Spirit Club is one of my son’s favorite places to go for exercises to help him get stronger. He loves his coach who always encourages him to do his best. He plans activities that improve my son’s strength and endurance. The activities are fun and work on developing important muscles that are vital to maintaining mobility. All classes are designed to motivate participants to be healthy and fit. It is the only place where everyone, regardless of their physical abilities is encouraged to be active and to enjoy the time they spend at Spirit Club!

Tim has been working with my husband for a while. My husband has CP and brain damage from a botched surgery. He has gone from not being able to use his legs at all to now being able to stand and walk assisted and use his legs to push himself up in his bed. That’s a great leap for someone who used to be able-bodied and work a full-time 40 hour week. I only have good things to say about Spirit Club, everybody there is very accommodating and so nice. Tim is very knowledgeable and willing to go above and beyond for his clients. A++ in my book. Thank You Spirit Club!

It was amazing! definitely beyond my expectations! Afterward Julius joined in with the group session briefly and much to my surprise he did well with it also. I could tell he appreciated being there. When I asked him if he like it, he pointed at "Yes" on his choice card. When we got home, I asked him again and he responded "yes."

We wanted to say thank you and pass on our gratitude to you and the staff at Spirit Club.

First of all, our son, Will, absolutely loves Spirit Club. The Thursday fitness class is the highlight of his week. We are not sure what he does when he is there, but he certainly leaves with a boost of self confidence and a smile that takes him through the week.

Yesterday, the DSP from the agency that supports Will had car problems and was unable to return to Spirit Club on time to pick up Will after class. Thankfully, Will was in great hands! As Will's trainer, Chris McCrae was leaving for the evening, he noticed that Will was standing alone outside. Chris invited Will back inside and hung out with him while calling Denny Pruitt. Denny gave me a call and we were able to find the DSP and also send my husband to pick up Will. Denny stayed on the phone with me until Will was safely reunited. This did take awhile and Chris ended up staying 45 minutes after the end of class to ensure that Will was safe and clearly enjoying himself. The evening ended with smiles and high fives.

Chris and Denny certainly went above and behind last night and we appreciate it very much.

I also wanted to let you know that the caring, professional way we were treated last night was not a surprise to me at all. Every time I have interacted with anyone at Spirit Club over the past 2 years, I have always been impressed with the positive, helpful and caring manner in which the Spirit Club operates. The Spirit Club is truly an amazing place and we are so lucky that Will gets to experience a bit of Spirit Club magic each week.

Keep spreading the love of fitness, happiness, positive self-esteem and goodness in our community!

All the best,
Karen and Dennis Sandstedt

Thank you so much Spirit club for being such a dedicated and wonderful program! :) Everyone at Pottstown DEC enjoys everything about it so much and it truly brightens all of our days! The exercises in multi trainer view are so beneficial to everyone especially people who are in wheelchairs, etc. and shows so many different ways you can do the exercises. The creativity behind the specialty themed exercises are so amazing and so much fun as well! You all truly do such an incredibly beautiful job and we are so grateful for you :)

Our company uses Spirit Club for our members with developmental disabilities. They absolutely love it! They now work out everyday and never get bored. We love that the classes are easy to follow and have 3 different levels of movement. Very helpful especially for those in wheelchairs. Janna and Jared have been great with us. They are always happy to help and are wonderful communicators. So happy to have Spirt Club to keep everyone moving.

I looked at this to see how their exercise program would benefit our individuals. To my delight, it's for everyone! Staff can work out with individuals and have fun. They also offer yoga and other forms of exercise. You can do it as a group or individually without leaving your home. They are doing the programs via Zoom. Staff are encouraging and friendly. Contact them for a consultation.

Spirit Club has a vast understanding of individuals with physical and intellectual and developmental disabilities. They create an all inclusive environment that welcomes people of all abilities to challenge themselves and encourage their peers to live healthier lifestyles. Spirit Club has adapted to COVID-19 regulations and provided virtual services live, on Zoom and on demand, on their website. As the Virtual Coordinator at the Waterbury Arc, I struggled to find new Zumba and yoga classes that efficiently stimulated my individuals and got them excited to exercise. Since beginning our partnership with Spirit Club, I never run out of classes to put on for them. 15 minutes of yoga in the morning has such a positive effect on the rest of their day and kicking back, relaxing, and watching a healthy cooking class gets them excited to make healthy meals and snacks! We would truly be lost if it were not for Spirit Club.

I can't say enough positive things about Spirit Club! Jared, Tricia, Adrian and Sam, to name a few, are the best. They not only take the time to work with each individual, but they also train the parents/caregivers on how to work with their child in order to get the best exercise experience. This has really filled a void for the young adults who have aged out of other exercise programs. Keep up the Great work!

Spirit Club has been a great addition to our son Sean's social and educational experience. He doesn't always get a lot of physical activity during his weekly routine, but he looks forward to his Sunday SC class and really does enjoy the exercise. We have been involved in Spirit Club for a few years now and would recommend it to any individual with disabilities who would benefit from a low-stress (and FUN) exercise experience.
BTW, although all the staff is first-class, Adrian is the BEST!

Spirit Club was an answer to a prayer. My adult son, who has developmental disabilities and autism, needed a safe place to excercise. When he first attended a group class he was shy and refused to participate; gradually he became more engaged and now he walks into the gym like he owns the place! His personal training session with Adrian is the highlight of his week - and now I take personal training at the same time and we work out side by side on our individual fitness goals.
Our family LOVES Spirit Club and we are grateful to be part of the Spirit family.

Spirit club helped me understand my body and empowered not just to work out on a regular basis. They helped me know that I can hit every mark no matter how hard or challenging it was. I went from 295 pounds to 242 pounds in a 2 year span. This was a class I was introduce to by my job. Therefore, if I worked even harder I would have lost much more. Successfully I'm keeping it off by dancing, eating healthy, and making great choices for my life. I know that a year from now I will have slimmed even more than I am now. I owe it all to Spirit, my own spirit, and my God.

Our son Drew has been attending Spirit Club for a little over a month. From our first contact with Jared (the owner) and his team, we felt included and supported. They listened carefully to our goals for Drew and developed a program that keeps him engaged, builds strength and most of all, is fun. It's not your typical gym atmosphere-- its got a very special "come as you are" vibe that makes you happy to be there the minute you walk in. The staff and trainers are friendly, patient and seem to genuinely love what they do. If you are looking for a place that offers exercise and community for all abilities, you can't do any better than Spirit Club.

"Spirit Club Is Totally Awesome"

"Below is the mission to explain why Spirit Club is the number one gym and fitness facility in the DC Metro Area"

MISSION

Our mission is to offer a universal design for fitness that empowers people of all abilities to exercise successfully in a socially integrated setting.

SPIRIT Club provides supportive and accommodating fitness programs that aim to increase the health & wellness of people of ALL abilities, including people with physical, developmental & psychological differences.

S.P.I.R.I.T. is an acronym that represents our philosophy of ensuring programs are Social, Physical, Interactive, Respectful, Integrated and include Teamwork. SPIRIT Club strives to employ people with different abilities to lead & assist classes, and help maintain our administration and facility.

"Below is the historic background of How Spirit Club Began with a vision to really help people stay healthy"

BACKGROUND

Spirit Club began in April, 2013 while Jared Ciner was working two jobs: one as a Support Counselor for adults with developmental differences, and the other as a Personal Trainer at a local gym. After discovering an important need to improve community health & integration, Jared teamed up with Sam Smith, autism self-advocate and marathon runner, to design & teach a wide array of fitness & health programs that support the needs of people of ALL abilities.

β€œPeople with disabilities are 58% more likely to be obese than the general population in America” -Centers for Disease Control & Prevention

Today SPIRIT Club supports over 300 people with different abilities including people who are nonverbal, those diagnosed with autism, Down syndrome, intellectual differences, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, CHARGE syndrome, muscular dystrophy, paralysis, stroke survivors and community members without any diagnosis.
SPIRIT Club offers modifications and support that allows every person to successfully participate in exercise. All SPIRIT Club Trainers are certified Fitness Instructors through an NCCA accredited organization, and certified in Behavioral Principles & Strategies through the Maryland DDA.

"Now you are about to meet the Number 1 Fitness Trainers in DC Metro Area At Spirit Club"

Jared Ciner

Founder, CEO
Certified Personal Trainer (NASM)
Certified in Behavioral Principles & Strategies I, II, III & IV (DDA)

In 2011, Jared Ciner spent a summer in Ethiopia volunteering at the Fregenet Foundation, organizing athletic programs for Ethiopian children from severely impoverished families. This experience helped him realize the positive impact that structured fitness could have on the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of those participating. After graduating from the University of Maryland with a BA in Psychology, Ciner received his Personal Trainer certification from NASM, and began working two jobs: one as a Fitness Trainer at a local gym, and the other as a Support Counselor for adults with disabilities, including autism, down syndrome and cerebral palsy. In 2012, Jared founded SPIRIT Club, a fitness organization that provides specialized programs that accommodate people of ALL abilities including those with physical and developmental disabilities.

Spirit Club awesome place to exercises- no matter your goals or abilities. More interactive than a typical gym, Spirit Club offers greater opportunities to meet and speak with trainers one on one. Trainers here are passionate, motivating and easy to talk to, all of whom who are certified by the Developmental Disabilities Administration of Maryland and work with many clients who have disabilities. This place is more than just a gym, but fun (and healthy) community gathering spot for anybody and everybody!
