equipment is broken. Never see any classes posted either so what's the point of paying for a membership that includes classes when they're are none.

The location is about the same as others in Southern Maryland. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The equipment could use some TLC and maybe upgrades. The environment is a stress-free zone to work out and usually, patrons mind their business. Avoid busy hours at all costs (check the crowd meter in the app), not worth the hassle. Management is trying as some changes are seeable every so often. The space requires more ventilation, especially during peak times.

That’s all the good stuff I can say about it. This PF has sold out on what and who the brand was built on—the new and casual gym goers that didn’t want to listen to grunting, groaning and weight and machine slamming that goes on in typical gyms. Fine if people want do that, but PF is supposedly not the place for it according to their own business model. No grunters here thankfully, but lots of machine slamming which staff does nothing about and people hogging machines for 20-30 minutes regardless of how crowed it gets, and this PF is by far the most crowded I’ve been to. This location is PF by name and purple equipment only. It’s just another gym…at a great price though.

I think the management needs to do a better job in training there staff, especially when it comes to greeting people at the front desk. I’ve been going to this gym for about 4 years. I enjoy this gym and it’s very clean and well taken care of, but there are too many people for the size of the space. It’s extremely crowded sometimes to the point where you can’t find open lifting equipment or even open space available for free weights. There’s a lot of cardio equipment that never gets used and that space could definitely be better used, or a bigger space in general would be great.

Also, stickers for where the free weights should go on the weight racks would be great. They got removed a while back and weights just go wherever on the racks now and it’s irritating to have to stand in front of people and the racks to search for the weights you’re looking for.

Unfortunately, the weekend hours brought me to this review. I work two jobs and weekend evenings are all I’ve got for lengthy workouts. I have friends that switched gyms because of it which sucks. Not seeing the logic in 24 hours Monday through Thursday but closing at 7 Friday through Sunday. That’s when we have freedom.
Also, some of the equipment could use better maintenance and timely repair.

There are only 3 stair climbers in the gym and it is rare that more than one of them work. This has been the case for a very long time. Nice Planet Fitness. I travel a good amount for work and have visited 10-12 different Planet Fitness locations around the country. The location on Three Notch Rd. In California MD is another nice location! I visited on Monday afternoon and it was reasonably busy. I didn't have much trouble getting on any piece of equipment with a little patience. The staff was friendly, everything was clean and well maintained. It was a good visit and I'd go back again.

The gym equipment is old and poorly maintained, the showers are pretty gross, and they have a bug problem. I kill about ten to twenty little flying bugs before I get in the showers. The water fountains have an enormous amount of mold growing on the drinking spouts. I asked the young lady working the morning shift to wipe them down so I could have a drink. She said they were stained and could not be cleaned. I gingerly whipped them down with a paper towel, and they came clean. So the bald staff early shift worker is awful at even trying to help. There is no other 24-hour gym near me in a convenient location to my job site, so I do not have a choice. If there were another 24-hour gym available, I would go there. I wish I had pictures to share.

Good, clean place for a workout! Wish there was a sauna. Equipment cleaned and in great shape. Like the black card amenities! Here is my ONLY gripe...need you to open ar 0400 on Mondays instead of 0700...I miss a Monday exercise session because my only available time is 0400 to 0700 to work out everyday. Please consider opening earlier on Mondays. Thank you for all the good cleaning protocols.

This planet fitness is very well managed. Always clean and we'll maintained. Equipment that breaks or requires service is back up and running very quickly. The staff is very friendly and courteous.

This place used to be decent but it’s really in decline due to poor maintenance. The machines are poorly maintained. There’s been only one fully functioning sink in the women’s locker room since forever (gross), 2 out the 3 stair climbers have been out of order for about as long, half the cardio machines are missing water bottle holders, etc. Locker room floors and countertops are almost always dirty. The only things that consistently function are the way too many televisions blaring banalities and depressing news at you constantly. Overall the vibe now is less “clean gym” and more “run-down sports bar.” Front desk staff is nice but there’s not much they can do about any of the above - management seems to be MIA. It’s a shame because it used to be pretty nice.
