Today is October 5th, 2025. Very poor service, if possible, I would like to give no stars. I was refused entry into this house today because I was wearing a cross. I have been joining this club since 2023 and go there 5 times a week, always wearing a cross. Today was the first time I was denied entry and also the first time I was told that I couldn't wear a cross. These are all their dereliction of duty. These are not the main points, the problem is that the staff in front of me had such a bad attitude towards me because I am Asian and English is not my native language, so we cannot communicate normally. I told them that I had sneakers in my bag, but he completely ignored me and told me that you can cancel the membership at any time. I have been here for almost two years now, and today I had a very bad experience. Disrespect and discrimination. I'm just exercising.

Today, on July 24th, I had entered planet fitness for a usual work out but today I had been kicked out because I had crocs on and not shoes. This isn’t the problem, the problem is that while i was on the way out after being kicked for the crocs, I heard the front desk workers which was an African American woman and a white/asian lady say very inappropiate and disrespectful comments about me. What makes matters even worse is that I had seen multiple other people that are white get in with crocs no problem but upon seeing a foreign person go in with crocs, it’s all of the sudden a problem. I find this very unfair and I do not feel welcome here. This isn’t the first time I’ve had entry problems with the white/asian lady who works at the front desk and she has been making me feel unwelcome for a very long time. (The problems were not for crocs, they were for registration to get into planet fitness) To make matters even worse with her, she’s even raised her voice at me and my mother on another occasion when we didn’t understand something she was trying to tell us as English isn’t our first language so we both were confused and upset since we were getting talked to in a disrespectful way. My mother and I had also been getting very grossed out, bad and unwelcome looks from this Asian/white lady. Impatient, Racist, and disrespectful workers should never be working. Especially at planet fitness where people just want to get a work out in.

I have been attending this location since December 2023. I absolutely love the ambiance, location and the staff. Kenly, Marissa and Mark are very courteous and helpful! The equipment is always clean and the bathroom/locker rooms are always clean. I do have a suggestion. I was thinking since that it would be nice if there was a recycling bin in the facility and air freshener in the locker room area! Other than that it is my happy place. :-)

I have been going to this location for not quite a month and I had nothing to complain about until they started running a dog kennel at this gym on two occasions there has been dogs in there while people are working out and I find this unsafe because dogs carry germs and diseases and all though we would like to think Covid is over it’s not and the CDC says animals can carry Covid I don’t care if they do have paperwork if these nasty people need to bring a dog while they work out stay home this gym hasn’t been open that long I will give it until fall and it will be garbage just like the one in Waldorf I have spoken with him and the problem continues also I don’t want owners or managers sending emails to my phone about Pride I’m not a part of that and never will be so don’t insult me with that make this the last time please/ 5/29/25 this is for your corporate office why do you think people who pay 💰 for a membership want teenagers in the gym breaking equipment and causing problems for members parents have to be parents and take control of their kids the gym isn’t a dam daycare

The planet Fitness staff is always so so so so so very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They make the workout experience pleasant and rewarding, they encourage and motivate people to always have a good workout and it’s always so timely when you’ve really pushed yourself to make it to the gym in the first place. This place has some character. I come here daily to pretend I didn’t just eat at a taco truck- and it’s always very clean. There’s always, like, a girl dusting ceiling fans and a dude piloting some sort of … floor machine? (idk). One time a drop of my sweat hit the floor and I felt guilty about it? Like I broke something in a museum but nobody saw. They’re always playing Forensic Files on one of the TVs, just in case you need to feel vulnerable. Love that. You guys should put the subtitles on the TVs! (I’m sure you would if I asked but I have this disease where I hate bothering people) All of the staff have been real nice, including the “asian” lady. Harassing gym employees is so wildly uncool. Thanks to all, like, seven of you who work there for giving us a nice, clean space and for being kind and respectful!

An asian employee yelled at me earlier in the week for trying to change my membership from black card to regular. She said she wasnt able to do it and that I’d have to wait for a manager. I was helping my son fix his membership for a while now and changing it from my name to his since I no longer use the membership. This one asian lady kept giving us attitude and was completely UNHELPFUL and RUDE! She kept telling us to close the account and make a new one and I expressed to her that if we did that then we would have to pay the yearly fee once again. She then yelled and said “well thats what you have to do” and we left then came back another day and a manager was magically able to help. I thought it wasn’t possible? Seems like she doesn’t have a clue in the world what she is doing but that is not the problem. The problem was how she handled the situation, you could not know anything about handling a membership but still be kind to a paying customer. Before a manager was able to fix our problem we spoke to a new employee who was kind and patient and made sure to let a manager know immediately of our issue. I went in to fix my mom’s membership and transfer it from her name to my brother’s because she no longer used it and he uses it almost every day. She only speaks spanish so I went in to translate for her and this Asian employee gave us the biggest attitude saying “no we cant” and saying we had to open a new account and pay the one time yearly fee for the black card again even tho we already paid for it this year. Then we came another day and the manager fixed it with no problem. She does NOT know anything about patience or customer service and with that attitude she is only looking for problems. I considered cancelling the membership and moving my brother to another gym because why would I have MY mother pay to get disrespected and yelled at in the middle of a gym to fix such a small problem. However, when we came in another day the manager was able to fix it immediately with no problems. This is not the first time she speaks to my brother like that, he has tried to fix it countless times and she never helped. She even laughed when she saw us coming in to fix it one day and walked away telling someone else to help instead. They need to fire employees like her, I don’t know why they keep her there if she doesn’t even bother to help.

PF in La Plata is a great gym for the working parent, former athlete trying to maintain some semblance of fitness, or a beginner. The staff are friendly and the guests are considerate of time spent on equipment. Not to mention the Black Card Spa, which helps relax you after an intense workout.

My only complaint is that members be accountable for wiping down the machine when finished using it. I’ve seen it many times on the treadmill people holding the rails and using the incline and just stop it and move on to something else. Please have your staff remind folks to always wipe the equipment when finished and put it back in the original position. Maybe post signs as a reminder.

This is really the best club I have been to in awhile. The manager is one of the best managers they had at the gym in a long time. She helps with people problems with love , care, and respect . I originally gave this location five stars but I've since changed my mind after going there for 3 months.

This entire summer the bathrooms and shower areas have been without air conditioning. I brought this up to the general manager over a month ago and she said she was having trouble getting support from their corporate office.

This is a brand new location that should not have this issue.

And it shouldn't take three months to get fixed.

As I would consider myself a “Senior” at Planet Fitness, I have been coming to Planet Fitness since they opened 18mos ago every day 7 days a week. I’ve seen all the changes that have taken place, good & bad (mostly bad). How do you treat your older staff (the most friendly ones), so bad that they quit or be fired is beyond me. They were the ones that kept folks wanting to come back. It was always clean & smelling so good when Kim worked there and Cindy was very bubbly and friendly. The young staff don’t greet you (let alone want to speak). Bathroom’s are always dirty now (stall floors). As for the lounge chair that’s been broke for over a year is insane.

I'm so annoyed and sick of the hours changing at this gym without any notice. I switched from my home gym because I was told that it would eventually operate on a 24/7 schedule. It's been open for just a little over a year, and it has yet to be 24/7. I adapted my schedule to fit the limited hours, only to have the limited hours dwindle even more smh. This is at least the fifth time that the hours have fluctuated. This is quite frankly poor management and simply put...bad business. I do have to admit however, the gym is immaculate. The staff is pleasant, it has the latest equipment, and Cooper and Marco kept it well cleaned and organized during the overnight shift. However, the constant unprofessional abrupt changes are definitely a deterrent.

My question is when are the "temporary hours" going to change back to include overnight hours? What is management doing? It doesn't take this long to get fully staffed. The gym is definitely never going to get fully staffed either if management keeps firing everyone. All I keep hearing are excuses. What is the plan of action???

The gym is amazing Marco and Cooper who usually are there after 11 PM are one of the most pleasant workers that I ever met in any gym ever they are fantastic and deserve everything that can be given to them! But unfortunately, I can say less for whoever makes the decisions there. Once again without any formal notice they have decided to not make the gym 24/5 anymore. They said it’s temporary, but this is the second time in a year. When it’s that constant, it’s not temporary. 24/5 is more temporary than anything else. Nothing like slowing down progress then to waste gas anticipating a workout just to see a sign on the door that they have “temporary” hours once again. I can’t wait for the typical response “we apologize for the inconvenience can’t wait to see you at a time that works for you”. Imagine if our payments were temporary.

This planet fitness is new, clean, and in a good location. Much better than the surrounding locations, and the staff is super friendly. The ONLY downsides so far have been the chaotic hour changes and the fact that every once in awhile no one shows up to open the gym on time and people are left standing outside. This location has changed hours multiple times since it's opening in February 2023. They still haven't quite fully staffed to the the point where it can be 24 hours every day. They've prioritized 24 hours mid week, and instead have left the weekend hours and Monday hours pretty lacking. Right now this location opens at 6am on Mondays, as long as someone shows up to open it. However, there have been a handful of times over the last year where a crowd gathers outside for 30+ min waiting for the doors to open before people finally start leaving. This is super inconvenient for the members who commute to this location before work. There needs to be some kind of notification system to alert home gym members of issues like this, ie. Gym will open late, gym won't open at all for inclement weather, the bathrooms are closed (this was another major issue previously). There's a way to do it, because my old home gym used to send texts to members for weather closures. This location could be PERFECT, and it's pretty darn close. But theres a few things that could be addressed to better assist the members and keep them informed so things continue to run smoothly. Ultimately, 4.5 stars here. Just fix the communication and the hours.

Update 4/6: they have completely eliminated 24 hour days. They don't open until 6 on weekdays, making it increasingly difficult for people who work in the morning to get to the gym. Planet fitness is known for being a 24 hour gym. It's been over a year and this location still can't seem to figure it out.

The La Plata MD location is the best planet fitness I’ve been to. It is always clean, the staff always greets us, there is more than enough equipment so you aren’t waiting around on machines as well as space to workout. Beautiful facility. Was my first time , this is not my home club but I went to use the black card hydro massage . The bed wasn’t working properly so I went to the desk and asked a question . The lady on Saturday 9/2 at 10:40 started waving her hands saying “you must not be listening to simple instructions “ . I went to ask a simple question about the bed not starting especially after checking into the lounge the system couldn’t find my membership since Laplata isn’t my home club. She then kept the confrontation going after I layed down when I was calm the whole time . Addressing her as maam in a soft tone and just asking a simple question . She ruined the whole experience

I decided to sign up for planet fitness at the La Plata location and unfortunately for me it was not a close enough location for me to be able to visit so after several months of not using my subscription to planet fitness in La Plata on Crain highway I went in to the location and asked for them to cancel my subscription and I was told that it was canceled and then I would no longer be charged well. Then again last month my account got charged for their monthly subscription which come to 25.05 and I had to go back into the same location and ask them a second time to cancel this subscription, and I was assured that the refund where they had charged my account again, and was not supposed to would be returned to my account with 7 to 14 business days and now we’re going on almost a month that I have still not received a refund to my account in my opinion, this is very bad business .

Wish they had a few more 45 lb plates for the Smith machines and leg press but it's PF so the free weights will be limited. They could also use a Preacher curl bench. As a weekend warrior fitness enthusiast, 💪🏻 I am so excited to share my 5-star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟review of the new Planet Fitness location in La Plata. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed with how spacious and clean the gym is. It is a great place to work out and really focus on your fitness goals.

The assortment of equipment for all fitness levels is really impressive too. No matter what your fitness level is, you will find everything you need here. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced athlete, there is something for everyone.

I was also really impressed with the range of age groups represented here. There were older adults, young adults, and even teenagers working out together. It's a great way to bring the community together and promote healthy living.

The staff at Planet Fitness La Plata is so friendly and helpful. They always welcome you with a smile, encourage you to have a good workout and are always willing to answer questions and provide assistance. It really adds to the overall experience and makes you feel welcome.

One of the standout features of this location is the CryoLounge. This was recommended to me by the Club Manager, Connor. This location is a pilot test for the equipment for consideration to be in other Planet Fitness locations. And, It's included with the Black card membership. This equipment offers soothing healing benefits after a tough workout, using “contrast therapy” which is cryotherapy and thermogenic therapy to expose parts of the body to hot and cold temperatures, This helps to reduce inflammation and creates better circulation near injuries or areas of chronic pain. Honestly, it’s a great way to recover and feel refreshed for your next workout. And it’s right here in La Plata!!! Selfishly I hope this doesn’t encourage too many people to use it because then it might be booked when I want to use it! LOL. 😊

I’ve trained in gyms throughout my fitness journey. I’ve been to hardcore, muscle-head gyms, CrossFit boxes, health clubs and others. I used to be a member of LA Fitness in Waldorf. But I changed to go to this specific Planet Fitness. And I’m glad i did! I’m also glad that I haven’t set off the “lunk alarm” yet. Lol 😂

I like that the specialized areas are more sectioned off instead of in just one open area with all equipment. For example, Abs & stretching is in one sectioned off area and strength training in its own area, etc. Having the black card membership seems more worth it as you have to scan your member barcode to check-in to be assigned a bed/chair/station. It’s new so of course it’s clean but still not seeing people wipe down equipment after their use but this is no fault of the business of course. Additional feature are machines have a rep counter and timer (see picture) so no more losing count! I appreciate this!!
