This used to be one of the nicest Planet Fitness locations in the area, but the tanning equipment has gone downhill. Bed #2 doesn’t work, bed #1 shuts off halfway through, and for weeks the only working option has been bed #8. I even stopped going for a month to give them time to fix things, but nothing has changed.

I pay for a service that isn’t being provided, and it’s clear there’s no intention of repairing the equipment. As a business owner, maintaining equipment is a basic responsibility. Sadly, this location is starting to decline like many others, which is disappointing

I am a Black Card member - I like the convenience of working out at different gyms when I travel and I like the tanning benefit my card offers me. I get SO FRUSTRATED at this gym because 50% of the time, the tanning bed isn't working and then sometimes the stand-up unit isn't working either or shuts off part-way through. I have spoken to the front desk numerous times and they recommend trying another gyms since tanning is "not a priority here". This is the closest gym to my house and it is frustrating that it is such a crapshoot whether or not their equipment will be working.

I came early in the morning to workout and the lobby was muggy and hot, the workout area was muggy as hot. A little sweat is cool with me but I prefer to sweat from actually working out. Not sweating from just standing where some bozo has turned the A/C down. Probably was “too cold” …. Oh well, put on more clothes and keep the facility cool so people can workout comfortably. If I walk in and it’s like that ever again I’m gonna call and write the corporate office because it’s pathetic and annoying.

I thought this place was safe but there are many thieves and carjackers. My car got vandalized here and almost stolen!!! They completely tore off the door handle and almost drove off. Everything happened right in front of their building with cameras everywhere but yet they have 0 footage of the incident. Till today, Nothing was been done to address the issue or even prevent it from happening to others… im never coming back here again and will find a better gym that at least cares about what happens on their premises

When I was leaving the state I went there to cancel my membership the customer service confirmed that my membership has been canceled but keeps getting charged and I only figured out I can actually cancel it only when I talk with a online agent so I have been charged for a year and still because I can't cancel it anymore I don't want to pay the past due knowing I tried to cancel it

Darius (General Manager) runs a tight ship at this location. Although the gym itself is in a basement, there are plenty of mirrors and lights that don’t make it feel that way. The staff is friendly and the space is clean. Even when it’s busy the gym has plenty of space so you don’t feel crowded and can get your workout in.

They renovated the gym but not much has changed besides new wallpaper. Much of the equipment is gone and the replacement date keeps changing. Half of the treadmills are broken. There is not enough equipment for the amount of people that visits this location.

Its a very nice facility. It has all the spa amenities. I gave a 4 star rating because I did not feel warm welcome fuzzies at all. The person at the entance desk was cooly polite and highly uninterested in being there. Not a negative experience exactly, but having been to at least 6 different facilities in the last month, this was disappointing.

It's a relatively small and outdated gym compared to the one I used to visit at the Bowie location. But because I moved, this is the closest location. The machines could benefit from upgrades (especially stairmaster and treadmill), and it would be great to have a designated area, like an ab section, for stretching or floor workouts. Additionally, the layout feels a bit confusing.

This is the worst gym ever I was at the white oak location,going down the steps the assistant manager stopped me and said that I should not let my stuffs in the locker for next time, that I should bring my stuffs the same day.I told him yes no problem but I told him starting from I want my account close that I'm going to get my stuff from my locker and It will be my last day.
When I went down to get my stuffs from locker they already broke my locker and put all my stuff in plastic bag with one missing item .When I ask them where my stuffs they said they didn't see it and called the police on me I waited for the police and told them I'm not leaving until they told me where my stuffs that s when the staffs brought my stuffs .I will sure press charge them for touching my stuffs with telling me cause they have my phone number and also breaking my lock 🔒 that I bought.In stead of controlling their rude employees they try to control their costumers.This started since Silver spring location.They will talk to you like trash and expect you not to fight back no way with me

I like this gym. It is somewhat small but looks to have been recently renovated. It is underground so reception is poor but perhaps that helps with focus. The machines are newer than local Planet Fitness locations. The employees are nice. I would recommend it to anyone local.

Beginning on Sun, 28 July 2024 at 10pm, the Planet Fitness (PF) gym at White Oak along New Hampshire Ave of Silver Spring is CLOSING for extensive renovations.

The overhaul could take anywhere from 1 to 3 months!

That means, don't even think about coming to that gym before 26 August 2024 (Monday) and the delaycould go longer. .

I will provide a posting when the newly renovated gym reopens.

Until then, while the gym is closed, basic members can use any other PF gym.

Several treadmill machines have broken down for SEVERAL weeks, and no repairs are forthcoming. You'd think a facility like this would have a contract with a repair company especially during summer months when usage is high, instead they are just happy to slap a 'not working' sign on whatever breaks down with no expectation on when they'll be usable again.

Fans are NOT cleaned regularly.

Disinfectants are more diluted than those all-inclusive alcoholic drinks u get from the resorts (and that's saying a lot coz u know them drinks are trash 😆). They make a show of cleaning surfaces, but I can promise u all the germs are looking at them like,'What u talk about, wallace?'

Listen, as far as the cost goes, they are very reasonable, but if you expect QUALITY, you'd just have to shell out more money n go somewhere else which is just what I'm about to do.

I am at lost for the words to truly express how disappointed and disrespected I feel as a paying member, a black card member at that. I have been working out at this location going on one year, and have never felt valued. Front desk associates never greet or welcome you, just plain rude. On May 9th an employee by the name of RUBEN MASSON approached me rudely approached me about my gym bag while working out, I told him that I’d bring my lock next time, he continued to stand there while I was working out. Few minutes later, the assistant manager Darius came down stair to tell me that same thing, I was cooperative but he also mentioned that my bag was neatly stationed in one are. On my way out of the gym this same employee RUBEN MASSON snickered something about me to a latin young male also working the front counter. In complete shock of the unprofessional behavior of the two males I addressed the issue to my brother and sister, who are also members of PF…disgusted by the two male’s behavior my brother walked in and spoke to RUBEN MASSON in order to make him understand that customers are to be treated with respect. RUBEN MASSON WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND MENTIONED THAT IT IS NOT HIS JOB TO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR MEMBERS!!! ALSO, RUBEN MASSON CANCELLED MY MEMBERSHIP WITHOUT MY CONSENT AND WROTE “HAHA” on the signature line. I WILL BE TAKING THIS UP WITH CORPORATE. RUBEN MASSON should not be in customer service. His nonchalant and disrespectful behavior is not what members should deal with.

I don’t know. It doesn’t look like the Planet Fitness facilities you see on TikTok or Instagram. Its small, a lot of broken equipment, not enough fans, and it’s ALWAYS crowded so you never really have the opportunity to walk around and see what all they have. There’s also no evening or weekend classes. I’ve expressed concerns to management but I guess you just get what you pay for.

No pressure, there is helpful staff and other patrons. I never feel uncomfortable asking for help or inquiring how a universal machine works and what it does for me... First off I will be canceling my membership today. Don’t think you’ll be paying $10 every month, they charge $49.00 for something called a “fit club” every year. They claim it was written in the membership sign up form. Probably had didn’t specify or highlighted the part they will charge you $49.00 every month because they just want to take your money. For someone that barely use their gym I deserve a refund, but they say it’s a non refundable fee. I would literally have a whole cult rate this gym a one star. Front desk people are bad communicators. The gym stink literally every time I go there, bathrooms are the worst smell absolutely disgusting.

Of all the planet fitness establishments that I've visited from Maryland to Florida, from Forestville to Gaithersburg. The Planet Fitness in Whiteoak is by far the worst!

The dirtiest, the most broken, no hand sanitizer having, broken equipment having, no visible staff on the gym floor having (front desk is upstairs) Gym that I've ever been to.. police are constantly called because of locker room theft. People fight and the staff never knows what happened, because they are always upstairs

The 2 front dest manager's are non attentive, dismissive and overall rude.. by the way, I've been a member for over 10 years

I recently started going to Planet Fitness and I'm really impressed with the clean and comfortable atmosphere. Most of the staff are friendly and welcoming, but I have to give a special shoutout to Allana at the front desk. She always greets me with a beautiful smile and makes me feel like a valued member. And Phil, the trainer, is amazing! He's so friendly and knowledgeable, and he's helped me improve my fitness goals in just a few short weeks. Overall, I'm really happy with my experience at this gym and I look forward to continuing to work out here.

Joined here for the convenient training sessions, and in January it was great. Then the trainer left and all classes were canceled for a while. Now I understand they have a new person, but I have reserved classes showing available onlune the past couple weeks, but have seen no signs of a class. This is probably good for a basic workout place, but don't join expecting any service.
