This is one of the worst Planet Fitnesses I've been to. The bathrooms are always dirty, the floor of the women's locker room is dirty, the whole club is dirty, out of order equipment, etc. There's always people sitting on the weight machines on their phones even though they have no intention of using the machine. The front desk people have no interest in doing their jobs, yesterday the person at the front desk was just head-down staring at their phone when I came in and wouldn't even look up so someone else had to check me in. At least clean the bathrooms at bare minimum.

this location does NOT have a welcoming atmosphere, or a "judgement free zone, see truthful review... have been attacked by other members at this location on more than one occasion due to not being black and these members are racist against people for having a different skin color than their own (yes, they think attacking other races based on skin color isn't racism just because they are black). This morning (jan 17th 2025) this racist black guy in a white shirt (gang apparel) actually flipped me off WHILE i was on the pec-dec working out around 6am this morning (he was insulted and offended because he saw that there was a white person in the gym)... fyi, I am not white or "italian", I am Mexican-American. corporate and staff can't do anything to ban these members thanks to their woke anti-equality policies that don't seem to care that this is the normal form of racism in downtown silver spring (which is a known fact by locals) when the rest of the nation has the opposite problem. I don't suggest going to this gym (or living in downtown silver spring) unless you are of the locally approved black majority race... and everyone who is white or third race(non-black, non-white) is basically out of luck because these are who the racists in this region are targeting. I have not once gotten an email of apology from planet fitness for not living up to their standards of a "no judgement zone". I have cancelled my membership due to multiple assaults inside the gym from members attacking me because of my skin color and these racists have not been banned thanks to planet wokeness' policies. they failed to provide a "no judgement zone"

I like the gym, but don't like guests sitting on the machine, on their phones. The gym, needs an older person to supervise the floor. Have seen guest with redbull, cans on the equipment. , weights,In the isle so u can't walk by. Some men, think they in their living room... Some men wearing no tops and flip flops. All not allowed. This is the newest PF in the area. They have hydro rowers and all the equipment is kept in decent conditions so far. The TVs are plentiful, music is good and not too loud, cell phone yak-img is minimal and so far the "no judgement zone" is working for me.

The ANNOYING: Something that plagues the gyms around here is the inability of the gym goers to replace weights and keep things tidy for safety and pride in the darn gym. I'd like to find that one 15 lbs weight that nevern gets reracked all the time.

THE FIX:
Here are some suggestions to fix this. Tell everyone when they sign up how awesome everyone is for putting things back and making it always easy to find. Say this loudly during the tours because then it's a PSA.

Love the team for walking around and doing their best. Teach the team to also call out the poor citizenship of the gym goers when they see it.

Otherwise it's a great place. Cannot beat the deal.

I'm noticing that the gym has been significantly updated with more weights, smith machine and other items. The bad: the sprays are not being filled with any cleanser... Just water. Water while great is not going to disinfect. Please (especially in sickness season, like now) make use the roper proportions of disinfectant in the sprays.

I like planet fitness ,it a great gym and I have been with them for a while but the assistant manager in Silver Spring Bryceida Rivera is super arrogant and used her manager title to mistreat me.
Today I was at the locker getting ready to go to bathroom,she interrupted me and said "He do you know that white oak is reopened and the person at the front desk told me to tell you not with us so Imma have to ask you to leave."I told her without disrespecting her or yelling that leaving ór retransfer is not an issue because I did transfer when I went to white oak but maybe by mistake it didn't go through.and I told her my only problem is "you should tell me this information at the front desk which is more professional instead you telling me this in locker room and people could hear in bathroom.
Than Mrs Rivera quickly went front desk called manager ,I followed and asked the guys at front desk"who asked Mrs Rivera to wait for me at locker to talk about personal business "they all responded we don't have nothing to do with it because she is the manager. I said so because she the managér I can't ask my concern and Mrs Rivera asked me to leave .I called the white oak location and lady on the phone was my witness because I put on speaker ,Mrs Rivera clearly said I asked you to leave because I didn't have a word to say she the manager that I'm not assigned to the location and she doesn't want to hear me the back and forth as if she my mom I can't talk or ask questions about my account .I asked the representative on the phone to stay on the phone so I get my stuff in locker and peacefully so she witness I didn't scream curse or dó nothing wrong but I was poorly unfairly kicked out by Mrs Rivera because she didn't wanted to hear me say a word.Sad

I kept trying to set up an appointment with a personal trainer morning August 2nd 2025, but the girl kept hanging up on me then called back to keep saying hello & rejected my call. I was going to come here but nevermind. Hanging up on someone isn’t normal compared to the other locations. She didn’t even know who the personal trainer was.

I would like to recomend this location. But isn't good I became member in june and in about less two months they made three charges to my credit car I got the classic membership for 10 dollars a month. All of you make sure they are not steal your money. And another hand they not provide a good service in your own lenguage like spanish the most people that member in that Gym are latino who their not speaks English

This gym covers the basics, which is honestly all I was looking for when I signed up four months ago. I live within walking distance, it has a decent number of machines, I’ve never had problems with the staff and you can’t beat the price (I’m a basic member). I usually go late-morning Saturday or Sunday and it’s not crowded (the one time I did go on a Monday after work, it was probably at two-thirds capacity). I really like the mix of ages and that there’s always both men and women at different physicalities, ie. it’s not all beefcakes in their 20s.

I’ve read some other reviews and I’d agree that the biggest down of this PF is that bathrooms always seem to have something broken — a hand dryer, a urinal etc. But when I spend an hour at the gym, I spend like 5mins in bathroom. They also really need to fix the handles on the front door. I scratched my arm on it once. Otherwise, the place smells like a gym, which is to be expected…

This is absolutely the worst Planet Fitness I’ve stepped foot in and no I will not talk to the management because they are definitely the problem. The staff couldn’t care less about how this gym looks. The lockers rooms smell like stale urine and god knows what else.

I primarily use Pf for their black card membership and the tanning. Yesterday, I was sent to a room that had THC substance all over it. The package was left on the bed. The staff don’t clean the rooms after each use. Also the tanning machines are broken. Bed 7 has 17 bulbs out. Bed 8 shuts off at 5 mins every time. Bed 9 (the one with the substance) doesn’t even work. Bed 10 has bulbs out as well.

Do better PF! I’m surprised that anyone goes to this location.

I came to this location (my home gym) which i come to all the time to do my normal routine and was alerted by the front desk guy that i had a balance. I was confused because i had paid my monthly a few days prior. He informed me it was my annual fee. No problem whatsoever; I asked if it was ok to pay on Friday when I got paid he then proceeds to tell me he can’t let me in for the day unless it was paid. Which i thought was a little extreme. I called 2 other locations and asked the same question and they were more than willing to allow the workout for the day and notate that I would be paying on Friday in the account. I asked the 2 front desk guys if at their discretion was I not about to receive that courtesy and his response was “ you’re right it’s at our discretion and we said No.” super rude and definitely frustrating for someone who wasn’t being abrasive or rude. Just wanted a one-time courtesy. Definitely save your money because the staff here (Troy and Charlie) are terrible and so is the cleanliness of the location. Absolutely disgusting .

Needs to be shut down! The dirtiest gym lady locker room ever! The filth is so obvious, even Stevie Wonder can see it, and the stinch from it is ridiculous!!! How can a gym remain open with such disgusting, unsanitary conditions?! I reported it to several staff various times across weeks, but nothing has changed. The massage beds are inoperable and all of the cleaning spray bottles to wipe down machines were near empty, unlike other locations. Seems like staff here just don't care as I saw none of them clean, refill bottles, or do anything in my whole three hours there.

All the treadmills are run down. You cannot safely run on these. When told all they said it is up to manangement as they are replaced every 5 years. Currently they are on year 4 and will not do anything about it. Most of the massage machines are broken and do not work much of the equipment has out of order signs. This gym location violates several health codes and could be shut down permanently with one phone call. One phone call that will happen within 14 days if they do not get their act together.

I hate to say it but this place is ghetto. Expect to witness a fight in the gym at least twice a month. I once witnessed an aggressive verbal argument between one of the desk staff and a gym patron. Homeless people often enter and use the equipment and don't get removed. Don't bother coming between 7am-9am or 4pm-7pm because it is so packed that there is no equipment available or locker space. It's also extremely hot in this gym so you'll break a sweat just standing still. Most of the equipment works so it's a good gym if you need a place to workout, keep your head down and mind your business. Just expect to get frustrated with how packed it gets and weights not being re-racked.

Your location is good and epicenter to the downton. Your staff is welcoming and cooperative. The overall atmosphere in the gym is very nice,, but the music you transform with the microphone is so loud and sometimes disturbing. The different channels on TV's are very good. The cleaning material is good but the bathroom sometimes is not clean. The equipments/working machines are good but very few are not properly functioninong and has strange sound. Some customers are so loud and running in the treadmill so fast and disturbing others.

As with most planet fitness gyms they are set up relatively the same. Winchester is nice as it’s laid out better than most that I have been too. The location is large enough that things are properly spaced out. Its also the cleanest Planet Fitness I’ve been too.

Let's go directly to the bad. What is bad about this gym? that doesn't have a free movement bench press as the same for the Squat rack. It only has a machine bench press and Squat, so if you are use to working more with free motion, this is a problem, BUT you can steal do the workout just fine.
The other thing that i see for the gym to improve is that they can install a paper towel machine.
Other than the previous sad everythingis great!
Last but not least, i want to appreciate the small tour that Nate and his tema gave me. They were very friendly and nice, good work.

It’s on par with other planet fitnesses I’ve been to. Lacking heavier dumbbells and barbells all together, you can still get the job done and for something like $10 a month, it’s tough to beat. Go in with those expectations and you should have a good gym experience. It does get very crowded upstairs with younger lifters. Put your headphones in and get after it.

post covid is a whole new thing, staff does not even lift their heads to greet you or say good bye, they are glued to phones, tablets, and laptops.

dirty is an understatement, and i MEAN UNDERSTATEMENT. no way possible this gym is cleaned daily , at best they may take out the trash everyday, and that's about it.

So I can honestly say that I made the mistake of switching locations from Gallery Place NW to Silver Spring. This location equipment looks horrible,the locker rooms/bathrooms are NASTY. Also people will literally sit down for 30 + minutes on a machine while not being active,just using their phones. It’s really frustrating to say the least especially when you have a system going on a time frame and have to wait a half hour to use a machine. Staff should really enforce a smaller wait period for the machines so that it doesn’t become a problem. Also do better with the cleanliness of the facility because I really expected this location to be top tier. Definitely will switch back once I get the opportunity if things don’t change because I refuse to PAY to be in a dirty environment.

By far the dirtiest worst Planet I've been too! The bathrooms were disgusting the multiple times I've been there. The equipment was dirty and lacking. I brought these things to the front desk's attention and he shrugged it off. Also had dudes flexing in the public mirrors. Normally I don't care but I come to Planet to avoid this type of environment.

Won't be coming back unless they do a better job at maintaining hygiene and Planet's basic standards.

I live down the street and decided to go yesterday. It was a wonderful experience. The only thing I was confused about was the parking I had to park in the garage and pay for parking but I didn’t know if it was a free parking lot for them that was the only dislike.
