This gym has been around since 2013! While the name and branding have changed twice since the original, the spirit and community are as strong as ever with a focus on boxing, kickboxing, overall health, and supporting each other.

Gyms have never been my happy place-until my husband convinced me to go to Rise( he’s been a long time follower/student of Ben’s). It is a serious gym-not fussy, with all the right equipment -but it is the professionals who work there ( shout out to owner Ben and trainer Cole) who attract a group of people that you genuinely want to be around-even when struggling through a workout . Encouraging but serious about fitness, all ages and zero judgement. This gym is now one of my happier places( even on, or especially on, a gross, cold rainy day).

I am so grateful for this gym family. I feel encouraged and motivated in a time in my life where I haven't been feeling the best. This year has been been a clinging on hope kind, and with every new obstacle thrown into the mix, I could feel it start getting overwhelming. The 2 days I pop in for personal training has transformed my life, and fills my cup weekly. (so needed).
In 2022, 23 & 24 I worked at a gym and nutrition life from home, with mentors. I spent thousands on plans and programs. While extremely active, I didn't feel better, look better or lose weight. With major changes in life and the health concerns of some family I was not making quality time for me. I had known Ben and other trainers from spending a lot of time in the gym a decade prior. I would reach out with questions here and there. I reached out to Ben to start PT. I cancelled (cause life) and then re-signed months later, knowing life may not change. I was very nervous feeling my endurance was crap but I had had enough of just not enough. I know the gym changes lives, that's a given. This decade for me its all been different: The gym is healing me. Ben is not only a great coach and hard worker, he is knowledgeable and encouraging. He's very easy going. I have surpassed expectations, am stronger and committed. I pray I stay on this path cause I need it. For anyone out there in my position: You can start again every single day. (that's what I had to do and I am so glad I did).

Rise is the best. Hands down. Whether you're trying to lose 5 pounds or 50 pounds or just trying to stay in shape, they have a plan for you that will work. Ben is patient and thoughtful and really cares about getting results. You might curse him a little under your breath during a workout but afterwards, when you've actually done what you didn't think you could do, you appreciate him all the more.
Workouts I do with Cole are equally productive and he, too, has the patience and knowledge to get you in shape and keep you there.
Most of all, Rise is a family and that makes going there a joy, not a chore. I'd give Rise even more stars if Google would let me.

I’m a longtime member who took a break for awhile and am currently training with Ben and Cole. They both challenge me to push past what I even think I’m capable of (safely, of course). Every workout has helped me get that much closer to realizing my goals. If you are looking for a gym that truly embodies what “community” is all about, then look no further. Rise has been my gym of choice under a few names. It’s a great make what you want of it place. If you want classes, low key self paced exercise, personal training, nutrition and weight loss counseling and programs or just looking to work out and have a good community and meet great people this is the place. The gym culture here seems to be unique. People care and people want to be there. The staff is uber friendly and practices what they preach. 100% would recommend to anyone.

My favorite thing about Rise is that it is a gym for everyone. No matter how many gyms, how many "science-based" trainers are on Youtube or Instagram or TikTok, none of them can compare to the trainers and the members of Rise. yes, it's a gym. Lift weights. Take classes. Let trainers beat on you a little (hahaha). It is also more. it is a community and that is what makes Rise special. The trainers -- whether Ben or Hayden or Josh or Cole or Kevin or Meredith (or anyone I may have forgotten) -- are all knowledgeable and understand each person is a little different in body composition or level of competence or fitness. Each trainer takes the time to stress proper form and technique and works with individuals -- even in class settings -- to ensure they get the maximum benefit from working out.

There are no gimmicks, no silly high-tech approaches. It is good, old-fashioned training and it hooks you in almost immediately. Once you start, there really is no stopping. One of the mottoes at Rise is "Never given, only earned." it is something of a mantra that carries outside of the gym. It is why, after trying multiple different gyms and multiple different trainers, I keep going back to Rise and, hopefully, will keep doing so. Check it out! Stop in, meet Ben and the others, workout, take a class. You'll get hooked, too, and that is a very good thing!

At 66, I tore my MCL playing competitive singles tennis, completely. After physical therapy, Hans recommended that I see Ben for physical training. I told Ben that it was really important for me to remain active and that my first goal was skiing in CO in 4 months. The first 4-6 weeks barely used any weights, instead Ben focused on range of motion exercises, engaging other muscle groups, proper form, and slow steady effort with gradual increases. Then Ben added in weights, but still focusing on the other things, like step up lunges with hand weights (ugh!). When I got back from CO, I showed Ben my stats from Slopes. My buddy and I skied every day, for 5 days straight, most all day, even during a snow storm when we had the mountain to our selves (no lift lines). We averaged 16,000+ vertical feet per day. No double blacks, but you know, I’m not as young as I once was. Thanks Ben! Thanks Rise Fitness!

Rise is a fantastic gym! It really does feel like a family. I’ve been to so many gyms that had cliques and it affected my experience. I never once felt like an outsider at Rise.

The owner, Ben Biondi, is an incredible trainer. He will kick your butt but always has modification for you if you have injuries or other limitations.

The classes are great, some more than others. Truly this is a great gym and you get so much value for $90 a month.

Today was my first Fight Fit class and my first time at Rise. Kevin showed me around the gym and took the time to explain the basics of the class with me. As a veteran who is not new to exercise, I can say this may have been the best workout of my life. It was a full body workout, it was challenging, and it sent my endorphins through the roof. This gym has been life-changing for me. Over the past year, I’ve lost just under 90 pounds, and it all started with the classes. They were a huge help in the beginning—I didn’t want to feel like the “weakest link,” so I pushed myself even though the workouts are designed to go at your own pace.

Eventually, I set a goal to gain muscle and finally do a pull-up—something I had never been able to do before. Hayden, one of the personal trainers, created a plan for me and was always available to answer my questions. Thanks to his guidance, I can now do pull-ups and lift weights confidently and safely.

Something I didn’t expect was how many friendships I’d build along the way. As someone who’s pretty introverted and antisocial, I never thought I’d meet so many amazing people here. This past summer, I even got a group of gym friends together to play tennis a few times, which was a blast. This gym isn’t just a place to work out—it’s a community that’s changed my life.

I was back home for a week! Together we RISE.

I have been training, coaching, and working out at RISE Fitness and Kickboxing, formerly Kicked Up Fitness, since January 2019. I can say with absolute certainty this gym has the most character, the most unique atmosphere, the most knowledgeable training staff, and the BEST members in the greater Annapolis area. We are a family, we are diverse, we support one another, we leave our egos at the door, and most importantly, we have fun!

RISE has become my home away from home (even though I live right down the road!). I am grateful for everything the gym has done for me, both professionally and personally. I have received nothing but support since I came on board. The gym (including major input from our now owner, Ben Biondi), has helped me find my way in Annapolis. I thereby show up to serve our clientele and inspire our community to the best of my ability everyday. I see the same in all of our owners, our coaches, and our members. There are tons of individuals and families that have been a part of this community for many years, and the reason for that is obvious: because this gym is filled with love, passion, and
of course, SWEAT, GRIT, and HARD WORK.

And don't forget, we have Robert "Contact" Watley, professional MMA athlete and local superstar (14-3 record) training out of our gym. Rob's doing big things, and we are grateful for the opportunity to support him and all of our local athletes at every level, in their pursuit of excellence.

Remember that EVERYONE is an athlete and everyone can RISE to their highest potential. This will look different for each of us, and it will look different today than it did yesterday or does tomorrow, and it will manifest differently this year than it will next year, or even ten years after that. But at RISE, it is our job, and our privilege, to help individuals on their health, fitness, rehabilitation, and performance journeys, and to provide the support necessary for Self-discovery, Self-fulfillment, and Self-realization.

I've never been to a gym quite like RISE -- the community there is special. The trainers/staff/long-time members are so welcoming, people actually know each other's names, the monthly challenges are fun and motivating, and the combo of kickboxing and strength/conditioning classes have helped me take my fitness to the next level. I’ve been coming to this gym for years since it was Kicked Up Fitness and I can honestly say that this gym is one of the most welcoming, supportive, fun, and challenging environment you can be in. All of the instructors are wonderful; they make a point to remember your name and cheer you on during the hardest workouts of your life as well as making sure you are enjoying your journey to fitness. The other gym members are so friendly and they definitely push you to do your best. I had never taken a kickboxing class before joining RISE Fitness & Kickboxing, but it was one of the reasons I signed up. At first, I was intimidated, but the trainers quickly explained each move and proper form. The energy of these classes is unbeatable! If you don't feel like going to the gym, just show up to a class, and you'll want to work out.

I've been a member of "corporate gyms" in the past and never looked forward to going. They were overwhelming, impersonal, and overcrowded. The culture of RISE Fitness & Kickboxing turns members into friends. Soon after joining, I was being greeted by name! I’ve had an incredible experience at this gym. The classes here will absolutely challenge you, giving your workout routine a serious boost! Every person I’ve crossed paths with has been exceptionally friendly and supportive. Everyone here is nice and every staff member is amazing. I love Micah, he always makes everyone feel welcome and at home. He goes out of his way to help you during his intense classes and provides encouragement verbally as you are in the midst of tough workouts.

Chris is also super helpful and did not hesitate to make my situation easy for me.

I can honestly say that I'm going to miss this place a lot. I wish I could take hot box with me and all the people!

Kicked Up Fitness is the best gym I’ve been to whether in the Annapolis area or not. The owner and staff are wonderful. The sense of community and friendliness of the other members is unmatched. I was honestly debating if this gym would be worth it. It's a 30 minute commute, and with gyms much closer to me I wondered if it was really that much better than my other options. However, I LOVE THIS GYM. The instructors are all incredibly passionate and kind. I've never been happier at a gym before. The classes have such a safe environment, the instructors push you to try your hardest but ultimately they want you to do your best and understand that everyone is on a different level. I've been in classes with 15 others and still felt that I received individualized attention when I needed it. The instructors are always there for you before, during, and after to help. I cannot say enough good things about this place, I urge everyone to try it out!

Kicked Up Fitness is the best. gym. ever. Only go there if you want to sweat, be challenged, have fun while you work out and meet incredible people.

I recently had the opportunity to train with Emily Young for six weeks during a #BacktoSchoolChallenge at the gym. All the trainers at the gym are woah so amazing, but what made me excited about training with Emily was her unique workout style. She leads "kickboxing" classes at the gym which I love going to, but they are so much more than kickboxing. She incorporates strength training, endurance and all this other stuff that pushes me beyond my limits and then also has us work out on the bag.

What impressed me about her as our team coach during the challenge was how organized, meticulous, thoughtful, challenging and inspirational she was. She met with our group individually at the beginning to assess our goals, then created both individual and group workouts and meal plans. Every one of us had different strengths, body types and goals. She made sure we were all training properly according to our body types and pushed and encouraged us every minute during all of our work out sessions. Emily made me feel like I could accomplish anything and even though I wanted to kill her and/or die bc of how challenging her plans were, I did it. She helped me be proud of myself. We all lost weight, inches and body fat percentage. Our group worked so well together because of how cool and supportive everyone is and also because we all truly admired Emily as a person and trainer.

I'm pretty much obsessed with this gym. I started going back in March when I signed up for the one free class and was instantly hooked. I bought an unlimited monthly membership the next day, the bonus is that the rates are incredibly reasonable compared to most gyms. I primarily go for the kickboxing/boxing classes. The trainers are all incredible, motivating, helpful, and friendly and every class offers enough variety to keep your body fully engaged in different ways. I feel like I'm the strongest I've ever been which has been wonderful for both my physical and mental health. I'm honestly so thankful that I gave this place a try, I never want to stop going! Favorite gym I've ever consistently visited. Feels like a neighborhood gym which I prefer over 'big-box' type, and somehow it's never too crowded. Big weight room, lots of free weights and machines, 2 power racks. Another big room has cardio machines, punching bags, and cross fit type equipment. Haven't tried a class yet but there's always lots of people taking them. I signed up for their 3 month summer promo and then extended because I have no complaints!

I have been a member of Kicked Up for almost a year now. I joined on a whim but plan to renew come January because I am totally in love! Not only does it have a small business vibe, it is the ONLY gym in which I feel like the trainers genuinely care about my well being and health. It is unlike any other gym I've ever experienced. High energy, great music, and sweet atmosphere makes it the total package. I never felt like I would be comfortable with an intense strength training and kickboxing routine like this. However, I have been inspired and provided with the confidence to push forward and persevere. Brenna in particular has been such an AMAZING help. I mostly took classes with Ben, Brenna and Jason which all have their own way of giving the class. Classes are never the same twice so you'll never get bored! It seems like they are always trying new ways to keep things fresh and yet challenging! Now if you get lucky and have a class with Tony you better get ready for the workout of your life!

If you really want to get to the next level I would recommend choosing a trainer to do one on one classes with. Jason Pitt was a great trainer and while my time was limited the workouts with him really taught me a lot and I saw some great results! I only wish that I lived closer and could continue to go there because it was truly a wonderful place to spend a few hours in the evening!

Best gym in the Annapolis area! I've been coming to Kicked Up for almost 4 years. I was out of shape and afraid to try kickboxing but somehow found the courage to give it a try. Since then I've lost about 50 lbs and kept it off. The owner Tony and his staff really want you to succeed, they are passionate about fitness and nutrition. The personal training is the greatest, Tony has pushed me out of my comfort zone to do things I never thought this 40 something body could do. Brenna was a great personal trainer for my daughter in High School, she helped her get in the best shape for Summer Field Hockey tryouts.

I've never been to a gym where I've made friends, I would normally wear my headphones and just do my thing. At Kicked Up, everyone is friendly, you want to socialize. The classes promote camaraderie. Don't be afraid to try it...

I have been working out here for the last 2 1/2 years and I can easily say that this is the best gym in many ways. The trainers and staff treat you like family, the equipment and programs are state of the art and the location is great. I honestly thought my poor metabolism was the cause of my lack of weight loss in the past. My trainer Janice showed me that I could lose weight with a different program and diet than what I had been doing. She listens to your needs and creates a program for you to see max results. I have lost 11 pounds and 6% body fat during my 6 weeks of working out with her. I am super happy with my results so far and looking forward to the summer!
