Good gym with well working equipment. Cleaning stations are conveniently available in many locations. I book classes easily through the app through my blackcard membership. Massage chairs are a plus. Lots of locker space.
Few complaints: 1) Poor ventilation in the men's bathroom makes it smell bad. Hope they can improve this. 2) Only one water station is usually broken and the filter light does show it's status.

I’m honestly baffled by the attitude of the staff here. They often come across as rude or inattentive, sometimes I wonder if laziness is part of the hiring requirements.

Another major problem is people hogging machines while scrolling on their phones, sometimes for long periods. If you’re not planning to actually work out and just want to sit on your phone, maybe stay home instead! I never see staff do walkthroughs or remind people to be mindful of others waiting for equipment.

These issues make it hard to take PF as a gym seriously. Between inattentive staff and machine hogs, it feels more like a casual hangout spot than a legitimate gym. I hope PF management takes these concerns seriously and enforces rules that support members who actually want to work out. But I doubt it.

I am updating my review as this location has gone through renovations and now has updated and new equipment. I don't get to use the facility as much as I used to since I am no longer working from home, but the times I have used it have been good. The doors were opened on time and the place was clean. It was also a good experience not having to use broken down and dirty equipment. The new equipment is nice.

I haven’t used this gym for the past 3 months, yet I was still paying for my membership. When I finally decided to cancel, they charged me an additional $25 cancellation fee. This is absolutely ridiculous and unfair. Their policies are designed to squeeze money out of customers rather than provide a good service.

Been coming here for months with the hope that they would atleast filtered the water! this in unsanitary and unhealthy PF should prioritize this the most!!! on top of that there's only one working stall for men and it's been this way for many months. I am truly disappointed with the state of the Planet Fitness location on East-West Highway in Hyattsville, MD. As a paying member of the Planet Fitness community, I expect a certain standard of maintenance and service, but my recent experiences have been far from satisfactory.

I have noticed that the fitness equipment is in dire need of repair. For example, the Seated Calf Extension machine pictured is essentially unusable, with no seat properly attached, making it both unsafe and impractical. The Abdominal Machine pictured has damaged padding and isn’t functioning as it should. The Leg Curl Machine pictured is also out of order, and many treadmills have out of order signs on them and are simply not operational. Adding to the frustration, the Stair Stepper pictured is out of commission, and some levers for seat adjustments are not properly securing equipment.

To make matters worse, there are active leaks in the ceiling. Water is constantly dripping into buckets scattered around the gym, creating an unpleasant and hazardous environment. This not only affects the gym's overall atmosphere, but also suggests serious maintenance issues that need urgent attention.

These problems are causing a significant inconvenience. With so many machines out of order, members are often forced to wait for equipment to free up or discontinue their workout plan altogether. This not only disrupts workout routines, but also leads to longer waits and a generally frustrating experience.

The overall condition of this facility is a major letdown and far from the standard I expect from Planet Fitness. I urge the management to address these issues promptly. Regular maintenance and timely repairs are crucial to ensure the health, safety and satisfaction of all members. I hope to see improvements soon; otherwise, I may need to reconsider my membership.

This location is always clean and has plenty of fans around. It can get busy around 5 but generally I can still find the equipment and/or space that I want. Other patrons are good about wiping down the equipment and only sitting on a piece of equipment if they're using it. During the summer PF gives free access to high schoolers - I think this is a great idea to give more free spaces to young people. That said, the kids tend to move in a group and occasionally take over a barbell area to hang out. They're polite and will move if asked. As a result - I tend to avoid the gym during the summer between 1 pm and 7 pm. It doesn't stop me from using the gym and the time shift is a personal preference - not a requirement to use the gym. I would never want the free access to be removed.

Been a member for 10+ years and used many different PF gyms when traveling for work, but this Planet Fitness location will likely be the reason we cancel membership. After moving to the area about a year ago, we’ve tried to use the gym fairly regularly but unless you only want to do cardio… it’s pretty rough. There are two machines that have legitimately been left broken without repair for 6 months, others that are on and off broken, or have pieces fall off / snap out of place while in use (row machine and a leg press most recently), and last night the final straw - four leg machines all next to each other that just did not have pins for the weights and we had to take turns using a pin with a generous guy on a machine near us. A lot equipment is also insanely squeaky and tough to use, which could be easily fixed with a generous application of WD-40. Heck I might bring a bottle in with me next time for the thigh machines. Lastly, the toilet stalls are often fairly gross. I don’t know what is going on with this PF location vs others but we’ve given it a lot of chances and it only seems to continue downhill. The only benefit is a great location, but if you have any other options we would not recommend this gym.

I stopped coming here over 6 months ago because only half the equipment would be cleaned or working. I started a new stair master challenge for the month, and only one stair master out of the four work properly. Same situation from 6 months ago. If the stair master works, then each step has cracks and holes in them so be careful, you may hurt yourself. The weight training equipment only goes up to a certain weight because you can’t stick the pin in your desired weight… a remodel is needed immediately.

They had a lot of recent mixed reviews, so I wasn’t sure what to believe about this gym. I decided to give it a shot because it’s a lot closer to me than my preferred PFs. They had at least 5-6 people on staff when I arrived. I only know this because they were all gathered at the front desk, and not one person could AT LEAST pick up near/around the front desk. I really should not have been surprised by the state of the locker rooms… I would imagine the point of having more people on staff during high peak hours is to be able to maintain the upkeep for the gym more frequently than during off-peak hours...
One could also gather that it’s for membership accountability/security reasons: making sure that everyone who came in was a member. But I honestly could’ve just walked in and walked past the front desk. The only reason I was noticed was because I had to ask where the locker rooms were.

At this point, I can only assume that the recent wave of positive reviews is probably coming from staff acquaintances, friends, or from people loyal to that location/area.

Not everyone is just a gym rat that will work out in any conditions. A fitness journey can also be a mental thing. And working out in dirtiness or broken equipment (as mentioned by another reviewer) is not helpful or ideal.

I now have to travel 30-45 minutes away to go to one of my preferred PFs where the pride in the environment and PF mission is a bit more evident. PG location, do better.

The standard this PF sets is off the roof. Cleanest PF I have ever visited or any other gym for that matter. Next covid outbreak won't happen here, trust me. All the equipments are in excellent condition. Way more dumbbells than needed so even when it's busy you'll always find the weight you need. Dumbbells are always exactly where they are supposed to be. Staffs care so much and make sure customers don't have to be responsible for their duties. Gym members are really thoughtful and never hoard up any weights. Restrooms are so clean sometimes I feel like I have entered the bedroom. Overall, you are stupid if you decide not to join this gym.

I like this gym and location. Some of the equipment doesn’t work and they don’t have wifi or scale to weigh yourself which i find odd. Also, personal hygiene should be a rule to have. Both my wife and I had a very bad experience with this location that caused us to get overbilled by hundreds of dollars through no fault of our own and in a very shady and peculiar manner.

When I signed up, I asked if I could pay with my credit card, and they said that it was fine. I then signed a contract and inputted my bank account information. A few weeks later I got an email saying there was a problem with my payment. I checked my credit card statement and saw that they had given me a late fee (even though I was supposed to be on an automatic payment), so I went into Planet Fitness and spoke with a worker. He told me that this was a problem on their end and that I would get a refund.

The following month, I got the same email and another late fee, so I went in and spoke to the manager. The manager was extremely rude. He told me that my bank account information was incorrect, and that when they take the payment from my credit card, it incurs a late fee. (I went back and looked at my contract, and my bank account information was correct.)

When I told the manager that a previous worker told me that this was a mistake on their end, the manager got strangely defensive and said something along the lines of, "I can't be held responsible for what my employees say." The bottom line: I had given the management my bank account information correctly, but was getting billed late fees on my credit card every month, and they refused to reimburse me.

This obviously caused me to cancel my membership, but when I went home, I looked into my wife's membership, and found that she had been getting late fees applied to her credit card every month too -- and I looked at her contract and she had inputted her bank account information accurately. No one had told her that her payment wasn't being processed correctly, and the emails she had been receiving from Planet Fitness to "warn her" were cryptic and said nothing about late fees.

The fact that this happened to both my wife and I makes me suspect that there are unethical practices happening at this location, especially because of how defensive management became when I brought this up to them.

Other problems with the location:
- very few free weights, causing long wait times
- MANY broken machines
- Unsanitary conditions, especially in the bathrooms. I made the mistake of showering there once, and there was a food wrapper in the shower, and clumps of hair everything. The floor had dirt caked into it, as if it hadn't been mopped in a long time.
- Rude management.

I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere!

08/2023 about 30% of the machines are broken. Sometimes there’s an “out of order” sign on them for a week or so but then the sign disappears and the machine is still broken. These machines have all been broken for over a year. The dumbbells are the best part of the gym but they’re almost always put in the wrong place because I guess numbers are hard. It does make you wonder what the staff does because you only see them refill sanitizer bottles and chill behind the front desk joking around.
