Everyone working there is super pleasant and friendly!
Very clean with a lot of different machine options. Plenty of elliptical treadmill and stair machines.
The black card spa has more options than any other I have seen including a a cryobed and a relaxation room.
They do cute monthly promotions to help engagement.
10/10 my favorite out of all the planet fitness I have been to!

No changing cabins are present so be prepared to see frequent unsolicited body parts, also bathrooms were backed up and out of tp, not to mention airflow was terrible - basically didn’t feel any change when I walked inside - By far this branch could have been the dirtiest pf I’ve ever seen and of course all this happening in the middle of Wednesday while 3 employees were chilling at the front check-in booth. I imagine no manager was on sight at the time of my visit but that’s not an excuse for the state of the place now does it?

Planet fitness has just increased their monthly charges, yeah most of the equipment are always broken and some are dusty. I am asking myself if there is going to be upgrade at the Frederick location or it will continue to stay like this. Just giving myself till the end of this month if after the extra charges i don't see any improvement i will just end my membership and go to crunch across the street with newer equipment.

I've been helpful and friendly and troubleshoot equipment for them. Then they got rid of every piece of equipment I was using to heal my disabled, service connected back. Like, just that equipment.

They renovated recently and they removed all the good machines. The preacher curl machine and all the hammer strength machines are gone, and I really liked those ones. And most of the ‘new equipment’ is somehow dirtier? I do appreciate the new barbell racks, though- but the new setup is really confusing. I just really wish they brought back those machines + they seemed to be really popular. :(

5-23-25 update they have corrected the wifi issues.

Very frustrated with the internet connection while inside working out. Not only does there wifi not work well but my mobile internet connection is limited also. The gym is kind of stuffy and the more crowded it becomes the warmer the temperature is inside which makes it uncomfortable while exercising.

I’m overall happy with this gym, however many employees will see multiple empty paper towel dispensers and do nothing about them. Ask an employee to do something about a guest not following rules, they say ok and then don’t do anything. However the newest manager woman is very nice and courteous and makes my visit better every time I see her

They have this amazing policy of yelling out to members as they enter. I asked twice not to be yelled at as I enter, the third time I was told that's just their policy and they wouldn't make a "special exception" to call me or email me about my ID, NO! they need to make me feel harassed and threaten to kick me out. When I tried to cancel, they said they'll still charge for the whole month and I could still come in, but they'll just keep yelling at me and chasing me into the ladies locker room.

The Planet Fitness in Frederick, MD, is, for the most part, identical to every Planet Fitness that I have been to. I've only been to the Planet Fitness in Frederick, MD twice. The first time was at around 6:00 A.M.. At 6:00 A.M., the gym was packed. So, on the second visit to this gym, I went around 3:15 A.M., and there were only about 20 people working out at that time of the morning. So, if you want to workout in a nearly empty gym, go at 3:00 A.M.. Also, what I enjoy about Planet Fitness is the massage chairs, for after a workout. The massage chairs really help with muscle soreness.

Been a black card member for the last 7 years with PF Frederick. pF has been a go to gym with my busy working schedule. Recently I started to record my own workouts to analyse my own progress. I had my camera on while working out focusing just my self, the staff comes and says there’s no recording inside the gym. Disappointed. If that’s the case they should have it up on the notice like every other notice they put up. Waiting till crunch to open up.

Planet Fitness in Frederick, MD, offers a great gym experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, making the visit smooth and enjoyable. The gym is clean, with well-maintained equipment, and has plenty of space, even during busier hours.

What really stood out were the amenities. There are plenty of tanning beds, a cryo pod for recovery, and, uniquely to this location, a relax pod—something you won’t find at other Planet Fitness locations. It’s a great way to relax after a workout.

Overall, it’s a solid gym with helpful staff and some nice extras. Definitely worth 5 stars!

Frederick Planet Fitness was renovated in 2018. The locker room looks a lot better. I may take a shower at the gym one day. They have more staff and everyone is friendly. It is now 2024, and Frederick PF has new equipment. They moved some equipment around, and the staff is still friendly. Sept 2024: Frederick location has a lot of new equipment and moved a lot of equipment around. I love it

Not much parking at all, definitely not RV or 18-wheeler friendly whatsoever. Extremely difficult to get into the parking lot from the main road and once in the parking lot. It is early impacted due to all the other businesses next door with very limited parking.
I would avoid this gym if possible, very dirty feeling to it, lot of machines broken, bathroom filthy, Windows mirrors. Everything else filthy as if they don't keep up with it.
Visited on a Tuesday afternoon about 3:00 p.m. And the place was already packed. Definitely find another Planet Fitness to make your primary facility unless you have to absolutely have to stop for a place to work out.

I've been to a few Planet Fitnesses in Maryland. Columbia, Rockville, Glen Burnie, and now the Fredrick location. I only felt the need to review this location because it needs one. The equipment is completely out of date, I can tell some of the machines have been there since they opened or have been bought from another location for cheap. I'm a shorter person 5'2 and it was extremely hard for me to adjust the machines to feel comfortable enough for me to do my exercise correctly. That doesn't go for all machines but I noticed planet fitness does set limits to what you can accomplish at the gym. Definitely avoid the hammer stretch matchine if you don't want a thick metal piece piercing into your windpipe everytime you attempt to go down. You won't be able to get your footing down properly because again not shorty friendly. I had to stand on my tippy toes to even get the correct form down. I suggest throwing that thing out completely, I'd honestly be embarrassed to keep that in my gym. The hip abduction matchine is also terrible and doesn't accommodate my height. I literally have to position myself in a way that was totally uncomfortable and I felt like I wast doing the exercise correctly because I couldn't feel the burn like I can at other locations. One of the ab matchines is completely trash. I wish I would've taken pictures so I could explain better but basically it's the worst matchine I've used while going to any gym ever and honestly at other locations it's my favorite workout. The cardio equipment is the only matchines that are up to date. Lots of stair masters whereas other locations have like 3 or 4 and those get taken up pretty quickly. Other locations the matchines will count the reps you do and time you take to do them. Not a single matchine at this location had this feature that's how you know these matchines need an upgrade. All in all, Planet Fitness is a really good starter gym. It's cheap, convenient, open 24/7, but it can be a hit or miss depending on the location. I am seriously considering switching gyms. The YMCA was kind of expensive but honestly the piece of mind that comes with knowing the matchines are nice is worth it for me. I am now rethinking my rest days so that I won't have to come back to this location at all. Sucks because it is close to home but again I did not have a good experience here.

Update: 6/22/24
I returned to this location a week after this review just to see if anything had changed and boy was I surprised. All brand new everything in this gym. I mean everything has been upgraded. Besides the cable, smith matchines, and cardio equipment, which again didn't need to be replaced but I digress. You've got brand new matchines I haven't even seen at other locations. I'm kind of impressed, and now excited to go back! I don't know how, or who did what but you go planet fitness! Way to set the the bar high. There's more room at this location for multiple people to do walking lunges because of how well thought out the space is.

Hmmm, I intermittently work out at this gym and bring my son with special needs as my guest. The management is usually considerate when I request that my son use the massaging machine instead of me since I rarely use that privilege included in my membership. Frederick County is Large and has a LOT of people to accommodate. I come to the gym at different hours of the day as well as days of the week and it is always PACKED with people. In spite of the crowd meter CONSTANTLY showing a 2!!! It's difficult to make use of all of the equipment, as much of it can be in use by others the entirety of your workout. I also find it is MUCH TOO HOT in there, and there are no fans on the floor that can be used by clientele! The equipment itself seems in fair working order, but the space is cramped with it. I often find I am squeezing between machines trying to add/remove weights. Seems potentially unsafe

I like the environment at the Frederick gym and the upkeep on the mmequipment. Everyone was also very nice and welcoming. I only left because I got to a point that I really needed heavier weights. I did what I could to work around the problem for some time, but finrally decided I needed to make the switch. We tend to go early morning which allows for lots of availability with equipment. Majority of staff are very friendly, would love to specifically mention “Young” (I believe is her name). This place looks run down and tired. Peeling wallpaper, cramped equipment, and constant loud noises (beeping, whistles, etc.). It looks like some people live out of this facility (people posted up in the waiting area) and I did not feel very safe in the plaza. I've never seen a PF this shabby. Signed up for membership online and visited for the first time today (at about 9:30am on a weekday). There was a decent amount of people, but there is SO much equipment that I had no issue navigating the space and trying out new equipment. Attempted to go to this location for a one day free trial since the access door to my complexes gym isn't working right now. After canceling in September, by going in to the club and speaking to a desk representative and an assistant manager named Emilie because the desk representative was having problems cancelling my partners account.

Emilie said she had completed the cancellation.

A month later, I notice 2 charges for the cancelled account. I called the store.

Brenda answered and I went through then entire story. I was told that I had not cancelled. And, if I wanted to cancel, I would have to come to the store (I canceled because I have moved). Brenda seemed like she did not believe I had come in and cancelled. She pressed, "when did you come in." I could not remember the exact date, but I believed it was sometime between the last week of August and the first week of September, as that was when we had moved. She checked "I don't see any check-ins on your account except November 2022. I have been to that club on several occasions, most of the time, I used my phone to check in. On two distinct times, I know they had to look my account by name up as I didn't have my phone with me.

I suggested she look at my partner's account to check. When I provided her his full name, nothing came up. While she was trying to figure out what to do, I started to check my Outlook calendar for what day I cancelled. I found the cancellation confirmation for one of the accounts. On that confirmation, there was a member number. I gave her the number. She looked it up and said "you gave me the wrong name the first time." I had given her his full name. She said his name is "Douglas" and I replied, "which is the long version of Doug." Her response was "I'm not arguing with you about it, you gave me the wrong name! It's not the name in our system!" Obviously, speaking for the benefit of someone listening to her that was not on the phone.

In their system, when THEY created the account THEY entered Doug. I asked how I was supposed to know what name they put in their system and she huffed in to the mouth piece, upset.

When she reviewed she saw his account had been cancelled. When she got back on the phone, instead of saying I see that they cancelled this account, I can cancel the other account, as a courtesy (again, making it sound like I did something wrong). When she cancelled the account, I asked when I would receive the refund for the 2 drafts. Apparently, according to Brenda, a courtesy cancel does not include a refund.

I asked to speak to a manager because I was tired of being told, at first that I had not cancelled, then that I provided the wrong name, then having it seem as if it was my fault. When the manager answered, it was Emilie. It was a quick conversation at first. I told her that what had happened. She went down the checklist. 1. They had cancelled the account, 2. She would request a refund to their processor (3 days), 3. Once, they replied to her she would process the refund (7-10 days).

At this time, she was not being helpful at all and was, in my opinion, snarky about the whole situation. I told her that was an extremely long time for an unauthorized transaction. She brought up the contract and said by signing the contract, I had authorized Planet Fitness to draft my account and stated "You are under contract." When she decided to start talking about contract law, I decided to remind her that I had cancelled my contract in person and once that contract was cancelled, that terminated my contract with Planet Fitness, and any drafts out of my account at that time were unauthorized. She attempted to use the excuse, well your contract was never cancelled so we still had permission to draft your account. This would insinuate that Planet Fitness making an error could lead to accounts be charged forever because "hey we made a mistake."

This money isn't a big deal to me. I will eventually get by $50 back. However, I would like to present this. What if I had been someone cancelling this contract because I was having to make a decision between medication and the gym.

I have called my bank, who believes these charges are not authorized.
