Kicked out for a "noise complaint" the manager didn't even witness.

"I previously left a 2-star review here, and it seems management decided to retaliate rather than improve. I was abruptly kicked out of the gym in the middle of a workout at 9 PM. A manager named Roy actually drove in from his home just to eject me, claiming he received a 'noise complaint' about me slamming weights. He didn't witness anything; he just used hearsay as an excuse to terminate a paying member.

It is incredibly unprofessional for a manager to drive to a facility late at night specifically to confront a member without verifying the facts. If you leave an honest review here, expect them to find a reason to ban you rather than address your concerns. Avoid this place."

Been to many gyms in my lifetime. Military, Living Well Lady, and Gold's. This gym has lots of equipment and tanning available for a reasonable price. They have exercise classes and trainer's available for extra money. Not like old days just sign up included with price.

I heard a lot of negative things about this place but I decided to give them a try since there location is near me but when I was trying to sign up with my health insurance silver sneakers free benefit for a basic membership, they told me that a $39.00 payment was required to join. They are in violation with the health insurances contract to provide this silver sneakers basic benefit to the members for no cost.. Poor business management. I will let my health insurance, BBB and the fed trade commission know about this scam.

be warned. The gym seems to have simple billing and is great up front. But if you have a hiccup with your payment there is no forgivenes. you go straight to collections. No warnings, no emails, no phone calls. And a very unreasonable owner who insists that he did nothing wrong. How do you run business like that. Alot of broken down equipment that never gets fixed. A sauna that is gross. Hours that are super short on the weekend. The membership isn't cheaper than the brand new planet fitness around the corner and they are 24 hours. I don't need special customer service. I just needed reasonable and he is not.

Went to the gym today as I have the insurance membership to go to several gyms. This location charges a 39 annual fee which the insurance company has no idea about. I already paid fees to program through my insurance company. Fitness my way stated there should be no fee.

Great gym for the price. Clean with great staff. Some of the equipment needs repairs but nothing critical.

Unfortunately, if you want to tryout the gym as a new member you have to pay for a $15 day pass and the WiFi is so slow it's unusable.

I signed up through the Active and Fit program, which allows you to use the gyms that ELECTED to join the program without incurring any additional costs of signing up directly to the gym. Unfortunately, when I went here to utilize my membership, I was told that their policy changed at the beginning of the year to require ALL patrons to pay an annual fee of $39....which defeats the entire purpose of the program.

I was told that I couldn't work out without paying that additional fee even though I didn't have that issue with all of the other gyms I went to through the program. I didn't necessarily have much of an issue with it but I don't understand why you would allow your gym to be included in this program just to change your policies to basically disallow members to use it as it was intended.

GREAT gym - ALWAYS soooo clean. Staff is super helpful and friendly. In fact, when I joined while at the tail end of recovering from an injury, the young lady working that day even took me around to show me some machines I could use while still recovering. Also, I am always greeted when entering and leaving, by the person at the front desk. They have a large variety of equipment. Plus a (dry) sauna!! And it's NOT an over-packed "meat market" that some gyms can be at times. All in all, definitely worth every single penny! Would be great if they reinstated 24-hr availability, versus the way hours are cut back even further on Fri-Sun.

I honestly can’t tell you how pleased I am to be a part of this gym. Everyone I have met is down to earth and committed to living a healthy lifestyle. Like minded community. It makes me want to do better each time I am there. No waiting for machines, as there are several of the the same type of machines to choose from. Worse gym in the area not worth what they charge not open 24hrs lack of equipment and will try to lie and set you up by saying you’re month to month or pay as you go membership. Month to month is just that if I don’t pay cancel the membership. If you choose to cancel you have to jump through multiple hoops if you don't pay they'll try to put it on your credit report. Do yourself a favor and just wait for a Planet Fitness deal and sign up for that a lot more options and freedom

The gym is great, is very complete, affordable prices, clean. Only one bad thin, there's one lady with her headphones on Saturday afternoon. I requested help she didn't even move, like she didn't care, I bet they are not customer oriented people. Other than that, everything is good.

I’ve been to a number of gyms in the area, and nothing comes close to the value, cleanliness, customer service, and equipment availability of Spunk Fitness in Golden Ring. I’ve been using the facility for 7 years now and still have a big smile walking in and a big smile walking out. The sauna is a game changer post-workout, the locker rooms are always spotless, and the weights are meticulously organized and cared for. Massive windows and an open floor plan gives the facility a very lively and welcoming vibe that is unmatched. They have tons of classes and coaching available, friendly staff, smoothies, etc. or you can get in, get jacked, and get out if that’s your style. Spunk fitness really does provide the best facility around, and it does it at the best value around. Their pricing is simple and communicated clearly, and feels like one of the very few gyms that isn’t “out to get you.” If you’re looking to join a gym, look no further, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Plenty of benches, roasting hot sauna, unparalleled cleanliness and atmosphere, with a no-nonsense, unreasonably affordable price plan. At the very least, get your butt in the door and do a day-pass… I guarantee your gym search will be over.

The gym looks nice, it is local which is why I joined to support local businesses. Went three times before I got a suspect charge from this gym for a guest pass, a day after I presented a FREE guest pass to introduce a family member to the gym.

What made the entire experience worse, while finding out about the charge I was subjected to the owners political leanings, as I was wearing a mask, and guess what... The owner is an anti-masker - don't care to hear why choosing to protect myself and my family is wrong in the owner's eyes.

What you all should all be aware that when you try to cancel membership, you have to go in to sign a cancelation form - they will still charge an additional thirty days membership after the form is submitted. In many ways. It almost works out cheaper to let the membership run for the year than deal with a process that is just designed to take more money from you for a service that is subpar at best.

Cannot in good heart recommend this place, financially I got several suspect charges from the gym months after I cancelled my membership, which I had to reverse opening a claim on my credit card. So, likely your information ain't secure. There is no reasonable way to deal with a business, whose model is to screw you out of money. Reported to the BBB, and the Maryland Trade commission and moved to Planet Fitness - same membership price, more freedom, better people.

I stopped attending the gym and then canceled my debit card. A few months later, I am getting a call from Debt collectors telling me I have hundreds of dollars in unpaid bills from “Spunk Fitness”. If I’m not going and don’t have an active account, then why are they charging me for a gym membership??? This place is a scam.

Joined back around January of this year and my first charge to my credit card for membership I was charged a late fee even though my card was on file with them. I went up and asked why I was being charged a late fee and they could not give me a good reason and would not refund my card. The next month I was charged an extra $5.00 for something that when I asked what this charge was they said a smoothie which I never bought. Then when the gym opened back up after Covid19 I was charged the monthly membership and I had not been there in months when I called them and told them I would not be coming back once again they would not refund my card. Also don't do the consultation it's a ploy to get you to sign up for a personal trainer which is another $200.00

Been a member of this gym for a long time and it's just a great club all around. I'm in here a lot and the staff is very friendly. As a military member, they always take care of me when I have to go out of town and I've never had any issues. Matter of fact when I was deployed and one of the employees found out that I hadn't stopped my membership while I was gone ( I forgot) he went out of his way to ensure that I didn't get charged the next couple months after I came home just to help me out. Extremely thoughtful of them. Keep up the good work guys!!!

Ive been going to this gym on and off for about 4yrs. This is a great neighborhood gym with a friendly environment. Only complaint I have is they don't have a free weight squat rack only Klein machines. Although they do have everything else you may need for training. The staff and the atmosphere is definitely 5 star.

I have to say I love this gym but the very big problems are not addressed so that's why I rate them a three and not a 5. I feel this place predominantly caters to only Men. They have the newest work out equipment (of course it's for anyone to use but there is no kinda of tutorial on how to use it) so much women stay away from it not because we don't want to use it but there is no one around to show us how. Also there are paper towels consistently by the weights to sanitize the equipment but I have been here over a year and the ladies locker room has never seen a paper towel in the dispensaries let a alone sanitary waste baskets in the bathroom stalls. Does management think women don't have menstrual cycles? Lastly there are no female trainers while I am sure the male trainers are great at there job it is still better for a business to give women the option to train who they can feel comfortable with. I feel management doesn't care to address any female concerns or request only because I have been here for over a year and maybe management is just more okay with this being a place for men since they are the highest group of members who've joined

It's ok if you know what you are doing. If you new to going to the gym and don't know what equipment will hit your target area, this is not the place for you. I tried to get the special with 1 visit with a trainer so I at least didn't hurt myself, no go. Can't bring in any one to help you. Basically I've been going for over 6 months at 2-4 times a week for almost 2 hrs workout and lost no weight. To break your contact will seriously cost you so I'm hanging in there till the end.

I love the overnight guy Javed who works on the weekends he is very friendly and helpful. I always get a warm smile from him he is a delight to talk to an very helpful. Ive been coming to spunk for a while now and i love it because its never really packed,so you can get a good workout all the way through without waiting. My only issue is the two young ladys who work at the front desk around 8,they were very rude to my mom, before we came she called and asked if she could use my dads membership without him being their since shes his wife, the young lady said "sure, we can do that for you",than we proceeded to the gym just fir them to stop my mom and tell her she could not use it without my dad being there,good thing im a member or we would have wasted a trip. I think its very stupid to have a second memebership if your spouse already has one,other than that i like spunk

Very nice gym. Been going for a few months now. Mixed crowd in both age and fitness goals. Notice a lot of friendly regulars and hardly any gym rats or muscle heads.

The showers are a little dingy (some mold on wall tile grout) but otherwise functional. Been walked in on by female staff while naked/changing in the locker area or when coming out of the showers, which is a bit disconcerting. Otherwise, very good overall.

Spunk fitness is ran by staff of a cast that should be on a soap opera , I've had nothing but problems from this organization since I've started going there ! The entire staff is nothing but high school kids so you can guess how it's being ran ! My latest encounter was ROY the manager said one of his staff accusing me of peeing in the tanning room trash cans , talk about being insulted even after there whole reign of daily drama I kept going there to try to show some type of loyalty but they didn't show it back ! It only worsened with time ! If you're not willing to sacrifice your dignity I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone !

A place for those that are very interested in building their muscles. Individuals can work out "loudly" without having to worry much about an 'alarm'. I've been attending for 3 years. Heaviest dumbbells I've seen are 85 lbs.
