Where do I begin? I stumbled upon Recharge while doing an internet search for local CrossFit gyms - however I was apprehensive about joining another CrossFit-only gym, as I was still rehabbing a shoulder post-surgery. I was down in the dumps about what to do, since I knew I needed to get moving again but was still scared of injury. It turns out the perfect solution was just down the road from me the whole time. How lucky was I?

I drove over for a visit and to get a feel for what Recharge was all about. The owner welcomed me in, listened to my story, and explained what they had to offer. It sounded too good to be true - to have coaches who are actual doctors of physical therapy, planning and overseeing every workout to ensure my rehab continued down the right path and that I'd make it back to post-rehab condition, building strength and feeling better. I had hit the jackpot!

I was welcomed with a 3-session work-up to evaluate where I was at the time, related to my form, strength and any needs I had for modification - for me, that was my shoulder. From the first actual class session, I felt a sense of belonging with a coach who boldly shouted out a friendly and enthusiastic hello, introduced me to the other members in the class, and proceeded to let me know what I would be doing in place of specific movements in the workout. I didn't even have to explain my situation to the coach. She saw it all on her iPad and knew exactly what to do. I knew at that point I had chosen the right place. I remember driving home so happy that evening.

That was four years ago. I've since worked through another entirely different rehab and am happy to say I am stronger than I've ever been (in my late 50s) and am so happy to surround myself with the Recharge community. The owner's vision has always been to provide a place for folks to not only get stronger and feel better in a gym setting through planned and precise movement, but to also allow for additional important aspects of everyday health, particularly the social aspect. The owner and coaches are truly movement experts - but they are also friends, promoting a community of "misfits," as we call ourselves, who enjoy hanging out together in different ways.

Recharge's new location is cutting-edge, clean, and filled with equipment that keeps us strong, challenged, and happy. Carefully planned programming and events keep us moving wisely and make us smile too. I can't say enough about how lucky I feel to have found Recharge. It has definitely had a hugely positive impact on my life. Thank you so much, Recharge!

I joined Recharge in October 2024 after a significant ankle break in May. I was still in physical therapy, but cleared to start working out, and I was pretty determined to regain as much mobility as I could. I was pretty intimidated as this was a different gym than I was accustomed to, but I was also motivated to challenge myself. Recharge has been so much more than I expected…the most amazing coaches who encouraged me to try challenging exercises and helped me succeed through modifications as I regained strength, members who are genuine and cheer each other on…a really great community of people who make working out a lot of fun and extend that fun in activities in and out of the gym. I couldn’t be more grateful to have found Recharge and am so appreciative of their expertise. I feel overall stronger than I did before my injury and found a new community…doesn’t get any better than that!

Recharge is a safe place to work on your body under the guidance of trained physical therapists. All workouts are designed in a cycle that builds strength, flexibility and balance. This cycle of growth keeps things interesting. Getting myself back on track since covid has been not only physically challenging but mentally. I happen to work upstairs from Recharge and decided to go down and see what it was all about. Im really glad I did. Gene, Meghan and Michelle are just....incredible. They listened to my concerns, my struggles and when I cried, I was understood. I've been encouraged to push myself but also to listen to my body. Im so far from where I want to be, but I know Im in the right place to get there. The other members are also really great people. I've been needing a community and I have found one. My only regret is waiting so long to join.

I used to dislike going to the gym because I felt lost and didn't know what to do. However, everything changed when I joined Recharge. Now, I'm so excited about exercising! Recharge has changed my life. It's not just a gym. It's a community. The first workout I did at recharge they made me feel like I was part of their community for years.

I joined Recharge with back pain issues that had lasted for months straight, to the point that I couldn't even tie my shoes. Within a couple weeks I was already moving as if I was never injured. And can honestly say that ever since I have been the most active aí have ever been. Recharge makes me motivated to exercise.

An incredible group. One of three folks run each workout. Surprise, they are all Licensed PT's. Workouts have lots of variety. While set with a max of 10 people, usually runs between 6 & 8 at any one workout. A lot of individual attention during the workouts focusing on technique and encouragement. All clients I have met so far are really nice people and are not into any one-upmanship/competition etc. High tech with sign up app, choice of 5 workout times to choose from each weekday and some Saturday times.

This is a gym like no other. A friend told me about Recharge. At the time I was recovering from an injury. All the coaches are physical therapists and they can help you, she told me. She was right. I almost never write reviews of anything, but Recharge definitely merits a shout-out. If you made a New Years resolution to get in shape, I highly recommend this place. All of the programming and coaching is done by physical therapists with a significant amount of fitness knowledge and experience. The workouts focus on both strength and cardio so you don't need to exercise beyond 3x a week here (although if you do, you will be in better shape for your running, biking, etc.) The coaches are friendly and supportive -- the amount of attention you get is similar to personal training. And the other members are also friendly and welcoming, which creates a non-threatening environment. I actually look forward to attending workouts here!

It's been a little over a year since I've joined Recharge, and I'd like to share 3 things I've learned:
1. Anybody can move: whatever limiting beliefs you may have about your fitness level, physical abilities or health limitations, know that there is some type of physical activity that you can safely do. The coaches/PTs at Recharge will meet you where you are, and work with you to safely improve your fitness level and reach whatever goals you have.
2. Movement is, indeed, medicine - check out Recharge's podcast and youtube channel Movement is Medicine. Tons of useful information, and you get to "meet" the 3 physio coaches (you get a glimpse of how amazing they are as professionals and as human beings).
3. Working out can be fun, and it's best when it's done within a community, like the wonderful one Recharge has built around it.

I am grateful to have found them and I have no doubt I'll continue to grow stronger and fitter here.

When I was searching for a pilates class, I was confused by options provided by many companies. Then I hit upon RECHARGE and read about how they operate and what they offer. The SENIOR STRONG class sounded perfect for me--and addressed my needs better than a pilates class. This was the best decision! I really have benefited from my 3-day a week class and look forward to each and every session. Our trainer, Megan, is professional, fun, encouraging and makes sure we are doing everything to prevent injury while making us work as hard as possible. The results I have seen are excellent! I love Recharge. It’s great to have DPTs who can help you adjust your workouts dependent upon any soreness or injury that you have. They are encouraging, as is the whole crew of Misfits. Everyone in the gym is accepted for where they are on their fitness journey. There is truly no judgment, only cheers of encouragement. The gym is not big, which I think allows for the camaraderie and positivity I have experienced. The best thing is I am now hooked. The workouts are varied and tailored to your abilities. Each month you get a one on one with one of the physical therapists, which is great. If you have been considering joining a gym but have been hesitant, give Recharge a try. Age is no deterrent. They have a traditional workout, as well as one for seniors, so there is something for everyone. I am 68 and I do their regular workouts three times a week. If I can do it so can you:)

I’m a paraplegic with a T1 complete SCI. The progress I’ve made at Recharge since I’ve started there continues to surprises me every day. I have never been a “gym” person, but Recharge is a place where I have learned that I am far more capable than I imagined, and I am surrounded by people who want me to succeed. Having used the PT side of Recharge, I can attest to the coaches’ ability to get you through an issue you may have and to modify workouts so that you can participate in a safe, yet fully productive manner. I have also recently utilized the women’s health program and am seeing positive progress in particular areas of my health that I previously felt were things I’d just have to live with. 4 months in to regular classes here and I’m very impressed with the commitment, engagement and care of the trainers and PT team. Highly recommend for short or long-term physical therapy items or as a daily (3-6 days per week) fitness routine. Note all class-based (but many time options), little “open/free gym time” and the rotating programs have a core of CrossFit, but are more holistic and very helpful guiding modified and alternative movements.

I needed Dr. Gene's help with two separate injuries. In both cases Dr. Gene was nothing but a genie! Dr. Gene doesn't only heal the body but first and for most he heals the mind. By understanding the source of the pain he helps the total recovery.
My few meetings with Dr. Gene have been opposite experiences I had with other physiotherapists, orthopedic and surgeons who were taking the regular, common practices that did not help at all.

He has a great understanding of movement and is able to help each individual optimize movement patterns to help decrease pain and prevent injury during exercise. During the class I was able to participate in my first crossfit workout. It was really fun and it focused on working as a team with those around you.

Dr. Ryan Smith held a Movement Analysis this past Saturday that I was invited to attend with a few of my classmates. It was my first experience with CrossFit and I loved it. It was well worth the two hour trip. A beautiful and clean facility along with Ryan's high energy, positive outlook and love for his job will make you feel comfortable and right at home. He is very knowledgeable and it is easy to see he has a passion for what he is doing. I only wish I lived closer.

I had the opportunity to attend a very informative presentation and lab given by Dr. Ryan on key movements that many people take for granted. Not only was it informative, but Dr. Gene and Dr. Ryan's teaching styles kept things fun and humorous all while emphasizing key points. I tried Cross Fit for the first time at HOCO. It was a really good workout and overall amazing experience. Ryan was personable, funny, patient and extremely knowledgable! I am a middle aged women working on my fitness and Ryan tailored the workout to meet my need to learn yet still made it challenging.
