Sanctuary Body is not your typical gym full of big crowds and ego-driven lifting. Rather, it is a sanctum of thoughtful practitioners focused on your aspirations for health and wellness. Reverence for the workings of the human body inspires our highly educated instructors, and our thoughtfully designed boutique studio. Rest assured that you will be taught by trained professionals who refuse to let fitness fall into a routine of sore muscles, detrimental techniques and lagging results. Sanctuary is dedicated to teaching and instilling a new level of bodily awareness that you’ll carry beyond our doors. Our studio environment is quite unique, but its our unique approach to fitness that truly shines.

Sanctuary Body in Fells Point has the absolutely highest quality staff, instructors and therapists anywhere, and in a beautiful former church sanctuary! PLUS free parking! Very personalized programs because it’s only one on one or very small groups. Scheduling is easy and services are affordable. My entire family goes here and it feels like a second home.

I started training here after a major surgery and pregnancy that left me way behind where I used to be physically. I've been working with several of the Sanctuary trainers for a couple months now and have had an incredible experience. They have all taken the time to learn about my body and my challenges, and have found ways for me to build strength without exacerbating my injuries. It's a major shift from how I used to work out (long-distance running) but I feel so much healthier and better with these new routines. I would recommend working with the Sanctuary team to anyone who asks!

I absolutely love this place. I’ve had pretty intense knee and right shoulder pain. I haven’t been going for a ton of time but in the last four sessions I can feel my body getting stronger and I can honestly say that the regular knee pain has completely melted away. New parts of my body are firing, I’m way more supported, and I’m excited to keep going. Mostly worked with Pete and Brandon. Legends. ✨

I just had a one on one with Kim doing silks to help me stretch. I've seen her for a little over a year. I have a rare condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which is generally pretty hard to treat but Kim is super knowledgeable and makes the sessions so far! Genuinely helps with my lower back pain too.

Only issue that the building is not accessible to get to if you can't do stairs, which is a real shame.

Beautiful facility and easy to get to /park in Fells. Recently started both personal training and pilates: Both trainers spent time with me first to understand my goals and evaluate where I need to build strength to correct and help prevent injury. The sessions are personalized for me which has made it impactful in a short period of time. I highly recommend!

I’ve had 2 massages, 60 and 90 minutes, with Brian W and it is always such a fantastic experience. He is so respectful and professional and makes you feel very safe and well taken care of. Even small things like saying what he’s about to do before doing so puts you at ease. The room is very clean, serene, and comfortable. He even gives great advice on how to do easy and actionable movements at home to ease any aches that plague you regularly. Brian is a wonderfully thoughtful masseuse and I look forward to seeing him again soon!

Highly recommend for a tailored fitness experience. Day 1 will involve a consult with in depth analysis of the posture...imbalances...strengths...and weaknesses. You'll go straight into a custom workout plan that addresses said imbalances and wrap up with personal recommendations on how to achieve your ideal body. Every session is 1-on-1. The Sanctuary itself is astounding, set in an old church. The trainers are all fantastic teachers and listeners. Once again,I highly recommend this gym.

I have had the most incredible time at this gym with Brandon and Kim. I feel like they have really listened to my goals and taught me effective exercises that feel really great for my body. It’s been lovely to have personal training sessions especially during the pandemic when I didn’t feel safe going to workout classes. They put a lot of care into sanitizing the gym and practicing COVID-19 safe practices.

Sanctuary is fantastic! I have been going to them since 2017 and have trained with Brandon, Pete, and Kim. My husband and I now do duets with Pete and it’s fantastic. He mixes up workout, is thoughtful about the whole body and open to modifications. He communicates with my PT to come up with best exercises to help my form. We are so so pleasure with our experience. It’s also a beautiful space.

I just started working out at Sanctuary about six weeks ago--my first workouts since COVID started. I've had several sessions with a personal trainer, plus a massage, and I'm looking forward to beginning Pilates. I've been really impressed with the staff--who are total pros and very knowledgeable--but have also appreciated their commitment to safety and health as we emerge from the pandemic. The space is beautiful, and while it isn't as capacious as some of the big gyms, I find myself preferring the quieter and more personalized experience.

Best investment I’ve made since quarantine started! I was hesitant to go to a gym during a pandemic, but Brandon and his team do and outstanding job making sure everyone is safe...and that’s coming from a nurse. I am so thankful I took the plunge and started working out at Sanctuary. My overall health, mental and physical, has improved and I genuinely look forward to each session. Came to the Sanctuary for help with some long-standing running/sports injuries and alignment issues. I've been really impressed with the sessions - I've always felt like I'm in extremely professional and trustworthy hands, and have been really happy with progress on strains and injuries I assumed I was never going to shift. I leave every time feeling stronger but also more open and with better posture - like a cross between the feeling I'd get after a work-out and a sports massage. Plus it's a really beautiful space.

I almost canceled my training session today with Brandon, due to a sore and stiff neck that developed over the past few days. But I'm glad I went in. Brandon worked on my neck and all the places from the back of my head to my lower back, that were all connected to the pain I was experiencing. Some very specific stretches got deep into the area and I felt much better leaving than I did arriving. I'm glad I went. Thanks, B!

I've been training here for over a year now. I originally went in to do some lower body workout to help support my knee with torn MCL, but the training sessions expanded to whole body workout and it's been very effective. There are 4 trainers and they all have different "style" of workout regimen, so it doesnt get boring like ordinary PT. Highly recommended.

I love attending Joan's Zumba classes here. She is an incredible dancer and her love of dancing shows through every class. She's always enthusiastic and it's infectious! I can walk into class after a bad work day and leave smiling and feeling amazing. She uses a nice mix of dance styles and music, making sure we target every area of the body during class. I feel exhausted and yet renewed at the end of every Zumba class. I actually tried Zumba classes at a gym and I was so disappointed in the quality of their instructors and dancing; I had to return to Sanctuary Bodyworks and Joan!

I would attend Joan's barre class (equally amazing as her Zumba class), but it's right after Zumba and I'm too tired to exercise anymore! So instead I go to barre with Molly on Wed and tone those muscles that just did cardio the day before. I find barre extremely challenging and a great work out. Molly mixes her barre class with some yoga, ensuring to always tell us modifications; the most important thing is to exercise without hurting yourself. Barre is a lot of very small movements, but they add up to a great workout.

Visits to Sanctuary Bodyworks has become a weekly ritual for me! The studio itself is absolutely beautiful, and I love getting in my yoga and barre workout sessions here. I always take yoga on Monday nights with Nila and barre on Wednesday nights with Molly. They're both amazingly motivating instructors who truly care about their students and helping them achieve their goals. I always leave every class feeling uplifted, stronger and sweatier :) I highly recommend this studio and both of these instructors if you're looking get to toned up!

Excellent equipment pilates sessions with Farida. Farida is an amazing instructor and extremely conscientious. She takes the time to ensure that you are aligned correctly and that you work hard! Not one second is wasted during our sessions. The reformer equipment is top notch as well compared to other studios/gyms.

I have a Pavlovian calming response as soon as I come into Sanctuary. I try to come early to let it soak in. Whether it is a group class or personal training, I know every time that I'll be feeling wonderful when I leave!
