It’s been almost 3 months maybe more, and the gym still hasn’t opened, nobody tells us when it’s opening again and when I call other sports and health they say that they have no idea. I have belonged to almost every gym in the area and S&H is the only one who has consistent and constant cleaning staff actually cleaning , long before Covid19 and even stepped up since then. Upper management as well as all other staff are extremely professional and helpful. I have no concerns about going to this gym as far as health or otherwise; they are really on top of all the new regulations and making it as safe and healthy as possible for all their patrons. It’s much bigger than it looks so it is easy to use equipment and not be crowded. There is everything from rehab type equipment to rooms for CrossFit style workouts as well as powerlifting/weight lifting . Literally something for everyone. 10/10 for Lakeforest S&H all around!

I'm in the military and was stationed in the area in 2016. I worked out at this gym for 3 years and loved it. The facilities are nice, and the staff is wonderful. They have all the equipment I need (free weights, machines, plenty of cardio options) in addition to a pool, sauna, and steam room. The atmosphere is also non-intimidating and friendly. What sealed it for me was I was sent overseas for a year and cancelling my membership was simple and hassle-free. The manager is more than accommodating. I've recently returned and I am more than happy to start up my membership with them again. Highly recommended!!

I have been a member of this gym for for over a year now and in that time the conditions have deteriorated noticeably. Weights are left strewn all over the floor and seldom re-wracked properly. I’m at a loss to figure out what the house keeping staff does, though I have seen them walking around shoeless and sitting in the lounge area on their phones. The same trash has been left for days without being cleaned up. Lumps of hair, sanitation wipes and litter can be seen in the same spot for days. Many members seem oblivious to proper gym etiquette contributing to the disorder. Members can be observed cutting and dying hair in locker rooms, using paper towels to dry off after showers, and any number of odd and off putting behaviors.

The ownership has commented that this feedback seems confusing, so let me be clear. This gym is NOT KEPT CLEAN. I have spoken with management numerous times about the issues mentioned above and the response (in essence) is that there is nothing to be done because the member demographic are just dirty people and don’t care.

Equipment breaks constantly. Front desk typically chatting it up with their friends, unhelpful. Locker room facilities always dirty, moldy.

Patrons don’t re rack their weights. A good majority come fresh from work and leave their bags and belongings right on the workout floor.

They have the right equípement and mostly everyone is nice but they need better housekeeping and rule enforcement.

I love Lakeforest Sport & Health Club, Montgomery County, MD. I’ve been a member here since 2008. Yes, the building is dated but it is clean. The staff are super friendly, courteous & helpful (Jeanne, Adam, David, Kim, Ben, Ian). Exercise equipments are new. We a have a small family atmosphere, everyone knows everybody, not necessarily by name but by face. My son hired me a personal trainer, he was so Knowledgeable & professional. I also took swimming lessons with Ben Frye, he is the best ! Now, I can overcome my fear of deep water or even just going down the pool. Lastly, I ❤️ my Zumba family. Lakeforest S&H has lots of Zumba classes morning & evening. I attend mostly evening classes maybe 3 to 4 classes a week. Hats off to my Zumba instructors: Tannya, Claudia, Mia, Wendyann, Cherlisa, Rhea, Lady & Raiko...I’ve lost a lot of weight & maintained it. I highly recommend Lakeforest Sport & Health to my family, relatives & friends.

I took a lifeguard class here and I found the instructors, Ben Frye in particular, to be completely inappropriate and unprofessional when teaching the class. He wasted so much time and constantly interrupted other instructors. He continuously made inappropriate sexual jokes while teaching class. I thought that he did a terrible job.

I started coming to the gym shortly after we moved to Gaithersburg, and it has been an awesome experience! The staff is always friendly and professional, the gym is fully equipped (including some cool equipment that I hadn't seen elsewhere :) and the classes are awesome. I've been attending two to three classes a week, and so far I haven't been disappointed: they have great music, the instructors go above and beyond to make sure everyone can participate and there's consistently a friendly atmosphere!

I love this place! The equipment is neat, the whole gym is kept clean and most of all every employee at Lakeforest Sport & Health is super nice and amazing! The front desk staff have never failed to smile and greet me both when entering and leaving the gym! I myself swim at this gym and love the warm reception that I receive from the lifeguards and aquatics director. I have been a member of Lakeforest Sport and Health since the fall of 2014....I LOVE LOE LOVE this gym.
The guys and gals at the front desk are always smiling and happy when you check in (this must be a great place to work!)
The petite lady who takes care of the locker room in the evening is very concscientious, she always has a smile on her face too.
I love the cycle and yoga classes that group exercise offers but I have also invested in the knowledge of a personal trainer throughout the years. Lynda keeps my workouts fresh and challenging so I get the size 6 results that staying in my comfort zone of doing the same workout over and over just won't get me.
I love all of the new equipment and new workout spaces....especially that new glute drive machine!! I definitely felt that the next day!
Best of all....not alot of people just sitting on machines taking selfies or texting, the people at this club are serious about fitness!
Adam is great, I've referred several friends and he has treated everyone of them like family when they signed up :)
This club may be older but it is clean (old and clean have two different meanings), the staff is friendly, and you will get a personalized program when you join!
I don't regret leaving that club down the street for a second.

The equipment is ok but unfortunately on my trial day I went to the sauna, locker room and steam room first and it completely ruined my workout. Everything stinks, and humongous amount of updates needed. Everyone sitting in the sauna was complaining about how disgusting and dirty everything was. I agree people make mess too but seriously a gym at that scale needs to have some standards, one old lady cleaning up is not enough on busy times. Very disappointed because I really wanted to join as this gym was 2 mins from my work place. I would consider coming back if they updated the much needed areas!

This gym is like a favorite pair of shoes, a little worn and dated but oh so welcoming and comfortable. I used to belong to Rio until it closed a few years ago and I had to switch to the G-burg location. While it isn't as snazzy as the former Rio club (fewer classes, smaller and dingier locker room, etc), the staff is stellar – very friendly, always quick to try to solve an issue, and very, very professional. Over the years, I have come to enjoy working out in this sports club because it offers everything I need – working machines, good classes and a nice steam room. Besides that, it is convenient, easy and has an intimate feel. When Rio closed, i thought i would switch eventually to the new club opening in 2018. But I am very inclined to stay with this one.

I love this gym! It’s been more of a home to me for the past 3 years. The staff is so caring and work great as a team, they always have the most welcoming smile when I come in, and I mean EVERYONE the sales people, trainers, maintenance personnel, front desk! They take the time to get to know you personally, even greeting you by your name. They’ve really all made it a home. I’ve invited several friends to try out the gym without a doubt that the staff will give them a warm welcome, a few even signed up. This is an updated review. I closed my membership for personal reasons. They are a bit pricy anyways. When I asked the accounts manager Tracia Spell for a freeze, the options were a bit unfair. Of course they tell you its all in the terms and conditions lalala. This may be true, perhaps I overlooked .The deciding factor was this: The medical freeze option they have will not allow you to use the gym, but they will keep taking money out of your account for a membership, fee and they will require a doctor's note upon return. So what the hell is the point of an account freeze?? Being in the medical field -I took it personal.That is a RIP OFF. Of course, someone will reply to this post to auto correct feelings. My opinion still stands. The staff is still very wonderful, but it was time that I re-evaluated my membership. So like others, I have moved to another gym in the area. We all know which one that is...Thank you.

Well, I have been a member for about 2 years now. I have seen plenty of transitions. The trainers are very kind and passionate about what they do. My first trainer was Jeannie. She is phenomenal. However, she is super busy!! Next, I trained with Sebastian. He is new, VERY knowledgeable, and focuses more so on a Physical Therapy//Stretching standpoint. In my case, this is great!

Now, the gym recently produced all types of new equipment!! They are fun to use, and offer a variety of workouts. The front desk staff, Daisy and Kim are very sweet. Don't let Daisy catch you with free time on your hands, because she is HILARIOUS.

Before, I joined, I came right to the review page. There were mixed views. In terms of cleanliness, they keep it up. They also have wipe stations everywhere for you to clean equipment down before/after use. I have not visited the aquatics section yet. It is a "homey" community gym. I pretty much know all of the staff. If there is an issue with a staff member, do not hesitate to leave it in a emailed survey, or contact management. Adam will def reach out to you.

I may not give it a 5 just yet, due to little nit picks here and there, and the $29.99/m is a bit pricey compared to planet fitness $10/m. However, they are always mailing/emailing promos. I advise that you take advantage of ALL that you can for this price. Trainer packages are not that bad either.

I saw someone left a review about this gym being full of thieves,liars, and racists. I do not know their experience. This is a DIVERSE gym. I have not encountered such nonsense. Always bring a lock to a gym. No one has lied to me yet. I am sorry this person had this experience.

I am overall happy with this gym. I accomplish workouts , and leave de-stressed. Do not forget to try yoga in the mornings!! Joyce is warm!

I very rarely make any postings, but for the services of the Lakeforest Sport & Health club, it would be unfair not to recognize their services and facilities. The staff are calm, polite and courteous. This was my first attraction at registration. Over the last week since coming to this gym, I've consistently found different people at check-in, but all with the same friendly attitude. I met their GM, Adam, working at the customer service desk and did not even know he was the GM--very nice and friendly! The space is large and with a diverse set of equipment for virtually any exercise you want. I also like the fact that they have adequate written information/instructions wants to opt-in for. I'm impressed and highly recommend this health club!!

While I really appreciate the super friendly staff and decent exercise equipment, they should be more accommodating to parents. My main issue is the parking. There are designated parking spaces for parents with a sign that says that "violaters will be towed". Well, what is the point if they never enforce this?? I look into the cars that park there and there is no child's safety seat. When I get into the gym, sometimes there are no other children, yet ALL the PARENT DESIGNATED spots were taken. I am a parent that is forced to walk from the upper level parking lot. I wouldn't normally complain about this if it were safe, but it is NOT. Myself and my toddler (in a stroller) were almost hit twice by people in their cars whipping around the corner. I am sick to death of this because my complaints have fallen on deaf ears. (I have made almost half a dozen complaints). They do nothing to change a solvable situation. Post signs in the entrance of the gym about the towing. Interrupt people in the middle of their workout so they can move their cars. If that doesn't work, call the towing company! It's as simple as that. Message to management: Step up your game or you will lose your parent members to other gyms. There are plenty of other choices in the area.

I discovered this gym back in 2015 and the staff have been incredibly welcoming, kind and caring towards me and my fitness goals.The pool is very high quality and is by far my favorite place to swim in terms of pool portions, cleanliness, and location. Although I don't live in the area anymore, I still happen to drop by now and then and enjoy the facility.

I have been a member of Sport & Health since 2009; I am pretty much a constant figure at the gym at least 5 days a week.

I absolutely love it! The staff is friendly and wonderful.

I love my GroupEx classes (I take 1 - 2 classes a day). The GroupEx instructors are terrific.

I also love my Personal Trainer, Jeannie Meece. I have been training with her since 2012 and she has help me get to my goal weight and get stronger.

The facility is great and clean. Now that we have new equipment, it's awesome.

What else can I say? I love it here, it's close to my home, the price is right, and I highly recommend it to anyone.

I love this Sport & Health so much! The gym has everything I need for my workout. Everyday is different in that gym. Some days it's relaxing, most days the staff are the ones who make you feel uncomfortable. Encountered maybe 3 friendly/helpful staff members out of the 10 I've come across. One female trainer in particular very rude and territorial. I'm sure she only gets away with her attitude bc she's been there a VERY long time. Long curly hair w gray roots. I don't care to even know her name. Heard other people complain about her while at Rio, so I know it's not just me. (RIO is great, very friendly) Needs to humble herself.
Free weight equipment very outdated. No bars, only dumbbells. Way too much chlorine in pool area. Only reason I go is when I don't feel like going to Rio - but usually leave asking myself "why did I come here". I wouldn't recommend this particular facility to anyone.

I've been looking to get involved with different types of cardio and functional training and their suggestions and training were immensely helpful for a somewhat beginner. Good gym experience. Never had any trouble with theft, but get a lock obviously. Typical gaithersburg crowd, lots of variety. Staff at the front desk were always pleasant and helpful. They have an excellent range of equipment, it'd be hard to find something they don't have there if you're serious about gaining muscle mass. They also seem to have a ton of classes available. I never did them but they flood the parking lots when they happen. Everything is as clean as a gym is going to get... It's worth the price.

Personal recommendation: go straight to Herberth for any kind of question, that dude knows what he's talking about. He's a professional.

The club has great yoga and weight training class instructors in the am classes, e.g., Lynne, May, Joyce, and Heather. The manager and front desk staff are helpful and friendly, as are the trainers. The cleaning staff do a good job in keeping the club reasonably clean.

Apparently this employee came to me and embarrassed me in front of everyone saying that someone complain about me that I was wearing compression shorts wich is something people wear at the olympics , cycling and bodybuilding competetions. BEFORE anything the eployee should have talk to me after my workout not in front of everyone , second he should it have made some research about what compression shorts are and what is wearable at the gym before saying even a word . third since i was not breaking any guidlines he should have told the complainer that "theres nothing we can do about it since his not breaking any rules" . your employees also were not very friendly mosltly rude .I record it the conversation to post it online for the embarrassment I have to pass since I am paying for this gym . you guys have a 2 star on google review hope you feel proud about that more than anything!! .This happen on August 27 , 2016 on a saturday 10 am .

Never in the 9 years that I have been a member with sports and health clubs have I experienced the showers being so dirty and stinky! It smells like strong mole. I do not think this is sanitary and the location of the locker rooms do not help the situation (basement). I will not be returning to this club location until the problem is solved and i advise members not to use the showers. I honestly think this gym needs some renovation. The tennis court has "ROCKVILLE" wooden floor.

My overall experiences at Sport & Health Lake Forest have always been wonderful! Great work outs in a fun, active environment have always been what drives me to S&H.

The staff members, especially Mr. Herrada, are terrific as well! Recently, I asked Mr. Herrada questions about my membership and he not only answered my questions in detail, but he had gone above and beyond by contacting a couple of S&H locations on my behalf to determine if my membership extended to their locations. He certainly impressed me by displaying professionalism and an amazing customer service attitude.

I have been going to this sports and health gym for the last two years. I have always enjoyed my time working out there because they have everything you need to reach your fitness goals. The staff are very friendly and are always there to help if needed. Go to the sports and health in lakeforest!!! It is the best!!

I like it here. It's close to home. The staff is super nice and helpful. My trainer (Amy) is excellent. There's nothing wrong with the neighborhood as some people implied. The clientele is multi-culti and friendly. I don't have problems getting to machines (Except in January!). Only complaint is the locker room - a bit dingy.

Worst experience in a gym. To begin with, the place is damp, dungy, and unappealing. The equipment is dated, and the place looks dirty. Even given all this, I wanted to upgrade my membership from a different club to include this one since it's close enough to go to on my lunch breaks during the week. I've been a member at least eight different gyms, including five commercial/chain gyms, and several powerlifting and specialty training gyms. I've never seen any gym turn someone away at the door on their first time trying to work out in the facility. If you're a member, you're in. If you're not, some courtesy is made for the sake of sales or, at the very least, reputation. I had taken the time to come, was ready to work out, and was told that my request to upgrade the membership wasn't processed and therefore I couldn't come in. Because I was "already a member" they couldn't grant a day pass, and yet it was because I wasn't a member that I couldn't go in. Not only was girl at the front desk rude, discourteous, and completely oblivious to the fallacy in that argument, but the sales consultant, knowing he would do no different, promised to see what he could do and had me wait through his meeting just to have him look up my account and confirm the request wasn't processed and I couldn't come in. Fourty minutes later, all I received is his card receiving directions on another way to go online and request an upgrade. As if I will.

If a gym treats you like this before you're a member, you're certainly not going to get service once you're in. I'd rather spend more money at a farther gym than pay for service no more personal than I would get from a machine.

My biggest complaint is that they want to charge me for one extra month. I joined this Club since May as a monthly member. They charge 39.99$ (higher than long term fee which could be as low as 25$) in the beginning of each month. I accepted this because I will only stay in Gaithersburg for the summer and will go back to college in late August for new semester. The salesperson said that monthly membership works for me and I can cancel it anytime. I've told him as well as the trainer that I will leave in the late August.

However, when I sent an cancel membership email to Sports and Health on August 22nd, saying that I would like to cancel my membership since September, they insist on charging my September fee. Their reason is that I need to tell them before July 25th to cancel September membership. I think it is totally unacceptable! When I opened up the account, the salesman did not tell me I should inform them in such an early time and I already left the town so it is impossible for me to use the service. I've tried to contact with the salesman and the club's accounting services, but they do not willing to solve it.

I've filed a complaint to BBB and I will share my experience online to make sure that other's will not fall into the same trap.

There are other parts that I am not satisfied. For example, they offer you an one-hour free training lesson. But in that lesson you will spend 30 minutes to answer their questions (probably for profiling customer) and only get trained for 15 ~ 20 minutes.

The company is corrupt. The employees don't really seem to care about the customers. The personal trainers seem to mostly be fat and lazy. The atmosphere is poor and overcrowded with unpleasant guests (although I understand why).last but certainly not least the price is not worth the experience. I would never recommend this gym or location to anyone I care about.

Overall, my experience at the Lake Forest location has been very good. The staff is consistently friendly: greeting me as I enter and leave; the gym is always clean and rarely I’m unable to get equipment. The locker-room is clean and spacious and the steam and sauna rooms are up and running: the amenities are kept full - I prefer to use my own towel, so no issues there; and the salesperson [Brian] is consistently professional and friendly. I only have two things on my “bucket list”: I wish they offered more Step classes, and often the parking lot is full. Notwithstanding, the gym is a perfect size and the layout is excellent. I couldn’t be happier!

The one thing I used to love of this location was the swimming pool. Although small (3 lanes) it is about 8/14 feet deep in the deep parts. However, the location is a bit unsettling and ever since 2-3 years ago, they implemented "renting" towels for over $1.25(?) That is what really ended my attendance there. Bring your own towels! sigh...
