For starters, this a beautiful studio and many of the members I met were incredibly kind and welcoming. However, my experience with the cancellation process left me deeply disappointed.
Pure barre offers a unique fitness style that unfortunately illuminated some weaknesses I didn’t even know I had! After being a member for two months, I informed the owner verbally that I would not be able to continue due to the moves exacerbating a prior injury from pregnancy. We discussed it and she then informed me that the contract required a three-month minimum, which I respected — I paid for the third month in full, even though I could not participate.
When I later followed up by email to confirm my cancellation, I was told that because my message did not meet their full 30-day notice requirement, and I was now obligated to pay for a fourth month as well. What I found most disheartening is that despite this being a very small, intimate studio where the owner is also one of the instructors and prior conversations regarding my hip had happened face to face… none of those interactions held more weight than the membership agreement.
If you join, familiarize yourself with the entirety of the membership agreement! Be aware that while the environment is warm and conversations feel genuine, money trumps all and the policies are enforced with zero flexibility. If you value human understanding as much as fitness, this may be something to consider.

Pure Barre Annapolis recently reopened under new ownership and I couldn't be more thrilled. I was an OG from back when this studio was under different ownership. While I was sad when it closed, the community and general vibe had been dwindling for a while.
Every class I have to been to since the reopening has been challenging and engaging. Attendance has picked up significantly even in the first month of operation - the class I went to today was full and vibes were on point. The new owner, Angelica, taught the class and is a natural coach - one of the best I've had since starting Pure Barre (though all current coaches are fantastic).
Pure Barre itself is the first workout I've ever been able to stick to. It makes me feel strong, flexible, and allows me some much-needed mindfulness in every class. I didn't realize how much I missed it until starting back up - I feel like myself again!
Thank you to Angelica, Jess, and anyone else who made the studio reopening possible!

SCHIESTY COMPANY. FRAUDULENT PROMOTIONS. Promotions advertising “package” deals are apparently interchangeable with memberships. You will be charged monthly without clear understanding that you have signed up for a membership IN ADDITION TO late fees. And good luck trying to get in touch with anyone to resolve any problems. Not to mention, over packed class space and limited scheduling. Will never go back. *my experience and opinion*
May I reiterate, WITHOUT CLEAR UNDERSTANDING and MY EXPERIENCE, MY OPINION. As written above, this is not the type of business or people I want to spend my time on. Will never go back.
All the best.

Asked repeatedly to adjust my monthly payment due to COVID, was paying $169 per month even though there were no in person classes. Everyone was able to see online classes no matter their membership. Ignored my emails about lowering payments since everyone could only do classes online. Ignored my emails until my contract ran out. Would not recommend because they were not a accommodating during this time even though I expressed my economic hardships.

I have so enjoyed coming to the Annapolis Pure Barre studio since 2015. I recently joined as a pure start member, and I am so happy I did! It is a wonderful community of instructors and fellow members. All of the instructors are so friendly and energetic. You can tell they all love teaching barre and being there! I always highly recommend Pure Barre to all of my friends, and if you're in the Annapolis area, this is an amazing studio to join!

After reaching out to cancel a 4-pack pass for classes because it was not initially clear that this was a membership, I was met with not understanding or a willingness to cancel immediately but a snippy reply from the owner about how it is 'obvious' that packs are a recurring membership. I would have been charged $79 a month indefinitely had I not realized I had been charged on a recurring basis and sent an email to cancel- as a heads up you have to give 30 days notice to cancel so if you've purchased a pack for classes you are really agreeing to pay twice the amount you see, unless you give notice to cancel in 30 days they day you buy it. Plenty of people love pure barre and I enjoyed the classes when I attended them. However, there are plenty of other gyms and classes around the area who have an appreciation for customers who choose their businesses and do the right thing by them to secure their future business. This Pure Barre isnt one of those.

Well, after reading though reviews, it looks like I am not the only one experiencing poor customer service at this studio- including rude management and hidden policies.
This week I booked a class for my friend who is a mom to a new baby. I had planned to go to her house and watch baby so she could go work out. Morning of the class my friend calls and says she can’t go since babe woke at 4am and she was sick too. I called in enough time to cancel the class. The instructor answered and said no problem, cancelled my friend from the class but asked if I minded calling back to have the manager do the refund since she wasn’t sure how and had to run into class. She left the manager a note. No problem.
I called back later, and the studio owner, Susan, answered the phone. I told her who I was and was pretty rudely informed that they never refund classes. What?? Apparently the policy is listed on the email receipt, but I would never have known that because neither my friend nor I received an email receipt. Apparently also I should just know the policy. I live in Virginia and had only ever been to this studio once. I asked her to make an exception considering the circumstances with sick mom and baby, and since the instructor said a refund was no problem. Susan told me that her instructor would NEVER tell someone that they could do a refund, and that there would never be any exceptions to this policy.
Pretty appalled. Some of the worst customer service I’ve ever received.
I’d like to add that I hosted my friend’s bachelorette party here, so this studio has seen lots of my money and patronage. Terrible.

After almost 3 years of going to Pure Barre I can tell it's gone gradually downhill. There used to be really good instructors, but everyone I loved has left and moved on to better opportunities. Current instructors - awful in my opinion. They obviously need more training because their instructions contradict what they really want you to do. Watching one of the new instructors, Emma, take a class I could tell she did not understand what Pure Barre stands for. Her moves had such large amplitude which negated all the previous direction for small, but targeted movements. I was watching her swing her legs back and forth and it killed all motivation to stick to this facility.
The new renovation of the studio is another topic. Everything that gave this facility some charm was wiped clean. It became black and white, the signature barres everyone loved are gone, as well as the name boards that would show how close you were to a milestone. That was one way to celebrate customers and their achievements - GONE now.
It was quite disappointing that I had been waiting to hit my 250th class for so long, and when it finally came - nobody acknowledged it. This huge milestone for which I spent so much time and money to achieve went completely unnoticed. The owner along with the instructor did not say a word. I received a lame generic email with congrats. This just shows how they really "value" their loyal customers.
The worst part is payments. There are hidden terms - be aware of that. When you purchase a 4 class/monthly commitment, you are really signing up for another month - they require a 30 day notice to discontinue your autopay. There are no non-autopay options. This is how they recruit you for at least 2 months with your purchase of a 1 month membership. I have also previously frozen my membership due to pregnancy and kept being billed. I was lucky I had noticed the charges on my credit card statement and contacted Susan with a reminder that my membership is on freeze and there shouldn't be any new charges, but again it shows how sloppy their business management is.

This was an extremely bad experience. I went for the $99 month membership. Never once did someone greet me or say hi when I walked in. Most everyone was rude and cliquey. Also, I was totally scammed and was charged $100 for cancelling a membership I apparently signed up for. I’ve tried emailing several times and have gotten no response. So unfortunate because I was really looking forward to joining this community. Save your time and money. Go to Tribe Cycle. It’s worth it there.

I have been working out at Pure Barre Annapolis for almost 4 years and I love it. I have never been athletic or exercised as regularly as I have these past few years doing Pure Barre. I love the way the workouts make my body and mind feel. I can often "burn off" a headache by going to class, and it always helps my mood. I feel stronger and more fit than I've ever been in my life. I don't know if I look any better, but my body image is certainly better. Pure Barre is also a great way to clear my mind. I recommend Pure Barre to everyone: friends, family, and clients. I really like the instructors and quality of the classes at Pure Barre Annapolis. The instructors are very friendly, upbeat, and encouraging, and they remember everyone's names. I like that there are people of all ages and fitness levels in class, and the atmosphere is supportive and non-judgmental. The workout is very satisfying and I feel like I've accomplished something with every class. It's a great way to start or end the day. Try it!

Pure Barre is a fantastic workout - fast-paced, high energy and intense without being painful or exhausting. And the Annapolis studio is awesome; the staff and instructors are helpful, encouraging and enthusiastic. This workout can be for every body, regardless of previous workouts or ability! I can't recommend it highly enough.

I was very disappointed tonight to be turned away that I could not participate in class because I had shorts on. I can understand your reasoning, however if you would've had that on your class description when I used the app Real Flexi, I would made proper clothing choices. I understand that is on your website, however how would I know that from using a third party app. It also was extremely embarrassing that everyone in the class knew why I could not participate even though the instructor was very kind about it. I managed health clubs for years and communication is key for your members and prospects.
