Three things to keep in mind:
- Do not go to this gym expecting to get a quick workout in, at any time it is even moderately busy. Some members will sit and use a machine as their own personal texting station in-between their multiple sets. You will not be able to access those machines quickly. This concern was brought to management's attention. However, management's philosophy is that they want working out to be available to everyone, and this issue has not been addressed in any manner.
- When you join this facility, make sure to read the fine print on your initial contract. I was a member for over two years. When l needed to cancel, l was still charged the $49 annual fee for the upcoming year even though l was no longer a member, because of a specific set of cancellation guidelines listed in the small print that l did not follow exactly.
- Don't bother to fill out any of the 'how are we doing' surveys that PF sends out while you are a member. When you are helpful and give constructive input as to how this facility could improve, l have never seen the management show an interest in acting on any of the quite reasonable suggestions.

Hope this review helps others who are considering whether or not they should join. You will get what you pay for, and for me the lower monthly fee at this gym translated to lower overall satisfaction with my choice.

WOULD NEVER COME BACK!! I tried to use the free day pass cause I wanted to give it a try to switch from my current fitness center so I got a one day pass advertised on their website. Online says you can use it at any location nearby you. Just scan the QR code and that’s it. When I went to the location they said that the pass was not eligible!! That’s it’s so harmful to the consumer. Misleading advertising and lack of information!!! A friend tried their one day pass at the same location before and they had no issue! And what they gym only offered me was not other option but to pay the day pass advertised. IF I CAN GIVE THEM A ZERO I WOULD!!

The beginner classes should not be in the back where people are trying to work out, they should be in that seldom used room up front with all the yellow equipment. Today I basically felt like I was getting kicked of the stretching area because 4 people came and started hovering around me because they didn’t have any direction, Very distracting. This is by far the most unprofessional and irresponsible gym I have ever been to. The staff show absolutely no sense of responsibility or care for their members. Management is completely unqualified and incompetent, and they clearly have no idea how to properly run a gym. The lack of organization, poor communication, and careless attitude make this place a total waste of time and money. If you are looking for a serious, well-managed gym, I highly recommend staying far away from this one.

Pros: very affordable, weightlifting area is rarely crowded (sometimes hard to get on a smith machine tho), 24 hour access is great, enough equipment to get a very solid workout.

Cons: The dumbbells don't go past 75, complete lack of barbells (besides smith), so if you're a mega powerlifter or want to do deadlifts and squats and stuff then you're better off in a diff gym. Also not a lot of weightlifting equipment in general, most of the gym space is taken up by cardio machines.

This is a gym for a no-fuss workout. The staff is friendly and nice. The gym is kept clean. Post-workout cleaning spray is always refilled.
Four of the televisions are dedicated to news stations. Could we switch Fox News for ESPN 2 or Cartoon Network or anything else? We don't need that much news in the gym. More fun channels!

Not accommodating towards guests, Guests of black card members are not allowed to use the massage chairs. I have been to 10+ planet fitness locations and this is the only one that wouldn't allow me to do this. People at the front desk couldn't be bothered to say hello or speak to us, but they can definitely deny me from using things I use at every planet fitness I go to.

He has a group of members that he's training. I have been to 3 other Planet Fitness locations steady. I have never seen a trainer who gets so involved in his members. You can see he truly enjoys training with them. The members look so excited when they him, and when they are being trained by him. Chris loves the art of training so much. I believe if his clients missed a day. He would split himself in two and train himself.

I would like to take this time to bring to your attention of an amazing staff member named Edwin, located at the Gaithersburg MD Planet Fitness location. Every time I come to the gym, it's always clean. I have steadily trained at three other Planet Fitness locations. They all keep the gym clean. However, none of them put in the time to keep the male locker room as clean and upkeep like Edwin dose. I never seen a Planet Fitness staff member who consistently cleans the dripped water off the sink, wipes down the sitting area by the lockers, mops the locker area floor, and constantly mops the bathroom floor to keep the urine from building up under the urinal. The three Planet Fitness locations I have been to didn't have a staff member who's been attentive to urinal areas like Edwin. The other locations had a wet urine smell, which was an unsanitized area. The Gaithersburg male locker room is very clean, thanks to Edwin.

Edwin is an amazing guy and should be recognized for his dedication and professionalism.

Worst gym ever! People sit on machines and look at their cell phones for 10 minutes and then do another set. Impossible to cancel your membership as they said I had to come in personally to cancel. They then said my membership originated in Manchester, Pennsylvania which I have never been too! Cancelled my credit card and the fees rolled to the next card! Impossible to cancel!! When I come in for some work out, I get always greeted respectfully and kindly and welcome by Ronald. I have already contacted the corporate office and am awaiting their response. Additionally, I have filed a bank dispute due to unauthorized withdrawals from my account that exceed the agreed-upon fees. I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Despite my efforts, I have been unable to successfully cancel my membership. Update 10/20/2024 I encourage any guest facing fraud or discrimination to contact BBB or any regulatory state body and give a written complaint. Today, I received positive news regarding the implementation of a "click and cancel" feature for gym subscriptions. This feature will provide an easily accessible online button for members to cancel their memberships, thereby preventing fraudulent activities such as unauthorized withdrawal of funds. I personally fell victim to such practices at this particular gym. I anticipate that this new regulation will encourage gym management to be more courteous and responsive to members' concerns. Additionally, it will motivate them to maintain and update their equipment to avoid potential membership cancellations. Planet Fitness headquarters may face significant financial losses if they fail to adequately train their management teams. Ultimately, my complaint has proven to be instrumental in bringing about this positive change.

Today is September 3, 2024 and I went to work out while I waited for my family who is in town on business. I walked in no problem . No one pointed out my crocks. Went to the rest room there was a sign that said not Jean allow when working out. I had works out clothes just crooks I was just going to lift weight today if I was on a cardio machine test it would be dangerous but mid sets a young lady walked up to me to ask if I had other shoes which I told her I did not and I am from baltimore wait for family around. She proceed to tell me that I could not work out without appropriate shoes while the guy with Jean is two feet away and she did not correct that. As I walked out I point it out to her that I was send away but others who do not have the right “workout out” who are not African American are allowed to work out. I sat outside and watched for 45 minute the couple who wore Jean where not sent away. If there is a rule it should be enforced for everyone not a select few. This is sad!!!! 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾

Same issue at this planet fitness. Obscure policies and a regional manager that can't respond to emails. Not to mention the card I was given with a number just went to another location where the manager was also not able to respond. I'll follow this review over there.

Point is the region controlled by Dustin McNeill is wholly unprofessional with the different locations giving you the run around so you never get a hold of him.

Also forgot to mention I had been going to this location for weeks while wearing crocs with no issues. It wasn't till this grown man put on nail polish that I got kicked out for "footware". Make whatever connection you want.

First and last time going here, first of all the place is really small and all the equipments are in use you gotta wait until they are not in use .

This gym is overcrowded. Even when the crowd meter is low, you will probably have to wait for some pieces of equipment. People stay on weight machines without taking a break to let people work in a set. It is not unusual to see someone using a machine for more than 15 minutes. They got rid of a pair of adductor/inductor machines when they renovated. They also got rid of their stretching cage. People frequently do not wipe down the cardio equipment (or other equipment) after use. I suggested multiple times to management that they put a note on the machines to wipe them down after use. Because they allow you to bring a guest for an unlimited number of times without restricting the hours, the gym is very overcrowded.

Whenever I feel down or stressed, I visit the Planet Fitness in Gaithersburg. I visit often because I have maintained an always exercise routine for being healthier and living longer. They have weights, bikes, and treadmills but it gets very busy from Monday to Thursday during the evening. Treadmill is a bit too close to each other. Locker room are limited with many people never locking their belongings and the bathroom is sometimes dirty and wet. Best to separate showers and toilets.

The hours, faculty and equipment are great. There’s a variety a of machines so there’s no real wait for different muscle groups. The facility is cleaned almost daily from what I’ve seen. Ample sanitation stations are located throughout the building. Beware some people still don’t clean up after themselves, I recommend cleaning the machines before usage. Especially those that will touch your skin directly like the bicep and abdominal machines. It always have a pleasant scent when I’m there. Oooh, they have buckets of candy for a nice treat as you a leave.

The best Planet Fitness I have been to yet! This location is very spacious, well equipped for any workout needs, and very well maintained! I come in pretty early in the morning and the staff is always moving around cleaning and ensuring that the gym is in the best condition! The area where the weights are is roomy, they have a good variety of machines, and they also have tons of cardio equipment as well.

Nice spot, great staff. They greet me every time i go, which is 3+ times a week. Rejoined this year right before the renovations and the new equipment is nice. A regular low cost gym, a tiny change room, no saunas, no nothing. The most annoying fact is the membership cancellation, you can't do it through a website or by phone, you would need to waste an hour of your life on communicating with their front-desk in person, and the reason for that is just to make the cancelation process as hard as possible, so they could dig deeper into your pocket.
